These past few days you hadn't been feeling so well.
Friends and coworkers had been getting sick left and right. You had thought you were lucky enough to pass it by but after a couple restless nights and a depleted appetite, it was fair to say you had caught the bug.
Yesterday you had tried to prevent the worst of it, taking medicine, drinking orange juice, staying active; none of it seemed to hold back the storm that was this illness.
The second you had opened your eyes this morning you could tell it had all been pointless.
Your head was throbbing, you were unbearably congested, your chest felt heavy, and chills racked your body. There was a cold sweat sticking to your neck and it hurt to swallow. Above all else, you were exhausted. You kept drifting in and out of dreamless sleep, waking to a deeper state of drowsiness.
At one point you had checked your phone only to realize it was mid-afternoon and you had been in bed all day. Toji had been out on a job and would likely be back before dinner.
It's not as if you were embarrassed or ashamed to be sick, but being the fervently independent individual you were, you hated the idea of needing to be cared for.
So, despite your shaky legs and turning stomach, you stumbled your way into the bathroom to try and wash off the sweltering perspiration and muck from yourself.
Something had to be made for dinner after all.
You’d probably feel better after washing up, right?
After what can only be described as a brave attempt at standing under the shower head's assault, you found yourself covering up the drain in your shower bath and allowing the downpour slowly fill up the tub surrounding your collapsed form.
You sat for an inordinate amount of time, every so often opening your eyes to see the waters rising closer to your chest. The droplets knocked against your ears and eased you into a cloudy headspace.
The water was hot. Stiflingly so. What you assumed would aid in clearing out your clogged sinus cavity did very little on that front but rather aided in the onslaught of an enervating fever.
Too weak to consider the sweating and dehydration your hot "rain bath" had caused, you fell into a state of delirium as you shook and dressed yourself in some sweatpants and crew neck.
The man who so frequently was at the forefront of your thoughts was no longer haunting your thoughts. You had originally gotten out of bed to prepare a meal but in your current state, that would not be happening.
It was laughable even to yourself as you made your way into the living room, pitching off to this side and then and staring off at the kitchen and front door for what would appear to an onlooker to be an unnervingly duration.
Eventually, you had to blink and come back to yourself, lost at how you had even gotten into the living room. And for being in such a position to seek comfort, you were overcome with the sudden need to lay on the couch.
Just for a couple minutes to "rest your eyes" as Toji often called it. And "rest your eyes" you did as the room started to spin and your hid your head into the cushions.

That was how Toji found you when he arrived home.
The two of you didn't text too often so the fact that you hadn't messaged all day hadn't set of any alarm bells for him. When he came through the front door, finding the place untouched since he left, well, that certainly did.
The room was dim, there wasn't any noise coming from the other rooms of the place, your presence was something he felt he needed to seek, not follow.
It was odd, seeing you there, conked on the couch, smooshed into the bolstering. And even more odd was the feeling it filled him with.
There was an overwhelming sense that something is wrong... Toji had never seen you like this. He tried to recall any hints that could have alluded to you clearly feeling unwell but the two of you had both been so busy. In and out of work, how long had you felt this way?
He knew how you were, never sharing when you hadn't gotten enough sleep or when a light was too bring and causing your headache to throb. Of course you wouldn't have said anything.
He should have noticed it. If Toji is good at anything, it's noticing. Especially when it comes to you. So whatever was going on, it must have progressed rapidly.
Toji sat up against you on the couch, when you didn't move or make any show of recondition, he pursed his lips and told himself to relax. His palm made its way around your head between the couch in order to feel your forehead and it was then that he started to panic.
You were hot. Too hot.
He had never been sure of what to do in these types of situations. His immune system was just too good, he rarely had issues like this and he had never seen you in such a pathetic state.
You were going to play it off when he woke you, he knew you would, so, how then, is he supposed to know for sure how serious it was?
He leaned his weight against your back now, looking down as your sunken form. He didn't say anything until you had whined and shifted to squint up at him.
"Hey." It came out grumbly.
"Mmm?" Everything felt airy, your ability to move your body, your recondition of where you lay, the man before you. Was any of this even real? Gosh, you felt awful.
"How you feelin'?"
Toji was a big, tough, guy. He was notorious for his unfeeling and cold nature. Rarely did he take the initiative to coddle or pamper you. And even rarer still were the times you would allow it.
In this moment though, every fiber of his “big, tough, guy" being was blaring for him to treat you gently.
He ran his hand down your back, the gooseflesh on your neck sent a chill across his and he began to seriously worry that you must be sick.
"mmm" Was your only response.
You firmly placed your face back between the couch and its cushions, truly believing you had just given a proper reply to Toji.
Narrowing his brows even further, Toji leans in, gently petting your back, lifting your hair from your neck. He places the back of his hand to your flesh there.
He couldn't recall a time where you had ever been more heated than he.
"Hey, I need you to look at me." He whispers, trying to draw your attention again.
"...ughhh...'oji" You try to shift from him but in no state, certainly not the one you presently found yourself in, were you a match for his strength.
"hey, hey, hey..." He doesn't even realize the tone he has taken on, as if he is approaching a wounded animal. He really just doesn't know what to do.
"...Eghhhh... it'ssso cold."
It is this slurred declaration that finalizes it for him. Never before, even when inebriated, have you taken on this tonality.
Toji's thigh jitters on the couch but he hides his internal alarm well otherwise. He is usually so quick to manhandle you over his shoulder, tossing you this way and that. But not now.
He takes you tenderly, and when you shuffle your face into his arm, he swallows the feeling that coats his throat.
"You been feelin' bad all day?"
He makes his way to the bedroom, when you nod into his chest his posture straightens.
Of course.
Once you're feeling better he's going to need to have a talk with you about sharing how you feel. At this moment, however, you are a limp noodle, falling away from his body as he plops you onto the bed.
He tucks the blanket around your body and sits on the edge of the bed.
"You eat yet?"
If you think that not responding will get him off your back, you are sorely mistaken. He would get an answer out of you. Nudging your side, pressing your body further into the mattress.
"Hey. Have you eaten?" He asks, slower this time.
You open your eyes, feeling a bit more cognizant. From the bed, you heave a breath and blink up at the man. "M' a bit nauseous."
"So, no."
"Yeah…”
He sighs, saving his lecture for when he isn't pounding with anxiety at your expression. The bed starts to tilt as Toji shifts his weight, moving to get up.
He was very likely going to prepare something light for your stomach, but in a moment of weakness, (wholly brought on by the cloudy brain and certainly not your realization of how soft your man was being) you reach out for him.
"Don't go."
A shiver causes his shoulders to tremble. A week ago he would have said no, shoving you off him only to fulfill your request. But in this moment he doesn't even have it in himself to jokingly deny you.
Turning back, he tickles a hand along your face. Pressing slightly at your temples. The massage eases everything for a moment, you wish you could stay like this for the however long your ailment lasts.
You roll over slightly, turning your face away from him and into the pillows. His fingers dance from your temples to the side of your eye, to the bridge of your nose. He presses slightly, running his fingertip up the length of it, to the space between your eyes, then back again.
He repeats the motion a few times, watching your breathing even out. He watches chills roll over you as his hand finds the back of your neck, moving to scratch gently there.
It does not take long for you to fall back into a restless sleep. As he watched you snore under the lump of blankets, he hoped this rest would do you well.
Toji isn't the best cook out there, but he's not as useless in the kitchen as he might seem. He would swap between preparing soup to peeking into the bedroom every so often. Cutting up some potato, shredding some chicken, chopping some carrots. Only to get nervous and stand in the doorway to watch the heep of germs on his bed.
Typically he would feel a sense of accomplishment for his healthy meal and the speed at which he prepared it.
Not now. His thoughts were filled with your weak voice back on the couch, your gaze when you asked him to stay with you.
He had never seen you like that. It had thrown him.
Toji almost didn't want to wake you but it only took remembering that you hadn't eaten all day for him to eventually nudge you awake.
You groaned and complained but once you were conscious, it seemed that you were more aware.
"W-wait, what?…Toji, you made this?"
"Yeah, so you better eat it all."
He scooched you over into the middle of the bed before sitting up beside you. You waved off his attempt to feed you, insisting on holding the bowl in your lap.
So Toji just watched, looking down at you spooning soup into your mouth. Humming every so often.
"It's good, Toji."
"Oh, yeah?" You aren't looking at him but you can hear his grin, "Lucky you, there's plenty of extra."
You smile. But it doesn't reach your eyes.
You know Toji did this because he wanted to, but sitting here, being useless all day, you felt so ashamed.
"...Lucky me....thank you...Toji."
"No worries." His fingertips found the back of your neck once more and started thrumming a pattern while you stared off, still eating.
"I'm sorry."
You couldn't not say it. It just came out.
"What? Why?"
The spoon clinks against the bowl and you cover your eyes with a hand. "Just...all of this, I'm sorry it happened, and that you had to come home and do all this."
"Alright-“ He leans over now, trying to bend and catch your eye but you turn away. He grabs the bowl in one hand and sets it on the bedside table beside him. "I don't want to hear you say that again."
You shake your head to disagree but he leans back then, gripping your shoulders and laying you atop his shoulder.
"I wish you would let me take care of you."
You stay on him, feeling his chest rise and pound with life and love. But you still try to avoid the eye contact he was trying to make happen.
"You already have-"
"Well I wish you would let me without whatever all this guilt is. I don't want you feelin' bad for getting sick. And then apologizing for me watching out for you."
There was a steady pause. The two of you lay, listening to the silence, awaiting your reply.
"Thank you." Is all you said.
Because it's what you felt. And you knew he wouldn’t accept anything else.
"Sure, baby." He leans down and kisses the top of your head.
And as badly as you would like to stay present and ask about his day like you normally would. It is becoming a real challenge to stay awake. Especially with his hand tracing patterns over your arm.
And for the first time in three days. You have some restful sleep.

The next day you wake feeling much better, rejuvenated even. But Toji is still fussing over you like he's your grandma. Tapping his foot and waiting for you to finish eating before allowing you to do anything else.
"I slaved over that, you better not leave a drop."
You roll your eyes, grateful the teasing dynamic has come back to you both. Even so, there is an underlying care that the two of you share, you smile before getting up, he tries to take your bowl but you insist on washing it yourself.
Toji’s head is on your shoulder and his breath whispers on your neck, you rinse the suds from your dish. For once, it feels nice and warm to be cared for without pretense.
You set your bowl on a towel, quickly shifting to tiptoes and leaving a smooch on Toji's cheek.
He makes a funny noise in the back of his throat then. Whiling around to squish your cheeks in a firm grip.
"Ya better not go getting me sick."
You stare at one another, and although he had just finished pushing your from him, he looks at your face in his hand. And without a moments hesitation longer, he drags you in for a proper kiss.
To him, felt good to love you, and to you, it felt good to be loved

The lazy late spring days were growing warmer as the seaside at Plymouth eased towards summer. Francis Miller and Caroline Willison strolled arm-in-arm down the path along the cliffs, looking out at the ocean.
“Do you really have to go tomorrow?” Caroline asked.
“It'll only be for a short while,” Francis said. “I promise I'll be back within a day or two.”
“I know, but I worry for your health,” she said gently. “Is there really no excuse you can make to avoid it? I can't imagine you'll be in much of a state to host a meeting.”
“The doctor has prescribed some tinctures for my nose and a regimen for my breathing medicines,” he assured her. “It will not be pleasant, but I'll manage.”
“Still, they have to know what a burden it'll be.”
“My father left me in charge of the business and this is something I must see to. Your worry is sweet, darling. Really, I'm flattered, but I must go. There's no one but the owner that can sign off on the paperwork and it must be witnessed by a local notary.”
She stopped at a secluded bend in the path and reached to pull him close to her.
“Mother told me that we've been invited to the Bices' for a few days, but I have a secret for you.”
“A secret?” he said, smiling at her conspiratorial look.
“Yes, a secret,” she replied with a giggle. “We're all meant to go for two nights, which would mean you'd arrive back to an empty house. But I am going to claim I don't feel well and they'll go on without me.”
Francis shook his head.
“Darling, that's a ridiculous idea. You'll be all alone in that big house with naught but the footmen to look in on you and I can't imagine I'll be much company when I get back.”
“A little of your company is better than none at all,” she said, running her hands across his chest. “We'll be all alone for a whole day.”
A whole day I'm sniffling and recovering from my trip, Francis thought, but he did not speak the sentiment aloud. Caroline was being terribly bold making this proposition and he did not have it in himself to refuse. The idea of coming back to her was much sweeter than that of coming back to an empty house, even if he was likely to be an asthmatic mess.
“The whole day?” he repeated. “Well then, I suppose you must find a reason you can't go to the Bices'.”
She grinned and leaned up to kiss him.

The next day, Francis had the valet drive him to the train station and he took the ten o'clock into Euston. The stay in London was brief and very unpleasant. By the time he boarded the train back towards Plymouth, his eyes were so swollen that he could barely see and his nose was chapped and raw from the frequent use of his handkerchief.
He managed to fall asleep on the train after a sleepless, sneeze-filled night in his flat in London. He emerged from the train in Plymouth in much the same way that he usually did when he arrived for the hay season: swollen, itchy, and utterly miserable.
The Willisons had arranged for a cab to pick him up, having taken the car to the Bice residence. The driver seemed utterly baffled by Francis' condition.
“Are you quite ill, sir?”
“No,” Francis rasped from behind the shield of his handkerchief as the driver loaded his trunk into the boot. “It's hay-asthma. I'm quite sensitive to the grass and the smoke and –hehh...ehh-TSGCHHT!!”
He sneezed throatily into the handkerchief and could not help but give his nose a short blow to clear it. The whole thing was terribly improper, but it could not be helped. He hurried into the waiting car and blew his nose noisily once more before the driver could get in and hear him.
The ride back to the Willison's estate was a dizzy affair. Francis' head felt so clogged that he could not equalize the pressure in his ears and a pounding sinus headache left him sitting with his fingers pinched between his closed eyes, praying for relief.
When they arrived at the house, one of the footmen was waiting to unload his things. Francis stumbled inside, coughing a little. The dim light of the house was kinder to his swollen eyes than the brighter sunshine outside, but it would be hours before he felt any true relief from his symptoms.
“Please have my things laundered before they're sent up,” he instructed Parker. “I'm going to retire for the rest of the day. I trust I'll be left alone?”
“Yes, sir,” Parker said. “Ring if anything is needed. Otherwise, we won't expect you down again today.”
Francis nodded gratefully and headed up the staircase up to his room. By the time he reached it, his nose was streaming a thin trail down onto his upper lip and his breathing came in a slight wheezy whistle. He pushed open the door to his bedroom and slipped inside, eagerly shedding his coat and ascot as he sat down on the edge of his bed.
From his pocket, he fished out a fresh handkerchief, feeling the start of another attack coming on. He was just taking a hitching breath, battling the itch, as the bedroom door opened and Caroline slipped in.
Eh-SGHGHT!
“Oh, darling,” she said with a sigh. “Sweet boy.”
Francis couldn't look at her. He was too distracted by the intense tickle. He wrinkled his nose and made a small sound of discomfort before launching fully into the fit.
Eh-TSCHHT! Nghhh-tsGHHTT! Ngh'GHXTT! Tshh-GHSXHT!
Caroline was sitting at his side now, he hand gently caressing his back as he trembled with each urgent sneeze. Finally, with a shaky gasp, the fit ended.
“Oh, love,” she said, leaning in to kiss his cheek. “You poor thing.”
He blushed and shook his head.
“It's temporary,” he choked out. “I'll recover.”
“I know,” she said. “You always do. It makes me sad to see you so uncomfortable though.”
He sniffled and wiped his nose with his handkerchief.
“I'm sorry,” he said. “I feel like a complete mess. This must disgust you.”
She gave him a funny look and then reached over, taking the handkerchief from his grasp.
“No,” she said, reaching up and dabbing his nose with great care. “I love everything about you. Even your miserable bits.”
He blushed more and looked down at his hands.
“That can't be true,” he said.
“Francis Miller,” she said, grabbing his hand and squeezing it. “The man I fell in love with comes here every spring precisely because of this affliction. Without it, there would be no 'us'. And I must be honest with you, darling: I find it rather endearing.”
“Endearing?” he said incredulously. “That---ehhh....Caroline, I ....I...hafta....ehhh...”
Unafraid, she pressed the handkerchief to his swollen nose and he sneezed freely, unable to help himself.
Ehh-TSGXGHTT!
With great care, she pinched the cloth off the end of his nose and gave it a delicate wipe.
“See?” she said.
He bit his lip, both embarrassed and amused by her.
“Love?” she said. “I...well, isn't it best if you get out of your travelling things?”
He glanced down at his shirt and trousers, both likely coated in pollen and dust.
“I suppose,” he said with a shrug and a sniffle.
“I can help with that,” she said, smiling.
He stood and she circled in front of him, hands deftly unbuttoning his shirt. She slid her hands in across the bare skin his chest and guided it off him. Then she went to his fly, unbuttoning the trousers and tugging them down over his slip hips. He stood in naught but his pants and socks, starring at her with red, itchy eyes. He could feel his heart beat quickening as she put her hands on his hips and pulled him close.
“Not fair,” he whispered into her ear. His nose was itching fiercely but he battled to ignore it. His hands found the silk-covered buttons of her blouse and he started to slowly undo them one by one, pausing to run his fingers across the rise of her breasts. He was almost to the last one when he faltered.
“It's okay,” she urged, mistaking his hesitation for nerves.
“Sorry, I--”
He pulled away, pressing a wrist into his nose.
Ngh-XHT!
“Bless you,” she said, reaching out to tuck a curl of his hair behind his ear.
“Oh god,” he murmured. “This isn't how I imagined this.”
“It's just as I did,” she said shyly.
“What do you mean?” he asked, rubbing at his eye.
“I don't mind, I mean,” she said, pressing up again him and leaning in to kiss his neck. He leaned his head back, coughing lightly as post-nasal drip drained down his throat.
“You...hehh...”
“I don't mind,” she repeated, not letting go of her hold on his waist.
“Caroline...” he said breathlessly. “I...hehh...”
She cupped her hand to the back of his head and lowered to into her shoulder.
He could not help himself. His hitching breath became erratic and then the sneeze burst out of him. He tried to stifle as best he could but it didn't quite work.
Ehh-GXHHT!
Caroline stroked the back of his hair and he raised his head up, blinking at her in confusion. She was flushed pink across her cheeks, glowing with youth and passion.
“Kiss me,” she said softly, craning up to reach his lips.
He obliged shyly, hyper-aware of the dampness of his own nose as it touched hers.
Breaking the embrace to take a shaky breath, he resumed unbuttoned her blouse and lifted it off, following with her camisole. She pushed down her skirts and stood in her bloomers and corset. Taking his hand, she went to the bed and slowly lay down, tugging him along with her.
The change in orientation was not appreciated by his congested respiratory system. He started to cough almost instantly. She pushed herself up onto one arm and reached over to stroke his chest and kiss him along the breastbone as it heaved and strained.
“Sit up,” she said gently, helping him back up. “Sorry.”
He got the coughs under control and he leaned into her, catching his breath.
“I don't think I'm up to this,” he wheezed.
“I know, sweet,” she said, caressing his cheek. “I'm sorry. I didn't mean for things to get out of hand. I just...we're so rarely unsupervised. I thought...well...”
He flushed, feeling his growing arousal in spite of the allergies. He huffed a cough into his shoulder and then turned back to her with a small smile.
“You're right, darling,” he said softly. “If you don't mind, I can manage.”
She bit her lip, smiling coyly as she reached back to unlace her corset.
“I'll do that,” he said and she turned around, kneeling between his legs. He tugged at the laces, slowly undoing them one by one as he kissed up and down the ivory skin of her neck.
Hehh...
His nose was not finished. Though it was swollen to the point of inefficacy, it would not rest. He turned it against his shoulder and sneezed with an exhausted, heavy sound.
Hurhh-tsgHGHHH!
Caroline put her hand back onto his thigh and gave it a gentle squeeze of encouragement. He finished unlacing her and tugged the corset off, running his hands over the swell of her breasts. She turned and lowered herself to the bed, pushing down her bloomers. He reached into his pants and slowly straddled her.
They moved together slowly, taking time to explore with their hands as they began to pulse in rhythm. Caroline made a low, moaning sound and Francis blushed madly, feeling himself growing more eager with her demonstrated passion.
His pulse quickened and soon he was straining for air, still eager for touch and release but also on the verge of coughing.
He sputtered a little, breath catching as a wave of pleasure rocked through him.
“It's okay,” she urged breathlessly, reaching up and touching his chest.
He thrust forward and she moaned louder. A massive release came through him and he saw stars for a brief second. The congestion in his head popped and a rush of drainage leaked into his throat. He sniffled and found both nostrils unclogged for the first time in days.
She was still rocking into him eagerly, begging for a release of her own. He was too distracted by the change in pressure in his head.
Ngh-TSCHIHHHH!
He sneezed unexpectedly and the motion of it was enough to send her over the edge. She cried out, shaking and turning limp. He rolled off of her, reaching for a handkerchief and he blew his nose noisily.
“Ugh,” he groaned, giving it another short blow. “Sorry.”
“That is not something to be sorry about,” she said breathily, watching him from her spot boneless and limp against the pillows. She was smiling. “Come here.”
He lay down with the handkerchief held to his runny nose. She cuddled him close against her and he closed his eyes, suddenly feeling the exhaustion of the battle against his condition and the post-coital relaxation. She ran her fingers through his curls, humming softly.
“Thank you,” he whispered sleepily.
“For what?”
“For not being disgusted with me. I...I'm afraid most people don't take kindly to my weakness.”
“It's not your entire existence,” she said. “There are plenty lovely things about you. And I don't fear a bit of sneezing, especially coming from you.”
She was looking at him fondly.
“Red and pink are your colours,” she said, looking at his nose, cheeks, and eyes.
He laughed softly.
“I very much doubt it.”
“It's what you always look like when you return to me. And for that reason, I like it the most.”

I have the god damn worst sinuses. Been congested since January finally zyrtec helped with that but now I have post nasal drip and what feels like a clogged ear. Had to get a steroid shot to hopefully help. I’m in so much pain right now I could cry. Hoping my boss lets me work from home today. 😓 I need Niall cuddles lol
Dude. You are talking to the sinus queen!!! Go see an ENT doc. I thought mine were just bad allergies, turns out that shit was a mess™️.
Try a hot compress to loosen up the congestion and a NeilMed rinse bottle to clear out the sinus cavities. Good luck!!!! 🙌🏻

The Happiest Place on Earth, and New Year 2020 Adventures
Dear readers - I have a really convoluted update for you all today, but (I think) it has a happy ending!
First of all. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020! Hope the new year brings us all peace, fulfillment, and most of all.... GOOD HEALTH.
The family and I kicked off the holiday season in a veritable flurry of activity. The kids celebrated their school holiday show with great fanfare...

And then I had a personal high, as I completed my second-ever Jingle Bell Jog 5K race successfully!

This was the first event of my race series and fundraiser for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. so I was extra happy at having ticked this item off my to-do list.
That same day, just hours after I crossed the finish line, Dr. Spouse, the kids and I packed up the car and headed north to the Orlando area, for a 6 day vacation. The week was planned to include a four-day stint visiting the parks at Walt Disney World along with my parents, who would be flying directly from New Orleans to join us.
We had a blast on this trip! After a few rough months, it was so much fun to make new memories with Ajima and Thatha, especially since taking the grandkids to Disney has long been an item on Thatha’s bucket list. We were delighted to help him work on this one!

The trip was *almost* perfect. Almost. There was just one hiccup.... and fortunately/unfortunately, it mainly involved me.
I woke up on the final day of our Disney parks adventures - Thursday, December 26 - ready to tackle Epcot, which is my favorite of the four parks. But the minute my eyes popped open, I just knew something wasn’t 100% right with me. I felt like I’d been hit by a BUS. I had horrible body ache all over, my head was pounding, and my chest felt heavy, as if someone had poured a gallon of wallpaper paste into my lungs. I groaned to myself, knowing what this meant - I was probably coming down with a cold - but I still forced myself up and to get ready, since it was our last day of the trip and there was no way I was missing it!
By the time we loaded into the car and headed out, the leaky faucet nose had started.  I definitely sneezed a LOTTTTTTT through the entire day - huge, rib-cracking sneezes, that had my entire rib cage and back hurting well before lunchtime and through the evening. But I pressed forward, tried not to make a big deal. As I had been throughout the trip, I was even more militant in insisting the family use hand sanitizer and antibacterial hand wipes all day long than I already had been (which was a lot). But yeah, it was a very long and difficult day.
I put myself to bed in isolation that night - I didn’t want anyone else catching my germs!  The good side of my isolation is, I didn’t disturb anyone else’s sleep that night, and I managed to abstain from infecting anyone. One down side is, I suppose it meant that no one in the house saw how sick I actually was, and by the transitive property, perhaps even I didn't register how sick I was. That night, I ran a very high fever, yet was having teeth-chattering chills for hours. I couldn’t breathe through my nose, and coughed nonstop. I got awful, fitful sleep, with weird, violent, vivid dreams all night.
The next day, I started suspecting that maybe I didn’t just have a cold - maybe it was the flu?  We tried to locate an urgent care clinic where I could get a rapid flu test, but it proved hard to find anywhere with a <6 hour wait, and I was absolutely determined not to get anyone else sick (least of all my post-CABG father or my two young kids).  So I insisted Dr. Spouse just call in a Tamiflu prescription for the entire household - it would be therapeutic for me, and prophylactic for all of them. He dutifully obliged, and we were all on Tamiflu by 2:30 pm Friday. We said goodbye to my parents this evening - they flew out of Orlando directly to New Orleans - and Dr. Spouse, the kids and I would drive back to Miami the next day.
That night’s sleep was worse than the previous, and featured the worst fever sweats I’ve ever had in my life, soaking through all my clothes, all the bedsheets, down to the mattress cover. It seriously looked like someone had dumped the Gatorade bucket on me after winning the Super Bowl. And again, I had violent, bloody dreams of war imagery all night....
The next day was every bit as painful as the last, and perhaps more so - my entire head and chest were clogged with sludge, the body ache was debilitating, and worst was that I felt like I couldn’t really think straight or make good decisions.  In a nutshell, we weren’t packed up at all, and I woke up from fitful sleep about 9:30 that day and to my horror realized we had to check out of the rental cottage by 11 - - I was trying to run around and pack, but my body and brain were literally not working properly together.  It was brutal - and we were definitely an hour late vacating the property.  I ended up falling asleep within minutes as we started our drive home, and slept 3.5 hours of the 4 hour drive, which SHOCKED me and Dr. Spouse - I never sleep on road trips!  Should have known this was a bad sign that something was really wrong.
Sunday and Monday, things started looking up. I still had terrible sinus congestion, but the cough and fevers were improving, and my energy level was slowly returning! Hurray! Time to get back to normal..... except, weirdly, some new weird symptoms popped up. I was blowing my nose a LOT, admittedly - but I developed a nosebleed sometime early Monday morning, and it just... didn’t stop. For well over 24 hours. Then I noticed a few weird red spots on my face and neck - I assumed maybe I’d scratched in my sleep when I was sweaty at night? But by Tuesday, there were more red spots in more places. Everywhere. On my back, stomach, chest, arms, legs, feet... my sinus symptoms were better, but these spots were weird.  It hit a head on Tuesday morning when Dr. Spouse and I sat down to breakfast. I definitely had more spots than I’d had an hour before. I poured myself a bowl of cereal and began to eat, but then I noticed my mouth felt funny. I realized, to my horror (sorry, TMI) - I had big spots in my mouth too, and they looked like these blood-filled blisters all over the insides of my cheeks and the back of my throat. They looked like dark purple jellybeans, stuck everywhere on my oral mucosa - and some of them were doubling and tripling in size before my very eyes. One burst, right there at the table, and suddenly a trickle of blood oozed our the corner of my mouth. Dracula Mommy, yikes - Dey was at once amazed and horrified. And all the while, my nose was still bleeding.
Dr. Spouse looked grave and got panicky. He had three patients to see in clinic, but he wanted me to get medical attention ASAP.  I initially felt like maybe this was a bit of an overreaction, I didn’t think it warranted an ER trip, and I was feeling rather sheepish to bother a lot of people, and bewildered at the childcare logistics - especially considering it was New Year’s Eve.  Besides, my sinus congestion and energy level were feeling better - so how sick could I really be?  
Well, turns out I was wrong. It turns out there was actually something seriously wrong with me.
Blood tests revealed I had developed a very serious condition called thrombocytopenia. This is a condition where a person’s blood platelets levels drop dangerously low, making it difficult or impossible for them to clot. It makes any sort of wound or injury or weakness in any vessel or the body a potential site for deadly hemhorrage. In my case, it happened to be very severe. The normal lab ranges for blood platelets are between 150,000-400,000. At my ER admission, my labs came in at 1,000, with a little downward arrow next to them! It was a dire situation - basically, I could have hemhorraged from anywhere, from my head to my toes, from my brain to my entire GI tract.  I could have died.
Very quickly after the issue was diagnosed, I was administered a transfusion of IV steroids, followed by two units of donor platelets.

After the platelets, I had to receive something called IVIG, or IV immunoglobulins. I believe these are to boost my immune system and help it stop accidentally nuking itself in the course of fighting the flu virus, or whatever pathogen started me down this insane road. The IVIG infusion, as it would turn out, would take like HOURS - maybe 8 hours total - and it was determined that I’d have to be admitted to the hospital (to the ICU, no less!) for a whopping FOUR DAYS, to receive further IVIG treatments until my platelet levels came back to an acceptable range. I was FLOORED and overwhelmed at this news, of course - again is really thought perhaps Dr. Spouse was being overly cautious initially. But I soon realized the gravity of the situation and promised to comply with all the healthcare professionals’ advice.
Although I cringed to do it, knowing a) what they’ve gone through recently, and b) the fact that we’d JUST spent the week with them in Orlando and sent them peacefully home, I found myself with no choice but to phone Ajima and Thatha from the ER and explain what was going on. True to form, they mobilized within minutes, and had plane tickets booked in no time. They arrived right around midnight on New Years Eve to relieve our wonderful friend/former Nanny S, who graciously pinch-hit and babysat the kids at home so Dr. Spouse could come be with me. I’d been in the ER from about 1 pm till maybe 5:30 or 6 pm, and eventually been transferred to an intermediary ICU room, where I’d spend the next 4 days.

I spent the next 4 days mostly in bed - I wasn’t permitted to walk around unattended, use the bathroom on my own, shower without supervision, etc. because even though I felt fine and am ordinarily physically able, I was considered a bleed risk if I accidentally stumbled or took a fall.  So in bed I stayed.  And for about 10-12 hours each day, I received IV infusions through both arms of steroids and IVIG.  It was a surreal experience, but also an incredibly fortuitous one, in that I didn’t really feel all that sick!  Dr. Spouse would come visit me for a few hours each afternoon through the nights, and my parents would bring the kids for about an hour each evening.  I had a wonderful crew of nurses who looked after me, talked with me, made sure I was comfortable and well-fed.  And my medical team was also very good, especially my hematologist, who was careful, methodical, and very even-keel about everything, explaining what had likely happened to me, what the next steps were, and what I should look out for in the future. 
I have A LOT more to say about this experience, especially all that has now happened afterwards, and all the follow-up care I must now receive.  It is going to be a journey for awhile longer.  But for now, a few thoughts in closing out this post....
It’s weird. Obviously, I wish NONE of this had happened - but I also felt so incredibly lucky.  Because: 
1). I’m so glad my post-heart surgery dad, senior citizen mom, and young kids didn’t get this virus, and that it was only me.  I’m also glad Dr. Spouse, our primary breadwinner, care provider for hundreds of people, and our beloved daddice of our family didn’t get it.  
2). If this absolutely had to happen to me, I consider myself lucky that in recent years, I’ve put my fitness first, and especially these last few weeks, I’ve been training for a race series, which means I’ve been eating right, training rigorously, attending to my cardiovascular health as well as my lean muscle composition, taking lots of multivitamins, and even pursuing yoga for restorative, rehabilitative, and emotional/mental health.  Basically, I was AS HEALTHY as I could have been going into this, and I think that saved my life.  I didn’t have a fatal vascular weakness that gave way to hemorrhage, because I’ve had the blessing of the opportunity to take good care of myself.
3). I have an ANGEL on my side.  My uncle Marley was definitely looking out for me.  Aside from being a huge source of love and support - it so happens that Marley suffered for many years from a platelet disorder which was constantly being managed.  He was of course the first person who came to mind when I got diagnosed with this issue - - and I swear he was looking out for me. I even have evidence to that effect.  Will share in a followup post.
4). Last but not least - - this one is overwhelming and wonderful.  
I met my husband when we were about 18 years old.  I had no idea at the time what the future held for us - but this person has evolved into many things, including a WONDERFUL, sensitive, intelligent, and proactive physician. He is REALLY, REALLY good at what he does for a living - and I think that’s because he would do it even if he didn't make a living doing it.  He LOVES his particular field of medicine.  And it so happens that he is a stroke neurologist, who sees patients with brain bleeds and emergency events related to bleeding/clotting every single day.  So it was my incredible fortune that the man I’m married to, saw what was happening with me, wasted ZERO time, and insisted I get care. 
My husband saved my life.  He is my hero.

College Isn’t So Bad.. Chapter Update! Chapter One | Chapter Two | Chapter Three | Chapter Four | Chapter 4.5 | Also on AO3!
Keith’s been working hard and staying up late to study, so it’s inevitable that he’s going to get sick. He just doesn’t like to admit it. Hunk’s worried, and as happy as Keith feels about someone caring about it, he can’t figure out why someone would care for him so much.
And all of this makes Lance and Pidge think Hunk has something for Keith, but Hunk says “We’re just friends! Friends care about each other!”
“I thought about getting you something because we consider us good friends.”
It’s the words that echoed through Keith’s head throughout the rest of his shift at work. He regretted keeping the stuffed hippo Hunk won him in the backroom until he could clock out and head back to the dorms. Hunk showing up seemed to make the rest of his night go better. Since the start of his shift, his work day had been hell. The store looked like a mess, and he got couples coming in making out against the bookcases. He got the few girls talking loudly, laughing loudly, gossiping loudly in the bookstore. Not to mention taking selfies in every part of store, which Keith tried to avoid getting in the best he could but he had to fix up that section when they were taking selfies. Not to mention the kids that came into the store, begging and pleading Keith for a discount on books.
Not that Keith could blame them, and he’d pass out discounts like high schoolers with gum if he could. But he’s lucky enough he gets a ten percent discount on things, and he books and supplies were still expensive to him.
Yeah. Hunk coming in during his shift made him relax a little. It seemed like the terrible mood he had been in since the start of his shift was to prepare him for Hunk’s sunny personality to come waltzing through that door to make it all right. Him and his bright smile that could make the sun jealous. His shining eyes that could make the shining stars seem full in comparison. His sunny personality that was so warm that it made Keith relax so much he could sleep underneath the sun like a cat.
Yeah. Hunk was a good roommate and friend. Keith wouldn’t switch roommates for the world.
When his shift ends, Keith helps Luxia close down the store before they gather their personal belongings and clock out together. Keith walks to the dorms alone in the dark, the sidewalk being lit up by the lanterns pressed into the grass by plastic stakes. The stuffed hippo is in his bag, making his tote bag look stuffed compared to how flat it was when he left the college dorms. He’s hoping no one questions it, even though he doubts anyone would remember if his bag was empty or stuffed when he left anyway. He enters the dorm building, and goes for the stairs, heading straight up to his room. He takes his keys out of his pocket, the metal clanging together as he searches for the right key and opens the door. Once inside, he closes and locks the door, back resting against the door as he pulls the stuffed hippo out of his bag.
“Oh, you’re back.”
Keith jumps; startled at the sudden voice. He looks up to see Hunk standing by the walkway to the door, hands on his hips and a smile on his face. Keith swears he almost had a heart attack from Hunk being there. Honestly he’s a little surprised Hunk’s not asleep. Was he waiting up for him? Oh god. Keith really hopes that’s not the case.
“Sorry, did I scare you? I didn’t mean to. Honest.” Hunk says, arms falling from his side and shrugging. “I was just waiting up for you so I can make sure you get food in you.”
“I would have been fine, Hunk.”
“Eating microwavable macaroni and cheese isn’t fine, Keith,” Hunk scoffs, shaking his head. “I make better macaroni and cheese than Kraft. Which, speaking of, that’s what I made. It just has a bunch of different cheeses.”
“You really didn’t have to make me anything, Hunk. And you didn’t have to wait up for me? Aren’t you tired?” Keith’s panicking now. Why does he have a nice roommate, and what did he do to deserve Hunk? Plus how the hell does someone react to something like this? Regardless of saying these things, he’s following Hunk to the kitchen anyway, with the stuffed hippo held against his stomach, arms wrapped around it. “I.. uh.. appreciate it though.”
“Don’t mention it. You’re a roommate and a good friend. As friends, it is my duty to make sure you eat properly,” Hunk says, going for a pot and opening a drawer, taking a large plastic spoon out of the drawer. He scoops some macaroni and cheese into a bowl and pops it in the microwave. When it gives a beep, he places it on the counter, sticking a spoon in the bowl. “Come on. Eat.”
Keith lets out a sigh, knowing he won’t get out of this. He sets the stuffed hippo down on a chair, placing his tote bag on there, as well, and steps over to Hunk’s side. He takes the bowl in his hands and turns, back pressed against the counter as he takes a spoonful of macaroni and cheese. His eyes widen at the taste, tasting several cheeses that work so well with each other. He ends up eating half the bowl before he notices Hunk’s staring at him with a wide grin on his face. Keith feels his face flush in embarrassment. Hunk was just watching him eat. Or, well, that’s not bad – not as bad as how Keith was sucking up the macaroni and cheese like he was a vacuum. Keith swallows down the mouthful he has before speaking.
“Uh, sorry. You probably don’t want to watch me eat this as if I was a competitive eater,” Keith says, lowering the bowl. “You don’t have to stay up with me, you know..”
“I don’t mind. To both those things. I’m glad someone appreciates my macaroni and cheese that’s not just Lance and Pidge,” Hunk says with a small laugh. “Plus, I want to stay up with you. You look tired, and I want to make sure you get to bed and not just.. pass out on the couch.”
“It was a tiring work day. And I’d rather talk about it.” Keith’s lips form into a small pout at that last part though, a little offended. “I’m not going to pass out on the couch!”
“Hey, when you’re tired, literally the floor is comfortable.”
Keith’s about to open his mouth to retort, but Hunk’s right. There were times where he was so tired that he’d just sleep on the floor at his desk. Sometimes in the bath tub until Shiro found him sitting in cold water and woke him up to get him dried off, dressed, and into a proper bed. Though that was six months into he started living with Shiro, where Keith preferred baths over showers because they were more relaxing. Keith never fell asleep in a bath again after that, and by remembering that moment, his face heats up a little with embarrassment. He quickly shakes it off though, finishing with his bowl of macaroni and cheese. He thinks about asking for seconds, but he doesn’t want to ask for too much. He thinks about it for a good half a minute before shoving his bowl over and asking for another bowl.
Hunk laughs and nods, giving Keith another bowl filled with macaroni and cheese.
Keith goes to bed with a full stomach that night, though he mostly stays up sitting at his desk trying to do schoolwork.  He ends up drawing random doodles in his notebook, just simple little sketches that don’t really mean much. It’s just small flowers and leaves with light shading from his pencil. Letting out a small sigh, Keith pushes himself away from his desk and changes his clothes into sleepwear; a simple pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. Jumping on his bed, he covers up with his blanket and end sup falling right to sleep.
When he wakes up, he wakes up to his alarm again as well as a pounding headache. It’s behind his eyes and when he sniffles, his nose is clogged. Without a doubt it’s a sinus headache and Keith groans. He prays he’s not getting sick, seeing as how he works a noon to eight today and tomorrow he’s supposed to have a study session with Hunk, Pidge, and Lance. He doesn’t even know what time all four of them are supposed to meet up, but he hopes it’s not early so he could sleep in a little. He’s not really one to sleep one, but considering he thinks he’s getting sick – but hopes he’s not – he could use all the rest he could get if he’s not dealing with school or work. And with college students wanting to show up to class rather than sleep in the dorms to get better, Keith knows there would be more germs going around campus. It would be surprising if half the students didn’t end up sick in the same week.
Keith gathers things up to take a shower, changing into work out gear. The steam from the hot shower clears up his congestion a little, and when he’s out of the shower, he remembers the medical supplies Shiro sent with him. He hasn’t needed to open it yet, and he manages to find it with ease. There’s pills to relieve sinus congestion and aspirin, so he takes both, hoping they work fast. He has schoolwork to work on after he goes to the GYM on campus. And, again, he works at noon today so he’s really hoping the medicine works so he doesn’t drag through the afternoon and evening. He takes in a deep breath before heading down to the GYM, hoping his body lets him go through his usual workout with the medicine in him.
After thirty minutes in the GYM, Keith feels hotter than he’s supposed to. He’s even sweating more than he’s supposed to. He goes to the vending machine, purchasing a bottle of water and chugging half the bottle down before going back to his workout. He doesn’t even last ten minutes before his throat feels scratchy. Frustrated with himself, he decides to leave the GYM. Once back at the dorms, he takes a short, cold shower, hoping that helps him cool off. Thankfully it does, and he lets out a sigh of relief. He ties his hair up, changing into a tank top and a pair of shorts for the time being. He’ll change into something more acceptable for work later, but for now, he needs his body to cool down. He sits in his room with his desk fan pointed directly at him, leaning back in his chair and letting the cool air hit him. It feels good, and he could sit there forever. Which it’s unfortunate that he can’t, considering he has work in just a few hours. And those few hours go by fast when he decides to just sit there, not touching the homework he tried working on last night.
Well, he does have tomorrow to do it. At least then he’ll be with the others and they can motivate him. They’d all motivate each other like Hunk said Thursday. Keith snorts at the thought he could properly motivate anyone. He can’t even motivate himself to do schoolwork. Motivating himself to sketch or photograph was a different story, though.
Before he knows it, it’s time for him to get ready for work. He peels himself off his desk chair with a groan and going over to his clothes, changing out of his shorts and tank top into a pair of pants and a simple t-shirt. He wears an apron over his clothes anyway, and Luxia never specified a dress code, but he might as well make himself look presentable and not wear a shit with writing on it or the jeans with rips and tears in the legs.
He fixes up his hair, slips a few bottles of water in his tote bag and slips his glasses on. He decides to take the aspirin and sinus congestion pills with him, just in case he needs to take them. (He’ll need to, but he’s still hoping his congestion doesn’t get that bad for him take medicine during work.) After grabbing his phone, he heads out, but as he leaves his room, he bumps into Hunk.
“Uh, sorry, Hunk,” Keith says, stepping back into his room. Hunk stares at him for a long moment, completely quiet. “..Something wrong?”
“Huh? Uh, no. Not really.” Hunk responds quickly. He was looking at Keith, honestly. Has he always worn glasses and he just hasn’t realized it? Hunk swallows hard, rubbing the back of his neck. “I was just about to make myself heading to eat before heading to class. Do you want something?”
“I don’t really have much of an appetite right now, plus I have to head to work, so I don’t have much time,” Keith says, fixing his tote bag on his shoulder. He’ll probably end up getting hungry later and then he’ll regret those words, but there’s always a vending machine in the lobby, right before the bookstore, actually. “Don’t worry about it. What class do you have?”
“An engineering class. There’s a test coming up, too, so our study session tomorrow with Lance and Pidge is going to help. If you’re still up for that?”
“Of course I am,” Keith answers, a small smile appearing on his lips. Hunk looks skeptical though. “..What?”
“I don’t know, you just.. don’t look so great?” Hunk questions and Keith raises an eyebrow. “Not like that! I mean.. you’re swollen around your nose. And you sound congested. Are you getting sick? We can do the study session some other time so you can rest. I can make you soup when I come back from class and bring it to you at work, too! Should you even be going to work?”
“Hunk. Hunk. I’m fine. Trust me.” It’s a lie, but Keith hopes Hunk believes it. It’s more that Keith would be fine. A little congestion isn’t going to keep him from studying with the others, nor is it going to stop him from working. “It’s just allergies. I have something to take care of it.”
“If you say so..”
“I’ll see you later. Have fun in class.”
As if anyone could have fun in class. Then again, Hunk seems to like engineering as much as he likes cooking considering the talk they had Thursday when Hunk was fixing Red. So Keith supposes that there’s one person out of a thousand that actually liked going to class. Keith leaves the dorms and heads to work, where he ends up popping another aspirin before clocking into work. Luxia is having him open boxes in the back and sort things, to make it easier to stock. Keith lets out a breath of relief, because he doesn’t think he can deal with people right now without his temper getting the best of him.

Hunk’s engineering class seemed to go by quick. You know what they say: time goes by fast when you’re having fun. And for Hunk, he has a lot of fun in his engineering class. He learns so much that his notebook is filled with notes that are colour coded as well as numerous post it notes in the notebook, marked with chapters and information to keep it even more organized. He’s a little disappointed that the class ends so quick, but when he leaves, he heads straight for Lance’s and Pidge’s dorm, where they are both awake, but sitting lazily on the couch as they play a fighting game.
Sometimes Hunk’s grateful to have an extra key to their dorm, other times he wishes he would forget about it and knock so one of the two would get up to answer the door. (Lance would probably be the one answering, because when Pidge is comfortable, she is not getting up even if there’s a fire. Even then, she wouldn’t think it would worth losing her comfort because of a fire.)
“Please don’t tell me you two have been sitting like that all day,” Hunk hopes they haven’t, but Pidge and Lance exchange looks for a moment, going quiet. “..You have, haven’t you.”
“You told us not to tell you.” Pidge says with a shrug. “It’s a lazy kind of day, Hunk. Let us have this.”
“Please tell me you’ve at least eaten?” Hunk says, hopeful but the two go quiet again. “Oh my god you guys.”
“We’ve eaten!” Lance declares, gesturing towards the chip bag and bowl full of dip on the table. “As Pidgey says – it’s a lazy kind of day.”
“You two need to eat something other than chips and dip.” Hunk sighs, walking over to the couch and grabbing the controller out of Lance’s hand and pausing the game. “Get off the couch and get dressed. We’re going out for lunch.”
“Do we have to go outside? I don’t want to deal with people today.”
“You don’t want to deal with people at all, Pidge,” Lance says and Pidge shrugs. “I guess Mama Hunk is right. We need food. C’mon, babe.”
“I’m not a mother! I just care about my friends and their well being.” Hunk huffs, folding his arms over his chest. “I’ll buy, too, and Pidge, peanut butter cookies are not a lunch, they are a treat.”
“Mom read my mind!”
“I’m not a mom!”
Hunk wonders what he did to get friends like Lance and Pidge. Don’t get him wrong, he loves his best friends. When they got together, Hunk hoped Lance would be able to make sure Pidge ate properly. He and Lance grew up with large families, and learned recipes along the way. Sometimes Lance would cook something homemade, other times it’s pop a frozen pizza in the oven and call it good. Especially when Pidge is a picky eater, it’s hard to make something she’d actually eat to fill her up. (But she’d eat a bunch of food if Lance’s or Hunk’s families offered it because she knows how to be polite.)
It doesn’t take long for Pidge to get ready; she throws on a t-shirt of Lance’s a pair of overalls, letting one strap hang off while the other is on her shoulder. She decides to wear a baseball cap for the day since she can’t be bothered with her hair. Lance on the other hand took triple the time it took Pidge, and he comes out wearing a simple shirt and jeans, and also comes holding a hairbrush. He knocks the hat off of Pidge’s head and proceeds to brush the nest that sits atop his girlfriends head. Hunk chuckles as Pidge struggles to get Lance off of her, insisting her hair is fine, and yet Lance still keeps at it.
“My hair is fine, Lance!” Pidge huffs, but gives up on fighting, arms folding over her chest. “Meanwhile it took you like, fifteen minutes to get ready just for something simple.”
“Hey, I look good, my face is cleansed, and I’m ready to show the world my beauty.” Lance says and Pidge lets out a snort.
“What beauty?”
“Pidge! You’re my girlfriend! You’re supposed to tell me I’m beautiful!”
“Then I’d be telling a lie.”
“Wha- Hunk!”
“You’re beautiful, Lance,” Hunk says with a grin. “Your face reminds me of the sky; clear like your face, a gorgeous shade of blue like your eyes, and smile shining like the sun.”
“Aw, Hunk,” Lance is smiling wide, face flushed. “You flatter me. See, Pidge. That’s how you’re supposed to act.”
“Why would I want to act like that? That’s gross. Save that for Keith, Hunk.” Pidge says, waving a hand. “You’ll never catch me saying that shit.”
Hunk’s face flushes at that accusation, “P-Pidge! I don’t like Keith in that way! He’s just a good guy and a good roommate. I told you guys that yesterday!”
“Uh-huh. We totally believe you, buddy.”
Lance finally manages to get Pidge’s hair brushed, and as soon as he sets the hairbrush down, Pidge grumbles, reaching for her hat. She puts it back on, and Lance narrows his eyes at it. He decides to leave it be though and the trio leaves to go get lunch. There’s a nice little sub shop near campus they both like, and Lance drives, with Pidge resting in the backseat on her phone. They order their subs and sit down at a table, with Pidge’s feet propped up on Lance’s lap. He acts like he minds, but he can’t exactly force Pidge’s feet off his lap when they’re sitting across from each other. They talk about Hunk’s engineering class, and Lance talks about how he’s dreading midterms coming up. Pidge thinks she’ll ace them all, which Hunk and Lance have no doubts that she would.
Somehow they get on the topic of Keith, and Pidge shares a few stories and some information about him. Hunk’s making mental notes, and he sighs with relief to hear Keith’s not a fighter when it comes to taking medicine. If he is getting sick like Hunk thinks he is, he’d like to help his roommate and best friend the best way he possibly could. Though from what he hears, Keith would chug down a bottle of DayQuil before reading the dosage in order for him to stay up if he has an assignment due or has something important he has to do during the day.
So that means Keith would be stubborn with getting rest. Peachy.
“Why the sudden interest in Keith anyway, Hunk?” Lance questions, eyebrow raised. “And why ask Pidge. You could ask all these things yourself.”
“I just want to know more about him? And I feel like I’d be annoying if I asked him a thousand questions at once.” Hunk shrugs. “Especially if he likes to keep to himself. It’s good to know these things so I don’t anger him in the future.”
“I highly doubt you would. Keith may have a bit of a temper, but he usually controls it pretty well? For the most part anyway,” Pidge explains. “I’ve known him for a while, and his temper usually came when he’s stressed. Or when I whooped his ass in games.”
“That’s understandable, though. I get angry too when you beat me at game – even first person shooter ones!” Lance says. “You’re not supposed to be good at those! Those are my games!”
“Tough shit. Also, Hunk, you’re right to come to me for this information. Keith usually doesn’t talk about himself much. When someone asks him to tell them about himself, he freezes up and may say the same thing about two or three times before he finds something else to say,” Pidge continues, stirring her straw around in her glass, ice clinking against the glass. “It wouldn’t be annoying, but I feel as if Keith would freak out because he doesn’t know what would be the right thing to say. He’s.. a special sort of case. But it’s not my place to talk about his past.”
“Huh..”
He’s learning a lot about Keith, and silently wonders if Keith would ever talk about his past with Hunk. He knows he and Lance are open to talk about their family and their pasts, Lance especially. Pidge was different; she doesn’t talk about her family much unless she asked, finding the information about them basically boring. Not to mention it puts a downer on her mood to talk about her brother considering he’s halfway across the world studying abroad. His schedule is jam packed, so he rarely has time to talk to Pidge over skype. Pidge’s lucky enough to get a letter from him every month. Although she understands why her brother chose to study abroad, she doesn’t have to like it. Everyone was different.
“And I’m pretty sure you can only get him to say his tragic backstory when you hit level four of his friendship.”
Oh. Well that answers that. What level was he even at now? Was he even at a level?
“We should get going. There’s actually this dessert shop I want to stop by since we’re down here,” Lance says, pushing out away from the table and stretches, arms over his head. “As much as I love your baking, Hunk, I have a taste for something sweet now.”
“Non-taken. Even I get impatient when I’m baking.” And he sometimes licks the batter out of the bowl, but he won’t tell anyone that. Though something else crosses Hunk’s mind. “Uh, I’m going to grab one more thing before we go.”
He knows Keith didn’t seem to want a surprise visit at work from Hunk, and he seemed to turn down the soup idea, but the sub shop did sell good soup. He might as well get a small cup of the chicken noodle soup they have and surprise Keith with that anyway.

For Keith, it seemed like his shift dragged on forever. On weekends, it was either super slow that watching paint dry was more interesting, or crazy busy that it was difficult to get five minutes to take a breather. There was no in between.
Even if Keith was organizing things in the back, and later stocking them, his first hour seemed to go by crazy slow. He’d dreading going out on the sales floor to stock, because he’d have to deal with people, but each time he checked the time, he’s lucky five minutes passed since the last time he checked it. Now it’s barely been three and a half hours since he started – and those hours when by so slowly – and he feels as if he’ll never get out of work. He’s been going at a slow pace with organizing, just to try to kill time faster, but that doesn’t seem to be working. He lets out a huff, deciding now would be a good time for a break. He still sounds congested, and Luxia wanted to send him home when she saw him, but he insisted he was fine. (“Just take it easy,” she told him. “If you don’t feel well enough to be here, you’re free to go home whenever you’d like.” Yeah. Right. Even if Keith had a broken arm, he’d still work because he needs money.)
Keith groans as he gets off the stock room, having had been on his knees for a while separating the different designs of stationary they had gotten in. It’s fall, and Halloween is a good month away, give or take a few days. With that, the bookstore is sent fall themed and Halloween themed stationary, thinking more people would buy something more decorative than plain. Luxia confirms that it has worked in previous years, especially since whoever buys a notebook, gets a pack of pencils half off. The only bad thing about some of this stationary? Some of it has glitter on it. Fronts covered in brightly coloured leaves, glitter pressed into the design. Some of it has gotten on Keith’s fingers, and without a doubt it’s in his hair and his face.
He takes off his apron, and tells Luxia he’s going on break. He heads outside of the bookstore, going to the vending machine, and using a couple of dollars to buy himself a Powerade. As soon as it comes out of the vending machine, he shakes the juice and opens the bottle, taking one long sip of it. The cold feels good on his throat, and he already feels some of his energy being restored.
“Keith?”
Keith blinks, turning his head to see Hunk, as well as Pidge and Lance. Keith blinks, wondering what they are doing here again. Coming to see him at work couldn’t be that interesting, could it? Unless they just needed something from the bookstore and just ended up seeing him while they bought things. Keith thinks it’s the second option, honestly. He’s never had friends, and if he did make a friend or two, it’s because they wanted something from him. Or they acted as his friends for a while before excluding him from everything, ignoring him, and then started to tease him behind his back.
Yeah. His life wasn’t a fun one, and he’d rather not look back it now but he can’t help but feel anxious. He doesn’t want this to happen again. He likes Hunk, even though he can’t understand why he cares about him so much. It took him months to figure out why Shiro wanted to help him, too. He guesses he should be thankful, but he’s lived with people that didn’t care, and as a young boy, he just thought that was the harsh part of life. He just took it as it came and thought it was normal. But that’s a side of him only Shiro and Pidge know of, and he knows neither of them would spill his past to people. Not like he’d be angry if they did.
“What are you guys doing here again?”
“We came to visit! You know, that’s what friends do?” Lance says, a wide grin on his face. “Especially if you’re working in the bookstore. That’s retail, my dude, and it is not fun.”
“You’re not allowed to say anything, Lance. You got a job at LUSH during the summer and you loved that job.”
“It’s still retail, and retail sucks, Pidge, no matter if you love or hate your job.”
“Anyway, yes, we did come to visit you, Keith,” Hunk speaks up, stepping forward, away from the other two. “I wanted to see how you were doing? You were pretty congested when you left.”
“I’m fine. I told you that,” Keith says, folding his arms over his chest, holding the Powerade bottle in his left hand by the cap. “I’ve been working in the back so I haven’t been dealing with people. I’m on break right now, though.”
“Good! You have time to eat some of the soup I got for you!”
“You did.. what now.”
There’s tables outside of the bookstore, near the vending machines, and Hunk walks over to one, Keith following, leaving Lance and Pidge behind. Hunk takes a styrofoam container out of the plastic bag, popping off the plastic lid, and steam rises into the air. Keith can’t really smell it, but the soup looks good, he’s not going to lie. And considering all he’s had was a granola bar or two, he could really use some actual food right now. Heck, his stomach is growling just from the sight of it. He prays Hunk doesn’t notice, but he does, and Hunk lets out a light laugh while Keith’s cheeks burn with embarrassment.
“Come on. Sit down and eat up,” Hunk tells him and Keith takes in a small breath before doing as told. He’s not going to deny food since Hunk spent money on him and brought this to his work just for him. Hunk takes a seat right next to Keith, and as soon as he does, he pushes some of Keith’s bangs back to feel his forehead. “You feel a little feverish, Keith. Are you sure you’re going to be okay for our group study session tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” Keith says, taking a spoonful of soup. The steam is clearing his congestion and he’s able to taste some of the soup thankfully. When he looks over to the seat next to him, Hunk still has a concerned look on his face. “Hunk, I swear I’ll be fine. The aspirin I’m taking has a fever reducer in it and I’m taking something for the congestion. It’s just allergies acting up.”
“If you say so, but I’m still worried, alright?”
But why does Hunk worry so much, Keith wonders, but not aloud. His chest feels warm because he’s glad someone cares and worries about him, but he still can’t wrap his finger around the concept that someone would go out of their way to make sure he was alright. Keith eats some of the soup in silence, watching the time as he does, just to make sure he doesn’t get back to work too late. Luxia seems carefree, so he’s sure she wouldn’t mind, but he’d rather get back to work on time.
He’s had to take off his glasses midway through eating because of the steam that came from the soup, but two minutes before he has to head back to work, he takes his glasses and wipes them off on his shirt before slipping them back on. He pops the plastic lid back on the soup, having had finished about half of the soup before he covered it. He’ll probably eat more later. (Keyword probably.)
“I have to head back to work,” Keith explains, knowing Hunk would prefer it if he ate the whole cup of soup, but Keith doesn’t time to do so. He’ll eat more later. Probably. “But.. thanks for bringing this, Hunk. I can pay you back--”
“No! No no. I’m not allowing that.” Hunk interrupts, putting his hands up. “You don’t have to pay me back. Please. I’m just being a good friend here, Keith. You could be getting sick, or it could just be allergies like you said, but I still want to make sure you eat right so you don’t make yourself worse.”
“If you say so.. Still, thanks.”
And Keith smiles and Hunk feels his heart stop. Why does Keith look cute when he smiles? That can’t be fair. Especially when he’s wearing glasses, and he has his hair tied up, and glitter on his face – how did he not notice that last thing before?
“I’ll see you later, Hunk,” Keith says, putting the soup back into the bag and gets up from the table. “I’ll be fine for tomorrow.”
“If you’re sure. I’ll see you later, Keith,” Hunk responds with a small grin. It seems like Keith’s smile grows a bit wider and Hunk watches Keith walk back into the bookstore.
Hunk lets out a sigh, relaxing, and within seconds, Pidge and Lance are next to him.
“Was that a dreamy sigh because you think he’s cute?” Lance comments, raising an eyebrow. “Or a sad sigh because you hate watching him leave, but you love watching him go?”
“Lance, no! Neither of those two things!” Hunk’s face turns warm, hands covering his face. “A sigh of relief because he seems to be doing better! And he’s still on for the study session tomorrow.”
“Speaking of, when are we doing that?” Pidge says, leaning on Hunk since he’s still sitting. “The earlier the better considering we have a lot of studying to get done. As much as I don’t like waking up before noon, it’d be worth it for the studying we get in.”
“There’s a small cafe near the campus that I’ve been meaning to go to actually,” Hunk mentions. “We can have it there, and they open at like nine? They have a few different locations, but I haven’t had a chance to go to a single one. And plus the one near campus just opened up this summer? The Five Lions?”
“Oh, yeah, I’ve heard about that! I’ve been to, like, two of their locations. The whole place is practically rainbow, their aprons are colour coded, and the interior is so bright and colourful that it’s a nice, happy place to go to.” Lance says, a wide grin on his face. “I’m game to go there. Leave at nine, then?”
“That’s so early,” Pidge complains, slumping because she is not eager to wake up that early to study. “Better buy me a double shot of espresso while we’re there because that’s the only way I’ll get up.”
“Sure thing, Pidgeon.”
“I’ll let Keith know when he gets back from work,” Hunk says. “He should be back by eight-thirty tonight, and he’ll get enough rest to be able to get up that early.”
“Can’t you text him?” Pidge offers, though when Hunk looks at her blinking, she realizes-- “Right. You don’t have his number. Give me your phone.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to give out his number like that--”
“Just give me your damn phone, Hunk.”
Reluctantly, Hunk digs his phone out of his pocket, handing it over to Pidge. He still thinks it’s not a good idea to hand out Keith’s phone number to people, even if it is just Hunk. Pidge types the number in, and she’s about to hand the phone back over when Lance snatches it out of her hands.
“I’ll text the Mullet,” Lance says, and Hunk’s panicking because what the hell is Lance going to say. “Oh, interesting name to have him as, Pidge.”
“What. What did she put.”
“You’ll find out,” Pidge says with a grin and leans on Lance, trying to see what he’s typing in. He ends up showing her before he sends it and her grin grows wider. It makes Hunk even more nervous. “I like it.”
“What did you--” Lance hands the phone back over and Hunk looks at the contact name and then the text Lance sent. His face glows crimson. “Lance! Pidge!”
He so wishes there was an ‘undo’ button on text messages.

Keith’s still in the stock room, nearly done with organizing merchandise. His phone vibrates in his apron pocket, and takes a quick glance around before taking it out to see what the notification was. It’s from an unknown number, but he opens the message anyway.
Hey, Keith! It’s Hunk. I just wanted to inform you that the study session will be at 9AM tomorrow at the Five Lions near campus. Don’t worry about money – I can pay for you. Can’t wait for tomorrow!!
There’s added emojis such as a smiley face and hearts, and there’s even a kissing emoji on there that makes Keith wonder if that was an accidental emote or on purpose. Though the hearts and kissing emoji make his face flush, but he tries not to think anything of it. He quickly saves Hunk’s number and makes a mental note to text him back later on.
And as he’s cleaning up the stock room, he feels himself smiling. He silently admits he can’t wait for tomorrow either, and makes another mental note to fight with Hunk over who was paying.

If you’ve had a cold lately it could also be your e. tubes are clogged up with snot and it’s just not draining. Decongestant helps me when that happens?
i haven’t had a cold (i don’t think), but i have been kind of congested and weirdly snotty lately. i actually took a decongestant this morning because i had a headache and i thought it might be sinus pressure. it didn’t really help either issue :/

“Harry,” she said, tugging at the quilt that lay over him. “It's nearly noon, love.”
Harry stirred and opened his eyes for a moment, blinking in the bright sunlight. He groaned and rolled over, burying his face in his pillow.

The month passed in a blur of mixed emotions. Sirius was innocent and free! The joy of the news had been overwhelming for Remus, who had assumed for over a decade that Sirius was lost to him. But Remus had been forced to leave Hogwarts and the security of a safe transformation with Wolfsbane, not to mention a warm and cozy place to live plus a salary more generous than any other he'd ever received.
It was the impending transformation without Wolfsbane that weighed most heavily on Remus' mind. After eight moons spent curled up in his professors' quarters, returning to the dreaded basement of his dilapidated cottage in Yorkshire seemed unbearable. But he had no other choice.
He went down into the damp basement before moonrise and prepared for the usual worst. The next morning, he woke to a cacophony of pain and the dull ache of fever. It would be at least an hour before he'd be able to get to his feet. He lay, face pressed to the ground, floating between delirium and lucidity.
Beside him, he heard a sound. Slowly, with great effort, he turned his head over to look towards the stairs that led up to his cottage. A large black dog sat staring at him. It wagged its tail and whined softly.
“You can't be here,” Remus rasped to the dog. “They're going to be watching me. They want to find you so badly.”
His vision swam and he closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the fever addling his thoughts and sending chills down his limbs. With a deep, steadying breath, he looked again, but the dog had vanished.
He felt his heart sink for a moment. Sirius was far, far away now if he knew what was good for him. He was going somewhere tropical, Harry had told him before he'd left Hogwarts. There was no reason for him to be in Yorkshire. It was the fever playing tricks. He needed to get to bed and rest...
Gathering his strength, he sat up. After about twenty minutes of slow effort, he made it up to the small bedroom and under the quilts, breathing heavily from the exertion. When it ceased, he caught his breath and pinched at the bridge of his prominent nose, pressing at his aching sinuses.

“Don't go,” Sirius rasped. “My brain is all woozy. I...Moony, I think I'm hearing things.”
“Shhh,” Remus soothed, sitting down on the edge of the bed. “That's the fever. Try to sleep and I'll try to get something to help you feel better.”

The Canadian Press asked COVID-19 survivors around the country to share their experiences of the volatile disease that can manifest as a mild bug or life-altering illness.

At the peak of his symptoms, Jesse Glowinsky said he strained to look after his young son while curled up in a fetal position beneath a mountain of blankets with the chills.
His wife, however, powered through with the force of a mother “lifting a minivan with child caught underneath.”
The baby had a low-grade fever, but it was hard to tell if he was crying and spitting up because he was sick, or if he was just being difficult.
The parents decided that if the baby’s temperature reached 104 F, they would call 911 to have him taken to the hospital. And because they were symptomatic, there was a chance they couldn’t go with him.

Thankfully, it never came to that. Across generations, the Glowinsky clan came out the other side healthy.

“Having (Xander) here alive and smiling is the best gift we could ever have,” Jesse Glowinsky said.
He said his father still carries a sense of guilt for all the people he unwittingly may have put at risk, but he tries to remind him how many others could have been sickened had he not gotten tested when he did.

“No one intentionally gives the virus to someone else,” he said. “We just didn’t know enough about it then and we still don’t know enough about it now.”
An athlete down for the count
Emily Dwyer would seem to be a poster child for good health: She’s 26 years old, an athelte and says she hasn’t been sick since her youth.
That was until she found herself languishing on a couch in her Halifax apartment, fighting a novel virus no one seemed to fully understand.

By her second full day of non-stop sneezing, Dwyer knew something was amiss.

At that point, there were only a handful of COVID-19 cases in Nova Scotia. Less than a day after getting tested, Dwyer learned she was member of that unfortunate club.
“I didn’t have anyone I could talk to about it,” she said. “I basically just had to really listen to my body and ride it out, and that was really scary and really isolating.”

Dwyer said it felt like the disease was playing “mind games” with her. Every day seemed to bring a new symptom.
She felt like her throat was clogged with sawdust, giving her a dry cough and unquenchable thirst. She couldn’t make it through a two-minute conversation without feeling short of breath.
She had terrible chills, and her body ached as if she had tumbled down a hill, leaving her skin sore to the touch.
Five days in, Dwyer thought she may be on the mend. But soon she felt stabbing pains in her chest.
One night, she noticed that her lips looked blue. The next night, she saw her skin was sapped of colour, and her veins stuck out like “spider webs” on her ashen arms.
When she mentioned the discolouration during her daily phone check-in with a public health worker, Dwyer was instructed to head to the hospital, because it could be a sign she wasn’t getting enough oxygen.

A nurse escorted her from the parking lot to an isolation room. Dwyer said doctors ordered a chest X-ray to see if she had pneumonia, and the results came back negative.
Even after the worst had passed, Dwyer said her ability to taste and smell was touch-and-go.

She slathered her hands in lavender oil and inhaled as deeply as she could — nothing.
After the nausea set in, she had no appetite. But when she forced herself to eat, she found food was devoid of flavour.
Dwyer grew to appreciate the texture of raisin bran, and made her way through some of the untouched groceries cluttering her shelves.
Eventually, Dwyer’s symptoms waned into a sinus infection.
Dwyer said she was initially told she would need two negative swabs to get the all-clear. But she said that requirement was later dropped, and she’d be free to go after 10 days without new or worse symptoms.

It’s been two-and-a-half weeks since Dwyer “recovered,” but she doesn’t feel like her normal self.
Rather than her regular runs, a flight of stairs can leave her feeling winded.

She said the swirling uncertainty about the lasting physiological impacts of the virus, and whether she’s now immune to it, has also taken a psychological toll.
“I still feel alone. Because when I go out in public, other people are having a different experience than me,” she said. “They’re all scared of catching it, whereas I don’t even know really where I stand.”
The “pioneers” of pandemic
There’s no “manual” to getting COVID-19, Libby Kennedy says.
Holed up in her bedroom on Vancouver Island, the 59-year-old writer decided to document her weekslong ordeal in delerious detail online.

Kennedy, who has autoimmune issues and asthma, said she went shopping to stock up on pandemic supplies on March 11. While she couldn’t find toilet paper, Kennedy believes she came home with the novel coronavirus.

Five days later, Kennedy said she was overcome by exhaustion. At first, she thought her allergies were acting up.
But it wasn’t long before illness invaded every part of her body, with new symptoms hitting her in “waves.”
Her temperature spiked. Her head throbbed. Her muscles ached. She lost 10 pounds from vomiting and diahrrea. No amount of coughing could clear the lump lodged in her throat.
But worst of all was the shortness of breath, Kennedy recalled. Gasping for air, Kennedy said she felt the terror of losing oxygen on a chemical level.
March 28 was Kennedy’s “hell day.” She called up 811, and in one-word sentences, told a nurse she couldn’t breathe.

Before she left for the emergency room, Kennedy wrote letters to her 19-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter. She told them to worship their bodies and look out for their friends and each other.
By the time she reached the hospital, her condition had improved. She said doctors examined her and diagnosed her with COVID-19, and told her to get tested for confirmation.
Given the limited supply of testing kits, Kennedy said she didn’t need a swab to tell her what she already knew.

About a month since this all started, she said she still feels the sickness rippling through her body.
She mused that maybe the virus has changed her “biologically.” Perhaps it increased her IQ, or retuned her singing voice, she joked.
“You pay that much, you’d think you get a gift back.”

Much Needed Rant
I’ve never done anything like vent online before, but my one best friend and I are in abit of a fight today. I don’t know what to say... i guess a quick “get to know me” would help to fully understand the story.  
First things first, I am very bad at finding the right the words when trying to express my feelings and thoughts so please bear with me (yes as a 20 something adult who grew up knowing english I am not eloquent at all).  
My best friend, A, is someone who i’ve been with for almost 5 years, he and I met online.  He is the first person I think of when I wake up and the last person I think of at night, he lives with his parents and so do i.  He and I are pretty similar and we have friends, but mainly just stick to the two of us.  We don’t text our friends often and are pretty bad at keeping up in people’s lives. I am currently in nursing school and he works at the same hospital I work at.  He is a security officer and is expected to do 16 hour shifts if someone from the next shift calls in.  Nursing school is very stressful and I am just about to finish my first semester.  
The other day I was at school trying to practice some nursing skills at the school practice lab since I had a skills validation the next day.  It was very stressful since the skills I needed to know were quite alot and were very detailed.  I always study with my nursing buddy, M, she and I practiced for a few hours and decided to go to the computer lab to work on other assignments.  
For the past few days A and I have been sick with a sinus infection, where it has affected us differently.  For A he is completely exhausted, congested, weak, and doesn’t have an appetite.  For me my left ear feels clogged, making it difficult to hear, congested, sore throat, and headaches at the most random times.  
A has been going to work sick and I have been going to school sick also. So as I was at school texting A, he finds out that he has to do an unscheduled 16 hour shift since someone from the night shift had called in (A works 3pm to 11pm typically).  This had made him frustrated and the little energy he had meant he needed to conserve until 7am, that is if his shift ran smoothly.   After finding out about the long shift I offered to bring him food. 
A few days ago my dryer at home broke, which meant I needed to take all of the laundry at home to the laundromat.  However due to a busy weekend I couldn’t do it til that day.  M and I were at school studying until 6:30 in the evening and we parted ways.  I rushed to the laundromat since I needed to get 2 large bins of clothes done and make time to study still.  Doing this, I completely forgot about my promise to A and had to tell him that I can no longer bring him food because of all of the things I needed to get done.  He was basically let down that I couldn’t bring him food, but ordered something before it got late.  We argued about me bringing him food, I felt like he was trying to make me feel bad for not doing that for him.  It wasn’t like he ever asked about how my day was going and the only thing we spoke about that day was about him.  I didn’t want to push him since I knew he was frustrated, but there was a point where I just snapped and was like “I’ve had a hard day too, stop making me feel bad about this.  I just want to go home and rest because I need to wake up early for school the next day.”  It seemed like it made him see my perspective since he dropped the topic and tried to make a joke about something else.
 After spending a few hours at the laundromat I went home and ended up crashing til 3am where I felt absolutely horrible.  I had a splitting headache and I knew that today was going to be a bad day.  I popped 2 ibuprofen and went back to sleep for another 2 hours.  I then got ready for school and arrived to school at 7:20 am.  The day was long day where I had trouble hearing from my left ear, had major stress from my skills validation and a presentation that I needed to give for my fundamentals class.  M and I ate a sandwich for lunch, she had tuna and I had chicken.  M then got a bad case of food poisoning and we went to another nursing buddy of ours’ house ,B.  I drove the three of us to B’s house in M’s car.  M was nauseous and ready to throw up any second.  The moment we arrived to B’s house, M was throwing up.  B and I took care of her unitl she decided to rest. 
 During the chaos, A was texting me asking me what I was doing and where I was.  I didn’t get the chance to reply quickly, but once I replied I told him I was at B’s house studying.  
This is where it begins...
A was then confused and said that I was being inconsiderate for not even calling him before he goes to work.  That hes tired from working 16 hours, only sleeping for a few hours and having to go to work at 3, that it would have been nice if he and I could have talked even if it was just for 5 minutes.  I explained to him that M was not feeling well and I assumed he would just understand and back off.  I was wrong. He and I began to argue, I explained what happened and said how I was helping M with B.  A then said that if B was helping her I didnt need to help and I should have studied or try to rest .  I didn’t understand why he was being like this.  M was the one person this semester who was the one I can rely on and helped me the most, so me helping her when she is sick is nothing.  Now here I am frustrated that he is the one being inconsiderate and is upset that I would help someone.  Its not like I dropped everything and decided to go have fun.  I still tried to study after everything that happened.  
I’m used to giving in and just apologize so that we don’t argue, but I felt really wronged this time and i didn’t want to take it lying down.  I got home around 5:30 pm and was trying to wind down from the day before getting back to study.  Eventually I fell asleep and woke up from a phone call from the hospital, it was A.  Groggy and disoriented I answered the call and once I gathered my bearings we spoke about what happened.  I guess I was hoping it was some sort of misunderstanding on one of our parts, but really he just wanted me to look out for myself and not worry for others.  i understand that, but M isn’t just anybody.  She was the person who helped me study for my exams, she is the only person I really meet up with outside of school and is someone I’ve been very close with in the past 4 months.  A and I argued over the phone to the point where we were both too stubborn to give in and we just ended the phone call.  Now its been hours since our argument and  I am still frustrated over what happened.  I wanted to get a few things off my chest and figured that since no one knows of my tumblr i could rant freely. Was I wrong? Did i misunderstand? Did he just misunderstand? Is he only acting like this from the lack of sleep + him being sick?  I am tired and on the verge of  a breakdown.
