People often ask me what I’m scared of an I often say nothing because I have been to hell already, what use would it be to fear anything here on Earth? The truth is that walking through darkness is what frees you to see the light. It can be a long road but Do not fear anything in this world. #Repost @run_hike_ink_repeat (@get_repost) ・・・ For the past 3 years I always had someone attend my birthday meeting with me. My child, my parent, my partner or even just a friend. But today everyone was doing their own thing. At first I got a bit butt hurt, ain’t gonna lie. I mean don’t they understand what I go through to stay sober! Don’t they understand the significance of this!!! In reality no.... not to the depths that I understand. Today driving over to my meeting alone and then chairing the meeting and sharing my story and how this program works and then hearing from my AA family of what they remember from me and how I am today. That is where it’s at. My recovery isn’t for anyone except myself. The rest is icing on my cake. My children are not responsible for my recovery. My parents aren’t responsible. My friends aren’t..... Me. Just me. So I show up because it’s important to me. Now don’t get me wrong this doesn’t mean they aren’t proud of me by no means but it’s my job to do the work and show up. This young man right here taught me some valuable lessons this week. Ones we think of and hear about but oddly take for granted. Always say I love you. Never leave angry. Say your sorry. Swallow that pride. Be mindful of others. Own your feelings. Be kind. Surrender. Pray. Give it to God. Thank you God for my life today. 4 years, 48 months, 1,462days, 35,073 hours...... Oh and guess what I get to do tomorrow!!!???? The same thing I have been doing the last 4 years one day at a time.
