DANZA MACABRA VOL. 3: THE SPANISH GOTHIC COLLECTION Severin box set
DANZA MACABRA VOLUME 3: THE SPANISH GOTHIC COLLECTION is the latest in Severin’s acclaimed series of Gothic Horror Blu-ray box sets and the first to focus on Spain’s tradition of Gothic Horror, which – particularly during the Franco dictatorship – was characterised by daring concepts, lush visuals, extreme sexuality and a startling aesthetic all its own.
These four classic shockers from the 1970s…

After the Northern Wars, necrophages generally grew bolder and multiplied in the Northern Kingdoms; ghouls, a sub-species, became the most common corpse-eaters, usually found roaming around in packs, distinguishable from their cousins, alghouls, by the sickly paleness of their visage. After hunting unknowing locals, they shred their prey to pieces with fangs and claws, the corpse being then left to age. They can also hunt livestock, such as sheep and goats. While generally sensitive to silver, ghouls are also affected by light, such as the sun or fire.

what kind of tragedy are you?
self-inflicted.
you were given the choice to live, a thousand times over, and yet you never choose it. not intentionally, oh no, you didn't know it was a grave you were digging. but with every turn you were twisting the knife deeper. every decision doomed you more. had it been anyone else, they would have made it. but you? you are so perfectly you, there was no escaping it. the true tragedy of it all, is how preventable it was

Spring, what a wonderful season. Perhaps Milva's favourite one. Everything coming back to live after the long, cold sleep of winter, the birds singing and building their nests, flowers emerging everywhere and colouring the brown winter soil with dots and patches of pink, yellow, orange, purple and blue, rabbits hopping about and doing their rabbit things, unaware of the hunter hiding in the bushes and the swift arrows flying at them. Milva does not like killing those cute little creatures, but they need food, and Angoulême is right, they are all thoroughly tired of eating fish all the time. So, here she comes back to camp with three nice rabbits for their dinner. And while the men can do the skinning and cooking, she is going to have a glorious bath in the river Geralt, Regis and Cahir have agreed on must be the Lete. Not that the name really matters to Milva. What is important is that she can finally wash off the stench of winter, and thoroughly so without freezing her ass off. The water of the fast flowing stream is still cold, of course, but there are flat rocks on its bank and the sun is pretty strong already here in Ebbing, much stronger than further north where she comes from. The rocks feel pleasantly warm to the bare skin of her feet when she has gotten rid of her footwear. Her clothes follow suit and, with a big splash and a whoop, she leaps into the water ...

Summary: Finally spring has come and Gallatin is out hunting. Alone. Not a good idea in these times of contempt ...
Inspired by the Witcher Monster MAYhem prompt 3 "Necrophage", Medwhump May "Head Injury" & "Stitches" and the Whumpay prompt "Dazed".
The monster gives a deafening roar, mouth wide agape, its rotting teeth flashing in the light of his torch. It looks ugly like hell and stinks of death and decay. But he has fought the likes of it before. They seem to be spawning out of the soil like pests these days. Well, they are well fed in these times of contempt, and he himself has provided them with ample dinner. If their mission was not as secret as it is, he would, of course, burn all the corpses of the soldiers and waggoners that accompany the caravans they raid and that end up dead and rotting in the woods. But fires like the ones necessary to cremate a dozen or so dead humans at the same time are too conspicuous and they cannot bury every body deep enough for those corpse eaters not to get to them. At least they try to with their own casualties. Which is more than enough hard work with all the rocks and stones and roots in the forest soil. A pity, these brainless beasts do not appreciate the service they and the Scoia'tael are providing them and keep to a dead-meat-only diet instead of attacking their benefactors.
He swings his sword and brandishes his torch at the ghoul. The beast roars again and charges at him, the elf lying spreadeagled and dazed on the forest ground forgotten. Cahir ducks and spins, then stabs the ghoul in its massive thigh. The monster does not even seem to notice. Despite its natural fear of fire, it lunges at the human. But it is too slow and stupid to do any damage. Cahir evades the monster by jumping to the side at the last moment, then he spins around and sinks his blade into the negrophage's back. This time, the monster does notice. Growling and snarling, it turns around, its ugly face a grimace of deadly fury. Then it pounces at the human again ...
