was feeling somewhat neutral about S/ cottish i/ ndependence last night until i thought it through and now I'm back on my previous position which is that it has fuck all to do with s/ocialism and I'm extremely uninterested in it.

basing your politics around the establishment and enforcement of a nation state is a distraction and ultimately just another form of authority to subdue the working class even if you paint nice platitudes over it in politics although they can't even do that now given the verdict on rent freezing this morning. i know it's big on here for some reason it's aesthetically pleasing and an easy answer i guess but as someone who lives in the country don't buy into that shit. we're a deeply conservative and racist island with barely an acknowledgement of the damage we wrought on the world during the b/ ritish e/ mpire, any promises that we're more ~progressive are delusional. we have the capacity to change but as someone who leans towards left-a/narchism i see that as more likely to happen through solidarity with our neighbours, getting rid of 'othering' those of our fellow class, and rejecting pillars of authority like borders and governmental institutions who are fundamentally corrupt and hungry for power. we see it time and time again with our government and i just don't know why you'd hand them the keys to power and pretend it's something more than that.

i know i sound a bit intense here but if you're a follower you're welcome to ask me questions about it in the DMs and i can do my best to answer, because beyond my hell island it's had basically uncritical coverage in online ~lib/progressive spaces and you're about to see a lot more of it around
