#worlds2022 #montpellier #occitanie #championatsdumonde #patinageartistique #worldchampionships #iceradio #figureskating #isu #mars2022 #synerglace #patinagemagazine

This is Ukraine's Oleksandra Nazarova and Maksym Nikitin's rhythm dance for the Figure Skating World Championships.
When the war broke out, Nazarova and Nikitin were in their hometown of Kharkiv, a city that is bombarded by the Russians. They escaped to Poland and they decided to take part at the World Championships.
And they created a new program which features two songs: 1944 by Jamala, a song about the deportation of the Crimean Tatars by the Soviet Union, and (Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow) by Boombox's Andriy Khlyvnyuk, a Ukrainian folk song that Khlyvnyuk (who had joined the defence forces) performed a capella on the street and which was remixed by The Kiffness.
They placed 16th after the rhythm dance and later withdrew from the competition.
Please watch this beautiful program and listen to the lyrics.

2022 Beijing Olympics - Team Event Review - Remining Countries
In contention for a medal: None.
Georgia, Germany, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic all have only one entry in each discipline so it makes predicting their strategy easy :)
Team Georgia
Realistically the only country out of the four that has a chance to finish top 5 and to qualify for the FS segment. All four of their entries can perform well and if any country underperforms, Georgia it right there ready to take over.
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:
Men - Morisi Kvitelashvili
Dance - Kazakova/Reviya
Women - Anastasiia Gubanova
Pairs - Safina/Berulava
Team Germany
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:
Men - Paul Fentz
Dance - Müller/Dieck
Women - Nicole Schott
Pairs - Hase/Seegert*
*With Seegert testng postivie for COVID today, there’s a big change Germany will have to withdraw from the team event.
Team Ukraine
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:
Men - Ivan Shmuratko
Dance - Nazarova/Nikitin
Women - Anastasiia Shabotova
Pairs - Holichenko/Darenskyi
Team Czech Republic
First (and only) Strategy - No switches:

Just saw that Oleksandra Nazarova and Maksym Nikitin withdrew from the Free Dance tomorrow.
It's understandable. It's still a terrible way to finish the season.

An emotional performance of Ukrainian figure skaters Oleksandra Nazarova and Maksym Nikitin at the world championship in France. They are from Kharkiv, Nazarov spent weeks there under Russian bombs. They had less than a month to prepare this dance and no time to make costumes

1 NAZAROVA Oleksandra / NIKITIN Maksym
Taking in the moment of those Olympic Rings. Classy move. Score 97.34. 162.87
2 GARABEDIAN Tina / PROULX SENECAL Simon
This music takes me back. I’m a sucker for this type of music. They look very elegant. A little sass never hurt anybody. Three elements under review. Delightful skate. Score 101.16. 167.03
3 KAZAKOVA Maria / REVIYA Georgy
Very innovative thus far. Issue with opening set of twizzles - I guess not L4. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Dark music indeed but intriguing. On the verge of goth/steampunk. I liked it! It drew me in. Eerie. Score 97.25 164.33
4 TASCHLEROVA Natalie / TASCHLER Filip
Brother/sister team. A full bodied piece of music. They exude power. Very dramatic piece. The tempo changes. Spring in Buenos Aires. Argentine Tango. The build up through the performance was sublimely done. Score 101.10. 168.32
5 TURKKILA Juulia / VERSLUIS Matthias
Lyrical. Nice lift sequence. They create lovely lines. She has such joy on her face. Very light and airy skating. Nice slide. A couple of elements under review. An absolutely lovely skate. Score. 105.65. 173.88

Ice Dance Rhythm Dance live blog Warm up Group 1 - This is personal impression. I still can't figure out when someone hits key points.
I didn't realize until halfway through work last night that I was going to be home for the Rhythm Dance. Super excited!
Tim Dieck/Katharina Mueller (GER) - Skating to Suicide Squad. I liked parts of it, I hated parts of it, but they looked like they were having fun. That joker laugh is terrible. (But they commit with the costumes).
Matthias Versluis/Juulia Turkkila (FIN) - Skating to Breathe you in dreams, river. Ok I really liked that character step. The first part was very pretty.. it felt like ballroom dancing on ice.
Maksym Nikitin/Oleksandra Nazarova (UKR) Skating to Hit the Road Jack. They have a lot of cool lifts.
Fillip Taschler/Natalie Taschlerova (CZE) - Skating to Music Dance2Night. Now these are some costumes! I liked the faster parts. The slower section used for the midnight blues really felt like a "well if we have to" section. That stuffed elephant!

#worlds2022 #montpellier #occitanie #championatsdumonde #patinageartistique #worldchampionships #iceradio #figureskating #isu #mars2022 #synerglace #patinagemagazine

I usually deeply dislike 1944 by Jamala.
I can say that Nazarova and Nikitin just changed my mind. It was beautiful.
It's the first time I have tears in my eyes watching Rythm Dance.
