Kings and Their Lovers
Male Kings and Their Homoromantic or Erotic Relationships from Antiquity to Modern Times History offers numerous examples of male rulers who had homoromantic or erotic relationships with other men. These connections were often complex and influenced by cultural, societal, and personal factors. Here are some remarkable examples:
Antiquity
Alexander the Great (356–323 BC) The Macedonian king and famous conqueror had a particularly close relationship with Hephaestion, his childhood friend and confidant. Plutarch described Hephaestion as "Alexander's lover." After Hephaestion's death, Alexander was inconsolable and ordered a nationwide mourning. The Persian eunuch Bagoas is also mentioned in ancient sources as Alexander's lover.
Emperor Hadrian (76–138 AD) The Roman emperor is known for his passionate relationship with the young Greek Antinous. When Antinous drowned in the Nile, Hadrian was devastated. He had his lover deified, founded the city of Antinoopolis, and erected statues of Antinous throughout the empire. These actions testify to Hadrian's deep affection and grief.
Middle Ages
Richard the Lionheart (1157–1199) Richard I of England had a close relationship with Philip II of France. Contemporary chroniclers described how the two kings "ate from the same table and drank from the same cup every night" and "slept in the same bed." Although the exact nature of their relationship remains disputed, such reports suggest a very intimate connection.
Edward II of England (1284–1327) Edward II had an intense relationship with Piers Gaveston, which chroniclers of the time described as excessively intimate. Later, he developed a similarly close relationship with Hugh Despenser the Younger. These connections led to political tensions and ultimately contributed to Edward's deposition.
Modern Times
James I of England (1566–1625) James, also known as James VI of Scotland, had several close relationships with men. Particularly notable was his connection with George Villiers, the Duke of Buckingham. In letters, James called Villiers "my sweet child and wife" and "my dear Venus boy." This correspondence indicates a passionate and intimate relationship.
Louis XIV of France (1638–1715) Although the Sun King is primarily known for his female mistresses, there are indications of intimate relationships with men. The Duke of Saint-Simon reported in his memoirs of several homosexual affairs at court, including one between Louis and his brother Philippe, Duke of Orléans.
Frederick the Great of Prussia (1712–1786) Frederick had close relationships with several men, particularly Hans Hermann von Katte in his youth. Although Frederick married, the marriage remained childless and distant. Instead, he surrounded himself with a circle of close male friends and confidants.
Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845–1886) Known as the "Fairy Tale King," Ludwig II had close and presumably romantic relationships with several men. Particularly well-known are his connections to Richard Hornig, his stable master, and Paul von Thurn und Taxis. Ludwig's homosexuality was an open secret during his lifetime and contributed to the accusations that led to his dethronement.
Modern Era
Tsar Nicholas II of Russia (1868–1918) Although later married, the last Russian Tsar had a close relationship as a young man with his cousin, Prince Nicholas of Greece. In letters, he described their "special friendship" and the "wonderful nights" they spent together.
These examples show that same-sex relationships among rulers were not uncommon. The nature and perception of such connections varied greatly depending on the cultural and historical context. While some relationships were lived relatively openly, others remained hidden due to societal norms and political implications or were only hinted at in documentation.
It is important to note that modern concepts of sexual orientation and identity cannot be directly applied to historical figures. Many of these rulers would not have identified themselves as homosexual or bisexual, as these terms did not exist in their time. Their relationships must be understood in the context of their respective culture and time.
Nevertheless, these historical examples offer important insights into the diversity of human relationships and show that same-sex love and affection existed even at the highest levels of power.

Today we also celebrate the Venerable Parasceva of Sarov-Diveyevo, the Fool-for-Christ (+1915). Saint Parasceva was left a widow at a young age when she started living a life of wondering. Being secretly tonsured a nun, she fled to the wilderness where she spent her days in unceasing prayer and vigil. On the glorification of Saint Seraphim of Sarov in 1903, Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra visited holy one. It was her custom to put a lot of sugar in the tea of her visitors if something bad was going to happen to them. So much sugar was put in the Tsar's tea that it spilled over. She foretold them the birth of an heir, and also the fall of Tsarist Russia. Saint Parasceva kept a portrait of the Tsar, in front of which she made full prostrations - foretelling of his impending martyrdom and glorification. The Venerable Parasceva reposed on this day in 1915 at the age of 120. We can see in the slides some illustrations during their visit, in the 3rd slide the Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria talking to the Russian Empress and next to her, Elizabeth the Empress of Austria nicknamed Sisi and Emperor Nicholas II,and the 4rth slide we can see a zoom in of that illustration showing the two Empresses who were considered to be the most beautiful at their times. Actually, Empress Alexandra saw Sisi 9 years ago when she was Princess Alix of Hesse, she was so impressed by her charm character and beauty. “On Saturday we saw the Empress of Austria, and I was perfectly enchanted with her. She has a most lovely, tall & thin figure (50 years old) and such a pretty face & soft voice.” wrote to her brother Prince Ernest of Hesse, 3 August 1887. “How funny it is to hear German spoken everywhere after 2 years in Russia. [...] Nicky drove with the Emperor [of Austria] & I followed with the Empress - I must say I am shy with all these masses of strange faces again. The Empress I had already seen twice before - she enquired after you. - Stephanie [the Dowager Crown Princess of Austria] was directly charming - she must be coming now in a minute - as she wanted to see me a little quietly. So I was watching Oversimplified on YouTub, and I found this really funny reply to a comment. The comment was about not really liking how the murder of Nicholas II and his family was a little glossed over, and you see that long reply there? Made me laugh my head off. XD

Czar & Emperor Nikolai II Alexandreyavich Romanov of The Russian Empire, Possible Survival of 1918?
Nicholas II of Russia or in russian: Император Никола́й II Алекса́ндрович

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_II_of_Russia
Nicholas’ son, the crown prince, Alexei, was born with hemophilia. But the family kept his disease, which would cause him to bleed to death from a slight cut, a secret. The Empress Alexandra, his wife, became increasingly under the thrall of Grigori Rasputin, a mystic whom she believed had saved Alexei’s life. Rasputin’s growing influence within the family caused suspicion among the public, who resented his power.
“Finally, late at night on July 17, 1918, the Romanov family was awoken and told to get ready for another move. Still hoping to escape, the women packed up their things and put on clothing into which they had sewn precious jewelry, religious icons and a large amount of money. Then, unexpectedly, their captors turned on them, attacking them first with bullets, then with the butts of guns, bayonets and even their own heels and fists. All seven of the Romanovs—and the last gasp of the Russian monarchy—were dead.”
“What may have looked like an impromptu murder was in fact a carefully planned act of violence. For days, the Romanovs’ Bolshevik captors had been preparing the house for the murder, including stocking up on benzene with which to burn the corpses and sulfuric acid with which to maim them beyond recognition.“
https://www.history.com/news/romanov-family-murder-execution-reasons
"In these samples there was found heteroplasmy − a rare genetic mutation which was present in the samples of Nikolai II," said spokesman Vladimir Markin.
https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/new-dna-establishes-remains-tsar-nicholas-ii-wife-are-authentic-1528651
“Heteroplasmy is the presence of more than one type of organellar genome (mitochondrial DNA or plastid DNA) within a cell or individual. It is an important factor in considering the severity of mitochondrial diseases. Because most eukaryotic cells contain many hundreds of mitochondria with hundreds of copies of mitochondrial DNA, it is common for mutations to affect only some mitochondria, leaving most unaffected.”
“Although detrimental scenarios are well-studied, heteroplasmy can also be beneficial. For example, centenarians show a higher than average degree of heteroplasmy.[1]“
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heteroplasmy
”A centenarian is a person who has lived to (or beyond) the age of 100 years. Because life expectancies worldwide are below 100 years, the term is invariably associated with longevity. In 2012, the United Nations estimated that there were 316,600 living centenarians worldwide.[1]”
“As life expectancy is increasing across the world, and the world population has also increased rapidly, the number of centenarians is expected to increase quickly in the future.[2] According to the UK ONS, one-third of babies born in 2013 in the UK are expected to live to 100.[3]“
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centenarian
My Conjectures & Theory
What if he was better prepared for the rise of the Bolsheviks, their effort erosion of the people’s trust in the Czardom and Russian Empire, and the fall of public favor and opinion of the Russian Imperial Royal Family: the Romanovs?
What if Nikolai II and/or his family’s body doubles were killed in 1918?
What if Nikolai II survived 1918?
What if Nikolai II was betrayed by Alexandra? What of Rasputin?
What if Nikolai II lived a long and healthy life, but in hiding?
What if Nikolai II became a hunter in his later years?
What if Nikolai II or his direct descendant lived well into the late 1980′s?

The Romanov sisters enjoyed the company of their cousin Dickie Mountbatten. For his part, he was smitten with all the four, but, for his own admission:"I was crackers about Marie. I was determined to marry her." He didn't have a very good opinion on his aunt,Tsaritsa Alexandra, which he considered "hysterical" and limiting the sisters' freedom too much. While he did consider Nicholas II a kind man, just too weak to rule. As you all know, both Marie and Dickie's life ended violently. Dickie paid with his own money to prove Anne Anderson was a fake Anastacia. When he visited Russia,as an old man,he talked endlessly about Marie. In a small table near Dickie's bed, they found her photograph when he died. #dickiemountbatten #louismountbatten #lordmountbatten #mariaromanov #anastasiaromanov #olgaromanov #alexeyromanov #tatianaromanov #otma #nicholasii #tsaritsaalexandra #DandyRoyalsClub https://www.instagram.com/p/CQVy84enl8w/?utm_medium=tumblr

EXECUTION OF THE ROMANOV FAMILY
THE EXECUTION OF NICHOLAS II & ROMANOV FAMILY
17 July 1918
Nicholas II, his wife, his children and workers were executed in a basement in Yekaterinburg. Vladimir Lenin didn’t order the execution, but did not care about their deaths either. The family were murdered without a trial by communist Yakov Yurovsky and the Bolsheviks.
The family went down to the basement at 2:15am. Nicholas initially thought they were going to be leaving the Imperial House. The family were in the company of their workers as well as one of their pet dogs, Jimmy (who they also killed).
The execution was messy, which ultimately made the victims last moments prolonged and they suffered immensely. Many of the guards were intoxicated and two of the guards refused to shoot girls, and were sent away. Yurovsky asked the group to stand, except for Alexie who remained seating. Yurovsky took out a sheet of paper and read to the group that they had been ‘sentenced to be shot’. Nicholas turned to look at his family and said, ‘What? What?’ and his family looked at him in absolute terror. Alexandra and Olgo crossed themselves and few others protested. Yurovsky pulled out his gun and shot the Tsar in the chest, and then the guards fired at him. Alexei was covered with his father’s blood.
After Nicholas was killed they turned and killed his wife, daughters, and workers and then Alexei was shot and died against his father.
The families were then taken to an isolated part in the woods; one of the girl’s remains was sexually assaulted. The victims were stripped, and then burned with acid, and thrown into an unused mine. The remains were later retreated, and then dumped into an isolated grave. The public and media were told that the Tsar was assassinated and his family were living in a secret location.
The Soviet Union lost power in 1991, and citizens became more publicly curious about the Romanov dynasty. The remains of the family were discovered in 1991, Alexei and his sister Maria were discovered in 2007 as their remains were found in a different location. DNA tests confirmed their identities and they were reburied in St Petersburg.

*𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐯 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐈𝐈* .Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova was born #onthisday 18 June 1901 at Peterhof Palace, she was the fourth and youngest daughter of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. Her family was disappointed at first that the child was another daughter and not a son since they wished for a heir to the throne but despite that Grand Duchess Anastasia turn out to be a blessing to her family. She had a good relationship with her sisters especially Grand Duchess Maria, who finally found someone to play with, and also with her only brother Tsarevich Alexei; when he was ill she always do her best to make him smile and laugh. She was a funny, caring and loving sister. But also we have to mention that she had a very close relationship with her dad the Emperor Nicholas II who used to call her "Shvibzik" as she she, unlike her other sisters, never enjoyed studying. Anastasia was a great companion for her father, they used to play tennis together, go for a walk and do many activities together, those moments that were spent her were full of laughter, joy and pranks. Nastya was a great comfort and used to cheer her dad when he wasn't well, it's true the Emperor had a good relationship with his other daughters but he had such a special bond with his tomboy daughter as they both had a sense of humour and always have fun together. Unlike her mother, Nicholas II seems to accept her misbehaviour. One time he even make fun of her horrible misspelling . Overall Anastasia truly proved that she could be more than blessing to her family and especially to her father, with whom she had a very strong and close relationship full of love, care support and laughter, without forgetting to mention that even in the 1997 movie of Anastasia, it was clear how Anastasia and her dad had a strong bond together.
