#no liability here

For anyone wondering what happened to make Silicon Valley Bank here's the TL:DR:
SVB had very few consumer loans. Their investment base was primarily government bonds. A government bond is basically a loan to the gov at a fixed rate for a set period.
Their liability base was primarily consumer and investor savings.
They made money on the difference between what they were paying people in interest for their savings, and what the gov was paying them for the bonds.
They were then investing their profits into startups and tech businesses.
Then the loan rate rose, the interest rate on savings went up in the market, and to stay competative they had to put their rates up. They can't reclaim their investments as startups don't have the money to give back. The rate rises, their profits shrink, and they go boom.

crocodad is so so so so so so so fucking funny but most of the fan content around it SUCKS bc of this weird idea that crocodile would be nurturing as if he isn’t exactly the kind of guy that would be dodging at the speed of light any child support claims nami keeps sending cross guild… tsk tsk.
SKFNDNFC LITERALLYYYYY
i don’t care what oda said in that one sbs i really don’t think crocodile has a parental bone in his body. protective, maybe, of people and things he considers his own, but i think if you put him in a room with a child he’d only be capable of interacting with them like a small adult, if absolutely forced to interact with them at all. otherwise he is Leaving he is Gone.
(note that most of the people crocodile interacts with are wanted criminals. he is talking with this hypothetical kid like they’re both in The Biz.)
also this is definitely me projecting a little but i read a fic like this once and as a transmasc person who experiences visceral horror at even the idea of pregnancy, i think this goes double for like. a kid that he birthed. yeah parent-child connection etc etc but my favorite take on it is that crocodile didn’t realize he was pregnant until he was literally in labor, and he had the genuinely extremely reasonable and relatively measured reaction of flipping the fuck out, running to ivankov the second the kid was out of him, and then pulling a complete disappearing act.
children are also a major fiscal responsibility and he is Not About That.

Anyways I don't think anyone in that Have Not room comes out of all that looking particularly good except Matt and I guess Bowie. I have a feeling the real beneficiaries will likely be players like Meme and Matt who were in multiple alliances, already knew most of the house structure, and still had enough plausible deniability that they were only loyal to one of them.

Shit like that is why Tangerine should've stayed in Ericson! She must take care of her leg but nooooooo! People in Ericson was mean to me :'(! I'm not surprised she caught a fever considering she's ignoring her wound. Sorry for sounding so bitter.
It's a big issue with the "Clementine left Ericson willingly" plot point in this trilogy. Aside from it just being out of character for her based on what we see in TWDG, it lessens the amount of sympathy we're willing to give as readers.
If she was forced to leave Ericson, whether because they kicked her out or it was under attack, she would have no choice. She'd have to leave, and then these situations wouldn't feel like her fault, y'know? You're more likely to see her suffer, fall down, or get an infection, and feel bad because it's not her fault, she was dealt a shitty hand.
But this angle of her leaving because she was unhappy or because she felt like a burden... she still left the safety of place where she could've properly healed from an amputation. Losing her leg isn't just another injury you can be like, "Oh just keep off it, it'll heal." That's a lot of healing and physical/emotional trauma to get through and she would've had a better chance of it if she stayed with AJ and Ericson.
Since she left, we're kinda just sitting here saying, "Yeah, Clementine... you have to take care of your leg. You have to wash it. You can't be running around on it all the time while it's still healing. You're going to be more prone to infection, and in the zombie apocalypse, that's super not great. What were you thinking? You should have stayed at Ericson. You should not be here at this ski lodge or running through the woods."
A lot of problems with the story and characterization stem from that decision and unfortunately, it's weakening the story.

I CAN SAY MORE just bc hannibal later breaks away from the police procedural structure and focus to do wild cerebral gothic romance and you root for the guys to leave that system behind and kill people and local police aren't particularly effective doesn't mean it doesn't also take for granted that prisons and police and especially federal police have some kind of good, necessary job. it still functions that we see people working for the FBI use lethal force and duck rules and break laws and violate privacy and set up elaborate entrapment schemes and have confidental conversations about how one of the investigators should kill the prisoner in his custody without due process and those actions are always justified textually as being 'the right thing, the only thing they can do to finally stop the guy' and those measures ALWAYS effectively lead them to the guilty party even tho hannibal usually is one step ahead in the end. friends i did not think we were under the impression that watching this show is equivalent to condoning all its politics. thats when it comes to the murder-cannibalism and also when it comes to tacitly assuming police are neutral-to-good and need to exist

about the copyright stuff.. do you think if someone gave complete legal consent for approval of use in an episode (with legal documents giving them permission/ ownership of the material) do you think they could use fanfic/au ideas then? wouldn’t that work around the copyright protections or is that not possible because even then if the person tried to sue or wanted to they couldn’t since it would be in their ownership (rcg) technically.
I don't know enough about the intricacies of copyright and intellectual property law to really say I'm giving you a professional answer, but if a contract was involved relinquishing ownership and/or claims, I'm pretty sure, yes.
In all honestly, I would go as so far as to say just a blanket statement that you relinquish all your right, title, and interest to any original plot, ideas, and/or dialogue in your story would do it. Similar to how some studios or writers have had contests or promotional things fans can submit their fan works to, if you tick a box and say you read and agree to the terms and conditions (normally being you relinquish your right to any monetary claims if they use your work), that's all there is to it. So yeah, if RCG wanted to do some kind of "fan written" or fan-contributed episode they absolutely could.
Just to restate: the refusal of creators and writers engaging with fanfiction due to copyright issues is really when it's put upon them: a fan hands them something or DMs them. That, they basically straight up know/are trained to refuse and not to engage with. When it comes to something more organic, like imagining a creator looking through Ao3 or ff.net, the extremely low likelihood that they are going to do that is because they know it is a very murky area they can easily dupe or hurt themselves walking into. They're supposed to actively avoid it, and most do, but if you want to think (or even strongly believe) your guy is browsing fics when he's bored as hell flying back and forth from LA to Wales multiple times a month, slap a little release on your work, if you want (Sometimes you see release disclaimers on other people's fanfiction. Though a lot of the time it's just a rejection of ownership because people are paranoid they can get in trouble for publishing fanfiction...lmfao).
