These movies have such fanfiction/fanart potential. An amazing ensemble cast with characters of so many shades. The least I could was make a moodboard for it.

Mast Mein Rehne Ka (2023)
A man chooses an old widower's home for his first robbery, kicking off a set of events that have them both look at life in a new way and with new companions in the starkness of the city of Mumbai.
An original, heart felt, thought provoking and simple story about getting old, friendships, lost opportunities and struggle to survive. I absolutely loved it. It is certainly original and these days when it is hard to come across something new, this must be commended. The two leads, as usual, are great but I was very impressed by Abhishek Chauhan and Monika Panwar. I hope I see more work by them in the future. They were very good in their role.
I highly recommend this if you are looking for something original, authentic and has a heartfelt message. It is on Amazon Prime.

MAST SE REHNE KA
One of the best movies of 2023 is… 🥁
Mast Se Rehne Ka.
This movie is such a whiff of fresh air in the suffocating chock hold of typical Bollywood rom-com, murder mysteries and mediocre plot lines.
This movie revolves around three characters.
Neena gupta. A widow woman who’s son lives abroad and does not give a single flying fuck to what his mother feels and wants. But she is a carefree woman who is independent and enjoys her freedom in India khulke (openly, completely).
Next comes Jacky Shroff. A old man who has remained healthy throughout his life. But slowly he’s lost the will to live after his wife died.
Then comes. Nanhe. He’s a poverty stricken young man who wishes to earn some money and maybe a little fame by tailoring dresses. He’s completely drowning in debts and has no other choice but to steal.
The story is basically revolving around how the thief tries to rob them but he also has a kind heart. How Neena gives Jacky a hope to live. And how jacky and Neena bond together in what people call the “second innings of life”.
All in all. It is a bittersweet and funny movie which teaches us many lessons as it moves ahead. :)
A must watch!

Mast Mein Rehne Ka Review - Jackie Shroff & Neena Gupta Make This Mast-Watch
Two lonely senior citizens strike an unlikely friendship and try to catch a thief who targets vulnerable retired residents like them in "Mast Mein Rehne Ka." Read our review of the Bollywood film starring Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Sometimes, or perhaps too often, people forget that age is going to catch up with them and this memory lapse often makes them unkind. I remember reading a recent news report about a rise in the number of retired people being exploited, cheated, and duped, and in the majority of cases, the perpetrators are family and relatives. In Uttar Pradesh, India, the state govt…

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned how much I love the movie Goodbye starring Amitabha Bachchan, Rashmika, Neena Gupta, Pavail Gulati, Sunil Grover, Abhishek Khan, and Sabil Mehta among others.
It’s a Hindi movie, and it is really touching. The premise isn’t new: adult children come home to attend their mother’s funeral. They content with traditions and customs and their father’s attitude.
Nevertheless, it’s a great film that will make you laugh and cry in equal measure. It is a sweet, genuine, sad, and also hilariously real movie about customs and beliefs surrounding death, how the people who are left behind deal with the loss, and how they move on.
Also, I just learned that this was the last performance of Arun Bali, who passed away on the film’s release day.

She will also produce an Untitled Marvel Studios Project. She was an executive producer and a production designer on Black Widow. She also portrayed Melina Vostokoff disguised as Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow. She portrayed an alternate Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame. It will be making its way to Indian theatres on July 9 this year.Scarlett Ingrid Johansson portrayed Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Widow. The movie is helmed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige. What's even more interesting is that viewers will witness the new Marvel villain, Taskmaster. In the upcoming film, pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. The storyline of Black Widow, the release of which was delayed due to the pandemic, is based around sisterhood and the "complicated feelings" that come along with her and her ally Yelena Belova's (Florence Pugh) complicated relationship. Speaking about the change in Natasha's portrayal, Scarlett said, "Now people, young girls, are getting a much more positive message, but it's been incredible to be a part of that shift and be able to come out the other side and be a part of that old story, but also progress. After playing the role since 2010, Johansson noted that the character is empowered in her vulnerability, calling her last act of sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame "incredibly powerful".Īlso read: Neena Gupta on why she did not marry someone while pregnant with Masaba: ‘I was still attached to Vivian’įollowing the events of Captain America: Civil War, Natasha's origin story is unlike her previous appearances in the Marvel universe. Scarlett acknowledged that her character uses her sexuality as both "a means to feel" and a tactic to manipulate the people around her. "At one point calls her a piece of meat, and maybe, at that time, that actually felt like a compliment," she said. While it doesn't seem like the actor is too keen about the depiction of Natasha in previous films, she acknowledged the obvious erotic elements of her character. And Tony even refers to her as something like that at one point. Scarlett further continued speaking about her character and added, "Really talked about like she's a piece of something, like a possession or a thing or whatever - like a piece of a**, really.
Tumblr media
Speaking about it, during a 2019 press visit to the set of the upcoming movie, Scarlett Johansson said, "I mean, you look back at Iron Man 2 and while it was really fun and had a lot of great moments in it, the character is so sexualized, you know?" Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson, ahead of the release of Black Widow, spoke out about the way her Marvel character has been treated like a "piece of a**" in past films.Īccording to Fox News, while on set for her first standalone film in the franchise, the actor revealed her contempt for the hypersexualization of her character, also known as Natasha Romanoff, specifically in the Iron Man sequel.

I like the story and the message, and Ayushmann's tendency for 'unusual' (in Bollywood) stories is always fun to see; however, this movie suffers a bit in just being very slowly progressing. Of course, that could just be my typical thought about romantic dramas in general - I think this tries to be more of a rom-com, and it does have moments for that, but largely it seems to be a bit lacking in the 'com' department.
Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta as the (relatively) small-town folk who have a hard time accepting reality is played well enough, I guess (though, like, honestly - fuck what others think, if your kid is happy why isn't that enough?), and I know you've got to be delicate when it comes to 'stuck in their way' parents with any topic they're stuck in their way on (I'm not good at this), but like, I think that's also what irritated me most: just how frequently both of our heroes would just sorta shy away from contact (not literally, of course; one of them does get beat up in a weird scene) when the fight came to them (or, worse, when they brought the fight and then just backed down).
Parental emotional blackmail is very real, especially in the culture and doubly especially when it comes to marriage - but at the same time, he knows his parents better than anyone, and Ayushmann's character seems to give no damns about this: he coerces him to go to the town for the wedding, then coerces him on the train, and then coerces him multiple times up until the very end. Like, love, sure - but it's almost like he's hoping that this man will stand in for his own asshole father, and refuses to realize that this small town man - educated or not - isn't just the beacon of forward thought. In fact, he brings way more trouble than is necessary into Aman's life with his actions.
My favorite character is Maanvi Gagroo as Aman's cousin Rajni/Goggle. She gets a bit lost amidst the shuffle of "unaccepting parents," but is still good fun whenever on screen. Her parents, especially her dad, are fun too, but they sorta just flip-flop between pushover and voice of reason. You just keep waiting for someone to finally put their foot down and be like "enough of this nonsense" - but it just never happens.
