#need a national bank now ig :
Note
are they banning it entirely?? they just banned it on government phones here, but grant shapps is apparently not giving up his tiktok addiction and it's hilarious. he's quite the star over there it seems
Buckle in, Emma. It's gonna get wild.
It's currently banned on government devices by presidential directive. Congress is considering legislation to ban it outright. There was a hearing today on the Hill with the TikTok CEO. If you've ever watched how Congress interviews or talks to the tech industry in a hearing, they ask really assholey gotcha questions (for instance -- "why are children on your app?" "we don't" "Then how come my 4 year old granddaughter was able to get an account?" "Because children will falsify data like they do to every other app and get around age screening. When we see that, we immediately block and ban the account." "Aha! You do let children into your app!" **not a direct quote but similar). They also never let the witness speak and will talk over him or purposely misconstrue his answers to craft the narrative they want.
The protests in France are more polite and civil than the way these legislators were treating the CEO.
Anyway, Congress is saying we need a TikTok ban because it's a matter of national security (too many Americans are using the app and China is stealing all of our data through the app). There are also two subplots/side stories:
1 -- too many Americans are getting the news from TikTok and not mainstream media channels (check out the East Palestine train crash and how social media dug up a ton of stories about Norfolk Southern that they tried to bury) so mainstream media is pissed that they're not getting ratings and Congress is pissed because they can't hide their shenanigans and power grabs anymore. *this is the quiet part they're not supposed to say but they do. Because they're all old assholey farts.*
2 -- Zuckerberg wants TikTok. He's wanted it for years and for his metaverse. (Psst...there's a reason why Instagram rolled out the reels and why reels are TikTok dupes.) So Zuck keeps going to ByteCube with offers to buy TikTok. ByteCube keeps telling him to go pound sand. Zuck went to Congress and whined about it. One of the proposals the US govt has on the table right now is an offer to ByteCube/China is that if they sell TikTok (or the North American branch) to a non-Chinese investor, then they won't ban TikTok. Gee, I wonder who's going to step up... This proposal has actually been leaked through 'official' channels to get the American public so riled up about it that we rise up against ByteCube/China to force the sale. But what our septuagenarians in Congress don't realize (*because they take his money*) is that Zuckerberg is more dangerous with our data, privacy, and farming than ByteCube has proven to be and there are protests now, but they're protests against Meta and Zuck that are causing Meta, FB, and IG stock to drop. *I mean, we might not have our shit together to protest as spectacularly as the French, but we can hit them where it'll hurt the worst: their bank accounts, because guess what. Most of them have stock in Meta, FB, and IG.*
I told you it was a ride.
i've read this about four times since it came in lol and i've also had my besties' input. i said to them a few days ago it STINKS of zuckerberg being butthurt that he's not on top anymore
like i get the whole china thing, i really do, but it's his shitty ass platforms with all their dumb 'suggested posts' I DON'T WANT TO SEE that are the problem. i hardly scroll on FB because none of them are mildly related to my interests and i can't turn them off!!!!

Aadhaar-Enabled Payment System (AEPS) - What is it and why is it so popular?
Aadhaar-enabled payment system is the most popular mode of banking operated on Unique Identification Number through Aadhaar Card Verification. It makes financial transactions easier than before and empowers the society by providing reliable and user-friendly media for money transactions. The AEPS system aims to empower all sections of the society by making financial and banking services available to all through Aadhaar.
AEPS allows customers to make payments using their Aadhaar number and by providing Aadhaar verification at Point of Sale (PoS) or Micro ATMs. It is a simple, secure and user-friendly platform for financial transactions. This is another initiative taken by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to encourage cashless transactions in India. The customer can do all the transactions through a micro ATM, through a Business Correspondent (BC) or through a bank agent. Except for fund transfer, where you need to go to the specific bank BC, for other transactions you can go to any bank BC can be used.
Services offered by AEPS
cash deposit
Payment Transactions (C2B, C2G Transactions)
balance inquiry
cash withdrawal
Aadhar to Aadhar Fund Transfer
Features
easy to use
secure payment method

Through AEPS, all bank account holders will be able to access their bank accounts through Aadhaar authentication
AEPS facilitates the disbursement of government schemes like NREGA, Social Security Pension, Disabled Old Age Pension etc. to any Central or State Government bodies using Aadhaar authentication.

The fight for equality in the UK is far, far from over.
Last night, a 14 year old black boy playing football in the streets in was murdered by a group of men. Birmingham Police are trying to say it was not racially motivated, I say that once again that police are talking shit. I see no reason why a group white of men would get out of their car to chase down a group of teenagers and stab one of them to death. This a boy who was out enjoying the sunshine on a bank holiday Monday, ready for half term with his friends, a boy with his whole life ahead of him. He had a family at home, probably waiting for him to come home for his dinner, now they’re mourning their son while his killers are still out there.
This comes just weeks after Sasha Johnson, a BLM activist in the UK was shot in the head.
The government claim there’s no systematic racism, that is a clear lie. They have tried to put a positive spin on past slavery. Our invasions and colonastions throughout history are not taught in schools, 95 percent of young black people have witnessed or heard racist language at school in the UK.
We need to step up, we need to be calling out racism and showing that this is not okay, and we should not be standing for this. I hear casual racism being brought up in conversation all the time, it took me a long time to educate myself and get the confidence to not only call out this behaviour, but attempt to educate. I’m sick to my stomach with what has happened, i can’t even begin to imagine how the black community is feeling. I’m linking some resources below, please, please support anti racism causes in the uk, we have such a beautiful and diverse culture, we should be embracing it.

Connections
[[I guess we can add City of Heroes to the long list of games that this tumblr is attached to.  So that’s Guild Wars 2, Star Trek Online, Skyrim/ESO and now City of Heroes/Villains/Going Rogue. I’ve just got one character to put in for CoX and it’s music heavy, so lots of videos to go with it.]]
Tumblr media
Name: Dominique Turgeon (no link at present) Alias: Canadienne (feminine of Canadien) Race/Nationality: Human, Canadian (Metis, Mohawk) Place of Origin: Laval, Quebec Birth Date: July 1, 1986 Current Location: Paragon City (on tour) Job(s): musician, producer, studio guitarist, lead guitarist of the Montreal symphonic metal band Seven Years of Blood Familiar With: Currently no one, has been away from Paragon City for 8 years (literally, that was the last time I played CoX)
youtube
Availability: evenings, always evenings. Familial: Low - was the oldest child of two children in a family of four. Her father was known as Canadien during the FLQ crisis of 1970. Most would not know this at all, though some might make the connection that there might be a connection between the one from the 1970s and the current one. Past: High - Dom has been the lead guitarist of Seven Years of Blood since she was in high school.  Along with her high school friends, Yves Manderville (vocals, piano), Jacqueline Manderville (vocals, rhythm guitar, bass) and Michelle Villeneauve (drums). Would Know - In the past twenty years, the band Seven Years of Blood has released 12 albums, Dom and the four original members of the band have been a part of all of them, for the fourth and fifth albums (Spill It and Naked Truth), vocalist and keyboard player Able McIntyre was added, then dropped after a murder conviction, since album 10 (Here We Go Again) the band added Raven Running Cloud (bassist, backing vocals) and Marcus Cromwell (keyboards, vocals). As Canadienne, Dom began her career as a costumed crime fighter at the age of 17 (the same age her father began crime fighting during the 1970s). There is little to no connection between the band and Canadienne, though some have speculated, as Canadienne often appears with costumed crime fighters Grey Kestrel, Acadia and Archimedes. Current: High - the band is back in Paragon City making stops throughout in an effort to raise money for victims of the Rikti Invasion and the Shivan attack in Galaxy City.  Would Know - strangely, Canadienne has also made an appearance in Paragon City again, after initial reports she was seen in Montreal. The connection with the band is still not made.
youtube
Hooks (as Dominique)
Several concert posters are spread throughout Paragon City promoting the new Seven Years of Blood album, Resist
Donations to local food banks are made by band members
Dom is often seen at Pocket D, meeting people and making connections through music
Dom is known as a bit of a hot head and is ready to “drop the gloves” whenever someone has slighted one of her friends.  At the age of 34, however, that has calmed down a tad. She’s still willing to have a donnybrook, though, don’t get me wrong.
youtube
Hooks (as Canadienne)
Most authorities see her as a wanted criminal
More a vigilante than a hero the likes of Statesman or the Freedom Corps
Fights dirty
Has apprehended as many Skulls and Hellions as she’s actually helped. Social workers note that through Canadienne’s actions, there has been a sharp decline in recruitment among the two gangs
Even though she is on the Paragon City Police Department most wanted list, there are cops who trust her and often help her with information (information gathering is a two way street between Canadienne and the cops)
Has been known to actually “save” mid ranking Skulls and Hellions from false arrest and has been seen at times working with the Family when it comes to the more charitable side of the Mafia organization
youtube
Availability: evenings and weekends IG; Discord By Request
Looking For: Friends/Allies a wanted vigilante can always use some backup, even when it’s on both sides of the law. Enemies/Rivals: Canadienne has always been more of a Spider-man/Spider-girl like character, so world shaking enemies need not apply.  The absolute darkety dark dark villains I’m not a fan of either. Heroes who try stopping Dom, or villains that Dom combats with and sometimes work with is more than welcome.  The dynamic of enemies who work together then go back to being antagonists I really love for this character.
Regarding ERP: Not really down for it, as it takes a lot of work and often times gets really dull for me.  I’m more action oriented but when in a static RP scene I’d rather chill with friends or rivals and have a few drinks or talk about stuff and things.  Besides, Dom is married and has a loving wife.

I fully accept silence means consent, but we've moved into "if you don't say exactly what we want on our 48-hour timetable, we're going to be complete assholes" territory. Also, I don't know the answer, so I'm honestly asking, Have people come for RDJ for not posting yet (or AM or CB and several others)? For CH for only posting the same pic that's making the rounds and a hashtag, which truly is the minimum? For CE for posting only on Twitter, which literally has one-third the users IG has?
So did you all write that last post before Seb posted, or is, "No one is asking for a dissertation race, inequality and police brutality,” incorrect and you are asking for something very specific that he didn’t provide? Otherwise, what's wrong with Seb's post focusing on the systemic issue (and lifting the perennial voices of young black men)? How is that not "taking a stand"? And yes, there's too much energy spent defending him, but there's also too much energy spent attacking him.
Who said anything about a 48hour timetable and who was being an asshole and attacking him?
I think you misunderstand where I'm coming from. I wasn't waiting for Sebastian to post about what's going on to fulfill some kind of social duty. I wanted him to acknowledge the current situation because he genuinely cares.
The stronger you feel about a specific situation, the quicker you are to act and react. At a time like this, all voices need to be heard.
The same way people are taking notes of the companies supporting their staff during this pandemic? Trust that people are keeping track of who's speaking up on behalf of racial equality and who's staying silent, for fear of aggravating the racist faction of their audience.
That's why actions speak louder than words for me, always.
AM and CB know all about the plight of POC in America, they have been in those situations themselves. CH/CE are using their platform to amplify the message, which is what allies do, whether it's relying the picture that has been making the rounds or using the hashtag. Sebastian doesn't get brownie points for originality, by the way. There are no brownie points to be awarded here. Speaking up is all that is necessary.
RDJ has elected not to post anything, his right. He doesn't have to say anything, I don't have to support his career. I'm sure that will make a big difference on his bank account, little old me like Reason said, but I'll be able to live with my choice; I hope he can too.
Ruby Woo
I understand that this conversation is occurring within the confines of fandom. But through our answers we have attempted to broaden the discourse and go beyond the narrow scope of what does this all say about the character of one privileged white man and move into the larger issues that make many very uncomfortable.
True compassion and outrage are not edited. They simply are.
May 25th, George Floyd was murdered.
May 26th, outraged men and women took to the streets of Minneapolis to protest against police brutality.
May 27th, protests begin to spread to cities across the US, Memphis, Los Angeles, Louisville and Brunswick.
May 28th, the National Guard is mobilized in Minneapolis as protests continue.
May 29th, Officer Chauvin is arrested. Protests continue and grow around the nation including, New York, Atlanta and DC.
May 30th, protests continue to grow and police violence including attacking journalists increases. Curfews are established.
May 31st, protests intensify. Six people are killed in violence connected to the protests.
This is the reality.
Delaying public engagement and support revealed many.
Now, those fans who anxiously waited for a post have placated and seen their adoration and admiration validated, and even become emboldened.
Others who are not as zealous, are satisfied with the post.
For me, the core issue has not change.
He posted relevant content that spoke to him and for him.
Marvel based fandoms tend to be very forgiving, there exists this visceral need to ‘protect’ their favorites. I know we have alluded and even outright mentioned others who have engaged in performative woke-ness.
The reality is grim.
Cosmic
Here’s the situation:
Black people have been getting killed by the police and by racists with their killers getting no more than slap on the wrists. This has been going on since the beginnings of this country and has persisted to the point where, even in the middle of a pandemic where Black people are at highest risk, Black people have taken to the streets with their allies/advocates.
Black people, or I should say we, are tired. Tired of being in mourning, tired of being angry, just tired.
It is 2020. We can no longer pretend that we don’t know or can’t understand what is going on in this country.
Yes, what Seb posted was nice, but that is all it was. At this point we need action and all hands on deck. His Black fans would have liked to see something that was a nice middle of the road “racism is bad, we need to do better” because “no shit.”
Also, it is beyond him. So many have been disappointing. The police—the State—has been purposely inciting riots this past week. We are watching this in real time. People are putting their bodies and lives on the line for this and all we ask celebs for is a little moral support. He couldn’t even hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. It’s beyond justice for one man, we are fighting for our lives.
Acknowledgement is cool, but we need the affluent to open their purses, use their platforms, and be vocal and direct about their support.
Yes. It does matter how he shows his support, because the wrong way causes harm no matter where it falls on the spectrum of racist vs anti-racist.
I’m glad that weak ass statement was good enough for you, but it was disappointing for me. It wasn’t just him either. I am personally not “cancelling” (*eye roll* because cancelling doesn’t mean a damn thing and never has) him because I expected him to disappoint me (but not as disappointing as others, sadly).
If you are comfortable and don’t feel affected by what is happening or the lack of support for humans, stand in that. However, just know that this comes at the expense of lives; we see that shit and will not forget it.
Sit with that.

born  in  a  moderately  comfortable  home  in  chicago  ,  il  ,  marcus  banks  never  really  knew  what  he  wanted  to  do  .  he  could  have  been  the  first  in  his  family  to  go  to  college  ,  especially  since  his  father  went  into  the  army  right  after  high  school  and  his  mom  worked  at  a  mac  counter  in  the  mall  to  give  herself  something  to  do  instead  of  being  a  stay  at  home  mom  .  when  he  was  in  high  school  ,  marcus  was  the  quarterback  for  his  school’s  team  ,  but  he  had  no  interest  in  playing  football  in  college  .  he  does  end  up  going  ,  and  manages  to  get  himself  into  prestigious  hbcu  morehouse  college  in  atlanta  ,  georgia  .  marcus  discovered  that  he  was  unhappy  at  morehouse  and  dropped  out  ,  so  like  most  twenty  year  olds  with  nothing  to  his  name  and  a  single  ticket  to  new  york  ,  marcus  somehow  managed  to  get  a  position  as  an  intern  at  uptown  records  .
marcus  worked  his  way  up  from  intern  and  eventually  became  a  talent  director  ,  and  this  is  when  he  discovered  his  own  passion  for  music  as  well  as  how  exciting  it  was  to  help  develop  talent  .  while  at  uptown  records  ,  marcus  had  a  hand  in  developing  a  lot  of  the  talent  from  the  90s  ,  such  as  jodeci  and  mary  j .  blige  .  marcus’s  time  at  uptown  came  to  an  end  when  he  decided  that  he  wanted  to  start  his  own  label  ,  which  he  called  kingdom  records  .  through  those  years  ,  he  helped  to  manage  and  produce  tons  of  popular  artists  from  the  late  90s  and  early  2000s  .  although  marcus  enjoyed  his  time  as  a  producer  and  he  watched  as  his  wealth  grew  ,  he  also  knew  that  he  wanted  to  have  a  wife  and  children  .
he  married  his  wife  ,  jada  long  ,  after  they  met  when  she  came  in  with  her  girl - group  to  become  the  next  big  trio  .  while  the  trio’s  career  didn’t  take  off  ,  jada  managed  to  find  love  with  marcus  and  they  married  after  six  months  of  dating  .  after  being  married  for  three  years  ,  they  welcomed  their  first  child  ,  a  son  named  isaiah  born  in  1993  .  in  1995  ,  jada  and  marcus  were  originally  expecting  twins  ,  but  one  of  them  absorbed  the  other  ,  so  that  explains  why  the  couple  decided  to  name  their  second  son  khaos  .  the  couple  had  one  more  child  ,  a  daughter  they  named  mariah  ,  in  1999  .  marcus  and  jada  settled  with  their  family  in  los  angeles  ,  where  their  company  expanded  and  marcus  started  his  own  music  career  .
originally  ,  critics  were  skeptical  because  he  was  known  for  managing  and  producing  ,  not  rapping  ,  but  he  released  his  debut  album  in  2001  and  let’s  just  say  that  critics  were  floored  .  the  album  debuted  at  number  one  and  went  2x  platinum  ,  earning  him  his  first  grammy  nomination  .  marcus  continuously  released  music  throughout  the  2000s  and  even  into  the  2010s  ,  which  has  earned  him  18  grammy  wins  and  received  the  commemorative  ‘ salute  to  industry  icons  ’  in  2017  .  marcus  has  since  retired  from  music  after  touring  a  few  times  ,  and  now  mainly  cites  himself  as  a  businessman  .  he  is  the  head  of  banks  enterprises  ,  which  is  the  umbrella  com[any  for  his  restaurants  ,  fashion  line  ,  liquor  brand  ,  and  he  eventually  went  into  television  production  as  well  .
as  for  their  son  khaos  ,  he’s  got  a  sick  case  of  middle  child  syndrome  .  while  growing  up  ,  he  always  felt  overshadowed  by  his  brother  who  went  into  the  music  industry  and  even  by  his  younger  sister  as  she  had  a  natural  talent  for  gymnastics  .  when  he  was  in  high  school  ,  khaos  played  football  because  it  made  sense  ,  but  he  wasn’t  as  passionate  about  it  as  his  father  .  football  was  never  an  interest  to  khaos  ,  and  he  never  had  an  interest  in  attending  college  for  it  either  (  sound  familiar  ?  )  he  wanted  time  to  figure  out  who  he  was  and  things  of  the  sort  ,  but  his  dad  was  a  stubborn  man  who  barely  let  him  decide  what  he  wanted  despite  the  fact  that  he  allowed  it  for  his  other  children  .  khaos  never  really  knew  how  to  tell  his  dad  that  he  didn’t  want  a  life  as  some  pro - baller  ,  so  he  started  hanging  around  the  wrong  people  .
when  it  started  , khaos  primarily  hot - boxed  in  his  car  with  his  friends  ,  stayed  out  for  far  too  long  ,  and  occasionally  got  busted  in  the  mansions  that  were  up  for  sale  in  their  neighborhoods  .  to  him  ,  it  was  all  fun  and  games  ,  but  the  laughs  came  to  a  halt  when  his  father  picked  him  up  fueled  with  rage  and  his  mother  had  tears  in  her  eyes  because  he  was  ‘  headed  down  a  dark  path  ’  .  of  course  ,  khaos  never  took  heed  to  what  his  parents  had  to  say  about  anything  ,  so  he  continued  to  act  up  (  you  can  get  snatched  up  )  and  when  he  was  eighteen  his  parents  had  had  enough  when  he  was  placed  on  probation  for  two  and  a  half  years  for  reckless  driving  and  drag  racing  .
the  heads  of  the  banks  household  decided  that  they  would  have  khaos  complete  his  probation  in  chicago  ,  and  was  made  to  stay  with  his  grandmother  for  the  duration  .  of  course  ,  khaos  was  mad  about  it  ,  but  he  decided  that  he  wouldn’t  stay  in  chicago  once  it  was  over  .  he  was  supposed  to  return  to  california  ,  but  somehow  managed  to  convince  his  parents  that  he’d  be  better  off  moving  to  new  york  ,  and  so  they  let  him  .
𝐢𝐢. 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 .
now  ,  he  lives  in  new  york  and  pretends  like  he’s  the  ‘ changed ’  son  that  his  parents  want  .  in  reality  he’s  just  doing  whatever  the  hell  he  wants  because  his  parents  made  sure  that  the  media  didn’t  discover  that  he  was  going  in  and  out  of  jail  and  on  probation  for  a  period  of  time  .  he  mainly  lives  the  life  of  a  socialite  ,  taking  random  excursions  around  the  world  when  he  feels  like  it  and  popping  up  in  the  tabloids  because  he’s  having  another  club  night  escapade  .
𝐢𝐢𝐢. 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲  .
khaos  is  pretty  much  the  epitome  of  a  spoiled  rich  boy  .  he’s  really  arrogant  ,  and  thinks  highly  of  himself  but  he’s  not  really  in  your  face  about  it  .  it  mostly  can  be  seen  in  his  aura  /  his  energy  as  he’s  not  much  of  a  talker  in  the  first  place  .  he  doesn’t  brag  or  boast  about  himself  or  his  family’s  wealth  because  well  ...  there’s  no  need  for  that  .  as  soon  as  people  hear  the  ‘ banks ’  last  name  ,  they  automatically  know  who  he  is  .
he’s  the  most  charming  man  !  he’s  really  chill  and  he  really  likes  conversation  ,  so  watch  as  he  fills  it  with  compliments  but  mainly  to  get  what  he  wants  .  if  he’d  being  honest  ,  he  gets  his  charm  from  his  father  ,  even  though  he  doesn’t  really  want  to  admit  it  ,  and  he  gets  his  incredible  sense  of  humor  from  his  mother  so  chances  are  ,  he’s  gonna  get  what  he  wants  .
uh  ,  he’s  an  asshole  ,  too  ?  like  he  tends  to  think  he’s  not  ,  but  he  doesn’t  really  care  for  his  dad  and  borderline  would  beat  his  ass  if  he  had  the  chance  to  .  he’s  not  an  asshole  outright  where  he’s  a  standoffish  dick  face  ,  but  khaos  does  have  his  moments  where  his  temper  won’t  be  as  mellow  as  it  usually  is  .
𝐢𝐯. 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬  .
his  family  owns  a  few  houses  around  the  united  states  .  they  have  their  main  house  in  hidden  hills  ,  their  house  in  chicago  ,  two  vacation  homes  in  aspen  and  southampton  ,  and  a  more  ‘ modest ’  home  in  beverly  hills  .  khaos  lives  in  a  loft - style  duplex  condo  in  greenwich  village  .
it’s  my  dream  car (  rip  to  tesla  ig  lol )  ,  but  khaos  drives  primarily  a  porsche  taycan  .  it’s  the  main  car  he  drives  in  nyc  ,  but  back  home  in  california  he  has  a  fleet  of  cars  ranging  from  a  range  rover  ,  bentley  bentayga  ,  rolls - royce  phantom  ,  a  ferrari  548  italian  spider  ,  and  the  beautiful  bugatti  chiron  .
his  fashion  sense  is  primarily  streetwear  .  he  likes  to  dabble  into  luxury  sportswear  as  well  ,  but  mainly  sticks  to  brands  like  supreme  ,  commes  des  garcones  ,  balenciaga  ,  vetements  ,  supreme  ,  off - white  ,  alexander  wang  ,  etc  .
this  is  so  headass  and  it  fits  his  aesthetic  lmao  ,  but  khaos  wears  a  an  eight  tooth  grill  (  both  top  and  bottom  )  every  single  day  .  ofc  he  takes  them  out  to  be  cleaned  /  brush  his  teeth  ,  but  he  never  leaves  the  house  without  them  and  they’re  valued  at  $45k  each  .
mostly  because  he’s  annoying  ,  his  favorite  thing  to  eat  is  cronuts  and  he’d  literally  fly  back  to  los  angeles  for  the  vegan  cronuts  at  donut  farm  .  that  being  said  ,  he  is  vegan  but  not  annoying  about  it  ...  at  least  i  don’t  think  he  is  lmao  .
a  feminist  !  specifically  ,  an  intersectional  feminist  and  he's  gone  to  the  women’s  march  in  nyc  every  year  since  he  made  the  official  move  ,  and  uh  ,  probably  got  arrested  during  a  peaceful  protest  when  the  ab*rtion  bill  became  a  thing  .

Harriet Harkles and The Big Tour of “Africa” The press flight from London Heathrow to Cape Town International, (for the US and UK press who are to cover professional victims, duke and duchess of Sussex,' much hyped "royal tour of Africa") was cancelled and I wonder if it may be to save them the initial embarrassment of coverage of their arrival in a country who had made it abundantly clear they weren't welcome? In recent weeks, after a hugely publicised announcement which included a countdown clock to start of it all (almost like with the Olympic Games you know) on Sussexes' IG account, talk of permanent position in South Africa had been watered down to a semi-permanent position where "large chunks of the year" will be spent in South Africa (so "dear to Hazzard's heart- his true home away from home"- almost like "the family she never had") to a six month tour, to a fortnight tour, to now, a ten day tour. The way had been paved to cover for a largely absent MM, as her "packed schedule" will not enjoy press coverage, so as to "not steal away the limelight from PH's very important causes" (I'm just saying what I read. I suppose they may be referring to their fabled "elephant tagging". You know, the only two in the world to do this important and high risked job? Passing off on their IG photos of the real people who are professionally taking care of the elephants as to be of them. I mean do people of the UK even get how ridiculously embarrassing it all is? For the UK I mean? Or exactly how condescending and patronising it comes across as? I mean, talk about international diplomacy.) Any way, I find this purported absence of overtly hyped up coverage of MM's every move interesting, since at time of their Morocco visit, not entirely that long ago, she still routinely elbowed PH out of the way and insisted on greeting, at both instances, the king and the crown prince first and then, almost as the afterthought that he had become, introduced them to a bedazzled looking PH. In his crumpled grey suit, which actually pose striking resemblance to the old prison pyjamas, not sure what to make of that. This was something which apparently served as a huge insult to the Moroccan hosts. So I have a sense of her possibly being a covered up no show. I know Oz is even now still rife with stories of how badly behaved they both were when they went there, including MM hurling a pot filled with hot tea at an Admiralty House staff member and then shouting at the HC's missus, "fluck off, don't you know who I am?!" when she talked to her about her treatment of AH staff. And to be honest, SA today is not a place where you'd be doing something like that and hope to cover it up and think nothing will come of it. Actually, the dry kindle of the so carefully internationally stacked showpiece fireplace that is SA of today, could ignite into a wild fire by just a small spark. And, my point being, people actually even call her Sparkles. On the other hand, if I'm wrong and we will see her modeling her merching catalogue all over the place, won't it be fun to also watch MM sell herself as black to the people of South Africa? (Or, more to the point, how she'll be laughed at doing so) and also how they're going to pretend both emissaries of colonial royalty have arrived just in time to save Southern Africa of certain destruction, especially since of course, SA women need to be told by the Flying Duchess herself, how they lack rights (SA women, who boast a liberal constitution when it comes to women and children: both have a national public/bank holiday to celebrate their importance- perhaps the UK could learn from us? And 'till very recently white women were the only whites who were not legally excluded from the formal job market). 'Cause, that's the implication this creates, nobody in SA could do it better of course... BTW, lots of baby shopping stories doing the rounds. Now THAT really ires me, buying African babies to serve as woke virtue signalling accessories. Suppose we shall see how it all pans out in real life. *SAFFAS who don't follow all of this, I mean, who would blame you, but just for interest sake, MM's gown for her engagement photo cost British taxpayers ZAR 1 824 000.00. (That is almost 2 million Rand for a dress, in case JZ reads this.) Her baby shower/stork party came to ZAR 9 500 000.00 (R9.5mill) and the dress she wore yesterday to a pal's wedding, ZAR171 000.00 (a pretty decent, even middle class SA pay package for a year). We all know she has nothing to say to Africa. And as for her fool, well, unless those who believe he is smarter than he seems are right, who would take him seriously any way?

Kismet (Chapter 16): A BTS Jin imagines fanfic
Tumblr media
First ever fanfic. Contains fluff and smut. Please read sequentially as it is a long story arc. Please provide feedback! My IG is btskismet.
November 4, 1944
He arrived at Ichihara with nothing but a duffel bag filled with a few clothes and some food. He was not expecting to be on the road for so long after the ship ride from Gyeongseong* to Tokyo. He knew that volunteering to be part of the Army was stupid but if it would help earn money for his family, he would do it. He also knew that he had the know-how to go up the ranks. His father, being a local official in Gyeongseong in the past, knew that if his youngest son learned Japanese, he would go far. Being in a country that has been under Japanese rule since 1910, his father had good foresight to get his son to learn Nihonggo well.
His mother tried to stop him from leaving and she cried so much when he boarded the ship. “Omma, I’m doing this to make you proud of me. Where else can I earn good money?”, he thought to himself silently as he watched his mother and brother from the ship deck. His father passed the year before and he was hoping he was watching his son from the heavens and pleased with his decisions to take care of their family. He knew that his older brother Jun-ha would’ve done what he could but after the incident, his leg would not last if he went with him.
Kim Jun-seok hoped that he wouldn’t be drafted to work in the Army hospitals or worse, to be sent for active duty somewhere else. He was hoping that with his act of volunteering, he would be able to handle technical work the camps or hangars. After all, volunteers can be part of the extensive apprenticeship for technical work, if they are lucky. He was crossing his fingers and praying that luck would shine on him.
“Sakurai Touma!”, a man called his name as he was waiting in line. In 1939, his family had to change their last name to Sakurai and they had to adopt Japanese first names too. Though he and his family still called each other by their Korean names, it would be deemed atrocious, if not illegal, for them to use it outside. To prevent from being ostracized in their town by the Japanese officers and the community, they had to get used to responding to their Japanese names.
He approached the table where the “Gocho” (Corporal in Japanese) was. His heart was beating fast as he was concerned about what assignment he was going to give him.
The stern-looking man scrutinized him and asked for his documents and identification. He looked at his ID, then his face and then back again to his ID and documents. He was afraid that this man might just decide to send him to active duty, especially since the war efforts were more rampant now that Japan has taken a desperate push to continue its hold on several Southeast Asian countries after attacking Pearl Harbor in 1941.
He hoped though that his Japanese language level and family history may keep him in Ichihara, Chiba to work in the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service hangar as an air technician. He was fascinated with the fighter planes made by the Japanese for the war, despite his biases towards the Japanese people in general.
However, he always remembers what his father said to him before he died: “If you follow their footsteps but know in the deepest of your heart that you are Korean, you are not being a traitor to your country. You are merely protecting yourself and your family to live long to fight for Korea in time.”
“Sakurai-san, are you a hardworking man?”, the Corporal asked him in Nihonggo.
“Hai!”, he shouted as a response. He excitedly shared to the Corporal in Nihonggo his desire to work in the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service and what he studied in school that will help him become a good air technician.
“Have you ever seen a fighter plane up close before?”, the Corporal asked pointedly. Jun-seok opened his mouth to speak but didn’t say anything. He realized with that question that he has not seen one in real life. What he saw were drawings and photos of them in school and in newspapers.
“You disappoint me, Sakurai-san. How can you work on combat aircraft if you haven’t seen one at all?”, the Corporal said, swaying his head.
“I have worked on cars and other machines, Gocho! I can be of use to the Imperial Army Air Service! I know what is needed to repair planes to make them work better and stronger to fight our enemies!”, he confidently said.
The Corporal was quiet for some time and was checking his logbook. He then encircled a portion of the page he was looking at. He looked again at the documents and ID Jun-seok gave him.
“You are Kim Jun-seok, yes?”, the Corporal asked him, looking at him intently.
He was taken aback by his question. He stammered and didn’t know what to say. Finally he replied: “My name is Sakurai Touma.”
The Corporal smiled and read a piece of paper that was tucked inside his logbook. “Kim Jun-seok, youngest son of Kim Man-seok and Kim Mi-sun. Younger brother to Kim Jun-ha. Studied in Keio University. Your father worked in the Chosun Hotel and eventually became a banker for the Bank of Korea. He then got elected as Shicho (Mayor) of Seongbuk-gu and was respected by the community and was considered as a kokumin (Japanese national).”
He stared at the Corporal, aware that his mouth was wide open with surprise. He closed it and was stunned to hear the Corporal tell him his family’s background.
“Your father was a great citizen of our nation... but we both know he shouldn’t have allowed those men treat him the way they did.”
He bowed his head. He was trying his best to fight back the tears as he remembered his father.
Kim Man-seok (called Sakurai Makoto in Japanese), didn’t allow three men, who beat him up profusely, to be prosecuted by the Japanese courts. His brother, Kim Jun-ha, was with their father when they attacked and his left leg was fractured when one of the men hit it with a lead pipe.
These men, who were part of the Korean rebel factions, almost killed him when they branded him as a “Chinilpa” or “pro-Japanese”. The Japanese military intervened anyway and had the men executed.
Despite his protests, Kim Man-seok was not able to prevent their deaths. He knew that his father was heartbroken when they died and he couldn’t understand why, even after they beat him and his brother up badly.
“They were misguided, son.”, he remembered his father saying to him. “They thought we support the Japanese but all I wanted us to protect our family. If we didn’t follow them, we would starve and die. They were fighting a war with the Japanese that would be done eventually. They just had to strive and survive because it would be over soon. If we live, we get to fight another day.”
He felt then his father was a coward for acting the way he did - both to the men who hurt him and to the Japanese. It made him feel conflicted for weeks.
The Japanese officials lost faith in Kim Man-seok afterwards. They thought he was defecting by showing compassion towards his attackers. Because of this, they stripped him of his role as Shicho of Seongbuk-gu. He died months later from his injuries.
“Ahem...”, the Corporal cleared his throat and this brought Jun-seok back to reality and he looked up. “Sakurai-san, I know you are not like your father. You are a great citizen to our nation and you will serve us well if I send you to the hangars of the Imperial Air Service. But...we need you somewhere else.”
He started signing a piece a paper in front of Jun-seok. “We have a troublesome town to deal with and we need their land to build tarmacs for our fighter planes. It is a prosperous town and Shosa (Major) Kimori is good friends with their mayor. But our Korean forces there are giving the locals a hard time and Shosa Kimori is having difficulty intervening. He doesn’t want to execute the minimal troops we have there for their insolence and we need to secure that town for resources.”
“We haven’t found anyone who has a high level of language skill in Nihonggo and is also Korean to be sent to intervene and deal with these soldiers. You are perfect and I have been waiting for you to arrive so you can be sent there to help our Shosa and our country for our greater glory.”
The Corporal gave him a big sneer as he shoved the paper in Jun-seok’s hands. Jun-seok blinked twice and looked at what was written.
He was definitely not going to stay in Ichihara and he wasn’t going back home. It would be another two days before he would see land again.

Everything You Need To Know About BBPS Service
Tumblr media
Everyone must have experienced standing in long queues to pay their phone, water and electricity bills. Before 2017, billing was time consuming and required a lot of effort. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on the advice of RBI  bill payment service  (BBPS) started. An integrated payment system known as BBPS provides users access to different types of bills, charges etc. at one place.
History of BBPS
It has long been necessary for the nation to have a single, easily accessible method of paying bills. The Reserve Bank of India published the rules for the Unified Payment System on 28 November 2014. National Payments Corporation of India created BBPS, which launched in August 2016.
How does it work?
The working of Bharat Bill Payment Service is divided into two components which cooperate with each other. The first and second are known as BBPCU and BBPOU respectively.
The central organization of Bharat Bill Payment Services, BBPCU aims to set guidelines and policies for all members. Additionally, it handles the clarification and settlement of disputes between the Agent and the BBPOU. The online and offline bill payment services of Bharat Bill Payment Service are run by another organization BBPOU.
Services by BBPS
bbps  Through the service, the following services will be available in a particular area:
Electricity bill
Water bill
Broadband bill
Gas bill payment
Dth
FASTag
Housing tax
Features of BBPS
This service is easily accessible everywhere.
Payment through BBPS can be done offline as well as online.
Cash, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI can be used to make the payment.
It is an integrated system for payment of bills that connects banks, billers and customers.
Benefits of BBPS
It has become easier for the citizens of the country to use the BBPS service. People no longer need to wait in long queues for hours to pay their bills as it can now be done instantly.
bbps  The service, which is accessed by thousands of departments across the country, enables instant payment of DTH, broadband and water bills. These services make it possible to deliver accounts quickly from any place at any time.
You can deposit multiple bills faster in one place; No need to visit different websites of businesses or departments to submit different bills.
Bill payment through BBPS helps in cashless economy, thereby saving time and money. Customers can pay their BBPS service bills through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI or by cash in person.

episode twenty one of our podcast is now available for your listening pleasure (soundcloud) (itunes) (acast) (stitcher) (tunein).
we use netflix's newest teen rom-com 'to all the boys i've loved before' as an excuse to discuss some of our past crushes, plus we share some listener picks and believe us when we say, we're relieved we're not the only ones with questionable infatuations.
we also cover spike lee's newest, 'blackkklansman', HBO's 'sharp objects' (BEWARE OF SPOILERS!), recent stephen king mini-series 'castle rock', ariana grande's 'sweetener' LP, plus another of our favourite past-times: a timeline, of the grimes/azealia banks/elon musk IG story saga.
if you’re interested in reading more about what we discussed, then our ~recommended reading list~ is below, with all the links you could ever need...
as always, we began with a pun, including a reference to the channing tatum/jonah hill classic, 21 jump street. unfamiliar with such a cinematic behemoth? get on board.
on the news front, we discussed the upcoming remake of suspiria, including the new full trailer, promo poster, and it’s premiere at the venice film festival (& this red carpet photo),
we then went on to discuss the ongoing saga of azelia banks/grimes/elon musk. two useful articles: molly mchugh for the ringer, and this from high snobiety. the latter is a timeline which you know we adore.
onto movies: we discussed spike lee’s blackkklansman; here’s a link to boots riley’s criticisms, the wiki page of stephen king’s ’the dead zone’ and the episode of you must remember this which discusses DW griffith, director of birth of a nation.
we then moved onto netflix’s newest hit, to all the boys i’ve loved before; here’s author jenny han’s new york times piece in which she discusses her struggle to get the book adapted without whitewashing the cast, plus here’s some of vulture’s great TATBILB content, including hunter harris’s interview with peter kavinsky himself, noah centino.
on the tv front, we discussed castle rock and HBO’s summer southern gothic sharp objects, citing this piece by alison herman and again, vulture’s great content on the show.
MUSIC! ariana grande finally dropped ‘sweetener’ and apryl mentioned mitski’s ‘be the cowboy’, troye sivan’s ‘bloom’ and ‘marauder, the new one from interpol. their recent video for ‘if you really love nothing’ is one big mood: feed us spaghetti, ASAP, kristen stewart.
for our main topic, we discussed our questionable celebrity crushes of days gone by, plus we shared some of our listeners choices too. we’ll share these soon, but shouts to everyone who ever fancied a cartoon character: we hear you.
AND FINALLY: our obsessions of the week were (of course) castle rock’s bill skarsgard and interpol’s daniel kessler. we pride ourselves on being predictable.

usages In addition to 말하다, there are many verbs in Korean that prefer to be used with a quoted clause. I’d like to show you a few of them.
1) To think: 생각하다 저는 그 여자가 별로 안 예쁘다고 생각해요 = I think that girl isn’t that pretty 캐나다와 미국이 비슷하지 않다고 생각합니다 = I think Canada and the US aren’t similar 저는 이 소설가가 다른 소설가들보다 월등히 낫다고 생각합니다 = I think this novelist is much better than other novelists
2) To believe: 믿다 If one “believes” something, quoted can be used. For example: 저는 우리 팀이 이길 거라고 믿어요 = I believe that our team will win
3) To call something: 부르다 When talking about what an object is “called,” ~을/를 can be attached to the object, and ~(이)라고 can be attached to the word that it is referred to. For example:
사람들은 그 건물을 한국타워라고 불러요 = People call that building “Korea tower”
Using this type of sentence is a more natural way to tell somebody what your name is. The common way for foreigners to introduce themselves in Korean would be:
“제 이름은 김의지입니다”
Although correct, it is kind of a direct translation of “my name is…” in English. In Korean, it is more common/natural to introduce yourself using ~(이)라고. In most cases, you add something before your name to describe yourself even more. For example:
안녕하세요, 저는 캐나다에서 온 김의지라고 합니다 = Hi, my name is 김의지, and I come from Canada (I am 김의지, from Canada)
4) To promise: 약속하다 When “promising” to do an action, it is common to add a future tense quoted construction to the action you promise to do. For example: 현금을 내일 주겠다고 약속했다 = I promised to give you (the) cash tomorrow 제가 아빠에게 숙제를 다 할 거라고 약속했어요 = I promised dad that I would do all my homewor 이 정보를 내일까지 다 입력해 줄 거라고 약속했어요 = I promised that I would input all of this information by tomorrow
5) Finishing a sentence with 그렇다 Often times you will hear the final word of a sentence with a quote (instead of being 말하다, 하다 or any of the other words specified above) as 그렇다 오빠가 이거를 안 한다고 말했어 오빠가 이거를 안 한다고 했어 오빠가 이거를 안 한다고 그랬어
= My older brother said he wasn’t going to do this
It is also possible to use these quoted conjugations to ask what a person says. For example, if you want to ask what somebody said, you can attach ~(이)라고 to 뭐
뭐라고? = What did you say? 뭐라고요? = What did you say? 뭐라고 했어요? = What did you say? 뭐라고 말했어요? = What did you say? 아빠가 뭐라고 말했어요? = What did dad say?
저는 내일 캐나다에 갈 거예요 = I’m going to Canada tomorrow 내일 캐나다에 갈 거라고요? = (You said that) you’re going to Canada tomorrow?
그는 돈이 없다고 했어요 = He said that he doesn’t have money 돈이 있다고? = (Did you say) he has money? 아니요, 없다고요 = No, (I said that) he doesn’t have money
Using Quoted Sentences with ~는 것
Adding ~는 것 after any of these plain form conjugations is an abbreviation of a quoted clause.
간다는 것 is abbreviation of 간다고 하는 것 갔다는 것 is an abbreviation of 갔다고 하는 것 가겠다는 것 is an abbreviation of 가겠다고 하는 것
desc 너의 여자 친구가 예쁘다는 것을 잊어버렸어 = I forgot (the fact that) that your girlfriend was pretty
action
그가 나를 싫어하는 것을 알아 = I know that he doesn’t like me 그가 나를 싫어한다는 것을 알아 = I know that (it is said that) he doesn’t like me
In place of “것” in these cases, it is quite common to find the words “사실” (fact) and“소문” (rumor). These are often used because these are nouns whose meaning inherently implies that something was said. For example:
그 여자가 다른 남자랑 애기가 있다는 소문이 있습니다 = There is a rumor that that woman has a baby with another man
그 여자의 남편이 비서랑 바람을 피운다는 소문이 있어요 = There is a rumor that that woman’s husband is having an affair with his secretary
Instead of:
그 여자의 남편이 비서랑 바람을 피우는 것이 있어요 = There is a rumor that that woman’s husband is having an affair with his secretary
This same principle can be used in the past tense as well (remember to use the plain form):
그녀가 시험에 떨어졌다는 소문을 들었어요 = I heard a rumor that she failed the test 부장님이 작년에 미국에 갔다는 것을 잊어버렸어요 = I forgot (the fact) that the boss went to America last year
future with ida
-을 거 + 이다 + ~라고 하는 것 = -을 거라는 것
그녀가 곧 결혼할 거라는 사실을 잊어버렸어요 = I forgot (the fact that) that she will be getting married soon 대통령이 한국에서 떠날 거라는 소문이 있다 = There is a rumor that the president will leave Korea soon
II.Reporting a Question:
Action Verbs~(느)냐 + 고 (Speaking/Listening Verb) Descriptive Verb  ~(으)냐고 Quoting Questions with 이다
Examples of question related words 1. 묻다 [mut-da] = to ask 2. 물어보다 [mu-reo-bo-da] = to ask 3. 말하다 [ma-ra-da] = to say 4. 질문하다 [jil-mun-ha-da] = to ask a question
Question: 누구예요? (Who are you?) Verb in intimate interrogative: 누구냐 + 고 묻다. 누구냐고 물었어요. (She) asked who (I) am?
1. 학생이에요? = Are you a student? 학생이냐고 물어봤어요.They asked me if I was a student. / I asked her if she was a student.
2. 뭐예요? = What is it?   뭐냐고 물어봤어요. = She asked what this is. / I asked what it is. / They asked what that is.
3. 누가 그렇게 말했어요? = Who said so? → 누가 그렇게 말했냐고 → 누가 그렇게 말했냐고 물었어요. = I asked who said so. / They asked who said such a thing. *
왜 안 왔냐고 물어봤는데, 대답을 안 해요. [wae an wat-nya-go mu-reo-bwat-neun-de, dae-da-beul an hae-yo.] =  I asked him why he didn’t come here, but he won’t answer.
저한테 어디 가냐고 말했어요. [ jeo-han-te eo-di ga-nya-go ma-rae-sseo-yo.] = He asked me where I was going.
저는 몇 살이냐고 물어보는 게 제일 싫어요. [ jeo-neun myeot sa-ri-nya-go mu-reo-bo-neun ge je-il si-reo-yo.] =  I hate it the most when people ask me how old I am.
5. 저도 가야 되냐고 물어봐 주세요. [ jeo-do ga-ya doe-nya-go mu-reo-bwa ju-se-yo.] = Please ask them if I have to come along, too.그가 무엇을 좋아하느냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked him what he likes (another translation could be:)
우리 아빠는 나에게 어디 가느냐고 물어봤어 = My dad asked me where I am going 우리 아빠는 나에게 어디 갔느냐고 물어봤어 = My dad asked me where I went 우리 아빠는 나에게 어디 가겠느냐고 물어봤어 = My dad asked me where I will go
지진이 어떻게 생기느냐고 물어봤다 = I asked how earthquakes happen/occur 사위가 어디 갔느냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked where my son-in-law went 저는 부장님에게 우리가 그렇게 해야 하느냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked our boss if we had to do it like that
That being said, Korean people will be more inclined to say that ~냐고 (without ~느) looks and sounds more naturalPersonally, I suggest that you use the simple ~냐고 which is the form that is more commonly said by Korean speakers. ~냐고 is also the form that I have always used whenever I quote a question. However, you should keep in the back of your mind that the official usage is ~느냐고.
desc 아빠에게 지금 편안하냐고 물어봤어 = I asked my dad if he is/was comfortable/relaxed 저는 친구에게 그 여자가 예쁘냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked my friend if that girl was pretty 이런 반팔이 집에 많으냐고 물어봤어 = I asked if there were many of these types of t-shirts at home 그 사람이 나한테 앞날에 뭐 하고 싶으냐고 물어봤어 = That person asked me what I want to do in the future
~느냐고 should be attached when quoting a question with 있다 or 없다. they are verbs in this case not adjectives
Just like with other verbs, 있느냐 and 없느냐 are often spoken/written as 있냐 and 없냐 and would be seen as correct by Korean people.
Here are some examples: 저는 그에게 수영할 수 있느냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked him if he could swim 아빠에게 엄마를 왜 함부로 대하고 있느냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked dad why he is treating mom disrespectfully
ida 나는 그 사람이 우리 선생님이냐고 물어봤어 = I asked if that person is our teacher 방학이 언제(이)냐고 물어봤어 = I asked when vacation is 그곳이 어디(이)냐고 물어봤어 = I asked where that place is 그것이 뭐(이)냐고 물어봤어 = I asked what that thing is 그 사람이 누구(이)냐고 물어봤어 = I asked who that person is 이 신사가 누구냐고 물어봤습니다 = I asked who this gentlemen is/was 저는 제 친구에게 한국으로 이사하고 싶은 이유가 뭐냐고 물어봤어요 = I asked my friend ‘what is the reason you want to move to Korea?’ 제가 점원에게 그 핸드폰이 좋은 핸드폰이냐고 물어봤지만 그는 모른다고 했어요 = I asked the salesperson if that cellphone is good, but he said that he didn’t know 저 학교를 다니는 학생들이 똑똑한 학생들이냐고 물어봤어요 = He asked if the students who attend that school are smart students
Also notice that by adding ~(이)냐고 to 이다, you can ask questions in sentences that use the ~ㄹ 것이다 future tense conjugation. For example:
나는 그들에게 결혼식에 갈 거냐고 물어봤어 = I asked if they were going to go to the wedding 나는 그에게 어디 갈 거냐고 물어봤어 = I asked where he is going to go 저는 그에게 앞날에 뭐 할 거냐고 물어보고 싶어요 = I want to ask what he will do in the future 그는 저한테 여자친구랑 언제 결혼할 거냐고 물어봤어요 = He asked me when I will marry my girlfriend

아/어/여 달라고 하다 (a/eo/yeo dallago hada)  to ask someone to do - - is a grammatical structure that expresses "to ask someone to do something." 달라고 can be changed to 주라고 (jurago) using the verb 주다 (juda – “to give”), but 달라고 is more common. 달라고 cannot be used in its dictionary form on its own and must be used with -고, the particle that expresses a reported speech, to form a sentence. The mood, tense and voice are expressed in the last verb, 하다 (hada). Here, 하다 means “to say,” so it can be replaced with 말하다 (malhada – “to say”), 얘기하다 (yaegihada – “to talk”), 요청하다 (yocheonghada – “to request”) or 요구하다 (yoguhada – “to demand”).
1. 남동생이 자꾸 놀아 달라고 해요. [놀다] (namdongsaeng-i jakku nora dallago haeyo) - My younger brother keeps asking me to play with him.
2. 엄마 아빠가 성적표 보여 달라고 하셨어요. [보이다] (eomma appa-ga seongjeokpyo boyeo dallago hasyeosseoyo) - My parents asked me to show them my report card.
3. 민경 씨가 전화해 달라고 했어요. [전화하다] (mingyeong ssi-ga jeonhwahae dallago haesseoyo) - Mingyeong wants you to call her back.
4. 비한테 안아 달라고 할 거예요. [안다] (bi-hante ana dallago hal geo-yeyo) - I will ask Rain to hug me.
5. 친구한테 숙제 도와 달라고 했어. [돕다] (chingu-hante sukje dowa dallago haesseo) - I asked my friend to help me with my homework달다 is sometimes translated to “request” in these situations. For example:
휴지를 달라고 했어요 = I said “please give me a tissue”
As I mentioned, it is also possible to use 달다 when the original speaker of a quoted sentence asks for an action to be done for him/her. In essence, 달다 replaces 주다 in ~아/어 주다 in these cases. For example: 학생은 선생님에게 성적을 올려 달라고 했어요 = The student said to the teacher “raise my grades” 다음 주에 입주할 거라서 그때 와 달라고 했어요 = We will be moving into the new house next week, so I told them to come then 어떤 공무원이 우리 집에 와서 설문조사를 답해 달라고 했어요 = Some government worker came to our house and requested that we answer a survey 그들에게 조용히 해 달라고 했지만 그들은 아직 너무 시끄러워요 = I told them to “please be quiet,” but they are still very loud
request with butag 저는 부탁이 하나 있어요 = I have one favor 저는 더 자세한 설명을 부탁했어요 = I asked for a clearer explanation 남편에게 청소를 부탁했어요 = I asked my husband to take care of the cleaning (for me) 빨래를 아들에게 부탁하고 집에서 나왔어요 = I asked my son to take care of the laundry for me and left the house 저는 신입사원에게 그 일을 부탁했어요 = I asked the new employee to take care of that work (for me)
In the example sentences so far, 부탁하다 has come after a noun. If the favor (or what you are requesting) is an action, you can attach ~아/어 달라고 to the verb, followed by 부탁하다
저는 그에게 더 자세히 설명해 달라고 부탁했어요 = I asked him to explain it more clearly One more peculiar thing about the word “부탁하다” is that it is often said as “부탁(을) 드리다
“드리다” is the honorific form of “주다” and is used when the receiving person deserves high respect. When using “부탁,” the person receiving the favor is you, and you should never use 드리다 when talking about yourself receiving something. The way I think about it is that I am giving a request to somebody, which would allow me to use 드리다. For example:
엄마에게 그것을 사 달라고 부탁 드렸어요 = I asked my mother to buy that for me
-지 라고 하다-ji mal-lago hada to say not to do something
is used when "someone tells the subject NOT to (VERB)".
말라 [mal-la] is an 'imperative ending' that means "do not", "should not", or "never". 고 하다 [go hada] is a phrase meaning, "tells that..." or "says that..."
Formation Verb Stem + - 지 말라고 하다 [ji malrago hada] 믿다 [mittda] "to believe or to trust" 믿지 말라고 하다 "(He) says (I) should NOT trust..."
말하다 [malhada] "to talk / to tell" 말하지 말라고 하다 "(He) says (I) should NOT tell..."
운전하다 [unjeonhada]"to drive" 운전하지 말라고 하다 "(She) says (I) should NOT drive..."
Example Sentences
그는 아무도 믿지 말라고 하였습니다. Geuneun a-mudo mitji malrago hayeosseumnida. "He told (me) not to trust anyone."
아버지는 (저에게) 술을 마시지 말라고 하셨습니다. Abeojineun (jeo-ege) sureul masiji malrago hasyeosseumnida. "My father told (me) that I should not drink (alcohol)."
친구가 아무한테도 비밀을 말하지 말라고 했습니다. Chinguga amuhantedo bimireul malhaji malrago haesseumnida. "My friend told (me) not to tell his secret to anyone." 어머니는 절대 술을 마시고 운전하지 말라고 하셨습니다. Eomeonineun jeoldae sureul masigo unjeonhaji malrago hasyeosseumnida. "My mother told (me) I should never drink and drive."
IV. Reporting a Propositive + 고 (Speaking/Listening Verb)
내일 공원에 가자 = Tomorrow, let’s go to the park 여자 친구가 공원에 가자고 했어 = My girlfriend said “let’s go to the park”
선생님이 수업 시간 동안 열심히 공부하자고 했어요 = The teacher said “let’s study hardduring class time”
-대요,-래-daeyo,-reyo 요They say
you learned the following grammar points: -(ㄴ/는)다고 -(이)라고 These are used for quoting what someone has said and are also used with verbs related to speech. In that lesson, the following sample sentences were introduced: 뭐라고 했어요? = What did they say? 내일 온다고 했어요. = They said they would come tomorrow. 언제 온다고 했어요? = When did they say they would come? 이거 재미있다고 들었어요. = I heard that this is fun.
You can make all of the above sentences shorter by using the endings -(ㄴ/는)다고 해요 --> -(ㄴ/는)대요 -(이)라고 해요 --> -(이)래요 Although it’s basically the same thing, the latter forms are more commonly used in everyday
Action Verbs present+ -(느)ㄴ대요 pas+ -았/었/였대요 [Future Tense] Verbs + -(으)ㄹ 거 + 래요
action Ex) 지금 간대요. (= They say they are going now.) Ex) 어제 만났대요. (= I heard they met yesterday.) 내일 만날 거래요. (= He says he will meet them tomorrow.)
(= He says that he’s busy now.) no se 추울 거래요. (= They say it will be cold.)
친구래요. (= She says that he’s a friend.)학생이었대요. (= They say they were students.) 마지막일 거래요. (= They say it will be the last time.)
When you use the -(ㄴ/는)대요/-(이)래요 endings, you usually deliver a piece of information that the other person doesn’t know, or that you think they don’t know. If you want to emphasize the fact that YOU, at least, have heard something and it might not be the exact truth, you need to use verbs such as “듣다 (= to hear)” and say “-다고/라고 들었어요
Sample Sentences 간대요[gandaeyo] -They say they are going." or "He says he's leaving." 갔대요.[gatdaeyo] - "I heard that they went there."/"He says that he went there." 갈 거래요. [gal geo-raeyo]- "They say they will go."or "He says he will go.
학생이래요. [haksaeng-iraeyo]-"I heard he was a student." or "They say he's a student.
이게 제일 좋대요. [i-ge je-il jo-tae-yo.] = They say that this is the best.
여기 정말 유명하대요. [yeo-gi jeong-mal yu-myeong-ha-dae-yo.] = They say this place is really famous.
몰랐대요. [mol-lat-dae-yo.] = He says he didn’t know
어딘지 모른대요. [eo-din-ji mo-reun-dae-yo.] = He says he doesn’t know where it is.
이 사람 정말 유명한 사람이래요. [i sa-ram jeong-mal yu-myeong-han sa-ra-mi-rae-yo.] = They say this person is a very famous person.
제 친구가 한국에 올 거래요. [ je chin-gu-ga han-gu-ge ol geo-rae-yo.] = My friend says he will come to Korea.
그 사람은 한국에 와 본 적이 없대요. [geu sa-ra-meun han-gu-ge wa bon jeo-gi eop-dae-yo.] = He says he’s never come to Korea
길 건너편에 우리 카페랑 비슷한 카페가 생겼대요![Gil geonneopyeon-e uri kape-rang biseutan kape-ga saenggyeotdaeyo!] -I heard that someone made a cafe similar to our cafe across the street.
2. 이름도 비슷하고, 분위기도 비슷하고, 메뉴도 비슷하대요![Ireum-do biseuthago, bunwigi-do biseuthago, menyu-do biseuthadaeyo!] -I heard that the name is similar, the atmosphere is similar, and the menu is similar too!
3. 전에 우리 카페에서 일했던, 민수가 만들었대요![Jeon-e uri kape-eseo ilhaetdeon, minsu-ga mandeureotdaeyo!] -I heard that Minsu, who used to work in our cafe, made that one.
This structure is translated as "I heard that..." or "They say that..." -대요 (daeyo) originally comes from -다고 (말)해요 (-dago (mal)haeyo), and for the present tense you add ㄴ and make it -ㄴ대요 (-ndaeyo), and for the past tense, you add 았/었/였 and make it -았/었/였대요 (-at/eot/yeotdaeyo). But with nouns, however, since the original form of the reported speech is [ noun + -(이)라고 (말)해요 ], you use the -(이)라고 ((i)rago) part and change it to -(이)래요 ((i)raeyo) instead of -대요 (daeyo). And this is applied to the future tense, too, because the word -거 (geo) in the future tense ending -ㄹ/을 거예요 (l/eul geo-yeyo) is a noun as well.
. -(ㄴ/는)다던데(요) and 2. -(이)라던데(요)They say -Answer required review   1. 제 친구가 지금 바빠요. = My friend is busy now. → 제 친구가 지금 바쁘대요. = My friend says that she is busy now.
2. 이게 제일 좋은 거예요. = This is the best one. → 이게 제일 좋은 거래요. = They say that this is the best on
지금 와요. = She’s coming now. 지금 온대요. = She says she’s coming now. 지금 온다던데요. = She says she’s coming now. (+ (ex) Should we wait?/What do you think?)
유명해요. = He’s famous. 유명하대요. = They say he’s famous. 유명하다던데요. = They say he’s famous. (+ (ex) But you said otherwise, right?)
* The same applies to -(이)래(요) and -(이)라던데(요).
학생이에요. = He’s a student. 학생이래요. = He says he’s a student. 학생이라던데요. = He says he’s a student. (+ (ex) What shall we do then?)
공원이에요. = They are at a park. / It is a park. 공원이래요. = They say they are at a park. 공원이라던데요. = They say they are at a park. (+ (ex) Shall we go there?)
Difference between -(ㄴ/는)다던데(요) and -(ㄴ/는)다는데(요) There is a slight difference in nuance between -던데 and -는데, and it’s based on the fact that -던 is usually associated with the past tense whereas -는 is associated with the present tense.
지금 온다던데요. = They said that they would come here now. 지금 온다는데요. = They are saying that they will come here now.
유명하다던데요. = I heard that she’s famous. 유명하다는데요. = He is saying that she’s famous.
* The same applies to -(이)래(요), -(이)라던데(요) and -(이)라는데(요).
학생이라던데요. = They told me that they were students. 학생이라는데요. = They say that they are students.
공원이라던데요. = They said that they were at a park. 공원이라는데요. = They say that they are at a park.
Sample Sentences 여기 위험하다던데요. [yeo-gi wi-heom-ha-da-deon-de-yo.] = I heard that this place is dangerous. (+ (ex) What do you think?)
혼자 갈 거라던데요. [hon-ja gal geo-ra-deon-de-yo.] = She said she would go there alone. (+ (ex) Shall I talk to her again? / You can’t go with her.) 3.
그 사람도 모른다던데요. [geu sa-ram-do mo-reun-da-deon-de-yo.] = He said that he doesn’t know either. (+ (ex) So why keep asking him?

10 Best Forex Brokers Accepting US Clients
In US, the regulatory environment is quite strict and complicated for the forex brokers. Besides, the global financial crisis of 2008 resulted in the creation of The Dodd-Frank Wallstreet Reform Act 2010 in US which imposed strict rules and regulations on the forex brokers of US. As a result forex brokers for US clients reduced rapidly in US. Many international licensed and regulated brokers stopped accepting US traders as clients. For many years, the number of forex brokers accepting US clients was only 3: Oanda, GAIN Capital LLC (Forex.com) and TD Ameritrade. However, the number of forex brokers for US traders has increased now.  The US traders now have two options to trade, either with US regulated forex brokers or with offshore forex brokers. The regulated forex broker in the US must be registered with the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) or the NFA (National Futures Association). This has ensured client safety and market integrity. In addition to this, regulated forex brokers accepting US clients have to obtain RFED (Retail Foreign Exchange Dealer) registration. Moreover, hedging was eliminated by the introduction of the First In, First Out (FIFO) rule for the regulated forex brokers for US traders. So, many traders are now going to the best offshore forex brokers that accept US clients. Here, an overall review of the best regulated and offshore brokers that accept US clients will be provided in this article.   These are some of the best offshore forex brokers that accept US clients. The reasons why US traders run to offshore brokers are fewer restrictions, less hassle, no limitations and great results. However, it also involves some risks as they are not regulated brokers.
