takes you out for a lovely candlelit dinner to top it all off, gifts you a rose, and kisses you goodnight, praying fervently this birthday was a success all the while.

nazuna starts your day by making you breakfast in bed. in the ultimate test of his skill as a cook, he prepares all your favourites—fruits cut into cutesy shapes, jars of condiments on the side, and a mug of a steaming hot drink.

then, he gifts you with a morning kiss. happy birthday, love! punctuated with a chaste peck on your lips.

he’s prepared to do whatever you want today! want to go somewhere nice? he’ll use his privileges as an idol to find the nicest things for you. tickets to an amusement park, a table at the fanciest restaurant around; you name it and he'll get it! or maybe you just want to chill and watch a movie at home? he’s cool with that too! just a giant tub of popcorn is shared between you two, tall cups of your favourite drinks and a blanket to cuddle under.

general opinion - miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa oh my god oh my god MIKA he's one of the enstars characters that is a prime example of just how much of a miracle the character design (visually and written) in this game is to fit so specifically with my tastes- from an aesthetic stand point, the heterochromia compliments his otherwise very average looking design perfectly he is standing out now you are looking at him with interest

the thing he has going on initially? mf willing abuse victim ass? a doll to be pupeteered, a doll to be tampered with? actually incredible we all know this but i fucking loooove doll motifs and marionette themes

moving past that though, he is (and always has been) such a menhera yami kawaii pastel goth type which is SOO FUCKIN COOL for an anime boy, not at all something i was used to seeing before him and my base infatuation with pastel/candy gore from when i was 12 has left me realistically unable not to be obsessed with him now.

favorite thing about them: she took her trauma and guilt and transformed it into a positive force to help others and make sure no one ever feels alone in the world or like life isn’t worth living... it means so much to me! (for personal reasons that you know very well). also the way her character arc isn’t about being trans, her big angsty reveal isn’t related to her being trans. her personality and character arc influence how she lives her gender through the course of the year(s), but her gender expression is only one of the things that are influenced by that. 

least favorite thing about them: she should learn to accept love and happiness into her life :( she compromises too much for others’ sake and tends to chase people she knows won’t love her back because she’s afraid of losing someone again... oof. also she should stand her ground more and not let people treat her Like That pretending to be ok with it. OH AND THIS APPLIES TO PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE IN KNIGHTS stop being mean about tsukasa’s weight let the boy eat and if anything try to consider Why he’s eating so much instead please :(

brOTP: she and anzu are super good and i love their relationship! she can befriend literally anyone honestly. the ones i’m most emotional about lately are mitsuru (who is just... so sweet to both her and adonis i’m just ; __ ; at that tiny family dynamic there), adonis and hokke in the latest event (find a more unexpected and funnier trio i’ll wait), and knights. also madara would literally kill for her and i support him! 

OTP: narumika... they just care about each other so much and comfort each other through everything it’s super sweet. also they exchanged gifts on both valentine’s day and white day!! love is real. her and anzu are very cute too :)! 

nOTP: even ignoring how he treated her earlier on izumi is gay. why would you do that 

random headcanon: she stress-bakes... she just looks like she does. it creates a perfect ecosystem in knights considering tsukasa stress eats, ritsu and izumi just get very excited about cooking, and leo loves eating the dough.

“Tell me—if I told you that I loved you, what would you say?”

When he speaks, it’s slowly, hesitantly. It’s as though he’s carefully thinking through everything before it leaves his lips. You chew on the inside of your cheek as you think his words over. What brought this on, you wonder.

Kaoru braces his forearms against the rail of the balcony, leaning forwards as though he might tip over the edge and let himself fall. Right into the crashing waves below, a suffocating hug. You blink and there he is, his body torn to pieces by the cutting rocks, his blood webbing across the surface of the ocean. You blink and there he is, the salty sea breeze tousling his hair and brushing against his cheeks in a loving caress.

You find yourself jealous.

To be able to touch him so tenderly… You can, if you want to. You just have to reach out. There is nothing stopping you except your fear of interpreting everything—his smiles, his touches, his words—wrong.

You’ve never thought yourself a coward before, but Kaoru is something precious to you and to lose him would…well, maybe not destroy you. You’re not so naïve that you think a broken heart is the same thing as the end of the world.

Still, it would hurt all the same.

He watches you with furrowed brows as you force your wandering thoughts back into some semblance of order, probably trying to glean what information he can from the emotions that show on your face. You giggle then, eyes bright; is this a confession?

Maybe, he replies, face blank, not betraying anything. Maybe.

Oh. You mouth the words, surprised despite yourself.

Then he smiles, a little dreamily. He looks wistful when he stares at you, like you can’t possibly be real. There’s a little bit of that in his eyes right now. It settles amongst the glints of gold in his sweet-grey eyes: here is a boy destined to be lonely, or so he thinks.

Here is a boy you love, lonely no more.

Your fingers twitch at your sides. In your chest, your heart gives a squeeze, aching with want. To reach out, to draw him close. Not yet, though. Not yet.

“Well,” You begin, testing the words on your tongue. “You’ll have to be a little clearer. Because if this is a hypothetical situation, as you say it is… If you’d confessed to me, hypothetically,” The emphasis you place on the word makes it clear you don’t believe that is truly the case. “I would’ve say yes.”

Now it’s his turn to startle, eyes suspiciously bright. He smiles once more, just as wistful, then turns his head to face the ocean once more. A single tear trickles down his cheek, and you step forwards to brush it away. “Crybaby,” You tease, fond as ever. Kaoru laughs wetly.

“Cut me some slack. The person I love told me they love me back. I’m allowed to get a little emotional.”

“Mm,” You hum, tracing the lines of his face with your thumbs. He leans into your hold, like a cat would. His eyeslids flutter shut, he watches you through his feathering lashes. The two of you stand there, silently, as the sun goes down.

No longer lonely, no longer breathless.

Is it possible to yearn for someone who is already yours?

Subaru asks himself this question on the daily. It should not be possible—after all, to love is to belong. Heartstrings intertwined, the red thread of fate connecting you.

He loves you. He always has. He always has. It’s hard not to, after all. Your smile could devastate cities. You’re blinding. His soul is bonded to yours.

And yet.

There is an ache, something that he cannot quell. It forces him to reevaluate, to think. What if that love is simply not enough? It hurts, sometimes. All those things he cannot say, words swallowed up by the void of emptiness that is the thought of life without you. I don’t think this is working out. I’m sorry.

I don’t think I love you anymore.

But that’s a lie, isn’t it? Because he does, he does, he knows he does. What is he, without you? His heart aches; tell me, what is the difference between love and ruin?

You walk a fine line, a razor’s edge—that reckless, heady feeling. Throwing yourself into your own destruction. It’s dangerous, so very dangerous. To love is to lose, but he has lost enough already, hasn’t he? Subaru wonders if he’s just getting stuck in his own head.

Tell me, tell me. What does it mean when love just isn’t enough anymore? Was your love ever real in the first place? His heart cracks, breaks, shatters. He cries, folding his arms around himself. Daikichi noses at him, whining softly. Where is it, he says, to the empty air. Where is my love?

I don’t want to be alone, he had said once, and that is the crux of the matter. He loves and loves and loves and he loses and loses and loses. He has done it all, loved and lost in equal measure. Trickstar, the brightest star, Polaris, a guiding light; but who will help the boy in need of guidance?

He gets on his knees, prays. Father, who art in Heaven. He’s not religious. Still, the first time he ever heard those words, he felt them resonate with him. My father, in Heaven. Tell me, tell me. You gave up everything for what you loved. Am I destined to do the same?

I love you, Subaru says, desperately.

(Please believe me.)

You smile, Mona Lisa reborn. I know.

So why? He asks, pained.
