Ok I might be reading too much into this but in the episode of King of the Hill where Nancy Gribble and John Redcorn end their affair, we kind of get a glimpse into how they were both justifying what they were doing.

Nancy probably felt that Dale was too distant and uncaring, and that idea keeps "proving" itself to her because she keeps spending less time with him. But when they go out on the date night with Hank and Peggy, she remembers that in spite of his many, many flaws, he can be sweet and romantic and loving.

John Redcorn probably saw it as some way of getting even for how his people and culture have suffered because of colonialism. This gets countered when Dale tells him about how he can use FOIA to dig up stuff he could use to help fellow Native Americans. Dale even explicitly says he thinks they should put an end to the conflict between their cultures in favor of sticking it to the federal government.

And the hilarious irony of it all, of course, is that Dale inadvertently salvaged his marriage and gained the trust and respect of a friend without ever realizing that he didn't already have those things. And if you want to read even more into it, the whole thing kicked off because Hank had propane concerns and accidentally saved his client's life. I guess the theme I'm getting from this is that using the things you care about to show kindness to others is how you get peace and love on planet earth

It would be funny that if in the continuation Joseph really is Dale’s son and Nancy wasn’t lying about Dale having a black grandma or whatever the lie was. Because either they just let that kid eat paint chips or he’s actually Dale’s son.

Dale Gribble does not know about Nancy cheating, at least not like consciously.

The simple reason is because the joke is he's this conspiracy theorist who thinks he's super hyper-observant and aware of what's going on, but he can't see what's right under his nose. I just think it would detract from his character if he knew the whole time.

The more complex reason is like... so hear me out. KOTH does touch upon like, emotional repression in the guys sometimes, more so with Hank but I do think it extends to Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer too, it's just not explicitly touched upon as much as it is with Hank. Dale has basically said he doesn't wanna end up like Bill. Bill kind of wallows in his own sadness but I do think a lot of the problem here is there is straight up no emotional support for him, like his only constant is drinking beer in the alley with 3 other men who don't talk feelings. I'm not sure if Bill would get help if it was accessible, but the issue is that it was never present from the start, and talking emotions has been so discouraged that I don't think he had much of a chance from the start. Anyway.

This brings me back to Dale. I truly do not think that man is equipped to handle news like his wife has been cheating on him for 12 years. He's pretty paranoid and emotionally unstable at times like I just don't think he would be able to keep his cool if he did find out like I think he'd be just like Bill, really.

However I do think he knows deep down, because there's that episode where he donates his kidney and when he's coming to afterwards he's mumbling about John Redcorn being in their shower like, and Hank ends up cutting that short but there's also the other episode where he talks about how he thinks Joseph isn't his son because he's an alien? Like. He needs this to be true. He knows something is up, he knows Joseph isn't his biological kid, and he's so scared of becoming like Bill, and losing the good gig he has now that he's completely shut the idea of Nancy cheating down, and constructed this reality for himself.

He really places trust in the people he's close to, like a few episodes surrounding Dale have Hank or someone betraying his trust and how Dale takes this, and he's normally pretty heartbroken and takes it badly, like in the Mason Lawnmower ep he gets all dishevelled and doesn't sleep in days, and is really upset when it's revealed his friends betrayed him at the end. If it came out that Nancy had betrayed him, I really don't think he would take it so well to be able to think that tactically about it.

So yeah, I don't personally think he knows, I think he lives in a constant state of denial and repression and he copes with his hobbies and hyperfixations. Honestly, just like me fr.

Wait a minute, Bobby's middle name is Jeffrey...is he named after Boomhauer?? Boomhauer's first name is Jeffrey and Hank says that Boomhauer has known Peggy longer than Hank has, so it would make sense if both of them have a strong relationship with him they'd want to give his name to Bobby
