Happy Piccolo Day!
Here’s a little faux screenshot that I’ve had collecting dust of Koji & Kikami (ft. Koji getting a heart attack after Kika jumps off a ledge) to celebrate! I’m hoping I can get the rest of this done one day (it’s been so long since I’ve touched this project)

“Mating Season” //Your turn! Either Tater to Goku or Piccolo!

Shit...
He was just going to rub one out all himself, but seeing this girl that he met recently, it was..awkward, to say the least. He couldn't even get his hand on his shaft, his face flushed from both the heat and slight embarrassment.
"...Hey."

Haven't had a chance to talk much about the Ginyus yet, so here we go. Talking about the Ginyu Tokusentai/Ginyu Force/Dairy Special Forces requires putting them into context with the greater Dragon Ball universe around them.
Something that has always been incredibly limiting for Dragon Ball's worldbuilding is that, despite much of the brand being about presenting Goku with new ladders to climb, Goku doesn't climb ladders. He leaps from ladder-top to ladder-top.
What this means is, Toriyama had a tendency to be hyperbolic with the challenges Goku was presented. Toriyama doesn't pit Goku against powerful foes. He pits Goku against the most powerful foe, then has to sit back and figure out another arena for Goku to go fight the champion of.
This creates issues of perspective. We don't get to see a lot of development of the worlds Toriyama creates because Goku only shows up to fight the Very Most Powerful Guy and then leaves. And this also means we don't get to see what being the Very Most Powerful Guy means relative to people who are not.
If you followed Dragon Ball Super, you might have noticed that issue with the Tournament of Power. The way the story leaps straight from "Multiple universes exist" to "Goku vs. The Strongest in Universe 6" and then to "Goku vs. The Strongest Guy in the MULTIVERSE!" without even stopping to breathe.
What is that universe even about? Who knows? But this guy sure is their STRONGEST GUY. And that's something that's been with Dragon Ball... honestly, since all the way back at the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai when his second arc adversary was the Earth's legendary ultimate martial arts master.
The whole concept of aliens enters the Dragon Ball universe by way of Raditz introducing the Strongest Alien Race in the Universe.
Tumblr media
Shortly after that, Goku is fighting the Strongest Saiyan, who is technically referred to as Strongest in the Universe... right up until a retcon introduces the Planet Trade Organization and Goku fights Frieza, the Actual Strongest in the Universe For Realsies.
So. Yeah. It's hard to get a sense of perspective for how powerful our guys are when they leave Earth because they only ever brush elbows with outlier titans.
But to give some idea, we already know that Earthlings are considered to be a pretty weak species.
Tumblr media
Raditz's arrival retroactively explains Goku's destructive Oozaru transformations. This thing?
Tumblr media
This is the Doom of the Earth. The planet-killer meant to exterminate every last human being on this planet. Boy, sure would be fun to be in the ring with that, huh?
It's also clearly touching down outside of the ring so I don't know why this wasn't a ringout. Since when is the waiting room's rooftop considered part of the stage? But I digress.
When Goku was three years old, his Oozaru was measured to be sufficient to slaughter this world. That is how weak Earth is on the scale. By contrast, Namek is considered to be one of the more powerful worlds. Vegeta describes Namekian fighters as "extraordinary".
Tumblr media
That's something we get to see for ourselves, when Extraordinary Namekian Fighters happen to Frieza Force soldiers like a typhoon.
Tumblr media
This is what's considered extraordinary on a standard galactic scale. These are three warriors from one of the stronger races in the universe tearing apart soldiers whose job is to exterminate races. Once they start fighting, Dodoria reads their battle powers as 3,000.
Tumblr media
For comparison, Raditz was said to be equivalent to a Saibaman at 1,200. We never got a read on Nappa but he found the idea of Kakarot being at 5,000 unbelievable enough to go into denial, and he shit himself over 8,000.
So, with that in mind, we can understand that these nameless Namekian nobodies are pretty fucking tough, well within the realm of Saiyan ability. They're also familiar with advanced martial arts concepts like ki suppression that the Planet Trade doesn't understand.
There's probably a reason why, despite Namek apparently being well known to the Planet Trade, nobody's seen fit to gentrify this one yet. This is a fight Frieza's more elite forces can win, to be sure. But also, there are easier pickings to be had.
And then we have the Saiyans, said to be the most powerful race in the universe. Raditz, a loser scrub who doesn't know a thing about martial arts, is able to thoroughly humiliate Goku and Piccolo in terms of sheer stats, even after Goku's been trained by Popo.
Tumblr media
This guy is the Saiyan equivalent of Appule. Goku's been personally trained by God's right-hand attendant, and Piccolo is the reincarnation of God's evil counterpart; These are not humans of this planet, but two guys who demonstrated five years ago that they're in a realm beyond the humans.
And this loser is still doing this to them. This is what a low-rate Saiyan looks like.
And this is what a Saiyan elite looks like:
Tumblr media
Like I said, we're never given an official reading on Nappa but he found 5,000 BP to be ridiculous for Goku to have and 8,000 to be unthinkably terrifying. The Daizenshuu pegs him at 4,000, but they also peg Piccolo at 3,500 which would mean Piccolo and Nappa are closely matched.
I don't know about you but I don't see it. But that may just be me.
In any case, this gives us a general understanding of how powerful the races of the universe are. Earthlings weak. Namekians strong. Saiyans strongest. And then there's outliers.
Throughout the universe, there are... mutants. On rare occasions, an individual is born to a race who have vastly, unbelievably, ridiculously, stupidly tremendous ki.
Tumblr media
The Planet Trade employs these mutants for their upper staff. Zarbon and Dodoria are mutants, as are the Ginyus and even Frieza himself. Especially Frieza. The reason we've never gotten elaboration on Frieza's race is because Toriyama didn't want Frieza's traits to be taken as indicative of a whole people.
According to interview, Cold was born with abnormally high power and cruelty for his race, and these traits were passed down to his son Frieza. Whatever species they came from, it is nothing like them.
They're not the only ones. The Planet Trade collects and employs these uniquely ultra-powerful mutants for its elite forces. The Saiyans are the strongest race in the universe, but these mutants are the strongest individuals in the universe.
To grasp how powerful these guys are relative to the rest of the universe, we need to talk Saiyans again for a moment. Raditz? Raditz was the yardstick for what the bottom-tier of Saiyans was. He made Earthlings look like trash, but he would have been eaten alive by those unnamed Namekian warriors.
However, a Saiyan's true strength lies in the Oozaru. Goku as an Oozaru was meant to be able to reduce the standing population of the Earth to 0. Raditz, as an Oozaru? Would still have gotten his teeth kicked in by Vegeta, the Saiyan super-elite. He is so ridiculous, he could win a straight fight with the planet-killing Oozaru.
Tumblr media
...I mean, not after being beaten within an inch of his life and taking a Genki-Dama to the face, he can't. But if Vegeta were still at the top of his game, this would be a very different fight.
Meanwhile, the Ginyu Force.
Tumblr media
So. Yeah. By the time we get to them, we are far beyond the ordinary limits of the universe. Saiyans are the strongest race, and Vegeta's pressing up against the limit of Saiyan ability. He's one Zenkai away from breaking through the Saiyan ceiling. Goku already has.
And these mutants they're up against are the most powerful freak aberrations of unexplained super-ki ever to have occurred anywhere in space.
Tumblr media
IIRC it's never directly stated but for reference, Broly would probably be considered a mutant. Whether he is or isn't, he makes as a pretty solid equivalence. These guys are to their respective races what Broly is to Saiyans. What Uub is to humans.
This is all vital context for understanding the way the Ginyu Force fights.
Tumblr media
Because.
Like.
You need to understand.
These guys suck.
Tumblr media
On purpose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From a technical standpoint, they're not good fighters. They're sloppy. Poorly trained around big showy moves that are meant to look cool. Style over substance.
This is because they can get away with it. They are the most powerful beings in the universe; Powerful on a scale that is an order of magnitude beyond everybody else that exists. Even the Saiyans look like shit next to these mutants.
Tumblr media
Saiyan super-elite hits Recoome with everything he's got right in the face at point-blank range.
Tumblr media
And the mutant takes it like a fucking champ. Vegeta's about to be killed by a man who keeps pausing to do this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Ginyu Force is badly trained on purpose. Which isn't to say that they're trained to lose fights, but rather that they aren't trained to compete with an equivalent rival. They can afford a martial style focused entirely on showmanship because there is no competition for them. They're too powerful to ever lose fights. Nobody else in the known universe even compares to their mutant might.
Which, as previously noted, is something Frieza is also afflicted by, in different ways. There is no reason for the Ginyus to hone their skills the way the Earthlings do because. Like. Who's going to challenge them? They're naturally born into being top of the field by a wide margin. They're going to auto-win every fight they ever involve themselves in, so their idea of self-improvement is centered instead on looking as cool as possible while they do it.
This is precisely what the Muten-Roshi worked so hard to prevent Goku from becoming.
Something else I mentioned before is that Trunks demonstrates his serious goal-oriented nature by never naming any of his techniques. He has some distinct and identifiable moves, but none of them have a formal name that he shouts out when firing them. He's here to get the job done, not to show off.
The Ginyus are in the opposite boat. They know they can't lose fights, so they are absolutely, 100% here to show off. They name the shit out of their techniques.
Tumblr media
Flying knee? Nah, bro. That is a Recoome Kick.
Tumblr media
Running in and throwing a punch? Nuh-uh. Recoome Mach Attack.
Tumblr media
Lobbing a ki blast at the opponent? Crusher Ball.
These basic attacks are given huge, flashy names. And, I need to specify, they're English names. Moves like the Kamehameha or Taiyoken or Sokidan or Makankosappo also have names but they tend to be Japanese names with descriptive meanings.
Turtle Destruction Wave, signature move of the Turtle School of martial arts.
Fist of the Sun, an intense blinding art.
Winding Ki Bullet, a remote-operated bullet of ki that Yamcha can manipulate how he likes.
Demon Piercing and Killing Light Gun, a Mazoku technique that pierces and kills.
This is not the same thing. These guys are screaming exotic English words to look cool while throwing hands. "RECOOME KICK!!!" Recoome screams in English as he throws a kick.
There is only one other character in Dragon Ball who fights like this.
Tumblr media
That's right. Recoome Kick is the same kind of thing as Satan Miracle Special Ultra Super Megaton Punch. All shouted in English as well. The Ginyu Force is what Mr. Satan would be if he was as formidable as the world believes he is.
They're showmen, even moreso than the Earthling martial artists who were born for a tournament stage. Hell, some of Recoome's moves are inspired by pro wrestling.
They are the ultimate demonstration, both of the unquestionable might of the Planet Trade's human resources, and of the absolute waste that is the Planet Trade's capitalist philosophy towards martial arts. The PTO doesn't train warriors; They scout the strongest guys their money can buy and give them marching orders of "Get 'em." Their super-elites are no exception.
Except the Captain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much like Vegeta was with Nappa, Ginyu is the only one who gets it. He sees Goku's reading and immediately assesses that Goku's suppressing his ki. Ginyu knows his shit. He's just never drilled this kind of information into his soldiers, opting instead for cool-looking battle poses.
It makes sense that he understands ki suppression. He's Frieza's highest-ranking officer, and Frieza is the universe's unparalleled master at ki suppression. The lengths Frieza has gone to for the sake of suppressing ki....
But he hasn't taught it to his men. They're learning flashy modeling poses instead of martial arts.
I guess I can see the logic. Powerful as they are, why would it matter? Those three extraordinary warriors earlier were also suppressing their ki, but a range of 1k to haha actually 3k doesn't mean shit to the Ginyu Force. If nobody's true strength can match them then why waste time on tactical study?
But unlike his soldiers, Ginyu himself has the spirit of a martial artist. He doesn't waste time on battle poses or scream "GINYU FLYING PUNCH" in English when he throws a punch or do elaborate two-minute windups for his signature moves.
He's even pretty good at reading people. Ginyu lowballs Goku at 60k before the fight, but reassesses after he's traded blows with Goku a few times and estimates 85k instead.
Tumblr media
Goku's official non-suppressed Battle Power at this point in time is 90k. So 85k is a pretty fucking good estimate for a guy who can't sense ki. Ginyu knows his shit. He's as reliant on tech as the rest of the PTO but he's experienced enough to have a strong understanding of what various levels fight like.
This is especially impressive when you remember that he's never fought someone at 90k before. Remember, further up, when he first judged Goku as 60k? He was getting excited about his lowball 60k estimate and saying he's never had a chance like this before.
If he's never fought 60k, he's certainly never fought 85k. He just. Knows enough about how lower levels fight that he can apply that knowledge and extrapolate to higher levels. It's an impressive estimation that demonstrates his experience. Ginyu isn't just the second-most powerful guy in the Planet Trade. He's the best martial artist in the Planet Trade, bar none.
He's also got a... theoretically cool ultimate technique that utterly sucks in practice: Body Change.
Tumblr media
He may be the best martial artist in the Planet Trade but he's got nothing on martial arts master and analytical counter-fighter Son Goku. It takes Goku no time at all to realize that Ginyu's technique sucks. He doesn't know how to fight with Goku's ki.
Ginyu-Goku thinks this body will give him 180k BP because that's what he read on the Scouter when Goku used the Kaio-ken. But not only does Ginyu not know how to perform Kaio-ken, he doesn't even know how to use Goku's ki at all. It's not his. It doesn't work the same way. In Goku's body, Ginyu's reduced to a distressing 23k BP when Jeice reads him.
Tumblr media
He's not just failing to put out Kaio-ken power. He's getting his teeth kicked in by Krillin. It's embarrassing.
I've heard the theory go around that Ginyu started out weak and worked his way up via Body Changing anyone that was ever stronger than him, but I'm not convinced that's the case. Because this right here? This seems like a critical flaw. It's hard to believe he'd be entirely ignorant of this drawback if he's ever seriously used this technique before.
Ginyu being incompatible with a Body Changed host's ki doesn't seem like something an experienced Body Changer would need Goku to explain to him. In practice, the hypothetically awesome technique is bad for reasons Ginyu wasn't able to foresee, not unlike when Tenshinhan brought Shishin no Ken/Multiform to the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. Or Goku's first time attempting Super Saiyan 3 in a living body. Cool in theory but a massive fucking oversight costs him the entire fight.
This seems more likely to be something Ginyu, the only real martial artist in his crew, developed in his own time and showed off to his men. Something he's never actually stress tested, that he's been sitting on and waiting for an opportunity to use in the field.
Whatever the case, it pins an unexpected and interesting capstone on the Ginyu Force. They're a group of clowns who can get away with clownishness because they were born into unparalleled privilege. And they're led by a shockingly well-educated and capable martial artist who's never worked the kinks out of his ultimate technique for lack of adequate competition in a universe that could rarely hope to ever challenge even his weakest man.

Legendary | Chapter Nine
Tumblr media
The evening's festivities ended on a positive note. Eventually, the council began to leave the dining room and return to their homes. Broly stood up from the table, swaying gently from the copious amounts of wine he had drunk. Awkwardly, he pointed to the bathroom to communicate he would be back soon, giving The Grand Elder and me some time to discuss the topics. I stayed seated at the table, hands clasped as I looked up at him. "You wanted to discuss something with me?"
"Your name is Flora? Am I correct?"
"Yes, sir," I responded. "My comrade Broly chose it for me."
He nodded with a smile, slowly rising from his chair at the table. He beckoned me to do the same, so I quickly rose to my feet. "Tell me, my dear, you were a nameless warrior, weren't you? Not one on the side of good until now?"
I nodded softly in agreement, "Yes, sir. Unfortunately, I was, until now, part of the Frieza Force. We would wipe out planets and hunt for remaining Saiyans."
The Grand Elder calmly stepped around the dining room, leading me along to a wall that was coated in carvings. He slowly ran his gigantic hands across them, smirking as he chuckled. He stopped by one just behind where his chair sat, requesting I come forward. "Could you tell me what you see in this carving?"
I bounced over, crouching in front of him as I squinted my eyes. I tried to make sense of what I could see, but as I wrapped my head around it further, I was taken aback. The carving depicted two figures. One was taller than the other. They stood in a victorious pose, the taller one having his foot on a body on the ground. The more you looked at it, the more it made sense. The taller figure was masculine and covered in marks, fluffy hair shaded in with a muscular physique. The smaller of the two was a woman, with shoulder-length black hair, her arm raised high. "That's... that's Broly and me!"
"Yes, my dear," The Grand Elder continued. I stepped back in shock, shaking my head as my hand covered my mouth. "Your arrival was foretold many years ago in a prophecy. You would both protect Namek from the oncoming evil."
I looked up at him as I nodded, "That's why you reached out to us..."
"I could sense your appearance was imminent, so I had to act with haste. The distress signal was a risky move. I'm glad that we timed it just right."
He smiled softly at me as I traced my fingers over the marks on the wall. I was in utter disbelief. I couldn't believe that the Namekians saw us arriving to help for so long. It felt like I had big shoes to fill and a lot of people I couldn't let down. The conversation continued, circling questions that The Grand Elder was keen to ask.
"You don't remember much about your past, do you?"
I squinted as my mouth sat open, trying to physically think, "Uh... I wouldn't say so. All I remember really was waking up one day on a ship on a cold table, and the next day I was thrown in a gym."
"You will find out in due course what brought you to that ship, who brought you there, how long you actually were there for... in due time." He shuffled his feet as he returned to his chair at the head of the dining table. "However, I will inform you that you have family out in our universe."
"I do? A family?" I asked with a raised eyebrow, returning to my chair too.
"Yes. You have an older brother. He's an inhabitant of Planet Earth now."
"Ear...th. I haven't heard of that one."
"It's 48 light-years from here. I predict it would take three years for you to fly from here in the spacecraft you brought here. The engine is better than most other crafts we have seen, although our knowledge may be lacking. If you were to go out there and find him, you may be able to rediscover who you once were."
I nodded. I had family out there? A family I couldn't even remember? The more the conversation went on, the more I began to feel uneasy about my own memories. I couldn't even picture a single family member's face. I couldn't remember. Of course, that wasn't everything he wanted to talk about. The conversation went on much longer to the point I started to get concerned as to where Broly had disappeared to. Maybe in his intoxicated state, he was struggling to find his way back.
"Do you know why Frieza was so afraid of the Saiyans, Flora?"
"I can't say I do. I had it drilled in my head they were evil until I met Broly."
The Grand Elder leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a hushed tone as if sharing a forbidden secret. "The Saiyans were a warrior race, feared across the galaxies for their prowess in battle. But what Frieza feared most wasn't just their strength... it was their potential."
I furrowed my brows, puzzled. "Their potential?"
"Yes," he affirmed, his ancient eyes gleaming with a mixture of wisdom and sorrow. "The Saiyans possessed an ability that Frieza could never control or suppress entirely: the power of transformation. While they could harness their anger and transform into incredible forms, each more formidable than the last, one form surpassed them all. The fabled Super Saiyan."
My breath caught in my throat. "Super Saiyan..."
The Grand Elder nodded gravely. "Yes, a being of immense power, capable of rivalling even the most tyrannical of overlords. Frieza knew that if a Saiyan were ever to achieve this form, his reign of terror would be over. And so, he exterminated their race, or so he thought."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. The weight of the revelation settled heavily upon me. "And Broly... he's a Saiyan. Could he...?"
"It's possible," the Grand Elder admitted. "Though rare, there have been Saiyans who have achieved the legendary transformation. Broly's potential is vast, perhaps greater than even he realizes. But whether he can harness that power for good or succumb to its destructive nature... that remains to be seen."
As the gravity of the situation sank in, I found myself torn between hope and fear. Broly, my comrade, my friend... could he be the key to unlocking a power capable of protecting not just Namek, but the entire universe? He didn't have a bad bone in his body, at least when he has control of it.
"When Broly gets angry he gets so powerful. He emits this energy that would light up the world if it could, it's a bright green aura. He seems to lose all focus on himself. He goes absolutely berserk. What do you think of that, Grand Elder?"
The Grand Elder listened intently, his expression grave yet contemplative. "Flora, what you describe is the hallmark of a Saiyan on the brink of transformation. Broly's power, his uncontrollable rage... it all aligns with the ancient legends of the Super Saiyan."
"But what triggers it?" I asked, concern lacing my voice. "What sets off his transformation?"
The Grand Elder's gaze shifted back to me, his eyes filled with a sadness that seemed to stretch across aeons. "Broly's power is intertwined with a tragic past," he began, his voice heavy with sorrow. "He is the Legendary Super Saiyan, a warrior of unparalleled strength. But his power comes at a great cost."
My heart clenched at his words, a sense of dread settling over me. "What do you mean?"
The Grand Elder took a deep breath as if steeling himself for what he was about to reveal. "Broly's transformation is fueled by the pain and anger he carries within him. It stems from a childhood of torment and betrayal, inflicted upon him by none other than his own father, Paragus."
A gasp escaped my lips as the pieces began to fall into place. Broly's haunted expression, his violent outbursts... it all made sense now. "His father... he did this to him?"
"Paragus saw Broly not as a son, but as a weapon. He exploited his power, manipulated him, and subjected him to unspeakable cruelty in the name of his own ambitions. Broly's rage, his uncontrollable fury... it's a manifestation of the trauma he endured at the hands of his own flesh and blood." The Grand Elder nodded solemnly. "That may be why when Broly was able to reach this form, his father's blood was on his hands. You never know though, he may turn on you next if he can’t get it under control."
I stared at the Grand Elder, my mind reeling with the weight of his words. The revelation of Broly's past cast a dark shadow over my thoughts, illuminating the depths of his suffering and the true extent of his inner turmoil. My heart ached for him, for the pain he had endured and the scars he carried.
"But... can he ever find peace?" I whispered, my voice barely audible in the somber air of the dining room.
The Grand Elder's gaze softened, filled with a profound compassion that seemed to transcend the boundaries of time itself. "Peace is not easily attained, Flora. It is a journey, a path that must be walked with courage and determination. But I believe that with the support of those who care for him, Broly can find solace amid his turmoil."
I nodded, the weight of his words sinking into my soul. Broly, my friend, my comrade... he deserved a chance at redemption and to rise above the darkness that had engulfed his past. And I would stand by his side, unwavering in my commitment to help him find the peace he so desperately sought.
"Thank you, Grand Elder," I said softly, gratitude swelling. "Thank you for your wisdom and guidance, and of course, the wonderful food. I best go find Broly; we should head back to the house for some rest."
The Grand Elder smiled warmly, his ancient eyes twinkling with a gentle light. "It is my honor to offer whatever assistance I can, Flora. Remember, you and Broly are not alone in this journey. The people of Namek stand with you, united in our determination to forge a future of hope and redemption."
With those words echoing in my heart, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together. For Broly, for Namek, and for the countless lives that depended on our strength and courage. Rushing out of the dining room, I found Broly sitting at the top of the grand staircase we had climbed when we arrived. I smiled, settling my hand on his shoulder. In response, he shuffled away. I crouched beside him, looking as he kept his chin against his knees and softly swayed.
"You ready to head home?" I asked softly.
"I feel dizzy," he hiccuped, slowly rising to his feet. I reached out to take his hand again, but again he swiped me away.
"Can't I help you?" I asked.
"No, I can manage," he responded sharply.
Broly's silence on the walk home wasn't out of the ordinary, however, as I kept an eye on him, I could see his face screw up. He started picking up his pace, walking faster than I was. Concerned, I quickened my pace to catch up with Broly, who seemed to be struggling more than usual. His brows furrowed in discomfort, and his steps became unsteady.
"Broly, are you okay?" I asked, reaching out to steady him when I had caught up.
He shrugged off my touch, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. "I'm fine," he muttered, though the strain in his voice betrayed his words.
Something wasn't right. A palpable sense of distress replaced Broly's usual stoic demeanour. I scanned our surroundings, searching for any sign of danger, but the path home appeared tranquil in the moonlit night. He stayed this way the entire walk back; I looked up as he uttered the phrase for the door, staying close to his heels as we went inside together. The sound of a door slamming shut jolted me onto the sofa in the living room as I tried to slip off my shoes.
What was wrong with him?

The Black Star Balls.
The Nameless Namekian made them in a desperate bid to separate his evil half. With the balls taking some of the evil with it.
After being sealed by Kami the balls stewed and grew with darkness until they became their own powerful objects.
After the Nameless Namekian was rejoined the seal was broken with the Supreme Kai not even truly knowing how to remove all the negative energy
If it was sealed again it could simply corrupt the area or be found by unsavory characters.
So they’re in a state of limbo.

ok i know i said i'd take a break before watching dragon ball gt, but i miiiiiight've taken a quick watch of the first episode just to see what it's like, and already i have questions
how were the black star dragon balls made before the nameless namekian split? didn't he only become guardian after splitting into kami and piccolo?
what's stopping goku from using the earth's dragon balls to wish himself to be older again?
regarding the black star dragon balls, i'm fully aware about them being created as a convenient plot device to get goku into space, but the earth exploding after making a wish is kinda dumb. i'm a lil more ok with it since king kai explained that stuff about negative energy, which ties into the later shadow dragons arc, but shouldn't that also mean the negative energy should scale with the selflessness of the wish? pilaf wishing for goku to be a kid again (even if by accident) is pretty selfish to me, so i don't think a lot of negative energy would have been created
as for the balls dispersing across the universe after a wish is made, hm, yeah, given the balls' origin this is pretty silly.
if i had to reimplement the black star dragon balls, i'd have them be the namekians' very first attempt at making dragon balls, where instead of holding on to negative energy, they just disperse it all immediately before flying off across the universe, the negative energy causing namek's disastrous climate shift.
the nameless namekian's ship was meant to both ensure his survival and to fly across the galaxy and collect the dragon balls again, but it was ultimately decided they were too dangerous to use again, so after collecting them all he just locked them away. the namekians later created a second set, scaling back their power and modifying how they work, resulting in the namekian dragon balls. kami later did something similar with earth's dragon balls.
as for why kami's never mentioned the black star dragon balls, he purposefully kept them secret because he knew the z-fighters would be tempted to use them in dire situations, and he didn't want to risk a repeat of what happened to namek all those years ago. the negative energy stuff was never brought up either because, while kami and the kais knew that the earth's dragon balls absorbed negative energy, they didn't think they had a limit to how much they could absorb. they were never meant to be used so frequently, and thus they didn't think to test for this kind of thing
and for why goku would go planet hopping to find the balls, the black star dragon balls are still fully capable of absorbing negative energy, so the plan is to gather them, bring them back to earth, and use them to absorb the negative energy they generated (probably from a more selfless wish) from the earth before it corrupts the planet and blows up. the earth's dragon balls can't be used for this because a set of dragon balls can only absorb the negative energy that specific set created

Could you give me a list of errors that are from GT?
Goodness... I can name some, but I can't think of too many at the moment. And it would require me to rewatch the entire series and I don't want to do that yet lol.
Charactization for most of the cast. Looking specifically at you GT 18 & GT Marron... 😑
Too many plotholes with the Black Star Dragon Balls. {Why did the nameless Namekian make them? Why didn't anyone use them before if they were so easy to find on the Lookout? Why didn't Kami warn anyone about them or destroy them? Why didn't Piccolo say anything after fusing with Kami and living at the Lookout for a while with Dende? How come Dende didn't notice them? Why would the Nameless Namekian make such dangerous Dragon Balls when he wasn't evil? It should've been King Piccolo who made them. Ect, ect.}
Trunks says he could sense Android 17's energy and it was similar to 18's when they have energy that cannot be detected.
They make it like Goku has been gone training Uub the entire time and never visited his family when the original manga has Goku said he will visit them before he leaves to train Uub.
Gohan is always in his Ultimate form and stacks SSJ power on top of it (so says the guidebooks that explain GT Gohan) when that contradicts the original manga.
Why Shadow Dragons all the sudden from wishes and adding new unnecessary rules to the Dragon Balls that don't make sense?
Shouldn't everyone who went to Planet Plant/Planet Vegeta be crushed by the increased gravity unless they were Z Fighters?
Hell in GT contradicts how Hell is in the original manga. Just like how Hell in Z filler & DBZ movies contradicts the original manga. (This is a reason why I say Z filler, DBZ movies, & GT are all in the same continuity. GT even has movie villian escape from Hell.)
Probably a lot of other stuff too. Those are the ones I can think of tho.

What ate your favorite db "non-canon" characters that never appears in DB/Z/GT/S or the movies?
how long ago was this ask. 10000 years ago but i dont ever remember receiving it. where did it come from
Anyways, does this mean like, a character who is Mentioned but never shown? The mere idea of a character? That's pretty complicated.
Yamoshi is interesting, mostly in his relation to the other Ancient Saiyans, Cumber, Shallot, and Giblet. What was he like? Being the first Super Saiyan, what were his ideals like? A mysterious figure indeed.
The Nameless Namekian and his Father, and all the lost peoples of Namek as well. These people all carried on in Piccolo, who isn't even Piccolo, their stories never told as Guru, the last to remember them passed on. A tragedy.

"Don't trouble yourself. This is nothing." He grunted. He's DEFINETLY had worse than this wound across his abdomen. Hurt like hell, but was like a mere paper cut compared to the others inflicted on him.

Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: LIMIT BREAKER AU explanation.
You see, I like Dragon Ball, I also like TOTK (Ancient Hyrule specifically). So why can't I mix these two together?
This version of Hyrule exists within the Dragon Ball universe, as a country on Earth. Zonai, Hylians, Gerudo, Rito, Gorons, Zora, they all exist as species on Earth. Hyrule replaces the Yunzabit Heights. So, I will now quickly go over how this changes the past story of Dragon Ball, and where TOTK fits into the story... ----- Our story begins with the golden goddesses, Din, Nayru, and Farore. They gave the earth its shape and form, and blessed the land. Although, the goddesses only received those names from the mortals who lived on Earth, to others, they were simply known as the Kais, East, West, and South. These kais blessed the earth with a gift, the Triforce, three sacred symbols that would imbue anyone who obtained one with courage, power, or wisdom. If one were to get all three, they'd be able to wish upon them, granting them whatever they wished for. The triforce would then split apart, and the three parts would find another spot on earth to rest.
The kais watched as the early races began to tear themselves apart when the triforce was discovered, wars began, and the earth seemed to be doomed to destruction. In an attempt to prevent the earth from being destroyed, the three kais sealed away the triforce, and secluded themselves from Earth, leaving the planet alone, but not before appointing someone to watch over the triforce. In the skies above Earth lived a race of goat like creatures, the Zonai. This race had been one of the first created by the kais, and in turn they had a greater connection to them. They would guard the triforce, and in turn, guard the earth itself. Many years later, in the land of Hyrule, a ship landed on a barren plateau, and from it came a small, nameless namekian. He'd be all alone for many years, not many races called the Hyrule home, there were rock people who lived in the fiery volcanoes to the northeast, bird people in the ice cold mountains in the northwest, fish people in the waters of the southeast, and the mysterious Gerudo who lived in the deserts of the southwest. He doesn't interact with any of the races, but one does spot him.
The ever watchful Zonai could sense the massive spike in power in Hyrule. Wondering what this could've been from, the guardian of earth keeps a close eye on hyrule, and spots the being responsible for this power spike. A strange green creature...clearly not from earth, but its origin is unknown to them. They watched as the creature got into a scuffle with one of the many monsters in Hyrule, a Lynel. The creature was able to win, but suffered a nasty injury, leaving it with memory loss. Years later, the creature would leave Hyrule all together, seeking adventure across the world.
The world was not right however, many still remembered the triforce, and the power that it gave to whoever found it. War still raged across the globe, and as the nameless namekian traversed it, his heart began to grow darker. This worried the Zonai, this creature had only grown stronger, not even their greatest zonai warriors could hope to harm him now. If he were to lose himself to evil, then the earth would be doomed. They had to intervene, so the guardian of earth summoned the namekian to the sky islands, in an effort to try and purify the evil in his heart.
Once on the sky islands, the guardian of earth, and other Zonai would attempt to use their sealing light to seal away the darkness within the namekian. They weren't able to, the power of the namekian was too great, and in a last ditch effort to save Hyrule, the guardian of earth used the Triforce, and wished for the evil side of the namekian to be sealed away, but even this couldn't be done, the power was still to great, even for the triforce. So, in one last attempt, the guardian asked for the good side of the namekian to be separated from the evil side. This was able to be done, and the nameless namekian split into two.
One side would be raised by the Zonai, to be like them, the other was cast down to the earth, still unable to be killed or sealed by the Zonai. Over many years, the good half would be given the name of Kami by the Zonai, while the evil side would earn the name Piccolo by anyone unlucky enough to cross his path. Kami would quickly rise up the ranks of the Zonai, soon becoming the next in line for becoming the guardian of earth. Piccolo though, would feel bitter and spiteful against the zonai for abandoning him.
So, after many years, Piccolo began his rampage, casting all of hyrule, then all of the earth into an eternal darkness. Piccolo would find his way up to the sky islands, and would begin his slaughter of the zonai. Due to this, the sky islands would fall to the earth, landing on the plateau the Nameless Namekian's ship landed on so many years ago. The demon king was eventually sealed by a joint effort from one of the last remaining zonai, a young Rauru, and a human martial arts master, Master Mutaito. Together, with Rauru's sealing magic, they created the mafuba, and sealed away the demon king.
After the battle, only one sky island remained, and 2 zonai remained. The two zonai wouldn't want to return to the heavens, instead, wishing to live in the remains of their homes, they moved to Hyrule. Kami, who also survived, didn't wish to leave the sky islands, as with the death of the previous Guardian of Earth, he took that role. He renamed the last sky island "Kami's lookout" and in turn became the guardian of the triforce. Years later, Kami would create the dragon balls, this was to give the people of earth a way to grant wishes, but not as strong as the Triforce.
During this time, Rauru and Mineru had begun to grow up, soon reaching adolescence. They were seen as gods by the hylians that lived on the great plateau, and that wasn't for nothing. Before the sky islands fell, the zonai had created sacred stones that enhance the strength of anyone who uses one. Not just physical strength, but a special strength to whoever wielded one. Most were shattered and lost when Piccolo attacked, leaving only 7 remaining. Rauru and Mineru held two of them, Rauru's stone enhanced his cleansing light, and Mineru's enhanced her spirit control.
So, for a while, it seemed like there would be peace across the globe...until the birth of a male gerudo.
----
The tales of the demon king had spread across the world, most knew of him, and in the land of the gerudo, this was no different. Ganondorf, the first male gerudo in generations was born, and so, was given the role of chief at a young age. It was stressful, but through his sheer will and determination, he was able to become a successful chief, and as any good leader, he wanted his people to flourish. That's when he heard of the demon king, a powerful warrior who was able to claim cities, and nearly the entire world, but was stopped before he could, by a human, and a strange, goat like person.
If he became a demon king, he could give his people better land, more power, and in turn better lives. Of course, he'd be a target, so he couldn't just run out and declared himself as the demon king and start attacking cities. He needed to walk before he ran, so instead, he planned on taking over hyrule. So he began to study all the races in hyrule, the Rito, the Zora, the Gorons, the Hylians...and two Zonai? Ganondorf was surprised, he knew of the zonai, the gerudo were excellent scholars after all, but there was two of them left, and they were here of all places? So, he began to do more research on his foes, and would begin to set up a plan, a plan that wouldn't begin for many...many years.
--- That's it for now, and to quickly go over some stuff you can expect from this AU: Yes, Goku will be in this. Things will change with relationships in dragon ball z (Hint, Vegeta ends up meeting Mineru instead of Bulma) Rauru going Super Zonai 1 happens in the Cell/Android Saga Master Roshi and Elder Kai have had their *ahem* "Special personality traits" removed because I ain't writing that shit.

By the way, while we're talking about Gohan, Piccolo, and that moment, I want to take a moment to focus in on what he says here. Because it's fascinating to really stop and think about.
In his dying moments, Piccolo says this to Gohan.
Tumblr media
"You were the only one who ever really talked to me."
Piccolo's existence is so complicated at this point that there's some ambiguity here. The first person ever to really talk to him. That's a bold statement. What does he mean by that?
What does Piccolo mean when he says "ever"? Let's stop to really think about that.
The first interpretation is that he's referring to this incarnation of himself. Going back to the day he was "born" anew.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love how he was born wearing clothes apparently. Maybe he popped out of that egg and immediately used his signature Clothes Beam, an obscure technique but a valuable one.
Tumblr media
For real, Piccolo's ability to create matter from ki is probably the most underutilized ability in Dragon Ball. This is, like, the one and only time we ever see it. It is never explained. Even Cell wound up having to create his arena from existing resources nearby.
Tumblr media
But I digress.
Piccolo was reborn to finish the work he'd started: Kill Son Goku and take over the world. The 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai was his opportunity to do just that.
Tumblr media
So. When Piccolo says "ever", he's talking about this, right? He talks to attendees at the tournament but their interactions are strictly hostile. He's here to kill Goku; He's not interested in socializing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the closest thing to a friendly chat that this incarnation of Piccolo ever had prior to Gohan's training. So it's easy to hear him say "You were the only one who ever really talked to me," and go, "Yeah, that checks out." Though that's not really their fault.
But. Hang on. Piccolo's sense of self goes back further than that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Majunior" is always referred to and always refers to himself as though he and Piccolo-Daimao were one and the same. He is not Piccolo's son. He's a copy, splintered off from the Daimao and given a new body.
Kami explains it like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Effectively, Daimao split himself in two. One piece of him created the egg and sent it across the horizon for the other piece to escape inside, and that piece hatched into "Majunior".
It's a popular fanon to treat Piccolo Jr. like he's a totally newborn baby saddled with the Sins of the Father, but this is never how the source material treats him. Piccolo is Piccolo is Piccolo; the two are one and the same. Except one's a Mazoku and the other is not.
A revelation that comes at the cost of Goku and Raditz's lives.
Tumblr media
So when he says "You were the only one who ever really talked to me," he's probably not talking about this incarnation. He's probably reaching all the way back to the birth of Piccolo as an entity.
Tumblr media
When the Nameless Namekian ascended to the throne of God, he had to purge himself of the evil that had accumulated in his soul. That evil took form and shape, and it became Piccolo.
Given the description of Piccolo having "escaped", it sounds like they tried to imprison him moments after he first came into being. Makes sense; He's literally evil incarnate. A half-person Mazoku formed of pure evil, incapable of moral agency. Why would you want to let that loose?
But they failed. Piccolo got free and descended from Heaven into the human realm to wreak untold havoc upon humanity.
Tumblr media
So. Y'know. Nobody's out there having civil chats with that.
...
But. Hang on. Piccolo's sense of self goes back even further than that, doesn't it? After all. As much as "Majunior" is a fragment of Piccolo-Daimao, Piccolo-Daimao too is a fragment of the Nameless Namekian, and he retains that knowledge, memory, and experience as well.
Tumblr media
When Piccolo and God begin to speak candidly with one another in the ring, they don't speak Japanese. Instead, they're speaking their own language. A language not of this Earth. With courtesy translation for the audience.
They are speaking the Namekian language. A language from a race neither Piccolo nor God even knows exists. This is confirmed by Bulma and Popo, when they discover the Nameless Namekian's spacecraft.
Tumblr media
This was the first language Piccolo ever knew, in the very first incarnation of himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn't God's history he's sharing. It's theirs, his and Piccolo's together.
Because Piccolo is pure evil. But he isn't. Like. The concept of evil. He is Nameless's evil. The corruption, the bitterness and resentment and fear and anger and uncertainty and despair that's cultivated in his heart over a lifetime of loneliness and isolation.
A Ryuzoku Namekian, child of Katatsu, sent to Earth to escape a climate catastrophe that destroyed their planet and killed their entire race, but two. An orphaned child landing in a deserted wasteland with nothing but an empty promise from a parent who would never make the trip.
We don't know what happened between then and his ascension to Godhood. All we know is that these days were spent alone. And a worm of evil grew in his heart.
This, it should be noted, is not standard procedure for becoming God. When Dende took the throne, he did not have to do anything to purify himself.
Tumblr media
That's basically the entire vetting procedure for Dende's ascension.
The way God describes the process, creating Piccolo was something unique to his experience, because his predecessor had noticed a growing darkness unworthy of God inside of him.
I legitimately wonder if God spit Piccolo out as an egg, the way he later spit out the egg of his copy.
In the Namekian language, the word "Piccolo" means "Another world".
Tumblr media
It's a word that Nameless knew intimately. Not just because it's from the first spoken language he ever knew. But because that voice command opened and closed his home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every day of his lonely life, waiting for a parent that would never come, this is how he came and went. Piccolo as he goes out and Piccolo again once he steps outside. Piccolo on his return and Piccolo once he's safe inside the only home he knows. Piccolo, Piccolo. Piccolo, Piccolo. This word defined his childhood.
This word was the only parent he had.
When he fractured, breaking off the darkness in his soul and externalizing it into a new body, that body took Piccolo as his name.
Tumblr media
This has been his existence, since before he could remember. The life of a Namekian whose name has been lost to time. The man who became the man who became Piccolo. God, in his temple in heaven, has Popo by his side to offer companionship and assistance. But for the life he lived before that and for the part of him that fractured off, not once in this long and winding 300-year journey has he ever had a friend.
So when you really stop and take a look at where not just the original Piccolo but the original came from, at the foundation of where Piccolo truly began, those words take on a bit of a different meaning, don't they?
When Piccolo says, "You were the only one who ever really talked to me," that cuts a little deeper when you stop to really think about it.

The Ultimate Form, Its Evolutions, And How It Lives Up To Its Name (DBS: Super Hero Spoilers Ahead)
Tumblr media
Dragon Ball is a show with many different power altering techniques and transformations, from Kaioken to Super Saiyan to even fusion. Knowing this, many characters use these different forms and techniques in their goal of attaining further strength. But which is the best and why is it the best? If you were to ask me, that honor would go to the Ultimate form.
The Ultimate form has been and is known as many things throughout Dragon Ball’s lifespan: Potential Unleashed, the Mystic form, Power Unleashed, Power Awakening, and obviously Ultimate. Essentially, the form draws out all of a person’s hidden potential and even heightens a person's senses, as Gohan was able to see without his glasses after transforming in Super Hero, but his eyesight reverted to being poor once he powered back down into his base form. As if that wasn’t enough, the form seemingly doesn’t take any stamina away from the wielder to use. The form is typically gained through enduring Elder Kai’s ritual, but Piccolo showcased the ability to be granted the form from Shenron via a wish.
In no uncertain terms, the power that this transformation can grant its user is absurd. Gohan was able to outclass Super Saiyan 3 Goku’s power as soon as he received the form, beat Super Buu before he absorbed Gotenks, and after further training in Dragon Ball Super it was shown to be able to keep up with Super Saiyan Blue.
As if the form wasn’t crazy enough, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero gave us the fun information that just like Super Saiyan, the Ultimate form can evolve into separate, more powerful transformations. While this has caused some confusion in the fanbase, as the Ultimate form is already supposed to draw out all of a person’s latent potential, episode 90 of the DBS anime implies that Super Saiyan can be combined with the Ultimate form.
Tumblr media
My point being that just because the Ultimate form brings out all of your latent potential doesn’t mean that your power can’t be further amplified. That being said, I think that’s what these evolved forms are doing: simply amplifying the user’s power after bringing forth their latent potential.
But that’s not all these evolved forms have to offer. When I said “just like Super Saiyan, the Ultimate form can evolve into separate, more powerful transformations”, I didn’t mean something like an Ultimate 2, Ultimate 3, etc etc, I meant that everyone who evolves their Ultimate form gets a transformation (seemingly) entirely unique to them. While it’s never directly stated why in Super Hero, I think the reason is pretty obvious: the transformations are themed around the sources of the character’s potential, and different character’s potentials come from different places. Gohan’s Beast form is unlocked in a moment of rage at seeing Piccolo hurt by Cell Max, just like the rage boosts he would experience as a child.
Tumblr media
Piccolo’s potential comes from his Namekian heritage, but more specifically, his fusions with Nail and Kami. Think about it: his Orange form was granted to him by Shenron, the eternal dragon originally created by the Nameless Namekian who would eventually split into Piccolo and Kami. By fusing back with Kami, that means that Piccolo has returned to being the Nameless Namekian, so Shenron helping out his creator with a new transformation makes sense. You could also argue that Piccolo’s fusions not only made him stronger in the moment, but increased his potential, allowing him to grow further and faster than he would have been able to without undergoing them, but that’s a discussion for another time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It should come as a shock to no-one reading that these transformations are ridiculously powerful. Given how Gohan’s Ultimate form allowed him to keep pace with Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue, amping the power of the form beyond that is insane to think about, and it’s no small amp either. Before Gohan obtained the form, he seemed pitiful in comparison to Cell Max, but once he transformed he was able to tank a punch from Cell Max without even flinching. I think it’s safe to say that the amp in power provided by Gohan’s Beast form outclasses the amp that Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken x20 amp gives him, which putting it simply means that I think that Beast’s amp is greater than x20 the power Gohan’s Ultimate form provides him.
Orange Piccolo isn’t as powerful as Gohan, but that doesn’t mean he’s a slouch either. The Orange form gives Piccolo enough power to easily defeat Gamma 2, who was stronger than him in his Ultimate state. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the Gammas are stronger than Android 17 who, get this, was also able to fight evenly with Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue form. Given how Orange Piccolo knocked out Gamma 2 with one punch, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that Piccolo’s Orange form gives him a similar amp to Gohan’s Beast form. I’m not saying that Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan are equal in power, just that the amp their forms provide are similar.
So let’s summarize the main points just to make sure we got everything nice and tidy: the Ultimate form draws out all of the user’s latent potential with minimal to no stamina usage which can be further amplified by other powers, such as Super Saiyan. The form can also evolve into a new, unique form depending on the source of your potential, and these evolved states amplifies the user’s already drawn out power to ludicrous levels.
And that does it, really. That’s why I think Ultimate is the, well, ultimate form to strive for to increase your power in the world of Dragon Ball. I don’t really know how to end this other than saying that this is just my interpretation of the forms based on the information I know about Dragon Ball and that if you have a different interpretation then more power to you. I’m not trying to convince anyone that they have to agree with me, just sharing my own personal thoughts and ideas. I plan to write more short essay stuff like this as well, I think my next one will be talking about the human Z-Fighters!
If you’ve read this far, thank you so much! This is the first time I’ve ever sat down and wrote something like this and while I’m not expecting it to do super well, it’s cool knowing that maybe someone will read it and agree with me. If you see this, have a great day!
