We’re Making Progress!

The official word on the Wellston Community Garden has been only been LIVE 11 days!  WOW- and only in good, crazy ways, I feel like it’s been weeks!

 The response, the possibilities, has been nuts!  Today I am sitting down and gathering our (Dana and me) thoughts in a more organized fashion (she’s probably organized, I have a hot mess of little scrap notes that need a home!).  

 Our lovely 2018 Coal Festival queen, Jenna Secrest, has stepped up and joined in by making donation pots (can’t wait to see them!) and is leading a team of students from Wellston High School/AP Environmental Science class to help distribute fliers and volunteer in the garden!  Fliers are being created (Thanks to my sister, Jenny) and copies are being donated by Jenkins Care Community, along with sponsoring one of our first Special Abilities garden beds!

 The local FFA (Jackson) group is going to shower us with their talent and build all kinds of things for us, including, theoretically, two sheds.  Should be cool!

 We had help finding a source for manure (aged, so don’t worry!), maybe utility poles, pallet wood, seed potatoes - thanks Community Food Initiatives - , wildflower seeds - thanks to Neuma Beauty - , and I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch of things!

 Folks are donating money, signing up for volunteer hours on Earth Day weekend and buying from our Gifster registry to donate the plants needed for our habitat - they’re crazy low prices!  We even had two friends buy some birdhouses, are making them look pretty and donating them to our garden!

 Did I even mention that Kroger Corporate is already on board with a wonderful donation?!  How exciting is that!?  And, we have so many things in the works and so many different folks finding stuff, stepping up to the plate it’s awesome! Oh!  I guess I better get going and get back to working on the plans! Stay tuned and on behalf of Dana and me, THANK YOU!

Thank god for @neumabeauty for bring out my curls that I now have after #breastcancer treatment also to my mom for helping me to get my hair done. I have not been feeling myself but with the beautiful work my #hairstylist @hair.by.paola it puts a smile on my face. My gal has been by my side during my cancer journey hair.
