I just realized I forgot to share my reaction to Andor episode 8, in which Cassian is put away and forced to help the Empire build giant fidget spinners for unknown yet surely nefarious purposes.

Andor's Narkina-5 Arc Parallels the Rise of the Rebellion
Andor’s Narkina-5 Arc Parallels the Rise of the Rebellion
Editor’s Note: The following includes spoilers from Episode 1-10 of Andor. From the children taken away to become soldiers to the planets exterminated by the Death Star and the Starkiller Base, Star Wars has always made it pretty clear how terrifying it is to live under the Empire’s rule. However, the full extent of the Empire’s cruelty towards its people was always left to the fans’…

@saradika wrote a Kino Loy fic called hoping against hope. Gorgeously written about Kino Loy AFTER the escape from Narkina5 and makes it back home to his wife. It’s so powerful and emotional and shows his POV and hers.
Oh my GOD THIS IS SO BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN. One thing I've loved about Andor is it's got a more ground-level feel, so to speak, and I find stories like Kino's so interesting because of that. Like he's a normal every day guy that got caught up in the space fascism machine and adapted the best way he knew how. And this fic from J just gives more depth to his backstory and is so heartbreaking and just absolutely stunning in the way she wrote it. Both perspectives were just astoundingly tragic, but the ending is hopeful. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I cannot rave about it enough. Thank you so much for rec'ing it!
Participate in Fandom Friday to show your favorite creators from this week some love! :)

The reason why the crimes of the men in Narkina5 don’t matter to the empire is because they are inhumane, they will do whatever they need to ensure the fear they need to keep control.
The reason why the crimes of the men in Narkina5 don’t matter to US or to any of them is because no crime justifies literal slavery. No crime justifies instant death to a person who didn’t get to their cell in time. No crime justifies putting people to live in a soulless white maze where food has no taste and no one knows where you are.
