"In appearance and deportment, the President recalled to Washington an earlier federal period. His clean-shaven face, in a day of prevalent whiskers and mustaches, was an anachronism that matched the demeanor of an old-fashioned statesman. McKinley was gracious but not informal, colloquial without familiarity; and, so far as was compatible with the dignity of his office, he dispensed with ostentation and parade. Avoiding the lax and desultory protection offered by the Secret Service Bureau, he walked freely through the streets without a guard. Washington, recently unaccustomed to the sight of a President on foot, applauded the advent of plain citizen to the White House.

McKinley's personal habits were lightly touched by the transition to the Presidency. He did not smoke in public, or permit himself to be photographed with a cigar. He altered his signature, which had been 'Wm. McKinley' since his father's death, and wrote his Christian name in full. Though McKinley never changed his conventional style of dress, he had a larger and more expensive wardrobe than before. He ordered a number of snowy piqué waistcoats, often sported a vivid pink carnation in his buttonhole, and took to wearing his reading glasses suspended on a neat black cord around his neck. He shone with Sinclair's expert valeting and the ministrations of the barber who periodically visited the mansion to cut and treat his hair, and sometimes to shave him. The gloss of grooming befitted McKinley's position, and also reflected the new ease of his circumstances. His financial worries were over. A salary of $50,000 a year was opulence which gave scope to his naturally openhanded disposition. The President was generous to his family dependents, and to charitable and patriotic causes. He lavished finery and jewels on his wife, celebrating her first birthday in the White House with the gift of a diamond brooch; and indulged in the purchase of a fine team or bays and a handsome carriage for their drives. The 'cuisine á la Canton' was by no means frugal, and many guests were gathered around the bountifully laden table. Benjamin Harrison lamented that the expense of White House entertainment did not permit the President to save money; but, without stinting the official hospitality or his own liberal inclinations, McKinley was able every year to lay aside a comfortable sum, which was invested for him by Myron Herrick or [Vice President] Garret Hobart.

An exceptional confinement was required of the President, and McKinley started out with a resolution to keep himself fit by taking outdoor exercise. For a while, he had a saddle horse in the stable; but after a few attempts to renew his pleasure in riding, he gave it up for good. A schedule of constitutionals, though more persistently followed, was gradually curtailed in length and frequency. McKinley was finally reduced to snatching odd moments for a stroll in the [White House] grounds. On fine afternoons, he usually took a drive with his wife. He went to church on Sundays. McKinley had come to Washington with a Bible text shining in his mind: '...what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?' He kept his faith alight by public worship. He attended the Metropolitan Methodist Church, joining unostentatiously in the service like any other devout parishioner."

Roderick is the first to be recruited for Nd, when Rachel heard him singing in the changing room. His famous solo -Mustang Sally.

Jane is first at Dalton Academy, where despite Blaine’s help the Warblers won’t let her join. Her solo there is Tightrope. She transfers to McKinley and joins ND. She falls in love with Mason, one of the MCarthy twins, who joins with sister Madison. Mason sings I want to break free, when Madison is too controlling.

Spencer, the grumpy jock whom Sue tried to recruit, reluctantly joins Glee club but then is a vital member. He’s gay and falls in love with Alistair.

They are joined by Kitty amd Myron, then the Warblers when Dalton burns, and they win Nationals, under the care of Will, Rachel, Kurt and Blaine.

Overlook Road Carriage House District (Herrick Mews)

The Overlook Road Carriage House District is a historic district in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, that was listed with the National Register of Historic Places on May 6, 1974.  This charming enclave of carriage houses and former servants' quarters has been converted into five single-family homes. Each building has a distinctive style and size, although all are made of brick. The owners' houses were located on Overlook Road, easily accessible to the alleyway that is now Herrick Mews. The mansions were constructed between 1893 and 1898, and the stables were built around 1899-1900. Four of the five buildings outlived the mansions which they served.

     This set of suburban stables, built for the houses of five well-to-do citizens, is unique in greater Cleveland. All are clustered together around a private alley and form the equivalent of a British mews. They clearly embody one aspect of the style of living among the wealthy class at the turn of the twentieth century.  The houses of the owners were located on Overlook Road northwest of the alley, and were built between 1897 and 1898. The land for the stables was purchased in 1898 and 1899, so it may be inferred that the buildings were erected shortly thereafter.

     The Georgian Revival stable was built for the house of Myron T. Herrick, banker, advisor to William McKinley and ambassador to France. It was designed by the important Cleveland architects Frank Meade and Alfred Hoyt Granger. The long stable with cupolas was associated with the house of Edward O. Gordon, broker. Across the alley was the stable of Howell Hinds, president of the United Mines Corporation. His house was on the west side of Overlook Road on the present site of the Christian Science Church. The two eastern-most stables belonged to Melvin B. Johnson and Homer H. Johnson, attorneys. The latter was the father of Philip Johnson, internationally known architect. They are all very different and provide unusual living spaces. The ones that had places for carriages and horses divided up nicely.

Hi guys! I don’t like making ooc posts here and you know I don’t do it very often. But Quinn’s been getting messages lately that show that some of you don’t really know what’s going on here. And I don’t blame you! I know some of you are new on this blog and I’m really really happy that you decided to follow Quinn and be a part of her story! But if you want to fully enjoy our game, you have to know some details. There’s a page on this blog where you can find every change I’ve made in Quinn’s storyline since season 1 to season 6 -> X . Season 1

She kept Beth.

Season 2

She had an eating disorder.

She cheated on Sam with Puck instead of Finn in 2x12.

She quitted Cheerios in season 2 because of her eating disorder and Beth, not because of Thriller/Heads Will Rol performance during football match.

She won Prom Queen in season 2.

She and Sam broke up at the end of the season 2 because of his moving to Kentucky. (so no Samcedes!) She never dated Finn in season 2.

Season 3

She cut her hair after breaking up with Sam. (not in New York!)

She was dating Puck in season 1 and in season 3.

Instead of being a Skank, she got back to Cheerios in season 3.

She was head Cheerio in season 3 but she didn’t wear her Cheerio uniform in school because she didn’t feel comfortable wearing it.

She had a car accident in 3x14 but she was in coma for a few weeks and did not end up in a wheelchair.

Season 4

She started studying Psychology at the University of Lima.

After Finn coming back to Lima (at the beginning of season 4) Quinn and Finn started spending a lot of time together and were a couple for a few weeks but then broke up realizing they’re not meant to be.

She played Rizzo in Grease.

She helped Marley with her eating disorder.

She almost dated a guy named Robert but he started ignoring her after he had found out about Beth.

Season 5

Russel Fabray lied to Quinn that he had a cancer to convince her to start talking to him. He gained her trust only to show one of his investors how much he cares about his family. Quinn found about it and now she hates him even more.

She had an internship at McKinley, she worked with Emma Pillsbury. Quinn tried to protect Glee Club members from Sue who wanted to force them to transfer to another school but she failed and lost her internship.

She started dating Sam after he had come back from NY. (Sam didn’t want to leave Lima because he wanted to be with Quinn, but she told him to leave - she didn’t want him to give up on his dreams for her.)

Season 6

She got an internship in Carmel High School.

She helped Mr.Schue with choreography for the Vocal Adrenaline while he was still their coach - she did it only because Becky told her that Rachel was flirting with Sam (it was a lie). She wanted New Directions to lose and Rachel to come back to New York.

Quinn&Beth and Sam moved in together.

Quinn was maid of honor at Brittana’s wedding.

Sam proposed to Quinn after their performance at Myron’s Bar Mitzvah and she said yes.

Tina and Artie didn’t start dating.

5 years later…

Quinn and Sam got married.

She works as a school psycholgist at William McKinley High School. Sam works there too and is a coach of New Directions.

Quinn gave birth to a son and she and Sam named him Simon Finn.

All the other ensemble roles are filled by Warblers and other left over members of ND (Alistair). Kitty and Madison are both dancers in the theater scene and Kitty is Pulitzers secretatry, and Madison is the walker on the street that Jack (Mason) approaches and gets shot down by.

Why do you like the season 6 newbies so much - more than the season 4?

(tw mentions of sexual assault and eating disorders)

Really good question op. First off, I would like to say that I don’t hate any of the S4 newbies. I love them just fine. It’s just the way they were written and their half baked characterizations and plots (Thanks Ryan, Ian and Brad) and also how the show was split between Lima and New York. They clearly wanted us to know that they were only there to be ripoffs and combinations of the original Directioners. Jake replaces his older half brother Puck. Ryder is just another version of Finn. Marley at first fills in Rachel for like two episodes then nobody. Kitty (like Sue said herself) is basically Quinn but also Santana and Brittany in a way and Unique is the love child of Kurt and Mercedes.

So with all of this and the fact that the other half of the show is in New York with Rachel, Kurt, Santana etc. (which honestly should’ve just been it’s own sho but that’s another rant for another day), the direction of the show was a train wreck waiting to happen because we’re never really given time to actually care about the new members or what they go through since Glee writers always had this awful habit of making interesting storylines and either dropping them for the sake of another one or ending said storyline the best way they can. Very quick and very messy.

Like for example:

Marley is bullied by Kitty into practicing eating disorders. What do they do with this? Nothing

Jake is struggling with commitment in relationships and his half black/half Jewish background. What do they do with this? Nothing

We find out Ryder is dyslexic and that him and Kitty were s*xually assaulted at young ages. What do they do with this? Nothing

Unique is obviously struggling with her identity and was the biggest target for harassment. What do they do with this? Nothing

And let’s not talk about how they just completely got rid of Joe, Sugar and Rory for no reason. Like we don’t even know what happened to them after Sue forced them (besides Kitty) to transfer schools 😐 all we get is a guest appearance from Unique in season 6 which was only to push Sheldon’s storyline and the four of them minus Marley coming back to McKinley in 2020.

And this is not to say that the S6 newbies didn’t suffer the same messy fate from the writers.

Like Jane’s feud with Dalton Academy’s sexist Warbler rules, Roderick’s struggle with his weight and “stage fright”, Mason wanting to break free from Madison and his crush on Jane, Spencer’s basically nonexistent relationship with Alistair and Myron transferring to McKinley High for…some reason. I mean Season 6, was the last and shortest season (with only 13 episodes) so there could’ve only so much to actually talk about and wrap up.

But the reason why I like them so much is because they’re simply original characters with buttloads of potential seeping out of them and they’re just way more likeable. It also helps that they have WAY more memorable musical numbers which is something I can’t really say for S4 newbies. Like Rather Be, Come Sail Away, All About That Bass, Uptown Funk, Cool Kids, I Want to Break Free from Mason, Friday I’m in Love from Spencer, Tightrope from Jane, Mustang Sally and Take Me to Church (definite highlight which also proves he’s a better “new Rachel” than Marley) from Roderick, Chandelier from Madison (another definite highlight), You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) from the Warblers etc. I definitely like Kitty much more this season as the pseudo leader of the New Directions and wished they could’ve actually talked about how she was dealing with her friends being forced to move and how the graduates that make it their active duty to always show up at the school at any convenience but never bothered to know or actually care about the newbies but again that’s another rant for another day.

So to basically recap: S4 newbies deserved more than being just retreads of the original cast and S6 newbies deserved their own spin off instead of a short messy (albeit more put together) season.

99 Perspectives on a Single Love Story #95

A/N: The Story of Kurt and Blaine told through the eyes of everyone else but them. Each chapter is a different perspective in the ongoing tale of their love story.

I started something like this a while back - and now I’m taking the idea and really running with it. Each chapter is a ficlet of a different character at a different point in Kurt and Blaine’s life - documenting their love story. This starts in Audition, and each chapter will be paired with a different episode until reaching Dreams Come True.

Myron Muskovitz (Child Star) 

Myron fidgets in his chair.  He doesn’t want to be stuck in the stingy office of his uncle, but if that’s how he’s going to get his way, then he’ll put up with it.  Not, however, without letting it be known how unhappy he is.  His uncle, Superintendent Bob Harris, is looking nervous behind his desk.  He should be the lout.  But Ms. Berry and Mr. Schuester are also looking nervous, sitting across the room.  They should not be.  Myron likes them.  Only other performers understand the difficulties of being a real star.  And how damaging it can be when people don’t give you all the things you need to be a successful one.  

The world, clearly, is not ready for his full awesomeness.  

“Myron, I don’t get it,” Superintendent Harris says.  “You wanted a huge birthday party - we gave you one.  You wanted to be on the high school glee club team.  We pulled some strings for that, too.  We’re even currently working on getting you a camera crew for the reality show you have been crying to be made.  What more do you want?” 

Myron stews a little.  “I want Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson.  Where are they?” 

His uncle blinks stupidly.  “What?” 

Myron slows his speech, enunciating each word sharply.  “I. Want. Kurt. Hummel. And. Blaine. Anderson.  WHY ARE THEY NOT HERE?” 

Mr. Schuester cuts in.  “Myron, I’m sorry but they’re currently on their honeymoon.  And I don’t think there’s any disrupting that.  They’ve earned a break.” 

“A break?” Myron breathes heavily.  “Do you think I take breaks? I don’t! I’m here, every day, diligently aiming to be the best.  So if I’m here - they should be, too!” 

Superintendent Harris looks very confused.  “I’m sorry, but who are Kurt Hummel and Anderson?” 

“Your ignorance is so embarrassing, uncle,” Myron says with a dramatic wave of his hand.  “They are only the best the showchoir world has to offer -- no offense Ms. Berry.  Is there anyone who understands on stage fabulousness and pizzazz like Kurt Hummel? I think not.  And who else will be able to teach me how to perfectly contour my eyebrows?  And would you dare try to have a show choir without the tutelage of one of the most charming and debonair men in America? Blaine Anderson is the epitome of on stage presence.  Who else knows more about a capella singing?  Ug - why are you people being so difficult?” Myron throws his hands up in the air in disgust.  

Superintendent Harris still looks incredibly confused.  “I don’t understand - who exactly are they?” 

“They’re former students,” Mr. Schuester explains, as Myron wails into his elbow.  “They both were great performers here at McKinley, but have since gone to New York to follow their dreams.  And have come back, temporarily, to help with reviving their hometown glee clubs.  And they’ve just recently gotten married.”

Superintendent Harris nods, though he clearly isn’t getting the big deal.   

“Myron, I’m so sorry, but they won’t be back for a couple of weeks,” Ms. Berry says.  She tries to reach out a comforting hand, but Myron smacks it away.  “And while I’m sure you’ll flourish with Kurt being here, Blaine’s going back to coaching the Warblers.   I don’t think anything is going to bring Blaine back from coaching over there.  He likes it - and they do need him.” 

“WE COULD BURN DALTON ACADEMY TO THE GROUND!” Myron shrieks.  He gets up, and with a loud scream, he knocks all the items off his uncle’s desk.  This is just unacceptable.  UNACCEPTABLE!  “They are a pair!  And now you’re telling me I can’t have them both?  Do you know how many hours of New Directions tapes I’ve watched?  Do you know how much we’re wasting time without them here?  Do you realize how subpar this group is when they’re not around?  Do you know how boring and dull and uninteresting this place is when they aren’t gracing us with their presence?  It’s almost as bad as when I’m not here.” 

“Now, Myron…” His uncle starts.  

“Do something, Uncle Bob!” Myron shouts in his face.  

“Myron, calm down,” Superintendent Harris slaps the desk, in a rare form.  “Mr. Schuester and Ms. Berry are perfectly competent teachers, and you will have to learn to live with just them for a short time.  Even you can manage it.” 

“Ug, fine,” Myron deflates back into his chair.  “My career is ruined before it's even started.  With the absence of greatness, I guess I’ll have to settle for being subpar.”  

“Myron…”

Good Morning! It is 8am on a Sunday! and I want to go back to sleep! but I have a train to catch at 9!

So, Birthdays!! I posted about it on Reddit like almost a year ago (the first thing i ever did on reddit, actually!) So I'll copy paste that and change some things because i think I have changed some things since.

So I started this because of my fic series One More New Direction and i went a bit inane due to, like, timelines. so i wanted to give everyone birthdays if they didn't already have them. (and obviously have a note of them all just in case they could be used in the plot)

Here is a screenshot from my timeline google sheets of all of the birthdays (ignore the OCs and the colour coding, it's just me trying to keep track of who is new and who is graduated, this is also why Roderick isn't in this, becasue in my fic he hasn't transfered yet (this is the year between S5a & 6) and Jane hasn't started highschool so that's why she's not on it) and I'll explain them (mostly S2 NDs) under the cut (my reddit comment amended, basically) 💛

I know I missed Blaine but... he's not in my fic as a ND member at all so i didn't give him a birthday just yet because i haven't needed to.

Puck: Aug 17th 1993 I choose Mark's actual birthday because Glee did that with Kurt so why not the other characters. - I see Puck as being the second oldest after Kurt, just based on vibes, so Mark's birthday fit here.

Rachel: Dec 18th 1994 This is her canon birthday. this means she turns 16 in S2 which makes her the youngest of her year group. I've headcanoned that she skipped a grade, or maybe her dad's started her in school a year earlier than everyone else because, well, it's Rachel.

Santana: Jan 12th 1994 Basically I used Naya's birthday. I know this messes up Finn's 'canon' birthday but bare with me.

Finn: Jan 15th 1994 I didn't use Finn's canon birthday because in S4 Sue says he's 19, like a lot, and I also couldn't find it anywhere but the Fandom Wiki. So his canon birthday doesn't work. Finn dies at 19 and if his birthday was the canon one of Aug 24th 1994 he wouldn't have been 19 when he died but 18. So I changed it and used Naya's birthday and what was said during S1's madona episode that Finn was 3 days younger to come up with Jan 15th.

Quinn: Feb 1st 1994 Basically I just looked up her birthday and there was a random thread on Fandom Wiki that stated this was her birthday so I rolled with it because it works with the timeline.

Britt: March 14th 1994 It's what it says on Fandom Wiki, but I don't remember it ever being said in canon. However it's also Pi day (3.14) so that's fun for the 'math genius'

Tina: Mar 28th 1995 A year younger than the others as she graduates S4 not S3. I was going to go with Jenna's birthday just because but apparently her and Harry (Mike) share the same birthday! So I had Mike have April 28th and moved Tina's up a month

Mike: Apr 28th 1994 See above I guess. It's Harry's birthday so I rolled with it. graduates S3

Sam: May 6th 1995 A year younger because he graduates S4. It's said in the prom episode that his birthday was a week before so I looked up when American's have prom (I'm english) and yeah. this was what I decided??? I can't remember why exactly I chose that date but I'm sticking with it because I can't change it in my fic now without messing stuff up. I maybe would change it to a week earlier so at the end of April.

Kurt: May 27th 1993 This is canon and makes Kurt the oldest in the club which is fun since Chris is the youngest of the main cast and it's also Chris's Birthday take away 3 years. My headcanon is that his mum and dad kept him back a year before starting school because he was so small or something OR that he missed too much school when his mom died and had to retake a year. I'm leaning towards the latter because that's a sadder backstory.

Artie: Jun 14th 1995 A year younger than everyone. again, I used the actor's birthday because I'm lazy and it fit.

Mercedes: Jul 10th 1994 I just see Mercedes having a summer birthday for some reason. IDK? literally just picked my mom's birthday.

Unique: Aug 20th 1995 so she's in the year below Sam/Tina/Artie in my headcanon which is why she's not still at McKinley or highschool in S6. Alex's Newell's birthday.

Ryder: Sep 14th 1996 A year younger than Unique. A Sophomore in S4 (I think that may be said somewhere? or at least implied?) He could be a Freshman too, so 1997 or stick with '96 and have him kept back a year because of his dyslexia, but I decided against that in my story. Just a random date I picked because I didn't have anyone else in September.

Marley: Oct 4th 1996 Also a Sophomore in S4. (again I think that's said?) Melissa's birthday

Jake: Oct 17th 1997 Freshman in S4. Honestly, it's simply because Puck doesn't know him and if he was a Freshman in S3 than Puck would have maybe interacted with him? or at least known there was another Puckerman in the school and I don't think it's said anywhere that he's transfered or anything. so hence, a freshman... Jacob Artist's birthday.

Joe: Nov 12th 1994 completely random. In my head canon he's in the same year as Sam/Tina/Artie

Sugar: Feb 14th 1996 A year younger than Sam/Tina/Artie. I also just like the idea of her birthday being on Valentine's day, it kinda makes the whole Sugar Shack thing kinda sad in a 'noone would come if it was just for my birthday but! Valentines!!' way

Kitty: Feb 22 1997 Young enough to come back in S6 as a Senior (don't get me started on the confusion of that timeline) Random date.

I also headcanon the McCarthy twins as around late-1998/1999 (I picked 23rd May because Twins and Gemini! Only one based on astrology!) and in their sophomore year in S6. Same with Spencer

Rodderick ~ 1997 ish. I believe it's stated that he's a senior in S6? Same with Alistair??

Jane's a Freshman in S6 so a late-1999/2000 birthday.

and Myron is around November 2001 ish because he turns 13 in roughly November 2014... i think... again S6 timeline is insane.

I would have liked the Brittana wedding to come sooner in the season, maybe even 6:6. And Klaine reunite a few episodes sooner, maybe 6:6. -and yes have them discussing their relationship and even spending at least one episode along in NY after they reunited. Conclude the McKinley part sooner, in one episode and have Rachel and Klaine return to NY earlier. 6:12 would be the 2009 flashback. I would have liked all of the final episode to be five years in the future, and see them marrying then.

well, i think 6x06 was an important episode for brittana fans, so i’d prefer letting them have that one. i'm fine with brittana getting married during 6x08, i just don't like klaine's involvement in that episode. i think the one thing that klaine & brittana fans can agree on is that klaine shouldn't have gotten married during brittana's wedding.

but yes, i do think klaine should've reunited sooner. ideally, kurt would've found out that blaine and dave broke up during 6x07 and then would've run to him like he did in 6x08. he would've confessed that he still loved him, they would've kissed, and then they would've actually talked about their relationship for a while (shocker!!).

they would eventually come to the conclusion that they do want to spend the rest of their lives together, but they don't want to get married right away. they want to take it slow and wait until they're back in NYC, with stable jobs and after enough time has passed in their relationship. it's not going to be rushed, and it's going to be because they both want it.

at the wedding, brittany and sue ambush them, but klaine turns them down. during 6x09, myron doesn't exist and dalton burning down happens in this ep. but instead of what happens in the actual episode, it features more of them talking about what dalton meant to them and discussing their future, with blaine mentioning applying to NYU. skip over sectionals/regionals, and have 6x10 show the brief clip of their nationals win. then show us rachel & klaine going back to new york. and like you said, spend an episode in NYC catching up with the gang’s lives there, including brittana, artie, elliott, etc. 

i agree with you that the final episode should’ve been entirely set in the future. i would've killed to get a klaine wedding in the finale, with a simple proposal from kurt and an immediate yes from blaine, and then them finally getting that big, juicy NYC wedding that kurt had always dreamed of. cooper could've come back as blaine’s best man, elliott could've acted as kurt’s, isabelle could’ve come back, klaine could've had their respective wedding parties of sam and tina / mercedes, rachel, and santana, and i would've liked to see burt officiate. i mean, i headcanon that they eventually do a vow renewal ceremony after 10 years of marriage, and it looks just like this, but it would've been nice to see it onscreen, y’know?

"MERCY STREET" Season One (2016) Episode Ranking

Below is my ranking of the Season One episodes of the PBS Civil War medical series called "MERCY STREET". Created by Lisa Wolfinger and David Zabel, the series stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Hannah James and Josh Radnor:

"MERCY STREET" SEASON ONE (2016) EPISODE RANKING

1. (1.04) "The Belle Alliance" - Emma and Alice Green, along with Confederate spy Frank Stringfellow plot a daring plan to help prisoner-of-war Tom Fairfax escape during an Union ball held at the Greens' house . . . with tragic results. Meanwhile, Union nurse Mary Phinney and Dr. Jedediah Foster (still recovering from his drug detox), guide freedman Samuel Diggs through a delicate operation on the pregnant former slave Aurelia Johnson.

2. (1.03) "The Uniform" - Maryland-born Dr. Foster confronts his family's divided loyalties when his mother and wounded Confederate brother arrive. Alice is shocked to find fiancé, Tom Fairfax, deeply changed by the war. Samuel and Aurelia try to persuade a slave boy owned by Mrs. Foster to seize a chance at freedom.

3. (1.01) "The New Nurse" - The series premiere featured the recently widowed Mary's arrival in Union occupied Alexandria, Virginia to assume the position of head nurse at a Union military hospital that used to be a local hotel owned by a local Virginia family named the Greens.

4. (1.05) "The Dead Room" - The unexpected visit of an inspector throws the hospital's staff into disarray. Mary feels empathy for an army deserter, while Samuel is hunted by a trio of Delaware-born soldiers who believe he had stolen their wounded brother's provisions. Tom's tragic death forces James Green Sr. to take a risky step to help the soldier's family and earn the Green family's respect.

5. (1.06) "The Diabolical Plot" - Frank Stringfellow sets in motion an assassination plot, when he learns that President Abraham Lincoln and First Lady Mary Lincoln plan to visit the Mercy Street hospital. A recovering Aurelia decides to leave Alexandria in order to find her brother and Dr. Foster uncovers a scheme to undermine him at the expense of his patients.

  6. (1.02) "The Haversack" - Emma nurses Tom, her sister's fiancé. Dr. Foster wrestles with his marriage and career. Mary strives to improve the lives of her patients with help from Samuel. And Aurelia finds herself swept into a corrupt and sordid deal with the hospital's slimy quartermaster, Silas Bullen.
