Yeah quiet quitting is great and all but have you tried chaotic working?

Like. I remember back in my grocery store cashier days I did so much crazy shit.

When WIC (Women, infants, and children voucher program to help low income mothers/families with children) people were in my line I would pretty much know who they were. Before the cards they had to tell us upfront they were WIC and show us their vouchers for what they were allowed to get (it was awful some times. Like. 2 gallons of milk. $4 worth of vegetables etc etc). They’d always have items hanging back, waiting to see what the total was and if they would have to take it off the belt.

I began to place the fruits/vegetables a certain way on the register scale so that like 1/2lbs of grapes read as like .28lbs or something. Then act shocked when I said that they still had X amount of lbs left. They got all their fruit and vegetables.

I think it started to kinda? Catch on to the women? Because I would have the same moms in my line month after month. And even after they switched to the cards (they worked like food stamp cards?) I’d still do the same thing. They were able to get more produce for whatever shitty max amount Indiana gave them.

Anyways. Be chaotic. It’s more fun that way.

Got my fifth kudos on an old very rare pair fic 🥳🎉🎊🎈

This ship is actually Witcher book canon and has exactly five works on Ao3, four of which are in Russian. 😂 I wrote it almost a year ago for the cake shop rare pair bingo prompt: Write a pairing that has no fics in English. Very nice that a few people read and even like it 😊 Hope this pairing will be included in the Netflix series. It is pretty important for the plot in the books and is quite interesting imo.

You can talk for me too, and I guess for many more 😊 Especially if it's a longer fic, it is often hard work to write the last chapter(s) when the real action (which usually is a lot of fun and exciting to write) is over and one has to pick up the pieces and mend what is broken and tie up all the loose ends. If you don't get a single comment, not even a simple "Oh, nice, a new chapter!" or something like this, why bother? Many readers (on reddit) complain about authors abandoning their stories. And the recommendation most give there is to filter for and only read completed fics (and most don't seem to bother commenting on completed fics either, for why would they, the story is already there for them to enjoy). But maybe there wouldn't be so many unfinished stories out there if there was a bit more support for the authors while they are writing? Or, for lack of comments, writers might decide to kill everybody off instead of thinking up a nice fluffy ending. It's a lot quicker and easier and kind of fun, too (but maybe not for the readers).

After two weeks of publishing part two of To the Moon and Back, and not getting any new comments after the one I got, I started thinking, maybe that's it. I'm just gonna have to keep pushing myself to finish it because the older it gets... well, you know.

Even though my brain has been filled with holes lately (think Swiss cheese, not that it's ever anything but lol). New ideas for gifs and writing, but lacking focus, so yippee. But I needed that small push, a small dose of serotonin to keep me going and give me encouragement when-----

Out of the blue, I got two new comments tonight. Two comments, from two different people. And they're super nice comments, too, which made me grin like an idiot. I am feeling much more positive and energized now, and I might finally get something done writing-wise. So totally, this made my night. <3

Anyway, I can only talk for myself but what I wanna say here is: comment your favorite stories. Let your favorite authors know you love what they do; even if it's something simple as 'I liked it'. You might just make their day like these comments made mine.

whose name was mentioned in a world-shaking article criticising The Witcher and The Rings of Power for their 'woke diversity casting'.

You wouldn't think it possible that people like this guy exist. It's a fictional TV show. It's not historical. It's entertainment. If you don't like it, don't watch it. You are not the guardian of Witcher lore. The Witcher belongs to Sapkowski and he sold the rights to Netflix. And he said he likes the show!

And the best thing, this guy who defends alleged Witcher lore (the white Europeanness of it) , does not even seem to know what the Conjunction of the Spheres is. 😂😂😂 Great expert!

(Needless to say, he is against Jaskier/Radovid, too, and thinks Jaskier's songs are too modern and not medieval enough. In the books the Lodge of Sorceresses discuss the genetics of Elder Blood. Genetics - very medieval indeed, but "Toss a coin" is not ...)

I wonder why people think that Liam will have an Australian accent when the actor who plays Cahir is Australian and has a british accent in the show

Maybe they don't know that Eamon is Australian? 😂 And Mahesh (Vilgefortz) is Australian, too! I wouldn't mind any of them having an Australian accent, but, like his two fellow countrymen, Liam will probably also be able to do a perfectly British accent. Hope we'll soon get to see him as Geralt!

One thing the guys who criticise Netflix for its racial diversity in The Witcher always seem to forget

Had this discussion with this guy on Reddit again, always the same arguments, of course, the lore allegedly is all Slavic/white European. And then they pretend to care for the identity of other cultures and that they should be preserved and distinguishable and that there's Zerrikania on the continent for black people. Yes, Zerrikania, featuring so prominently in the books, right ...

What they totally seem to overlook, humans came to the continent through the Conjunction of the Spheres about 1,500 years before the events of the novels. They did not evolve on the continent through survival of the fittest. The distribution of skin colour on the continent ought to be mostly random. Yes, people who came from hot places in their original world and have a very dark skin colour as adaptation to the climate in their lost sphere of origin might prefer to settle regions like Zerrikania with a similar climate. But why wouldn't they settle in Toussaint, for example? Fringilla being dark skinned does not have to mean she has ancestors from Zerrikania and does not need to be explained in any way. Same with culture, people from all kinds of different cultures have very likely landed on the continent together and mixed their cultures while they were helping each other to survive in a totally new world. Why should there be distinct cultures related to skin colour and climate after only 1,500 years of populating the continent? A mix makes a lot more sense under these unique circumstances.

There was also a very funny thing one guy asked me when I wrote something like: Oh yes, the Korath desert is very Eastern European.

Did you know there's a desert in Poland? Yes, there actually is. We also have several "deserts" in Germany, but they are all so small, even a toddler would have difficulty getting lost in one of them 😂. Of course Sapkowski was exclusively thinking of this miniature Polish desert when he created the Korath 😂.

It is so baffling that they are still going on and on about Cavill leaving, too, it's so old already. You'd think any normal person would have gotten over their initial disappointment/anger by now and moved on. But no, they seem to be on some kind of crusade to spoil it for everybody. And it's mainly based on gossip from this one guy who accused the other writers of hating the books after he was fired. The same guy wo was fired recently from something else for toxic behaviour. Very trustworthy source indeed 😂. And, of course, on the legend that Cavill has loved the books for decades when the first English translation came out in 2007 and he didn't even know the games were based on books before he approached Netflix and talked them into giving the role to him, what a huge mistake ...

TWN rant:

I'm kind of sick of the Henry Cavill fans in the TWN fandom- I understand you're angry that he left/was fired, but you don't have to ruin the fandom for everyone else. Some of us weren't watching for Henry and I think that's what they don't understand, (obviously I'm not talking about ALL Henry fans, but a lot of them) like Henry is not the only talented actor in that show, Freya, Anya, Joey, and Hugh were all INCREDIBLE in season 3, and I'm just tired of people telling me that the Witcher is dead without Henry, maybe it won't be as good as before but that doesn't mean it won't be decent. I just think we should chill out, and stop hating on people for liking, and wanting to watch seasons four and five. I think I'm just mad about all of my fandoms turning into toxic wastelands. But yeah, I just needed to channel my thoughts before I exploded.
