you look like your name is daryll ~ lando norris x reader
Tumblr media
pairing: lando norris x fem!artist!reader
warnings: none...? not edited ig
notes: random blurb to try to get the creative juices flowing. last part of faceless is on its way, just want to make sure it has all the details and is legible lol. have a good one! :)
Tumblr media
You stood off to the side in the crowded art gallery, offering tidbits of information to random people. Some asked logical questions about the pieces of art you were selling but most just wanted to know where the nearest bathroom was.
This wasn't the way you planned on spending your weekend but your boss had invited some top dog, rich athletes to promote the museum and insisted you come and help.
It hadn't been all that bad, you were finding a few people who weren't just there for the free champagne, that you could sell some of your work to, making some extra cash here and there. However, you slowly grew bored of standing there waiting for somebody, who actually appreciated the purpose of the gallery, to pass by.
As you slumped onto a bench and pulled out your phone you heard footsteps approach you, looking up at what looked to be an avid sports fan you pointed to your left and said, "Bathrooms that way,"
He gave you a confused look and stared up at your art on the wall, "Uhm, I don't need to go, thanks though."
That made you feel stupid and you felt your cheeks heat slightly, "Sorry, I didn't think you would actually be here to look at art."
"Why?" he asked sassily. Along with the sass he had a British accent, which made your heart flutter slightly.
"Well," you sighed, "you look like your name is Daryll and you wore a smiley face bucket hat to an art museum."
He laughed and scratched the back of his neck. "Try again, it's even more lame than Daryll."
"Uhm, Eugene?"
"Do I look like a Eugene?" he questioned with a small smirk on his face.
You laughed, "Not really,"
He shook his head, laughing with you, "If I can guess your name can I take you out to lunch?"
You looked up at him confused, this was not how you saw this conversation going. Oh, who cares, "Go for it Daryll."
"Y/n?"
You looked at him with wide eyes, "Okay, that's not even funny,"
"You have nice handwriting," he put one hand in his pocket, pointing at your signature on a painting with the other.
"Anyway, I got to get going," he gestured behind him, "can I find you later?"
You chuckled, "Sure Daryll,"
He grinned wider and walked off in a rush.
Tumblr media
After your lunch break, you returned to your post. There weren't as many people wandering around anymore. Magnified voices blasted from around the corner, followed by a crowd of people laughing. You followed the noise and shifted into the crowd, looking up at the platform of speakers.
Oh shit. It was your new friend that you had tried to chauffer to the toilet. He was the famous rich guy who was supposed to be giving this place a lot of money.
"What would you be, Lando, if you weren't a Formula 1 driver?" the interviewer asked, the two men pulled out their whiteboards and started scribbling down their answers.
"Okay- actually Oscar let's start with you," he walked over to the other guy who turned his board around. "What would he be?"
"I said a golfer being beaten by Carlos Sainz,"
The crowd groaned and laughed at his answer as the question continued, "And Lando says... a golfer, an artist, or..."
"Only fans," He grinned, and you couldn't help but laugh with the rest of the group.
Lando.
He had a nice name too. He caught your gaze and winked.

Halloween here! Here's my lil fic just for you. I had fun rereading both Joels' fics and tossing in some inside jokes and hopefully captured their mannerisms and speech (dialogue is hard for me). Thank youuuuu!:) (also ur the genius not me lol). SDJ=Stepdad Joel
Joelkemon Universe What If?
(what if you met up with Thighs after your latest cucking fun) BY HALLOWEEN ANON
1.5k, thighs out!Joel x f!reader, cuck!SDJ
After the three of you come off your high, SDJ shuffles into the pool’s bathroom/locker room to clean up. He doesn’t come out for a while, and you and Thighs Out swim around a little and you chat and flirt together. You find out he's staying at the resort for two weeks partly on vacation and partly for work. He's a sports agent for a very famous golfer who now in old age is more famous for their spokesperson work for the resort and makes surprise appearances in the course for golf fans.
You both agree to meet for dinner that evening at the nicest restaurant on the water. “If you need anything in the meantime, sugar,” he brushes his thumb against your lip and you sigh. He looks up past your shoulder and his eyebrows go up. “Just give me a call.” He kisses your hand and nods his head, calling over your shoulder “Take care buddy!” to SDJ who just came back from the locker room and has a permascowl across his face. He looks between the two of you and shakes his head. “For god’s sake”, he mutters under his breath and huffs off while you lay on one of the chairs, soaking up the sun with your book.
You tell your mom and SDJ you have dinner plans with someone and your mom says something like “good for you girl!’ but SDJ's jaw drops and he blurts out a short "No!" and then covers his mouth. Your mom laughs and smacks him in the chest. "Oh c'mon hon she's an adult. Don't be such a square.” You hear them leave while you're in your room getting ready.
You change into a snug, lacy swimsuit coverup that could pass for a dress. You put on a new, skimpier swimsuit underneath and some strappy, tall sandals. Thighs sends you the name of the restaurant and you send him a mirror selfie from the bathroom. “Damn, sugar 💦 Don’t keep Daddy waiting 🦪” You mentally agree to yourself to send him at least three nude selfie that night during dinner.
At the restaurant Thighs treats you to drinks and the best meal you’ve had the whole vacation. He asks about SDJ’s deal and you tell him the abridged version of your history.
“Yeah, he sounds like a-”
“Jackass, I know” you sigh.
“I was gonna to say a dumbass prude, but that works too." He leans back and takes a drag of his vape (🍃) and blows it out to sea. "No way I could stop myself if you were under my roof. Hell, no way I'd wanna.” He licks his lips. This stirs something in you and you feel your core pulse under your dampening bikini bottoms. He passes you the pen and you take a huge hit.
“So, do you want to fuck him? No judgement if you do.” He puts his hands up defensively. You hesitate and he laughs.
“Alright..do you want to fuck with him?" You decide he's onto something and you both start plotting.
You move to the bar of the restaurant after dinner and the sun has almost set. You send SDJ a snapchat pic of you holding your near empty margarita glass in front of the sunset. He opens it but immediately notices a glint of light on your chest: it's a very familiar looking gold chain. He immediately messages you to Take That Off and Who Took That Picture. You ignore him and ten minutes later he sends you a link to a stunning and extremely expensive Zeels diamond necklace and message that just says "please" and “im sry”. Maybe we're being too hard on him you tell Thighs. “You could be harder on me,” Thighs pouts jokingly. “You know I’d be happy to return the favor.” You smile and tell him to close his eyes. His eyebrows shoot up and he grins, eyes closed. “Okay, you can open them.” There’s something soft and hot pink sitting on the small bread plate he didn’t use from dinner. Thighs out drops his jaw, for once since you met him, he is speechless.
You text SDJ a thumbs up emoji and a selfie of yourself without the chain. You're leaning over, giving him a decent view of your tits that he came to not four hours earlier.
SDJ tries to video chat you and you decline the call. He calls you and you pick up, "What is it now?". "Just missin' you s'all." SDJ slurs drunkenly. Your mom made friends with a bachelorette party so I'm in the room…alone…" He sounded more pitiful and sultry. "Look" you say, cringing at how pathetic he sounds. "The only way I'll even think about giving you another chance is that you prove to me you're sorry. For being such an overprotective, prudish, selfish, cheating asshole."
There's a long pause. "So you don't want to fuck me?" he whimpers.
"I didn't say that" you say bluntly. He hears a loud laugh and woo that's my girl on your end of the phone. “Just wait for my text, ok?” you say. “‘Kay baby. Love-”. You hang up.
You send SDJ one last picture, this time over text, you’re in your coverup looking out over the bar's balcony at the beach. He replies with a picture of his bulge nudging his veiny hand while laying on the couch and a heart emoji next to his head.
Thighs and you head to the beach with two pool chairs after dinner. It's late enough in the evening that there are only a few people left straggling by the water. The beach bar is far but close enough that someone could see you two if they were really looking for something filthy.
You really do feel sorry for SDJ. And you really do miss teasing him and sneaking around. But if you two are going to fuck again, he has to prove he was in the wrong. And if that ends up blowing up in your face you can at least blackmail him. It’s a win-win for you either way.
You lay on the chair as the evening cools down your skin. Thighs holds your phone with one hand and with his other peels your coverup off and unties your bikini. He kneads your breasts, continuing to point your phone at your tits and face. "Are we filming?" you purr at him. "Hell yeah, baby. And you look like a fuckin' star." You blush and he chuckles, rubbing his inner thighs off camera where his swim shorts end. You flop back in the chair and he grinds his shorts and his growing dick outline into your core. A little bit of trimmed pubic hair peeks out from the tent in his shorts standing almost at full attention. That show is just for you however. He keeps your phone's camera pointed at your jiggling breasts and face screwed up in ecstasy. "Say stop," Thighs growls as he grips the fleshiest part of your hip and thrusts his covered erection into your dripping seam. "M-more!" you loudly beg and arch your back. A few silhouettes at the bar look in your direction. This only makes your nipples harder and you grind quick little circles into his crotch, aching for some friction. "Be patient, baby. You can do it. Tell your Stepdad your offer." he smacks your bottom playfully as he continues to record. You blush and turn away from the lens, biting your lip and say, "I will forgive you, if you do something for me." You look into the camera lens.
"There's room service and a box being delivered to your new room, you can thank him [Thighs Out] for covering the cost, in about an hour.” you say. “Open the box and text me if you're game or not. Talk soon!" you wink and the video ends. You send it to SDJ and he texts back "Anything for you. I'll pick up the key now."
Thighs Out kisses down your neck and sucks your nipple while manhandling your ass so much it starts to feel sore. "Wanna come to my suite, sugar? That is if I can take my hands off this sexy fuckin' ass of yours." He jiggles it while playing with your bikini straps and slowly ties them back up. You nod your head yes and pull on your coverup. You both walk back to the main road in the resort and take a shuttle bus to the expensive side of the resort. You find yourself back in his room, legs splayed and laying on your tummy completely bare. You wiggle against the soft white comforter, Thighs already rubbing your ass and murmuring in your ear. "Do you want to wait for him before we record?" You shake your head and say, "I'll still want to even if he doesn't."
"God I love your energy, baby." Thighs presses a hard kiss into you and carnally licks your mouth. He breaks it off to grab his phone and opens the camera app.
"Let's get started, baby girl. Let Daddy teach you what a real cock can do."
-------
Toxic: Ok the "woo that's my girl" took me out 😭 like ik it's my line but the context is so perfect and you can just imagine stepdad hearing it on the other end of the line. 😭 Also I 100% imagine thighs out being no-judgment, very in character.
Thank you, 🎃 anon 🖤

On July 18th 1999 Paul Lawrie won the Open Golf Championship at Carnoustie after a three-way play-off against Jean van de Veldt of France and Justin Leonard of the US.
Before I say any more, like Sandy Lyle in 1985, I don’t think that Paul Lawrie gets the credit he deserves for his win, more people remember it as the day a certain all but unknown Frenchman threw it away.
Carnoustie has long been recognised as one of Scotland's top golf courses but owing to the lack of infrastructure in the area - few hotels and inadequate access routes - the Open had not been held over the famous Tayside links since 1975. On that occasion Tom Watson won the first of his five Open titles and for many years it looked as if he would be the last “Carnoustie champion”. However with the necessary improvements made, the tournament was to return to what many consider the hardest of all Open venues in 1999.
After years of American domination, European golfers were now winning Major titles with regularity and a “home” success at Carnoustie would come as no surprise. Even so, few were predicting that Aberdonian Paul Lawrie, despite having two European Tour titles to his name, including success in the Qatar Masters earlier in the year, would be the man to claim the title!
Yet after one of the most dramatic endings in the illustrious 139 year history of the Open Lawrie, ranked 159 in the world and a 100-1 outsider when the tournament teed off, was lifting the coveted Claret Jug on the Sunday evening.
The week had not been without it's controversy.
Accusations (mainly, it must be said from disgruntled Americans) that the R&A and Head Green-keeper John Philp had combined to make the course too tough were denied by the governing body, but it's beyond dispute that the course was exceptionally difficult, with landing areas on some fairways down to 15 yards in width.
Few players were able to break, or even match, the par of 71 in the first three rounds, but despite the relatively high scoring, the scene was set for a dramatic last day.
Perhaps even more than “Paul Lawrie”, the name of Jean van de Velde will be associated with the 1999 Open Championship. The Frenchman was a comparative unknown in the golf world, yet as the only man to equal par, he led the tournament after three rounds, with Lawrie trailing some ten strokes back.
Lawrie was one of the earlier starters on the final day, but quickly moved up the leader board after posting an impressive 67, for a 6 over par total of 290. A good score certainly, but not one that he thought would ever be enough to challenge, especially as Van de Velde's nerve appeared to be holding and he reached the final tee still holding a three stroke lead, knowing that a double bogey six would give him the title.
Meanwhile, American Justin Leonard had recorded a final round 72, and he now joined Lawrie as leader in the clubhouse, on 290.
Out on the course, the drama was beginning to unfold. Despite a loose tee shot, Van de Velde was still in control, but he then put his second into the rough. Now his problems were mounting and the tournament was alive when he hacked his third into the burn.
Spectators and television viewers watched enthralled as he took off his socks and shoes, rolled up his trouser legs and prepared to try and play from the water, before sense prevailed and he took a penalty drop. In that environment, thinking clearly was almost impossible and the Frenchman eventually courageously holed a 7 foot putt - not for the victory that had looked so certain, but to join the Scot and the American in a four hole play-off.
The four holes selected were over the closing stretch - 15, 16, 17 and 18, with the first of them proving tough for all three competitors. Lawrie and Leonard had bogey fives, Van de Velde a double-bogey 6.
Pars for all three at the sixteenth left the situation unchanged, but when Lawrie and Van de Velde both made birdies at the 17th, the home favourite was now a shot clear of his rivals.
The pressure was now on Lawrie as he played the final hole, but he showed no sign of the strain as he produced another fine birdie to ensure that he became the first Scotsman to win Open in his native country since Tommy Armour's success at the same venue in 1931.
Lawrie has turned down the chance of playing in this week’s Open at Royal Troon, a quarter of a century on from his historic win, and says it wasn’t a difficult decision. He will prioritise the Senior Open next week, which, ironically enough, is back at Carnoustie, and the Seniors PGA the following week, which is played at the Trump International course just outside Aberdeen.
He explains: ‘I’m 55. Physically I’ve got a few problems with my back and my fee - as you can tell I’ve not missed a meal for quite a while - so I thought I couldn’t do three weeks in a row at that level. I’ve got more chance of winning at the Seniors Open, and the PGA the week after, than I have in the Open at Troon and I’ve always said that I’d never play a tournament that I didn’t think I had a chance of winning.
Hopes are high that wecould se our first Scottish winner in 25 years this week as Robert MacIntyre, winner of last weeks Scottish Open attempts to win his first Major, he is out on the course just now and is even par. Nairn golfer Callum Scott posted an even par round this morning, a great round in his debut Open, Scott is a talented amateur, whose consistency took him into the top 20 of the amateur world rankings, has been on a golf scholarship to Texas Tech just like his brother Sandy – a member of the winning Walker Cup side in 2019 .

A Round on The Old Course of St Andrews
We did not ruin our round of the Old Course by trying to golf, we just walked! There is a public walkway through the entire course. It seems to be the path that the rangers use; paved, flat and with great views of the course. It was a beautiful day for golf, and a better day for just walking.
After a scone break, we did a tour of the town then headed to Pitlochry. Pitlochry is inland and north of St Andrews, about a 90 minute drive. The terrain is more hilly. It is considered the edge of The Highlands. We arrived in time to scout out the local sights. We have a real hike picked out for tomorrow
Tumblr media
Some of the famous “pot bunkers” on The Old Course. It was another beautiful day. When I have seen this course on tv, it has always been through blowing rain. Not today.
Tumblr media
Good advice! The walkway brought you right up along side the golfers.
Tumblr media
The famous club house.
Tumblr media
The beach on which the famous scene from Chariots of Fire was filmed is also in St Andrews
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As is the St Andrews Cathedral and castle.
Tumblr media
Our very British B&B in Pitlochry, The Claymore.
Tumblr media
We explored the dam and fish ladder on the River Tummel…..
Tumblr media
…and the waterfall aptly named Black Spout.
Tumblr media
And how could we resist an afternoon cone on The High Street.

Explore Branson Golf Destination Courses Shine in ‘Golfweek’s Best’ Annual Rankings
Five cited for excellence in Missouri including the top four, three garner ‘Top 100 Public Course’ status
Golfweek recently announced two “Golfweek’s Best” lists (“Top Courses by State” and “Top 100 Public Access Courses”) and five courses in the Explore Branson golf destination garnered best-of recognition in them.
Nationally, Ozarks National (Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw design), Buffalo Ridge (Tom Fazio and Johnny Morris), and Payne’s Valley (Tiger Woods) earned distinction in the “Top 100 Public Course” list, ranking nos. 51, 77, and 93, respectively.
For Missouri public courses, Golfweek course raters ranked Ozarks National No. 1 in the state, Buffalo Ridge No. 2, Branson Hills No. 3 (Chuck Smith/Bobby Clampett), Payne’s Valley No. 4, and LedgeStone No. 7 (Tom Clark).
The hundreds of members of Golfweek’s course-ratings panel continually evaluate courses and rate them based on 10 criteria on a points basis of 1 through 10. They also file a single, overall rating on each course. Those overall ratings are averaged to produce the final rankings.
“Golfweek bestowing this honor on us validates not only that our course is considered one of the finest, but also that the Branson golf destination is one of the best with five courses voted into the state’s top 10,” said Dan Davis, PGA, Branson Hills Golf Club, Director of Golf.
Branson’s five other courses are Top of the Rock (Jack Nicklaus), Mountain Top (Gary Player), Thousand Hills (Bob Cupp), The Pointe, and Holiday Hills. Top of the Rock and Mountain Top are award-winning par-3 courses, a welcome addition in golf trips where players tee up 18-holers in the morning, then add afternoon “short course” rounds. Thousand Hills has often earned “favorite course” status among area golfers, while The Pointe and Holiday Hills provide additional popular 18-hole playing options.
The two short courses and Ozarks National, Buffalo Ridge, and Payne’s Valley are amenities of Big Cedar Lodge.
All 10 courses in the destination are located near one another as well as hundreds of restaurants, lodging options, and after-golf attractions.
“Golfweek rating five of our 10 courses among the finest in the state and country is exciting; we hope it inspires people to visit our golf destination in the Branson Missouri Ozarks,” said Lynn Berry, Director of Communications, Explore Branson.
Branson is the No. 3 rated trending tourism destination in America according to Tripadvisor, a place where live entertainment theatres, lakes, museums, a world-famous theme park (Silver Dollar City), sports venues, outdoor adventures, and family friendly activities proliferate.
Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel guidance platform named Branson’s Silver Dollar City the No. 1 theme park in the United States last week. Utilizing traveler reviews and ratings for experiences, tours, activities, and attractions on their site over a 12-month period (May 1, 2022 - April 30, 2023), as well as an additional editorial process, earned the theme park top status.

Y'all. Birdie Wing is back. The new episode starts right back up from where it left off. Most of the episode was very typical sports anime stuff, but then the competition got more serious.
And there was a flashback from Coach Amuro that was just wild.
Tumblr media
He talks about this humiliating defeat.
My dude. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT GOLF COURSE??
This isn't an episode recap. I just needed to share this bonkers hole that is on a series of cliff islands in the middle of a storm and a raging sea. I'm not sure how they got onto it or off, but those things don't matter. This is Birdie Wing.
This whole thing was on screen for mere seconds. I could not get over it.
This show is so wild. It lures you in with these typical sports moments and then drops wild flashbacks in between reminding you that every one of these golfers has some kind of superpower like this is a fighting anime.
I think that's part of why I like it so much. Birdie Wing is a combination of sports, fighting, yuri, comedy, and drama in a way I've never experienced before.
Make sure you watch the very long after credits scene.
BTW, I had to look up his voice actor because it hit me that he's the guy who was Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon. That's how I found the Gundam nod with his character. The VA's most famous role has to be Amuro Ray in OG Gundam. His Birdie Wing character's name is Reiya Amuro.
Sadly, I never got into Gundam or I would have caught that sooner.
Oh, and Aoi looked like she was going to have a breakdown if she didn't pull ahead and win the bet with Eve. She wants that kiss so bad.

Garment District Scavenger Hunt
Two lions guard this monumental edifice with a roar; look on their website to learn more. What is this building?
Tumblr media
The New York Public Library Beaux-Arts Building! After researching, I have even more appreciation for the library and these historic statues. When I first arrived in the city, one of the first things I did was get a NYPL card. It's so amazing to have such a vast group of libraries to explore and work at. These lions stand for Patience and Fortitude (also their well deserved names.) It's so interesting to look at these beautiful statues and think of all they have seen over the years!
Go behind this building to find a great park. In the winter, you can don your skates & slide around for a lark. In the summer, you can become a film buff just after dark. Twice a year the tents used to be where they might be staging a show, & maybe someday, they’ll be back, we just don’t know. What is the name of this park?
Tumblr media
Bryant Park! I am lucky to live in the garment district, so Bryant Park has been my backyard. I cannot wait to explore the park more, it's a great spot to take in the city and get some people watching in. I am excited to go to the markets and fairs in the park during the holidays.
There’s a big giant button on this corner of the street, to use it on a garment would make even Marc Jacobs admit defeat. What is the name of the kiosk under this giant button sculpture?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a Halal Food stand under the button. This button is one of my first memories in New York after visiting the garment district on a school trip!
Why does the button in this sculpture have 5 holes?
It has 4 holes, but the old one that was replaced might have had 5.
Look up & down Fashion Avenue & you will find a series of silver plaques on the sidewalk. What is the significance of these?
The Fashion Walk of Fame! These plaques honor New York designers who have made a mark on the world of fashion and impacted culture significantly. For example Halston, Marc Jacobs, and Diane Von Furstenberg. New York is the center for American fashion - and this walk of fame shows the New Yorkers who have been a huge part of that. They were removed and redesigned.
You may have to look up to see this next store, but if you watch “Project Runway” you’ll know it for sure. Go up to the 3rd floor and get a business card. What is the name of this world famous fabric store?
Tumblr media
Mood Fabrics! We went here for our first class field trip and it is such a fantasy world for fabrics. By working in the garment district this semester, I have been able to explore many different fabric depots, trim shops, and other fashion production shops. Mood is obviously stand out with their huge selection, designer deadstock, and absolutely breathtaking intricate fabrics.
What is the swatching policy of this store?
Aside from some specific fabrics - at Mood you can just pull out some fabric and cut whatever swatches you need. This is so amazing for projects, especially since they have so many options.
Replace the first word in every golfer’s dream shot with “All” & you will have the name of this next port of call. To win at this game, you will have to tell us more, like what is the name & exact street address of this venerable old store?
All-In-One Suppliers Inc. Address 344 West 38th Street. (They moved). Their offering is a pretty niche garment district staple. They sell the fixtures for apparel and garment stores. Including mannequins, hangers, and racks.
They’re known for their parades & fireworks even more than their clothes, but if you’ve never been here, you’ll be one of the only ones we suppose. What is the name of this world famous store?
Tumblr media
Macy's! This flagship is absolutely massive I am so starstruck every single time I walk past it. As a lover of hedonism and outrageous holiday displays - I cannot wait for the windows and displays at all of the flagships and stores during the holidays (Macy's included!)
Stand at the corner of 34 th & Broadway & marvel at the people everywhere, but wait!!! … Is this area named as a square? What is the name of the square in question?
Tumblr media
Herald Square! Aside from other squares, this one is clearly retail focused. This was named after a local New York magazine that used to be here called New York Herald. Now it is home to the iconic Macy's Parade of course.
Viktor & Rolf, Karl Lagerfeld & even Madonna have designed for this store, but if you’ve got a fixed budget, shop here & your cash will buy more. What is the name of this Swedish shopping mecca?
Tumblr media
H&M. The unfortunate store that spearheaded fast fashion. Walking in here reeks of cheap dye and poorly made clothes barely worth their low price. I wish they could turn around their business and go back to their roots of providing what you need at a reasonable (not exploitative) price. Unfortunately, that seems to not be a change they will ever make.
What do the two letters in this name stand for?
Hennes & Mauritz! Originally a women's clothing store - Hennes means she in Swedish. They then combined with a fishing apparel store and added on Mauritz. Obviously they have evolved past fishing, but kept the iconic collaboration of the two.
Keep walking uptown until you cross 3 streets while still walking North. The address will be 1008 but don’t stop now, you’ve just barely left the gate. If ribbon’s your game then you’ve found the right place, & even if it isn’t, once you enter, you’ll have a look of shock on your face. What is the name of this incredible trim store?
Tumblr media
M&J Trimming! I absolutely adore M&J. This trim shop always has exactly what I need with a friendly face to help. Their displays are put together so whimsically, I feel like I'm in a fashion candy shop. I am so sad they're closing down and crossing my fingers they pop-up somewhere else in the city.
Look for a store on the uptown side of the block, called Paper Presentation/City Papery. When enter this store & shop with a gaze, you’ll understand the meaning of this next little phrase: If paper’s what you’re seeking, then here, you should be peeking.
City Papery!
On the south side of 19 th Street between the same avenues, find address 16 for a store full of “no-brand quality goods” that is a favorite of New Yorkers and fashionistas alike. (P.S. – there is also a location on W. 40 th by the NYC Studio!) What is the name of this store?
Tumblr media
Muji! Another store I could spend a lifetime in. They really understand ambiance for a store here at Muji. When I walked in, I immediately felt at ease. The music, simple yet perfect displays and products, and it even smells good! Everything comes together for a relaxing shopping experience in the heart of the city.
You’re now at the entrance to the F.I.T. What does F.I.T. stand for?
The Fashion Institute of Technology!
At this corner you’ll find lots of students of fashion, & going to this museum is just one of their passions. What is the current show at this world-renowned fashion institution’s museum?
They are getting ready to open Africa's Fashion Diaspora, which I am very excited to visit next week! They have such wonderful exhibitions here and this is a place I cannot wait to come back to for more exploring.

Sunday, Day 3, July 7, 2024
We got to play our first round of golf this morning.  We played the Alisa at Turnberry.
First, if you read my post of yesterday, you heard about my delayed golf bag.  Well, luck and fate was on my side (along with our outstanding driver, Joe Marshall).  Joe showed up very early at the Glasgow airport and, despite the baggage company worker calling in sick, found another person with a key, entered their office and retrieved Gordon’s and my golf bag and drove an hour back to Turnberry with our clubs.  He arrived 20 minutes before our tee time.  He was our hero.
We teed off in 2 groups at 10 a.m. with 8 caddies in tow.  The first group was Johnny and the Young Guys (sounds like a band?).  The Young Guys were Taylor, Todd and Tim.  Our second group consisted of Jim H., Jim T., Gordon and myself.  Jim H. was given the former caddie master, Willie, who was a true professional caddie.  My caddy was Lee.
The golf course was gorgeous and exceeded our expectations.  It was a typical links golf course.  Gorge in the rough, with heather in the fields and traps everywhere (just ask JB).  The holes along the sea were remarkable, especially, Holes 9, 10 and 11.  While no one broke the course record, there were several lateral shots (that dreaded S word) from Todd, Gordon and myself and there were also several lost golf balls contributed to the local economy.
After golf, the Young Guys played another 18 holes (same 9 twice) on the alternate short course.  They got to use a buggy (i.e., a golf cart).  Jim H. Jim T and I went to the spa and sat in the hot tub and alternated jumping in the cold indoor swimming pool.  The spa is world class, just like the hotel.
Before dinner, we met for drinks and encountered several great new friends.  I met a golf pro (on the European Tour) and his girlfriend (a blogger, for “a couple of golfers”).  They were from London.  Next, we met a local member of the club, who entertained us with his Marlon Brando immitation. The video is too large to post on this site, so I will try to post it on my social media pages.
For dinner, we ate on the property at the Duel In the Sun restaurant (name for the famous golf battle between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus at The Open in 1977). Most of us ate local fish and chips and it was great.
We ended the day at the hotel bar.  Tomorrow, we are playing Western Gailes (about 40 miles north) and then driving to Edinburgh to continue our venture.
Cheerio.

The Storied Greens: A Journey Through the History of Augusta National Golf Club
Nestled in the heart of Augusta, Georgia, lies one of the most storied and revered golf clubs in the world: Augusta National Golf Club. Since its inception, Augusta National has been more than just a golf course—it's a living museum of golf's rich history, a place where legends have been forged and the spirit of the game has been celebrated for decades. In this blog post, we'll embark on a journey through time, exploring the origins, transformations, and iconic moments that have made Augusta National a hallowed ground in the world of golf.
The Dream Begins (Early 1930s)
The origins of Augusta National Golf Club date back to the early 1930s, born from the vision of two men: Bobby Jones, the most celebrated amateur golfer of his time, and Clifford Roberts, an astute investment banker. After retiring from competitive golf, Jones sought to realize his dream of building a golf course. Together with Roberts and with the help of British architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie, they transformed a former indigo plantation and nursery into a masterpiece of golf course design. The club officially opened in January 1933, but it wasn't until 1934 that the course would play host to what would become one of the most prestigious tournaments in golf: The Masters.
The Masters Tradition (1934 - Present)
The Masters Tournament, initially called the Augusta National Invitation Tournament, was envisioned as a way to promote the club and the sport. The inaugural event in 1934 was won by Horton Smith, and since then, it has evolved into a tradition unlike any other in golf. The Masters is renowned for its iconic green jacket, awarded to each winner, who is also invited to join the club as an honorary member. Over the years, the tournament has been the stage for some of golf's most memorable moments, from Gene Sarazen's "shot heard 'round the world" in 1935 to Tiger Woods' historic win in 1997, becoming the youngest Masters champion at the age of 21.
The Course Itself
Augusta National is famed for its pristine beauty, challenging holes, and impeccable maintenance. The course is known for its azaleas, dogwoods, and towering pines, providing a stunning backdrop to the strategic layout crafted by Jones and MacKenzie. Each hole is named after a plant or shrub, adding to the unique character of the course. Perhaps the most famous stretch of holes is Amen Corner (holes 11, 12, and 13), where many Masters tournaments have been won or lost.
Evolutions and Traditions
Over the decades, Augusta National has undergone numerous changes to keep the course challenging for the modern golfer while preserving its historic character. These alterations have included lengthening holes, adding bunkers, and modernizing facilities. Despite these changes, the club has maintained traditions that honor the sport's history and the legacy of its founders. For instance, the Champions Dinner, initiated by Ben Hogan in 1952, is held each year during Masters week, where past champions gather.
The Legacy Continues
Augusta National Golf Club has transcended its role as a mere venue for golf; it has become a symbol of excellence, tradition, and the enduring spirit of the game. Its history is a tapestry of unforgettable moments, legendary athletes, and the relentless pursuit of perfection. As the club moves forward, it continues to honor its past while shaping the future of golf, ensuring that the legacy of the Masters and the magic of Augusta National will captivate and inspire generations to come.
In the heart of every golfer who walks its fairways, Augusta National is more than just a course—it's where the soul of golf is enshrined, a place where dreams are pursued, and legends come to life. Here's to the many more chapters yet to be written in the storied history of Augusta National Golf Club.

Golf Nation’s ’Three Courses’ Series
Tumblr media
We Love Golf Nation’s ’Three Courses’ Series Hannah Leiner had a blast filming in Phoenix, San Diego and Atlanta.  So did Gabi Powel. Who are they? Household names if you’re in tune with today’s hottest golf media personalities and social media consiglieres. Adding to their burgeoning stardom is, well, starring roles in Golf Nation’s new series, “Three Courses.”  Episode 1 premiered on July 13, while ensuing episodes rolled out weekly on golfnation.com and its Android app. Presented by Club Wyndham, season 1, episode 1 takes us to Phoenix where close friends, blonde Gabi and brunette Hannah, both 24 and happy as the happiest clams, do what golfers love to do – play, eat, and drink.  The venues: 18 holes at Club Wyndham Legacy Golf Resort, chow at The Larder + The Delta, and adult beverages at Pigtails Downtown. “Golf is an experience as much off the course as on the course,” says Hannah as Gabi nods in complete agreement.  “Combining the mental strength to perform with the golf lifestyle the rest of your waking hours represents a great life.” Presented by Club Wyndham, Three Courses features hosts Gabi Powel and Hannah Leiner needling each other during entertaining rounds of golf before highlighting local bites to eat and cocktails to drink – the three requisite ingredients for memorable getaways. The next two “Three Courses” episodes feature the sights and sounds of San Diego and Atlanta golf destinations.  Talk about perfect for frat-like buddies on the road and, in the case of Gabi and Hannah, girl’s trips. The former Florida International University golf stars hit it off at the first meet-up.  That fellowship glows in “Three Courses” as the duo roots for one another.  Notwithstanding, audiences easily surmise Gabi wants Hannah to lip out … and, naturally, vice versa.  The competitive fire is there, but, in the end, camaraderie wins every time. Gabi wields her driver with a swing speed of, proverbially, the speed of light, her greatest bomb stretching 367 yards. While Hannah can’t top that, she claims, “I never missed a fairway and never will.” The “Three Sisters” travelogue captures what these golf-obsessed millennials (as do older generations) want out of the sport and lifestyle – be the best version of yourself on the course, smile throughout rounds and create lasting memories.  The blend of serious and not-so-serious is what golf offers above almost every sport. Hannah appeared on “Holey Moley” on ABC-TV alongside Steph Curry, while Gabi is brazenly focused on growing her already enormous social following. “We loved filming 12- and 13-hour days with the awesome Golf Nation crew,” says Gabi.  Her counterpart retorts: “I only wish there were behind-the-scenes cameras during our road trip from southern California to Phoenix – we laughed so hard … golf brings out the best in people. The golf getaway is only one entertaining topic covered by the golf-lifestyle entertainment network.  Other original, popular Golf Nation shows include “Ambush with David Feherty” and his hidden-camera hijinks; “Golf Unseen” that, this season, journeys in South Africa; “Tee Shots” where celebrity guests chat, sip and take swings with famous mixologist Bill Binder; and “Watch Buy Play” highlighting the planet’s hottest golf products. To top it off, Golf Nation President and former PGA of America President Suzy Whaley hosts the comedic “Don’t I Know You?” modeled after the “Newlywed Game.” Golf Nation debuted in December 2022 and is en fuego.  Its patented technology allows viewers to engage with and instantly learn about and purchase products and other offerings featured in shows by clicking on a “buy bar” while never leaving the streaming experience. Like Club Wyndham, brands exclusively in and others adjacent to golf sponsoring shows and selling products in the video. Boasting a marketing degree, Gabi notes: “Video commerce is genius.  Golf is indeed fun and games, but it’s also a thriving business. In upcoming months, shows will be available on the Golf Nation iOS app, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, and connected (smart) TVs.  The company plans to announce a landmark partnership whereby Golf Nation will be pre-loaded on over 100 million devices globally. Dorothy Campbell Hurd Howe was born on March 24th 1883.
Born as Dorothy Lee Campbell at North Berwick, she spent her childhood on the town’s famous links, where her paternal grandfather and eight uncles all played. Dorothy is said to have taken her first swing when she was 18 months, and by age five, was playing matches against her older sisters.
Campbell did not evolve into a top player until her later teens, when she changed what had been a half swing into a full one. In 1905, Campbell won her first Scottish Ladies title. Played at the North Berwick links, more than 4,000 people watched her win the final on the 19th hole.
She repeated in 1906 and 1908. The next year she entered the U.S. Women’s Amateur for the first time and won at the Merion Cricket Club. When she returned to achieve her first victory in the British Women’s Amateur Championship at Royal Birkdale, it was an unprecedented double.
Her favorite club was a goose-necked mashie she called “Thomas.” It was “Thomas” that she gave credit to for her American-British double for in the semifinal at Birkdale she used the club to hole out from a dead stymie at a crucial point in the match. In the final of the 1921 North and South championship at Pinehurst, “Thomas” holed two shots.
After her flurry of national titles, Campbell married and her golf career hit a fallow period. When she lost the final of the 1920 U.S. Amateur to Alexa Stirling, it appeared to be her last hurrah. But in 1923, seeing that many women were out-driving her by using a more modern technique, she concluded that her game needed updating.
She changed her swing from a stiff-wristed, sweeping-type motion that produced a straight but short left-to-right shot to a more athletic action in which hand action played an important part. Working with George Sayers, the pro at Merion who was also from North Berwick, she forced herself to switch from the baseball to the Vardon grip. After 10 months of work, Hurd was literally a new player.
At the 1924 U.S. Amateur at Rhode Island C.C., she rolled through the field, ultimately defeating Mary K. Browne, the national lawn tennis champion of 1912 and 1913, 7 and 6, in the final.
Although it was Hurd’s last championship, she was far from finished as a golfer. In 1926, she set out to surpass the record for fewest putts in 18 holes, 21, which had been set by Walter J. Travis. At the Augusta C.C., Hurd came to the 18th hole with 19 putts, when she holed out from off the green using “Thomas,” her famous mashie.
She married Jack V. Hurd in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada on February 11, 1913. Jack V. Hurd was a steel magnate living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a member of Oakmont Country Club. She won many of her titles as Mrs. J. V. Hurd, but she and Hurd were divorced in 1923.
She died in a railway accident on March 20, 1945, falling off a platform and into the path of an oncoming train. Her death certificate shows her full name to be Dorothy Lee Howe. The principal causes of death were a skull fracture and avulsion of her right arm.

Ladies Golf Shoes – Hamburg Buyer Guide
The advent to golfing by ladies no doubt came much after men folk took to it and along with it came the need to buy various golf accessories including golf shoes. Since then several sports shoe manufacturing companies of repute are in the reckoning for golfing shoes targeting not just men but also womenfolk. These companies have put forth lot of research and effort into the making of such golfing shoes to provide the maximum comfort and longevity for lady golfers in addition to making these look attractive for the fairer gender. Established companies dealing in golf shoes for women have taken into account the shape and size of women’s feet and manufactured golfing shoes to suit such specifications. Be it broad or tapering narrow at the top, categories of shoes to use while playing golf are available at almost all sports shoe outlets and can also be had through Internet sources. Quite a few ladies face a problem of having wide feet and as a golfer wearing ill-fitting shoes can hamper the effectiveness of the game. To overcome this problem, companies such as Adidas and other famous brands launched a number of designs to match the contours of ladies’ feet. Golfing is a sport that involves long duration of standing hence in-built support within the shoes is vital to provide comfort. Additionally, the foot should have enough space within the shoe to wriggle the toes once in a way. The Eco brand as well as the other reputed sports shoe brands have given due importance to this aspect in their process of shoe manufacture. Different materials such as leather, canvas, suede etc. are used in the making of ladies golfing shoes. Since color plays an important role in the life of women who love to match their outfits with their shoes, these companies have taken this aspect also into consideration.
Tumblr media
Apart from the looks of these golfing shoes, ladies who wish to buy such shoes need to give priority to other aspects as well. These are the insoles fixed within the shoes, the detachable variety of spikes, whether moisture entry is restricted, and the cleaning instructions of such shoes. The Nike brand has incorporated all of these in their range of golfing shoes. Fortunately with the Internet as a tool in hand, the advantage of searching and identifying the right kind of golfing shoes for women has become an easy task. No more running around from store to store checking out the color, shape, size and design. You can find several designs of interest once you are sure about your foot size from not just one shoe manufacturing company but many more. Comparison of designs, prices, shapes, colors can also be done through this online medium. In fact the wide range of Foot joy golfing shoes is a sure bet to satisfy every customer’s individual needs. Branded sports shoes usually come at a price and as a customer it is only fair to find out the prevailing prices of various brands. Rather than visiting different shops to find out prices of ladies golf shoes, the ideal option would be to research well and make your purchase through the Internet. The liking for golf by women has brought in the need for attractive and comfortable golf shoes. Brand names have launched some of the choicest designs catering to this both online as well as in the in-store outlets. Getting an unbiased comparison is therefore prudent.
