ok to be clear I do not support matthew trying to change jay. but he was a real one for getting rid of those fucking pillows, even if only for the rest of season 6
The new black mirror season is so good! Like I know the last season was a huge disappointment and kinda felt like the show had run it’s course. But OMG I’ve only finished the first two episodes but already they are some of my most favorite episodes to date!
Wow, familial love really ended up being a theme here huh?
Some Atlas (by the incredible @sodaspons) warmups for your consideration.
We have entered the unknowable for me in terms of 2k12 canon as I still have yet to see what isn't on Netflix and know next to nothing about the show moving forward.
I love Karai and Venus' dynamic so much! Adorable! I love that they get to talk about the whole guardian thing and share memories of Shen <3
Since I included HC Rise! Miwa:
'Jitsu for Justice' (Lou's second to last film and the last one before he proposes to BM) had a lone wolf and cub storyline in which Lou meets a young deaf & mute girl and takes her on as an apprentice. She would reappear in ‘Hot Soup Forever’, Lou’s last film.
This young girl is Huay Lian (meaning Blossom and Lotus respectively) played by child actress Miwa (undecided last name). This is also why Splinter knows some sign language to teach to his kids.
Lian is played by either Oroku Miwa (the descendant of Saki’s son/ Karai’s brother Hiroto) or Miwa Smith (with Jennika’s last name). Her and Yoshi's dynamic is very sweet and kind of parental/ fun uncle and precocious niece.
Inspirations: Mara Wilson & Danny DeVito (Matilda) in behind the scenes and Harley Keener in Iron Man 3 & Endgame and Jesper & Margu's dynamic from Klaus in JfJ and HSF.
The drawing itself is Miwa and Yoshi/ Lou on the red carpet. Yes, his suit is bright blue and sparkly in my head.
heeeey I'm sorry if theres like an explination post or smth, but i've been trying to scroll to the bottom of your tumblr for a while now, and im just gonna ask, your au looks really cool, but i have no clue whats going on (also is the usagi x leo ship overall bad or just in your au, im confused on that lol), so like once again im way sorry if im asking a super obvious question, or being a pian at all, and your art is like super cool, and from what ive seen this au looks way awesome ya know, i just don't have a clue to whats going on lol
No worries anon! Here to save the day.
Basically, the AU is mostly a fun thing I like to do with friends. Random shit-posty content in between major random lore drops, yay!
A quick summary would be:
The Addams! AU (also known as the Addams Family! ROTTMNT AU) is a ROTTMNT AU based on the Addams Family franchise and its themes of horror and weirdness. Certain important details are changed from ROTTMNT, such as Splinter and BM canonically being a couple. Usagi Miyamoto and OCs feature heavily.
Currently, we are mostly in just backstory moments in between less lore relevant modern day content, like snippets. What's going on is mostly just filler, day-by-day things, doodles I do, silly content my co-creators or friends create, etc. There's not too much lore to catch up on, don't fret. Currently I have a janky asf filler masterpost pinned if that will help explain better for you. It contains basic info, trigger warnings, important ages, and some references.
As for Leo × Usagi, it is not abusive in any other form canonically! That is just this AU.
The ship started either in the comics or more towards the 2003 TMNT show. As far as I am aware, that ship was okay from an age range perspective, and it is a popular form of ship between the two, Rise also being common.
2012 'Leosagi' would be predatory/pedophilic. It is not okay.
Rise! Leosagi is fine, as Usagi does not exist within Rise canon. He is typically changed around to be adjusted for Rise lore and to be shipped with Leo, so they are close in age. This is commonly where people ship Leo with Usagi Yojimbo, a version of Usagi that is on Netflix as well.
We decided to use Usagi because Usagi is a character commonly related to Leo. Not because we wanted to imply shipping or romance between them.
So this mystery image from Legacy was floating around:
And people were stumped on what it was or whether it was even official.
FJ DeSanto and Anna Malkova would confirm it’s legit and it was meant to be Straxxus.
Apparently the idea was Straxxus was to be the main bad guy of the proposed Legacy cartoon, and they had a lot of plans for him… but when Netflix passed on the show, Hasbro simply decided Legacy wouldn’t have a story… which explains… a lot.
I was wondering why Legacy was so weird and random with its concepts and “trilogy” if you can even call it that. Hasbro simply not having a story to go with it tracks, but I’m also wondering why they didn’t just make one up anyway. I get the sense Legacy in its first phase was SUPPOSED to, because of the loose theme of harvesting Energon and some of the character choices and gimmicks loosely reflecting it (while not his role in the anime, GF Metroplex mining for Energon for the Autobots tracks if you ask me). But like Earthrise, I guess they quietly ignored any story they had in mind and pressed on.
Going by Straxxus’s final design, I get the sense he was repurposed into Skullgrin and G2 Trooper since the body shape is similar.
But here’s my main problem: Straxxus doesn’t work as a multiversal big bad. He was always nothing more than a violent thug put into a leadership role in the absence of Megatron and Shockwave. His biggest claim to fame beyond that was creating a clone of Megatron he intended to use as his new body after his defeat by Blaster.
I’m assuming his ramshackle appearance for Legacy is intended to be a reference to this, and in fairness to the concept, his major role in the use of the Spacebridge in the Marvel comics probably was meant to tie into his multiversal role for the show…
BUT.
Jhiaxus is a much better fit in this proposed role, and indeed earlier comments about Legacy suggest Jhiaxus was the main villain, described as a Thanos type, alongside Dragon Megatron (who I assume was to be based more on his BM counterpart).
It would frankly make more sense to have Straxxus instead be Jhiaxus’ general leading the Vehicon-esque troopers against the Autobots and Maximals. Sort of the General Klump to Jhiaxus’ King K. Rool.
The other option I can see is Straxxus became a Herald of Unicron, and his role is comparable to ROTB Scourge. Unicron I believe was also supposed to have a role in Legacy as the reason the universes were colliding in the first place. I feel like this would be the most fitting, because I just don’t see Straxxus doing any thing of his own and would need Unicron to nudge him in the right direction.
Just to make sense of the Infernac Universe, I could see Straxxus wanting to access it in hopes it will smelt the multiverse to create a clean slate for himself and his Decepticons. Some fans
hypothesize that Infernac may also be the Firespace dimension from Galaxy Force.
And while it doesn’t smelt anything that I’m aware, I’m sure a story could have Straxxus manipulate it as his ultimate smelting pool.
It took me five days to watch "Inside Job" ever since I'd heard of its unfortunate cancellation. I am already losing respect for Netflix for suddenly canning their series. This is the second Netflix show that suddenly ended on a downer note, the first one being "Hoops" (which was well deserved because that show was fucking terrible).
These days, there are only two Netflix shows that I still come to the network for: "Big Mouth" and "Stranger Things". Speaking of BM, here go the bashers bashing it for still going on in favor of other shows. These people can go and get fucked because those Boomer Juniors have no place in society with the way they're being highly critical.
Now that I'm done with that rant, between this and HBO Max's restructuring resulting in the cancellation, shelvings and removal of shows/films, it looks like the streaming age is finally coming to an end. In the 10 years since Netflix's first batch of original programming, this is what everything has come down to.
As for "Inside Job", I found myself attached to some characters. Specifically, Brett Hand, a himbo that I wish to get with if he were not straight--and between him and Judd Birch from BM, it's a good thing I'm beginning my daily exercises, because I am in dire need of getting myself an impressive build like them.
It's a good thing I ended my subscription to Netflix and resorted to watching their shows I'm still fans of through other means, because it's gotten too expensive and they are still fading fast because they can't be bothered to let their shows continue to move on.
well, joan wasn't awful at all, but the writing of this sure was.
damn, so this is the ai in the world of entertainment episode that we get? that was kinda bad, ngl. gonna list some thoughts in bullet points cause i'm bad at structuring my thoughts, but here it goes:
netflix episode about netflix fucking over their customers and creatives, not paying their creatives enough, and then having their dumbass show get "cancelled" after one season. haha not funny. didn't laugh.
god the writing is so bad, what the hell happened to this show? this is just like the miley episode, in which i mean they keep talking in catchphrases and funny quips and it drives me insane. it's bad, don't do this. i know you guys can write great stuff.
i mean, the ai stuff is very current, but i don't think it was utilized to its best potential here. the premise just felt so silly and not even remotely possible, not like other bm episodes which truly felt like something that could happen.
i'll say, i did have fun with the malicious compliance plan of joan's. get them, girl. that said, what the fuck.
this one is completely on me but i don't know who salma hayek is so i didn't really laugh. sorry, ma'am.
the plot twist......meh. at least it wasn't 'ai gains sentience and tries to break free' (do Not try to replicate uss callister aka best episode), i appreciate that it was all joan's choice in the end.
michael cera cameo fun.
yeah those are my thoughts! this one's gonna be lower on my ranking, probs bottom 5. hopefully next one is better!
Yeah, S6 of Black Mirror doesn’t have that vibe it used to have (grr Netflix) but still it was good.
What I don’t understand is people hating especially Mazey Day, maybe because it’s more… fantastical? idk.. but even with that the old-black-mirrory message is still there.
You can still see glimpses of the old BM if you squint hard enough and open your mind a bit!!!!!
