covid 19 is making a resurgence in some towns and most cities, and for many the boosters are waning in efficiency. As well, a new strain of Omicron has hit the populace pretty hard, and ICUs appear to have a strain through admitted patients.
If you are due for a booster or have not gotten updated since your second booster (following an initial covid vaccination), then you need to get in and have your booster. As long as you can safely do so, and be certain that you have been wearing your mask and safe distancing a week or so prior, or speak with a doctor or pharmacists regarding if it is safe or not.
The third and forward boosters are much easier to deal with than the second, but you still need to be cautious of vaers affects and mindful of allergies. My sister, who has developed allergies to topical antiseptic ointments, metal, and some adhesives, did well with her updated booster last May. That is a good sign, but always be vigilant as our chemistry and bodies are different, and the illusive nature of this covid virus can prime for unforeseen affects.
Your health is important, and there are legit resources available through non-profit medical sites and publications of current information available through the National Library of Medicine, WebMd, PubMed, CDC VAERS.

The ongoing concern for loss of taste and smell or anosmia persists, and there is no guarantee if Omicron or Covid 19 are either a more greater risk to this crisis in millions.
Wear your mask. Social distance. Wash your hands. Be safe.

'Beyond the banality of evil: three dynamics of an interactionist social psychology of tyranny' Authors: S. Alexander Haslam/University of Exeter Stephen Reicher/University of St. Andrews
'Psychologists, Carnahan and McFarland critique the situationist account of the Stanford prison experiment by arguing that understanding extreme action requires consideration of individual characteristics and the interaction between person and situation. Haslam and Reicher develop this argument in two ways.
First, they reappraise historical and psychological evidence that supports the broader "banality of evil" thesis-the idea that ordinary people commit atrocities without awareness, care, or choice. Counter to this thesis, they show that perpetrators act thoughtfully, creatively, and with conviction.
Second, drawing from this evidence and the BBC [British Broadcasting Corporation] Prison Study, they make the case for an interactionist approach to tyranny that explains how people are:
(a) initially drawn to extreme and oppressive groups,
(b) transformed by membership in those groups, and
(c) able to gain influence over others and hence normalize oppression. These dynamics can make evil appear banal but are far from banal themselves.'

Mayerle’s Lithographed International Test Chart, 1907
Optometrist George Mayerle combined an array of eye tests on a single chart that, he boasted, was “accurate, artistic, ornamental, practical and reliable.” Marketing the chart to fellow practitioners, he promised that it “makes a good impression and convinces the patient of your professional expertness.”
Tumblr media
Mayerle’s chart was two-sided, reproducing the chart with a black background on the opposite side.

here we are caught in the wildfire...
I’ve never played a song on repeat as much as Mandolin Orange’s Wildfire—lyrics by Andrew Marlin. This haunting piece weaves in and out of history through our nation’s fight for independence, the civil war, and the lyricist’s own present-day sorrows. From the ashes grew sweet libertyLike the seeds of the pines when the forest burnsThey open up to grow and burn again The harmonies of Andrew…

Apparently, in Japan, there’s this thing called “hikikomori.”
“Hikikomori,” according to the National Library of Medicine, is a form of “severe social withdrawal.” The term is derived from the verb hiki, meaning “to withdraw,” and komori, “to be inside”. It reportedly affects 1.5 million working-age people in Japan, according to a recent government survey.
Filing this under Strange Stuff I Stumble Into At Work.

The study of covid19 gets really fucking confusing at times.
I’ll have a vascular article that says, “No, we studied covid and it is not attacking the inner vascular tissue - endothelial cells.” 2021
But then I’ll find case studies on National Library of Medical, “covid targets endothelial cells and is most lethal to those with cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, diabetus, and etc - and we don’t tink enough about that.” 2022
I do foresee an issue of covid original and delta possibly having a epidemic in future in larger cities, due to the anti-vaxxers mantra - “I had it already so I can’t get it again.” While people contract the Omicron in mass, and mistaken immunity from one variant as a free pass to the other. Slather on an unhealthy dose of vaccine efficiency waning in those who have not had a second or third booster following the initial vaccine course.
All with the redacting of good health in those aging and rates of reinfection spiking.
Back in 2020 I had a guy brag at me, “I had covid three times and I’m perfectly healthy.”
I... do not think this person understood what immunity means. You get rhino virus maybe once a year, have a week of inconvenience, done. Immunity for the year. Unless you have the immune system of a dumpster fire, a person should no be contracting the same stupid infection 9 times a year before we had a mountain of variants to collect like a happy meals toy.
Please get yourself boosted if you haven’t already - especially if you are high risk. Wear a fucking mask. Asymptomatic + a positive test does not mean you can relax and go wild. You need to wear that mask and drink fluids and keep an eye on your health, and try and get some extra rest and remember you can slip into symptomatic if you are not careful.
People with immunity compromise and our healthcare workers are still dying or being severely maimed by the covid and it variant supply. The majority of people I see who have prelude symptoms of covid are the non mask wearers, and the variants are spreading. Delta is still lurking.
Be safe. Be kind to others. Wear. A. Fucking. Mask.
