I know I promised this would be posted close to Christmas but... January is still close to Christmas right?

The inspiration for this one was the phenomenon of silicon-valley grifters  “reinventing” things that already exist (currency, public transport and even art) as privately owned proprietary technology that also has a massive carbon footprint.

Thinking about how Nog was off visiting his gram-gram back home while his father and uncle were freaking out cause the wormhole aliens de-evolved Capitalism Emperor’s™️ brain and he had done their people's known equivalent of re-writing the Bible.

Also kinda wish we could’ve seen Nog explain to Ishka about him going to the Academy. That would’ve been interesting.

“Ferengi Love Songs” (S05E20, Stardate Unknown) is an enjoyable Ferengi episode. There aren't any real high stakes, but we get to see progress in Rom and Leeta's relationship and in Quark's growing conscience. We also get to see Quark finally get his business license restored. Good fun.

What better way to capture the spirit of Ferengi Love Songs in my episode poster than to emulate the one sheet for Failure to Launch?

the fact that Grand Nagus Zek wasn’t included in the wife guy whackdown AT ALL is total bullshit. Mans should’ve had a bye. he changed an entire society for his lady.

Honestly, I do like how this episode acknowledges that the Ferengi’s current business practices are preventing them from making long-term profit and how Zek is on the cusp of realizing some important things that should be changed but he’s set in his ways and also barely has the energy to manage being Grand Nagus as things are now, let alone rework an entire culture.  He genuinely set up this plan to help his son Krax succeed, not to trick him into falling short.

Understandably, this is going to be a long-term subplot for the show itself as well as for the characters in it.
