Shiva Organization- Main military power, ruling body. Shiva Org controls most of the weapons and ship manufacturing market. Also specializes in human augmentation, genetic manipulation, exploration of interstellar space and colonization. Publicly honest about the latter two.

Terratron- Largest terraforming company. Builds and deploys terraforming 'stacks', large structures that generate atmosphere suitable for humans.

Company slogan- "Making homes away from home."

Ark Transport- A side company of Terratron, Ark Transport is a ferry service that carries what few animals and plants remain for transplantation to newly terraformed planets, followed later by colonist and prefabricated structures.

Species (so far)

Humanity- Now trillions strong, and expanding out into the galaxy at what some might consider an alarming rate. New planets are colonized everyday, others seeded with terraformers. Humanity has attempted First Contact with one alien species so far.

The Elders- Beings who have taken up residence in the Nether, made entirely of thought and energy. While no bodies have ever been found, the remains of a galaxy spanning race can be found, from stray ships to entire stations.

Species D-97- There has not been enough data collected on this insecticide species to earn a nickname. D-97 was first encountered by Dagus Dubh at Maw Station 2, where an Elder station that controlled a worm hole was overgrown with organic matter. Entry into the station showed the creature was using the station as a shell of sorts, its organs and other internal workings bound into the corridors and computer systems.

D-97's ships are gown rather than built. Huge insects from oxygen rich and/or high gravity worlds are hollowed out upon death and used to ferry new colonies to distant planets. D-97 appears to not have FTL (faster than light) travel, and uses solar sails to ride interstellar winds. Their ships are amazingly sturdy, built with several layers of chitin that is a distance cousin to Terran insects. D-97 operates off a hive mind.

Quantum Weavers- A race of parasite like aliens who jump from star to star, feeding of solar energy, radiation and star matter, killing the host star in the process. Weaver ships are made of Quantum Crystal, created from converting massive amounts of energy into mass. The Crystal ships act as transport and data storage. Energy weapons have no effect on Weaver ships, simply energizing them further.

The Weavers themselves are unsettling. Faceless save for thin golden membranes where eyes should be, along with elongated arms, legs and porcelain white skin. They are governed by a caste system. The two currently know caste are Warrior, known for wearing red crystalline armor into battle and able to weave weapons on the battle field as well as create crystalline golums to use in battle.. The second is Ship Master, who wear flowing blue robes. Ship Masters have a symbiotic relationship with the Quantum ships they weave for use and must stay aboard. The ship fractures and denigrates if its Master is killed.

Recent events:

Contact with Ares Corporation- Brought an end to Slide Invasions. Shiva now focuses on expanding outwards into their universe rather than through parallel universes.

Discovery of Species D-97-  Discovered by Dagus Dubh during exploration past The Maw. First encountered alien species.

The Sun Portal- The connection of the Shiva universe and the Millennium City universe by reactivated Elder tech, using the suns in both verses as a convergence point for the portals.

Siege of Terra- Part of the ongoing civil war with Old Shiva loyalist, who want to topple the current bod in power of Shiva, along with taking the fight to Ares to gain an upper hand in the multiverse (which is really not a good idea). The death of Alberton Swift, leader of Shiva, occurred during the Siege.

Hunting the Cancer Mage- While not a major event, this was a major crisis that was averted. The Mage was an escaped Psyker with the ability to create disses, control and mutate infected individuals on a massive scale. The stars in the system he took refuge in became sickly as well.

Encounter with the Quantum Weavers- Humanity's first encounter with the Quantum Weavers was in a mining colony system. When peaceful First Contact failed, Shiva responded will military force, loosing twenty ships and using their last Nova bomb to destroy the system and Weaver ship.

Ryan gathered his lunch from the counter and scanned the room for a good seat.  No one seemed interested in him; they were all wrapped up in their own conversations.  In a way it was a good thing, because then they wouldn't realize that he didn't have anyone to eat with. But Ryan refused to sit alone on his first day, so he made his way across the room to a table where a dark haired girl sat.
