2022 Euros entry #8
Pairs short program
Safina/Berulava(GEO)
Thoughts: this team has such gorgeous lifts. But now knowing how messy Karina’s exit from this sport was. She deserved much better treatment.
Chtchetinina/Magyar(HUN)
Thoughts: Yulia has a gorgeous smile, and I love her hairdo. But I didn’t like the back of her dress.
Hase/Seegert(GER)
Thoughts: is that like a steel blue underneath Minerva’s dress? It doesn’t match. Nolan though, I thought he’d be too soft for his music. He surprised me.
Hocke/Kunkel(GER)
Thoughts: not a fan of the outfits, but the lift exit was cool

The German Skating Union has announced that Minerva Fabienne Hase’s new partner is Russian Nikita Volodin, and that the two will be representing Germany starting in the 2023 - 2024 season.
Hase was formerly paired with Nolan Seegert, who retired after the 2021 - 2022 season. Volodin has had multiple partners over the years, most recently competing with Viktoria Vasileva, with whom he was second alternate to the 2022 Russian Nationals.

2022 Beijing Olympics - Team Event Review - Remining Countries
In contention for a medal: None.
Georgia, Germany, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic all have only one entry in each discipline so it makes predicting their strategy easy :)
Team Georgia
Realistically the only country out of the four that has a chance to finish top 5 and to qualify for the FS segment. All four of their entries can perform well and if any country underperforms, Georgia it right there ready to take over.
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:
Men - Morisi Kvitelashvili
Dance - Kazakova/Reviya
Women - Anastasiia Gubanova
Pairs - Safina/Berulava
Team Germany
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:
Men - Paul Fentz
Dance - Müller/Dieck
Women - Nicole Schott
Pairs - Hase/Seegert*
*With Seegert testng postivie for COVID today, there’s a big change Germany will have to withdraw from the team event.
Team Ukraine
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:
Men - Ivan Shmuratko
Dance - Nazarova/Nikitin
Women - Anastasiia Shabotova
Pairs - Holichenko/Darenskyi
Team Czech Republic

Pre-Rostelecom Cup rambling
I really don’t have that much to say this time. This competition doesn’t have that many skaters that interest me, and I’m not looking forward to the Russian homecooking. I’m half wondering if I should just not watch and check by how many points Trusova won afterwards.
Ladies
The one thing I really hope is that Evgenia has a great competition here. I did the math and she can theoretically still make the GPF, but she’d need nothing less than a gold here. And given that Alexandra Trusova is there, I sadly highly doubt that will happen. But I still hope that Evgenia will have a great competition and end this GP series on a less frustrating note than Skate Canada was for her.
Another thing I’m strongly rooting for is for Satoko Miyahara to make the GPF. (I wanted Young You in the final, but since that’s not happening anymore, I’d really rather have Satoko there than Bradie or Mariah.) She’d ideally need a medal for that - 4th place would still be enough if she gets a higher total score than Bradie. It also depends on how Mariah does here. But yeah, go Satoko!
I also want to wish good luck to Yuna Shiraiwa and Yuhana Yokoi.
Men
I was going to root for Shoma to redeem himself here, but given the stuff that he said recently (I’m sure you’ve all heard about it by now, so I don’t have to go into detail) I’m feeling disappointed in him at the moment. I think I’ll always be a fan of his skating in a “separate art from the artist” way, but hearing about what he said left me feeling conflicted and disappointed. And that’s all I want to say about this for now.
I hope Deniss Vasiljevs and Kazuki Tomono do well, and I’m looking forward to Dmitri Aliev as well.
Pairs
Rooting for Hase/Seegert to not fuck up as badly this time. Also if Boikova/Kozlovskii could win again that’d be cool.

Hase/Seegert (GER)
60.04 into 1st with a SB
They had a really pretty program to Say Something. Side by side 3T and the throw 3S were both clean. Their lifts and spins got pretty high levels for the most part but a few level 2s. It was just a really pretty program and I hope to see more of this pair in the future. They seemed really happy with their performance.
