I just had a riveting discussion with a self proclaimed anarcho-capitalist at work, whose opinions included:
Tipping is bad because 'contracts with your employer are voluntary and they can leave if they're not paid enough.' He will still tip if he thinks his wife is watching
If you're stuck inside a torture chamber with an apple you can bite every ten seconds that sends you to paradise for a year, it is illogical to bite the apple and humanity is broken for thinking so
The ending to the good place was bad because the characters weren't being logical and there was so much shit you can do with the afterlife.
The marxist labor theory of value 'isn't true' because paintings have arbitrary value
Heidegger was an idiot
Kant was an idiot
Nietzche was an idiot
He is an anarcho-capitalist
If I don't have 100% certainty for something than I can't truly say that I know something is true, and isn't it illogical that people do that?
I have to see this man every Monday from now until I quit. We work one on one.

Giving credit to original posters, creators, artists, photographers, and sources matters.
It matters to the person who put in the time and effort to create the content. Whether it's finding that photo and editing it to make it stand out. Or downloading that video, editing it, coloring it, turning it into a gif, adding subtitles, etc. Regardless of what you do (job/student), I'm sure you too would not like it if someone else takes credit for your work.
It matters to people who want to know context. Was it said by a fan, your favourite's bestie, a reputable journalist? Published by a tabloid or the New York Times? From last week or last year? Is it an original, or did someone get photoshopped in for a meme?
It matters to people who may want to explore more content of that particular publication, so they will continue to publish top-notch articles. Or give kudos to a budding artist for their outstanding art work, potentially encouraging them to create more. Or compliment that photographer on capturing their fave in just the right light.
It matters, because even though it may take you an extra minute or so to add on that name or link, it is the right thing to do.

Me through most of Boom: Wow, this is a really solid dramatic episode.
Me when Moffat needlessly sprinkles in anti-faith sentiments without specifying that it’s blind faith in bad things that the Doctor doesn’t like, which makes it come off like the Doctor is just against religion generally:
Tumblr media
#doctor who#dw critical#spoilers#dw spoilers#i get it edgelord you don’t care for religion. you don’t have to alienate religious members of the audience.#i at least appreciated that the doctor agreed with splice that gone and dead are different things and told her to keep the faith#but like. he immediately thereafter still tells mundy that he doesn’t like faith and spent the whole episode disparaging it.#which just feels so wrong for a show that’s supposed to be open minded about the beliefs and cultures all across the universe#i hate when writers gratuitously make the doctor take a hard and broad stance on something that he would NOT#reminds me of s8 when twelve suddenly hated all soldiers#as if some of his closest friends haven’t been soldiers? brigadier? benton and yates? sara?#big difference between corrupt military and literally every soldier#the same way there is a big difference between a corrupt religious organization or individuals who use religion as an excuse for cruelty#and like. ALL faith and the idea of having a faith that you live by whatsoever.#just because his comments were aimed at something corrupt doesn’t mean they weren’t WAY too sweeping as if he meant it on the whole#i definitely enjoyed the bulk of the episode but that just felt like it was done in bad faith and made me uncomfortable#and i just read moffat’s comment on the thoughts and prayers thing and UGH#i get why there are circumstances in which that can feel hollow — usually if it’s coming from a corporation that could actually do somethin#but can we not villainize all the normal people who genuinely mean that with love?#people who often CAN’T do anything but say prayers for you?#that IS a legitimate response and a legitimate action#someone can’t physically aid you but cares to take the time to talk to the God of the universe about you and your need and plead for you#don’t tell me that isn’t love or that it’s not really doing anything#sometimes that’s all you CAN do and it’s more than people give it credit for#blatant disregard and willful misunderstanding of faith like this just rub me wrong#it’s painting with a broad brush and it’s close minded#and yes i’m gonna post this. i’m feeling controversial.#my love/aggravation relationship with moffat continues#in the wise words of kira nerys. if you don’t have faith you can’t understand it and if you do then no explanation is necessary.

so i talked about Din being so ungodly unpredictable, and after digging a bit deeper beneath the surface of The Mandalorian season1 and 2, i think now i know why.
To the surprise of absolutely noone, Din Djarin is a rogue!! He's a rogue character, that's the foundation of his personality, at any point of his characterization he's designed to stray from structure and to undermine it.
But he's also a knight! and this introduces a very intriguing and fascinating conflict at the heart of his character: the duality of honor, and how he orients himself towards that specific value. He's a knight and a knight is bound by honor and servitude; but in order to save his honor he has to choose what and whom he serves at different points of the narrative, and he has to disobey in order to obide by his honor. A rogue character by definition is the least honoring person, a knight is most honorable. So the heart and the lungs of Din Djarin's characterization is his struggle with servitude and where his values lie, and it's never "this" or "that"; he's constantly switching between rogue and knight in the bat of eyelash, just when you think he's bound to code he abandons mission and when he's supposed to stray he stays and binds himself to a child.
I think introducing him in the position of a king is the most outrageous and hilarious plot twist, because narrative wise, all three archetypes of the Rogue, the Knight and the King have in common the conflict of honor, while the King is most bound to obedience and the Rogue is least concerned with it. So i'm actually quite curious now to know where they'll take season 3 Din Djarin, simply because this is such hefty faceted dynamic and it's quite frankly very ambitious to tackle, we haven't had an archetypal story this intricate in star wars since, well, the original trilogy.

@horrorslasherfucker has added this at the end of her pinned post.
...
Do you know how many times people HAVE told her, "Hey! I don't like this thing that you're doing (stealing art), could you please stop?" And then in response, she's just blocked them? It feels so useless to have that at the end of your introduction post, and it's just a huge slap in the face to everybody you have stolen from.
(PLEASE do not go after her and berate her, you'd be just as bad if not worse. Just block her and do not interact.)

anyway if you're having some uncomfy feelings about posting unsourced art/photos in the past because of that post i made about how to identify stolen images, maybe hunting through my blog for any possible whisper of hypocrisy is not the most productive place to direct that energy. i'm not here to shame anyone, just to provide information on how to make this website a little friendlier to artists by discouraging sourceless uploads. lack of engagement on unsourced posts will cause most uploaders to change their behavior for the better.

i'm very :3 because the dark urge being fully customizable might be thanks to my very enthusiastic suggestion as a playtester.....I mean maybe other playtesters who came after me (my group was apparently the first to try the dark urge out, at least in gent, because the group before us didn't even know that origin existed) suggested it too, I don't know, but :3 even if I'm just one of the people who suggested it, I'm :3 because HELL YEAAAAH!!!!
I loved the dark urge so much (even though I couldn't finish my playthrough with them, since they were my second playthrough of the playtest) that i was like "this is too good, since they're not a companion origin story u guys need to make it possible to play them as any race not just the dragonborn variations"
AND THEY DIIIIID i'm so happy!!!!
#baldur's gate 3#bg3#bee talks#I legit screamed when they said it during the last panel from hell#finally i can talk about this#me playing with my customized dark urge character: HEHEHEHE THIS IS EVERYTHING I EVER WANTEEED#also insane to see my name in the credits like wow#also idk maybe it was always planned for the dark urge to be fully customizable but#during my playtest they could only be a dragonborn#and all the promo art/etc is the dragonborn#so I assume it wasn't??#wish my memory wasn't so bad because i suggested it at least twice but i don't remember if i did it only in written form or aloud as well#in which case they didn't tell me 'oh yeah we were already gonna do that' because i would've remembered that at least#ANYWAY ANYWAY#I'M JUST EXCITED#also i might have something to do with the alchemy window#because there wasn't any and i was the idiot with no healer in my party whatsoever so i was relying on potions and so on day 2 or 3#I complained that alchemy wasn't intuitive enough and the dev looked at the other dev like 'oh yeah we could ask to add that'#'shouldn't be too hard'#and then two weeks later they asked us to focus some of our feedback on alchemy specifically#but tbh i doubt i was the first and only one who suggested an alchemy window because god crafting straight from the inventory was HELL#it was all trial and error digging in the inventory trying to find the components#and there was no alchemy pouch. and no 'automatic' recipes. pain and suffering#lastly: if we get an ace character / ace romance options in the next divinity game: you're welcome#anyway sorry what are these tags god i can't shut up can i#i'm just so happy i got to have a small tiny part in this amazing game!!!#it's wonderful seeing everyone enjoying it so much the devs are so passionate and worked so hard!!!#and I'm having a blast too playing it without all the bugs and unfinished cutscenes bahahaha#BG3 GOTY!!!!!
