--
The first thing you sense on coming to is the sensation that your shoulder is being ripped from its socket. The next is the way it and your other arm are wrenched behind you, bound together. Cold metal bites into your back and your head, which throbs.
Opening your eyes, you swallow down a hysterical panic.
The cell is long and narrow. You’re chained on a longer side on which, as you glance left and right, more than a dozen bindings for beings of all sizes line the wall. The opposite wall is mere feet in front of you, also lined with restraints. Cables dangle from the ceiling and spark dangerously close to puddles of water across the floor. You can’t see a door and when you look up, there’s just a metal grate lining the ceiling.
You sit shivering for a while before some degree of your wits return.
You’re alone in here, which you take as a small mercy. You edge your feet back, trying to keep them away from the sodden sections of floor. You push and lurch until you can stand upright. The movement rips at your shoulder and you have to fight back the urge to start sobbing.
Gingerly, you test how tight your bindings are and find you’re able to flex your wrists back and forth, feeling the tension loosen just a little. Hmmm, if you rotate the left counter-clockwise against the right, it’ll— but even that sends jolts of agony rippling up your arms. You clench your teeth, wincing through the pain. For some reason, your instincts are telling you that it’s a good idea to stay quiet.
Not a lot of options. Just try something.
You remember an old fighting teacher you had back ho— back at the Estate. He claimed he could block pain receptors by meditating. Seemed wild to you, but he’d taught you the basics and maybe if you try it you can twist out of these restraints. What you’ll do after that, you’ll think about then. You’re just casting back to those lessons, digging into the recesses of memory, when your mind is whited out by a momentary vision so indescribable and impossible, you let out a cry of astonishment, a gasp of shock.
In an instant, it’s gone.
Gods, was that? Are they--?
The cell comes back into focus and a shadow falls across you from above.
‘Ah, she’s awake,’ a voice overhead. ‘Good, good. Hello there.’
It’s a soft and lilting voice, but sickly.
‘She’s a pretty one, my,’ he speaks, apparently to someone else.
Still short of breath, reeling from what you think you just saw, you tip your head up to try to see your imprisoner. A beady set of eyes is above you, glaring down. They sit in a round face, rimmed with horns and sporting a toothy sneer that crawls across your nervous system.
‘Who knew such a pretty thing could do so much damage to my little traction systems, hmmm?’
You’re so overwhelmed by pain and fear, it takes several moments for what he’s saying to sink in. Oh, fuck?
‘It was you, wasn’t it?’ he questions. Through the blood rushing in your ears, you hear boots shuffling on the other side of the wall you’re chained to. ‘No way that crazy bounty hunter would have been able to crack my codes.’
The eyes disappear from above the grate and for a few moments there’s only thuds and echoes reverberating around your prison.
Then, the whole room slides sideways and you’re nauseated with disorientation. It’s when your limbs scream in protest that you realise you’re what’s moving. The panel you’re chained against has spun 180 to present your shuddering figure to the gathered company.
‘And now I get to crack you,’ Cephlate says, a twisted face of fury boring into you.
Somehow this room is even more terrifying than what’s now behind you. Because that’s definitely a carbon freeze unit taking up the bulk of the space. The beady eyed warlord and three goons stand between you and it.
You utter the first thing that comes to you, an exclamation of disbelief, ‘How--?’
He steps forward and backhands you.
‘Tsk, naïve girl,’ he intones. ‘I own this treasury, you know? I own this fucking sector. And I own that upstart ex of yours. He doesn’t know, of course. But how do you think he acquired something so valuable as that ship holo? How do you think he learned of the significance of that beskar on board? And came to be in the cantina that day?’
He leans back and lifts a fleshy brow at you in an ‘it was all me’ type of expression.
‘Just pieces on a dejarik board,’ he sighs. ‘I was after that Mando of yours, of course. The New Republic makes most space too hot for me nowadays, so I couldn’t go to him. So why not just make him come to me?’
He claps his palms together. ‘It’s sad those idiots let him escape, but… Do you think he’ll come back for you? I sure hope so. Although…’ his eyes rake over you, ‘maybe not for a little while, hm?’
He steps close and raises a hand again. But this time he takes your chin and gently tilts you side to side, appraising.
You know what comes next. They always try it.
He leans in close, dry lips brushing your ear, and speaks.
He’s only a few words in when something inside you roars to life.
Feeling a wild fury you don’t know or understand, in that moment you use the only means of fight you have. You lean forward, bare your teeth, and sink them as hard as you can into the soft flesh of his exposed neck. Your jaw strains and everything hurts – but you’re surging, raging, burning up. Skin gives way and hot, pulsing liquid gushes into your mouth.
He shrieks and pulls away. You hold on to what’s gripped in your teeth and the sounds of it send you manic. Blood sprays your unhinged face as you spit and snarl.
He paws a hand to his ruined neck.
‘Fuck this little animal,’ he spits. ‘Fine! I’ll deal with her later.’ He whirls from you, stumbling away. He waves a hand behind him, ‘Throw her in the freeze, boys.’
Six hands drag at you. The binds on your arms give way and your dislocated shoulder swings wildly about. You finally scream, unable to bear the excruciating sensations wracking your body any longer. It’s met with laughter and the feeling of being lifted whole into the air.
You’re not thinking at all, mind blank with pain and terror, but your body still has its instincts and muscle memory. So it tries to fight, twisting and thrashing against what holds you. You might land a kick somewhere significant because you hear an angry grunt, then a curse, then a brand new and overwhelming pain in your side.
Head lolling, you look down to catch the blade leaving your belly, a gush of blood pouring onto the floor.
That’s the last thing you see. You’re losing consciousness, giving up, when you feel yourself dumped into a – is this a coffin? Then a hiss and a burning ice crawls up your limbs. Then you feel nothing.
--
The Crest coasts through an inky black. Din, with Grogu now in his lap, kills the engine and works to keep his voice calm.
‘Grogu,’ he says. The child looks over his ear at him. ‘You know how you, how you learned to sense me? Find me in the essence, or energy, or whatever?’
‘Heh,’ the kid says, already looking at the charts.
‘Yes, exactly. You get it.’ Din lets himself feel hope for the first time since he saw you kick that pod hatch closed from the wrong side.
‘Can you reach out, out there,’ a glance to the black, ‘and find her? Tell me where she is? She’s on a ship. These are the last coordinates I have of it.’ He taps the screen.
Grogu, to his stunning credit, hums shyly but moves straight into a meditative stance. Din’s chest swells.
‘That’s it, kid. Find her for me.’
The little arms raise and begin to tremor, hovering back and forth over a presence Din can’t sense or comprehend. He just waits, and trusts. He knows this power is deeply special, and that Grogu can do things beyond explanation.
The child grunts with effort. In an instinctive move, not even sure if it would help, Din puts his hands on the little, quivering figure, trying to offer support.
After an agonisingly long moment, Grogu pops his eyes open and hops onto the console, pointing a clawed finger at the spot his father had shown him and trailing it along the screen, then giving it an urgent tap. Din leans in and starts thumbing at switches and palming levers.
‘I knew you could do it, buddy,’ he says as he pulls the child back into his lap. ‘Let’s go get her.’
Pulling the same manoeuvre to park the Crest is surprisingly straightforward. Din has total faith that the cloaking drive you’d installed after the run-in on Cephlate’s moon will hold up. Still, he leaves Grogu securely in his space, the child groggy and fatigued from such a stunning use of his powers.
Once dropped into the upper-level corridors, Din orders R5 to ready the canon protocols he’s queued. ‘Wait for my mark,’ he commands.
Instead of taking the carefully plotted path to avoid detection, Din charges into the first unit he comes across. Six are dead within minutes and the last guard flails on his stomach as Din leans a knee in his back and a vibroblade at his ear.
It’s not long before the sap is singing, ‘the prison! Eight deck! The boss he-! She’ll be in carbonite by now! Please don’t-- ’ He slams the guy’s head into the floor and surges forwards, sprinting and checking the map at the same time, finding the location.
As he nears the section of cells, he tells R5 to disengage locks and move the Crest into position. He rounds a bend, planting detonators on the walls to activate on his way back out.
Horror floods his system as he takes in the prison section. Where the fuck are you?
He has to dispatch of only one set of personnel barring his way as he clocks one door window after another. When he spots the unit, he whole bodily kicks the door aside and marches to the control panel.
The blocks of carbonite rotate one after the other until you come into view. Relief and rage tear at Din’s insides as he takes you in. Your hands seem to be pressed into your left side, elbows locked to your ribcage. Your face is a rictus of pain, but your eyes are closed – that’s a small mercy.
He checks the read-out – you’ve been in there only a few hours. Only. Din’s stomach is roiling. He thumps the release pan.
The machine disengages your frame and the room fills with a wretched vapour, obscuring his vision of you for a moment, but he holds his arms out ready. When the process ends, your knees buckle and you collapse into Din’s embrace, limp and unresponsive. He can see your heart beating though and, as you start to shake violently, he can reassure himself you are in fact alive.
But as he lays you down to check your condition, he gives a shout of alarm.
Blood is everywhere.
He focuses on the gash at your side and tries not to think about the dried blood covering your face. It doesn’t seem like you’re injured there and the implications of that makes Din’s blood run cold.
Throwing the medical pack off his shoulder, he tears through the contents for a sterile patch, pushing the shredded hole in your tunic aside to lay the dressing as best he can over the wound. It hisses and puckers the surrounding skin as it creates a pressurised seal to staunch the flow.
That’ll have to do for now. He looks over the rest of you. Your left shoulder is sitting low and outside the joint and he rechecks your face for any injuries. Your jaw may be bruised, and the taser’s burn mark is bright and blistered, but he’s confident you’re not bleeding anywhere else.
Time to move.
‘R5,’ he growls. ‘Begin the barrage.’
The treasury shudders as the Crest’s thermal railguns lay into the landing bay where Cephlate’s ship is docked. R5 will empty the energy cells then break vicinity and jump. Distraction and revenge, for now.
With your injured shoulder tucked into his chest and an arm looped under your knees, both blasters pointed in front of him, Din swears on his creed and clan that every fucker he crosses paths with is going to meet a swift end.
The escape vessel settles on the grass and gives a final grinding whir as the landing lock engages. A huge boot kicks the hatch door open, bashing it into the side. The Mandalorian lunges from the pod with your unconscious form in his arms. He strides to his ship, barking at R5 to drop the doors.
Once he has you laid out on the cabin’s low bed, he pulls every med pack to hand from the rack.
He looks you over to take stock of each hurt. The plaster seal is working on your stab wound, no blood leaking out or sign of infection. Nothing for the burn on your neck but salve and time.
Shoulder first then.
Din sets to work.

Upgrading to a Billet Flywheel for Predator 212 Non-Hemi: Benefits and Installation
When it comes to enhancing the performance and safety of your Predator 212 non-hemi engine, upgrading to a billet flywheel is a crucial modification. Billet flywheels are crafted from a single piece of high-grade aluminum, offering superior strength, improved performance, and increased safety compared to stock flywheels. This article explores the benefits of using a billet flywheel for Predator 212 non hemi engine and provides essential tips for installation.
Tumblr media
Key Benefits of a Billet Flywheel for Predator 212 Non-Hemi
Enhanced Engine Performance
One of the primary advantages of a billet flywheel is its impact on engine performance. Billet flywheels are significantly lighter than their cast counterparts, which reduces rotational mass. This reduction allows the engine to rev faster and deliver more responsive acceleration. For performance enthusiasts, this means quicker throttle response and improved overall engine efficiency.
Increased Durability and Strength
Billet flywheels are known for their exceptional durability. The manufacturing process involves precision machining from a solid block of aluminum, resulting in a flywheel that can withstand higher stress and RPMs without deforming or cracking. This strength is particularly beneficial for high-performance applications where the engine is subjected to extreme conditions.
Improved Safety
Safety is a paramount concern when upgrading engine components, and billet flywheels excel in this area. Stock cast flywheels can fail under high stress, potentially causing catastrophic damage to the engine and posing a risk to the operator. Billet flywheels, with their superior strength and resistance to failure, provide a safer alternative for high-RPM and high-stress environments.
Better Heat Dissipation
The aluminum construction of billet flywheels also aids in better heat dissipation compared to cast iron flywheels. This improved thermal management helps maintain optimal engine temperatures, reducing the risk of overheating and prolonging the life of the engine components. Installation Tips for a Billet Flywheel on Predator 212 Non-Hemi
Gather Necessary Tools and Materials
Before starting the installation, ensure you have all the required tools and materials. This includes a torque wrench, socket set, flywheel puller, and the new billet flywheel. Having everything on hand will streamline the process and reduce the risk of errors.
Prepare the Engine
Begin by disconnecting the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Next, drain the oil from the engine to avoid any spills during the installation. Place the engine on a stable work surface where you have ample room to maneuver.
Remove the Stock Flywheel
Using a socket set, remove the nut securing the stock flywheel. Once the nut is removed, use a flywheel puller to carefully detach the flywheel from the crankshaft. Be cautious during this step to avoid damaging the crankshaft or other components.
Install the Billet Flywheel
Position the billet flywheel onto the crankshaft, ensuring it is seated correctly. Secure it in place with the provided nut, and use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to the manufacturer’s specified torque setting. Proper torque is crucial to ensure the flywheel functions correctly and safely.
Reassemble the Engine
Once the billet flywheel is installed, reassemble any parts you removed during the process, such as the engine cover and spark plug wire. Refill the engine with oil, if necessary, and perform a final check to ensure everything is properly secured and in place.
Test the Engine
After completing the installation, start the engine and perform a few test runs to verify that the flywheel is functioning correctly. Pay attention to any unusual noises or vibrations, which could indicate an issue with the installation.

The convenience of Allen Wrenches in Everyday Life
An Allen wrench or hex wrench includes a hexagonal shape and can be utilized with care, mostly used in plumbing and electrical applications. They're intended to give 360° of rotation at points up to 35°. Allen wrenches with T-molded handles can give expanded turning force and increasingly comfortable grips. Non-sparking and non-magnetic Allen wrenches can be useful in lethal environments. The head of a Torx key looks like a 6-point star and is mostly used in computers and other electronics.
Tumblr media
Structure& Basic Utility
The Allen wrench itself is a little L-molded wrench with six sides. If you inspect a cross-section of the Allen wrench, it would appear like a hexagon. Since Allen wrench has such a particular shape, it can only be used with items that are specially designed for it. If you've ever bought furniture and you had to assemble yourself, the manufacturer likely includes an Allen wrench for you to use when you have to assemble it.
In addition to putting together furniture, the Allen wrench is often utilized for bicycle fixes. The surprising shape, in addition to the way that the Allen wrench is little, light and equipped for getting into hard-to-reach places in a bicycle, makes it especially valuable for cyclists to carry with them as they ride.
Tumblr media
Size
Each key is intended to be utilized with screws of a particular size, with rather tight tolerance.Allen wrench is commonly sold in kits, known as Allen key set or Allen wrench set. It includes half a dozen or more keys of different sizes. Usually, the length of Allen wrenches increases with the size of the socket, but not necessarily in direct proportion.
Drill bits Fastening
Allen wrenches are also used to fasten drill bits. Every drill machine comes with an Allen wrench of its specific size. Thus, everything from automobiles to different electronics relies on Allen wrenches for basic fixes. Several machines and power tools also require Allen wrenches for adjusting their positioning.
Flat Head Allen Wrench
Most Allen wrenches feature the conventional flat ends as they are suitable for common uses. The flat end allows the key to fit closely inside the screw head or a nut. Thus, when applying a lot of force to the wrench, you should always use one of these types of wrenches.
Ball Head Allen Wrench
Ball-head Allen wrenches are designed for when the user needs to fasten a nut at a particular angle. Most ball head Allen wrenches work within 25 degrees of the point, which makes them ideal for tight spaces. You can use a ball-head Allen wrench for everyday use
Short Arm Allen Wrench
Generally, the vertical length of Allen wrench is always longer than the horizontal length. The long-arm and short-arm modifiers tell us the degree of the difference in length. short arm hex keys are mostly about50% longer on the vertical side as compared tothe horizontal side.
Long Arm Allen Wrench
For long arm hex keys, they are typically at least two times longer in the vertical direction than they are in the horizontal direction.
Variety of Allen wrenches are available at Albany County Fasteners.

Battle Angel AU, Cyborg Bounty Hunter Bokuto
Rating: T
Pairing: Bokuto Koutarou/Kuroo Tetsurou
Summary:
Kuroo shrugs, grabbing hold of Bokuto’s ruined hand. It’s still hanging on to the wrist like an errant grape and Kuroo plucks it off with a small tug. He pats Bokuto’s cheek with his own fingers. “Someone is always maimed or dying around here, it’s not like this is anything new.” he says matter-of-factly.
In their lines of work, they know that better than anyone but still, Bokuto’s eyes drop down to his lap, the line of his mouth flattening out into a solemn line. It’s been almost a year now, almost a year since Bokuto came to the city, a stranger delivered to a strange place, too violent and cruel. Kuroo tamps down a smile as he thinks back to salvaging that wreck of a body from the scrap yard, finding the brain inside still alive and perfectly preserved by the most advanced core he’d ever seen in a cyborg and then shortly after, wondering how a heart powered by an antimatter micro reactor can be as delicate as glass.
================================
Kenma finds him in the morning, half buried in strays and yesterday’s garbage. Bokuto wakes to the clicking of his tongue, calling to the  cats nosing at the piles of trash and prodding for scraps. Kenma doesn’t notice him at first, tired eyes skimming over the top half of a face peeking out at him from under a pile of black bags before doing a double take and squinting, as if trying to make sure if Bokuto is real or just a fresh, post-dawn hallucination.
Bokuto manages a weak grin. He tries for a wave too, managing after a lot of effort to lift one mangled hand. It barely manages a twitch, warped metal and fried circuits giving a wheezing, alarming creak before what’s left of his palm breaks off at the wrist and almost falls off, barely hanging on to his arm by a few sturdy cables.
Kenma looks rumpled and exhausted, pale gray scrubs still stained with blood. Going by the level of disarray his hair is in and the dark circles under his eyes, he hasn’t slept. Again. Still though, one look at Bokuto’s arm has the light of fresh annoyance flooding into his face. He gives Bokuto a quick once over, tawny eyes instantly sharp and alert. He isn’t wearing a shirt so it’s easy for Kenma to zero in on Bokuto’s shoulder, assessing the torn wires poking out of the chasm between his shoulder socket and his arm with a deep frown. The joint is technically not snapped in two but just barely. He heaves out a sigh.
“Rough night?”
“The worst.” Bokuto says with an exaggerated nod, nudging a kitten away with his other hand when it started to nibble curiously at some exposed wires on his shoulder. It isn’t deterred, mewling in protest. It sniffs curiously at the synthetic skin hanging in tatters around the gouge it was exploring earlier before sticking its entire head in it.
Bokuto yelps and tries to shake the kitten off, sending startled cats and random pieces of garbage flying. His flailing only succeeds in pushing the kitten into his shoulder socket and Kenma smacks him squarely on the head, swooping in and extricating the tiny kitten from Bokuto’s shoulder before it can slip further.
“Stop that, you could’ve hurt the cat.”
“I was trying not to!” Bokuto protested. “I was trying to get it out, there’s probably broken glass in there.”
Kenma quirks an eyebrow. “Probably?”
Bokuto shrugs as best he could with only one shoulder attached to his body and gestures  impassively at the very broken cybernetic one. He knows he fell through someone’s window and got stabbed with some broken glass at least once but if its still there, “I can’t feel it.”
Kenma hums. “I hope the bounty was worth the patch up job you’ve probably bought us this morning.” he says, bending down to set the kitten and the bowl of leftovers down on the curb.
He extends one hand to Bokuto when he’s done and maybe someone should’ve recognized that it’s a bad idea, but since Kenma is too tired to think and Bokuto rarely does, it’s truly inevitable that they both go tumbling back into the trash when Bokuto, all 200 pounds of metal and muscle of him, grabs Kenma’s hand and tries to heave himself up.
They knock over a garbage can and the loud clanging it makes as it hits the ground and rolls around in a half circle before crashing against the building behind them is loud enough to send someone barrelling through the front door in alarm, a wrench clutched in one hand.
“Kenma, what in the hell-??”
Kuroo stops when he sees them, blinking in surprise.
“The garbage is aggressive this morning Kuroo.” Kenma mumbles, face half squished against Bokuto’s chest.
Kuroo looks like he hasn’t slept either, wild hair barely contained by the red bandana tied over it and rumpled overalls stained with blood and scorch marks. Looks like Bokuto isn’t the only one who had a rough night.
“So it is.” Kuroo smirks, hooking his wrench back to his belt and crossing his arms over his chest. “Leave it there, it’s hideous.”
“Hey!” Bokuto starts but before he can say anything else, Kenma  climbs to his feet, dislodging everything that’s been shielding Bokuto from view and uncovering the full scope of the damage. His torso is mostly in one piece although big chunks of skin have been ripped off, leaving sparking wires and ruined cybernetics exposed. The mechanical carnage spans from Bokuto’s shoulder to almost all the way down to his waist.
Kuroo’s eyebrows slowly climb up to his forehead and nods down at the mess Bokuto’s made of himself. “Hideous. Did you fight a garbage disposal?”
“Close.” Bokuto says, sitting up and planting his flesh hand on the ground. “He had a shreddy thingie in his chest. Bunch of those circle...ish blades, the spiky ones?”
He manages to push himself up to a crouch with just one side of his body and when he wobbles dangerously, he grabs on to Kenma’s leg.
“Mmm.” Kuroo hums thoughtfully. “Buzzsaw Boobs.”
Bokuto lights up with a grin and points at him. “Buzzsaw Boobs!” He agrees. He tries to snap his fingers too for emphasis, forgetting that his dominant hand is barely attached to his body. The metal joints somehow manage to still move and even barely slide together but still, his middle finger breaks off completely and drops to the floor with a clang. The three of them just stare at it for a moment before Kuroo sighs and bends down to hoist him up.
“Alright shreddy, let’s get you inside before you lose any more parts.”
With some effort on everyone’s part, they manage to get Bokuto inside without causing any further damage. A metallic clicking snaps through the air every time he takes a step  so the process was slow going and a little nerve-wracking but with an arm around Kenma and Kuroo’s shoulders, they get him to Kuroo’s workstation and safely down onto the examination table.
The clinic is empty save for the three of them. The cot near the front door is conspicuously stripped of bedding, thin grey mattress marked with fresh stains. As dirty as it is, they still stand out; dark and blotchy, the color of wet rust. Bokuto finds himself staring at them in morbid fascination as Kuroo and Kenma bustle around him, murmuring to each other as they go. He wonders how long it took for the red to fade, wonders if he knew the answer to that once upon a time.
“We got a live one yesterday. He’s still live, just in case you were wondering.”
Kuroo tells him, settling down beside the table and immediately getting to work on Bukuto’s shoulder. Bokuto looks away from the cot to tilt his head at him curiously.
“What happened?”
“Good’ole black market theft.” Kuroo says, reaching into Bokuto’s shoulder with one hand. “Some snatchers cut open the poor kid’s legs and stole a bunch of bones. He was lucky they weren’t after his spine.” Kuroo grunts as he twists something loose and pops Bokuto’s ruined arm out from his shoulder socket with his bare hands. He whistles.
“Please tell me you collected at least. I’m surprised this was still on there.” Kuroo says, tapping the arm against Bokuto’s shoulder. “So many things are missing here I probably could’ve taken it off if I just pulled hard enough.”
“What happened to the kid? Is he alright?”  Bokuto asks, brows furrowed in a deep frown. He barely seems to have heard what Kuroo said about his arm. Kuroo stares at him before shaking his head with a soft chuckle.
“You’re scrap metal and you’re more worried about someone you don’t even know.”
“I’m a hunter-warrior, isn’t it kind my job to worry about people?”
Kuroo wants to tell him that it really isn’t but he opts to simply raise his brows in silence. Still though, Bokuto huffs at the non-answer and frowns at him when Kuroo reaches down and slides out the drawer of temporary spares he keeps under the table.
“I got enough credits to pay for the patch up and maybe even take you out to a nice date after, to answer your question.” Bokuto says, frown temporarily forgotten as he puffs up his chest and looks very proud for someone who barely dragged himself to their door and passed out in the garbage.
Kuroo gives him an indulgent smile anyway, withholding comment once again. He leans in close to get a good, long look at Bokuto’s damaged torso and hums thoughtfully. “You’d have to let me sleep first. Your torso’s pretty fucked up but fixable but we’re probably looking at a total rebuild for the arm.”
Bokuto winces. “Sorry.”
“The kid is fine, pumped to the eyeballs with painkillers and high as a fucking kite but he’s stable, was even conscious when we got him settled down in the infirmary. To answer your question.” Kuroo parrots, leaning over to strap the prosthetic arm to Bokuto’s shoulder.
“Kenma’s checking on him right now. I think.” He continues, looking over his own shoulder at the door leading to their small isolation ward for their more sensitive cases. “Either that or he’s passed out in a corner somewhere.”
As if summoned, Kenma walks through the door looking still exhausted, a little harried but ultimately awake.
“Did the shrimp die while we weren’t looking?” Kuroo asks.
“Fading in and out. ” Kenma says. “He asked me if I was an angel.” Only after the words are out of his mouth does he look bewildered. The frown on his face says he’s wondering if maybe he hallucinated what he just said.
If the kid had died, Kuroo’s laugh would’ve been loud enough to wake him up. It’s a testament to how tired he is that Kenma leaps at the sound, dropping the bowl of bloodied rags and used syringes he was holding. He glares.
Kuroo has the decency to look sorry, even if his brand of sorry looks really smirk-y.
“That kid’s going to be just fine, I can feel it. Go to bed, I’ll finish up here.”
Kenma looks unsure. He lingers for a second, unmoving until Kuroo shoo-s him, complete with two handed flick of his fingers and sound effect. Appropriately, Kenma looks like an unimpressed cat but he doesn’t argue. He glances between them meaningfully and without another word, turns and disappears to the back of the clinic, presumably to very quickly clean up and pass out on the closest available surface.
After he’s gone, Kuroo turns back to him with a grin. “Right then, time to get you naked and wet.”
============================
Ten minutes later, Bokuto finds himself sitting buck-ass nude on cold tile, being sprayed down with a power hose strong enough to strip skin off of human flesh. He’s curled up in the smallest ball he can fold himself into with Kuroo’s long, pointy limbs caging him in on all sides. Something that, even with half his nerve receptors fried, is far from comfortable.
There’s barely any space in the stall wedged in the back corner of Kuroo’s workstation. The thing is barely two walls put up around the smallest corner of the room. Kuroo usually uses it to hose down parts so that being said, Kuroo basically has to be right on top of him in a very un-sexy way to wash the extra dirt and stench he accumulated in the trash.
“This is way less fun than it sounded.”  he mumbles as Kuroo upends a bucket of lukewarm soap water over his shoulders and immediately follows it up with another blast from the power hose.
“I mean, I could’ve just taken out the bleach and dumped it all over you. So this is slightly more sexy, I would argue.”  Kuroo replies easily. “If you just made it a few more feet and avoided the garbage, you wouldn’t be in this situation. Duck.”
Bokuto’s reply is muffled into his knees as Kuroo rinses off the back of his neck. “What can I say? The garbage is my home.”
That earns him a chortle and Bokuto smiles in turn, turning his head a little to try and peek back at Kuroo from his knees.
“Hey, Tetsurou?”
At the mention of his first name, Kuroo pauses in picking out the smaller bits of debris out of the tears along Bokuto’s side and looks to him curiously.
“Why did you pull me out of the scrapyard?”
Kuroo just stares at him for a bit, face carefully blank. He seems to be thoroughly considering the question, trying to parse it down to the last shred of meaning. Then, as if remembering it’s Bokuto he’s talking to, he smiles, shrugs.
“Isn’t it kind of my job to worry about people?” he reaches over to push Bokuto’s soaked bangs back from his eyes. “Also, Iwaizumi was pushing three years with Oikawa at that point. I figured if he can find a quality relationship in the garbage, so can I.”
They both giggle as Kuroo straightens up to his full height and Bokuto waits until he backs up halfway out of the stall to unfurl and pull himself up to his feet before speaking.
“I’m glad you did. Pull me from the scraps and find a quality boyfriend, I mean.”
Kuroo tilts his head at him curiously. “Me too obviously but what brought this on all of a sudden?”
Knowing how awkwardly Kuroo handles impromptu sappy declarations of emotion, no matter how sincere, Bokuto is pretty sure saying things like “Your face is the first thing I remember seeing but I doubt that has anything to do with the fact that you were the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen and I feel like I should always tell you” wouldn’t be received as well as he would like it to be so he just shrugs.
“I was just a brain without anything in it. Everything I have now is because of you.”
Kuroo almost manages to suppress his reaction to that. Almost.
“I mean, you didn’t even know me. Hell, I didn’t even know me and you built me a whole body and gave me a place to stay. I could’ve been a psycho for all we knew...I don’t know, just. It was scary not knowing anything but I knew that you were kind and that’s pretty awesome. Thank you... and I love you, is I guess what I’m trying to say.”
Kuroo doesn’t say anything for several long seconds.
“Are you dying?”
“Wh- no?? Wouldn’t you know that better than me?”
“Am I dying?”
Bokuto tries not to deflate. “Kurooooo, come on. I was trying to be romantic here.”
“How is the pressure feedback and texture sensors on your face?”
“Fine? I can definitely feel the water and-”
-and he can definitely feel Kuroo’s mouth on his, Kuroo’s rough fingers cradling the back of his neck. Bokuto’s eyes close of their own accord and his hands come up to pull Kuroo closer, sighing into the kiss as he tilts his head to slide their lips together more firmly.
Kuroo pulls away first with a low breathless chuckle. “You’re so weird. Cute, but weird.”
“You’re weird.” Bokuto shoots back eloquently, reaching up to wind his arms around Kuroo’s neck and pressing closer so they’re standing chest to chest with barely any space between their bodies.
“It’s fine, I had to change out of these anyway.” Kuroo says, glancing down at all the water seeping into his clothes and making absolutely no move to pull away.
“Does it bother you? That I don’t know who I was?”
Kuroo’s eyes slowly make their way back up to Bokuto’s face at the somber question. He doesn’t ask about it this time, used to Bokuto’s sudden mood swings and especially familiar with this mood in particular. He wonders what snippets he remembered this time, if they were as violent and grim as what little else he’s managed to get back.
“No. It doesn’t.”
Whoever Bokuto was is lost to the literal centuries, possibly more. He may never be that person again. He doesn’t tell Bokuto this, what he does say is what matters.
“I only know you now and I’ll only know who you’ll be from here. That’s more than enough for me.” he murmurs, pressing their foreheads together. “You’re the best thing I ever pulled out of the trash.”
Bokuto snorts and rears back a bit to butt their heads together. “You’re awful.”
Kuroo knows that this isn’t the last time they’re going to have this conversation but for now, Bokuto seems content to let the subject drop.
“I saw someone die yesterday.” Bokuto offers and whether he meant in real life or in the dark, murky corners of his own mind, Kuroo doesn’t know nor does he ask.
“I saw someone live yesterday.” Kuroo rests a hand on Bokuto’s chest. “And maybe you didn’t see them but a lot of other people lived yesterday too.” He smirks. “You took Buzzsaw Boobs to the chest so they don’t have to.”
Bokuto laughs but though the sound isn’t as jubilant as it usually is, the sigh he buries muffles into Kuroo’s neck sounds relieved.
“I’m tired. Lets go to bed.”
Kuroo kisses his temple. “Yeah. Let’s.”

Best Lawn Mower Blades HandyGuyPros
Just like dull scissors on hair, worn-down lawn mower blades will damage the ends of your grass. If you want your lawn to keep looking its best, you need to use sharp blades. But not all of them are top quality. We’ll review the best lawn mower blades for some of the most popular mowers on the market.
How to tell when it’s time to sharpen or replace blades
How can you tell when it’s time to change lawn mower blades? Here are a few tips:
Most homeowners will want to sharpen their mower’s blades about once every couple of months during the prime mowing season.
If a blade has dents, bends, or nicks, change it before mowing. A damaged blade is dangerous to you, your mower, and your lawn.
After you mow the grass, inspect it. Is the cut uneven or ragged? Did you have to make several passes to make it look right? Are the tips ragged or torn? You probably have a dull blade.
While we’re covering replacement lawn mower blades in this article, you can typically sharpen your original blade several times before it wears too thin and must be replaced. Many owners buy an extra set to sharpen and have on hand. Then all they have to do is swap if there’s a problem.
How to replace lawn mower blades successfully
If you’ve not replaced your own mower blades before, it’s pretty easy to do. It might save you some money to try it at home. But please do follow a few safety steps.
Be safe when changing blades
DISCONNECT THE SPARK PLUG. Yes, it’s in all caps because it’s that important. You really don’t want your mower to start up by accident while you’re dealing with the blade.
Wear gloves. Choose a nice sturdy pair. You want those hands for other activities, right?
Block the blade. Use a piece of wood to stop the blade from turning while you loosen the bolts.
Ten easy stops to change a mower blade
Okay, you’ve seen the public safety announcement. Now here are ten easy steps to changing your mower blade.
Consult your owner manual for how they recommend changing a blade.
Disconnect the spark plug.
Empty fuel. This makes the mower lighter and you have less chance of spilling it over essential things like the air filter.
When you lift or tilt the mower, tip it so that the fuel and oil tanks do not spill over the carburetor. Models differ, so this may mean leaning it on its side or laying it down back towards the handle.
If it’s a riding mower, use a lift, a ramp, or a jack that’s made for that kind of machinery.
Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolt holding the blade. Notice which way the blade is positioned. (Take a photo with your phone to consult later.)
Line up any washers or nuts and mount the new blade in the correct direction. This is the trickiest part because you need to tighten it without over-tightening. Too much torque may mean it will warp or vibrate. Nothing should wobble when you’re done.
Put the mower back down on its wheels and go take a break while the oil or fuel trickle back into their proper places (just in case). Give it about a half hour.
Check the air filter to make sure it didn’t get wet. Then check fluids, fill the gas tank, and attach the spark plug.
Start it up—does it seem okay? Test mow an area. If all goes well, you’re good to mow.
That doesn’t sound too bad, does it? Now let’s look at the best blades for walk behind lawn mowers.
Walk Behind Lawn Mower Blades
We’ll begin by reviewing the top lawn mower blades in order of blade length.
GreenWorks 29512 Replacement Lawn Mower Blade, 16-Inch
Greenworks makes electric corded and cordless mowers that are very popular sellers these days. This blade is OEM (original equipment from the manufacturer) which means it is the same as the one that came on your Greenworks mower if you have the 25142 or the 25322. You may also be able to mount this blade on other 16-inch mowers from other companies like Kobalt or Ryobi. This is a steel blade made for general-purpose bagging and discharging.
GreenWorks 29172 20-Inch Replacement Lawn Mower Blade
Similar to the blade above, this is an OEM part made from heat-treated steel. It’s 20-inches long and are made for Greenworks mowers 25022 and 25222. These blades are best for general-purpose mowing, not mulching. You’ll need a 15mm socket wrench to remove your old blade and install this one.
Maxpower 331040 Universal Replacement Lawn Mower Blade, 20-Inch
Maxpower has a lineup of non-OEM replacement blades that fit a wide variety of mowers from several manufacturers. This 20-inch-long blade is 2.25 inches wide and is made for bagging and discharging. It has a 1-inch center hole and comes with a selection of washers so that you can adapt it to your mower.
The reducing washers are in these sizes: 3/8-inch, 7/8-inch, 9/16-inch, 5/8-inch and 13/16-inch. The blade should fit on models made by AYP, MTD, Murray, Sears, Snapper, and on some Lawn Boys. Check with the vendor to make sure they will fit your model if it’s not listed on the page.
MaxPower 331981S 21-Inch Universal Gold Metal Mulching Lawn Mower Blade
If you have a 21-inch mower and you like to mulch, check out this MaxPower blade. It’s commercial grade to tackle tough mulching jobs with both grass and leaves. The blade is shaped with gator teeth to give better lift.
It has a 1-inch center hole and comes with reducing washers in these sizes: 3/8-inch, 7/16-inch, 9/16-inch, 1/2-inch, 5/8-inch, and 13/16-inch.
Honda Genuine Lawn Mower Blades: 72511-VH7-000 & 72531-VH7-000 for HRX217, HRX217(K1-K4)
If you have a 21-inch Honda mower in the HRX217 or the HRR216 series, chances are that these replacement blades made by Honda will fit. These are part of the two-blade Micro-Cut system. You’ll need to install both of them at once to replace your old set.
These rugged blades will endure sharpening several times before they need to be replaced. They are great for both regular mowing and mulching.
Husqvarna 532406713 22-Inch Lawn Mower Blade for Husqvarna, Poulan, Roper, Craftsman, Weed Eater
Husqvarna is the company that owns Poulan so this 22-inch replacement blade works on both brands of mowers. It will also fit many Craftsman, Roper, and Weed Eater machines.
This is an OEM part backed by a 1-year warranty. It measures 2.25-inches wide by 22 inches long and comes pre-sharpened and ready to use.
MaxPower 331749X Commercial Mulching Blade for 22″ Cut Poulan/Craftsman/Husqvarna
Here is another commercial-grade mulching blade from MaxPower. It’s made for 22-inch mowers from Husqvarna, Poulan, and Craftsman. Users that are pleased with this replacement have said that it is less expensive and works better than OEM blades.
Riding Lawn Mower Blades
If you have a riding mower or a lawn tractor, you still need to sharpen and replace blades. Many times these machines have dual or triple blades that must all be replaced at once. Here are the top ones to use.
Stens 340-066 PK2 Mulching Blade Set of 2
If you have a 42-inch deck on your Poulan, Poulan Pro, AYP, or Craftsman mower, you may appreciate this set of two blades from Stens. They are 21-inches long, 2.24 inches wide, and 0.134-inch thick. They have a 5-point center hole for installation.
Don’t be fooled by the painted finish. They may look dull because of the protective coat, but they are sharp and ready to cut your grass right out of the package.
Mr Mower Blades 195-005 fits 42″ AYP Sears Craftsman Poulan Husqvarna
Mr Mower sells these universal mulching blades that fit on several models of riding mowers. If you have a AYP, Sears Craftsman, Husqvarna, or Poulan, they could save you money over OEM parts.
The blades are 21-inches long, 2.25-inches wide, and 0.140-inch thick with a 5-point center hole. Mr Mower points out that their dual bevel design makes for more efficient mulching.
MaxPower 561544 Blade Set for 46″ Cut MTD/Cub Cadet/Troy Bilt Replaces 942-04244/942-04290
If you’re driving a 46-inch Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, or MTD mower, take a look at these rugged blades from MaxPower. They have a 6-point center hole for easy adaptability. They measure 23-1/2-inches in length.
Rotary Blades for Craftsman/Poulan/Husqvarna
These universal replacement blades for Craftsman, Poulan, and Husqvarna 48-inch mowers are ideal for bagging and side discharge mowing, but not for mulching. They come in a set of three for rotary decks. Each blade is 16.75-inches long, 2.5-inches wide, and 0.204-inch thick.
Oregon G3 95-605-3 Gator Blades, Set of 3
Oregon makes these popular gator mulcher blades to fit 54-inch Craftsman, Poulan Pro, and Husqvarna mowers. Each blade is 18.5-inches long, 2.5-inches wide, and 0.187-inch thick. They have the distinctive “gator teeth” that give more lift for better mulching. Each blade is heat-treated for longest life.
Satisfied owners have said that these Gator Blades are thicker and heavier than the OEM parts that came with their mowers. As a a result of installing them, they have noticed that their mowers are able to pick up more debris for mulching and expel clippings farther than before.
Accessories that Make Changing Blades Easier
When it’s time to remove, sharpen, or replace your lawn mowers blades, it helps to have the right tools on hand. Here are some that will make the job easier.
Arnold Blade Removal Tool
The Arnold Blade Removal Tool is designed to help you take blades off walk behind or riding lawn mowers. It doesn’t matter if you have single or dual blade edges. It holds the blade in place while you unbolt it. Beats hunting down a stray scrap of wood to jam in the mower and much safer than having someone hold the blade for you.
Arnold Blade Balancer and Sharpener Kit
From the same company as the removal tool above comes the Blade Balancer and Sharpener Kit. If you plan to sharpen your own blades, a balancer is a big help. The balancer works for both round hole and star hole blades. You can see right off if the blade is ready to use or needs more refinement.
The sharpener disk works in most drills so you can quickly put an edge on your blades. If you have an angle grinder, you may prefer to use that instead of the sharpener. But the sharpener beats filing by hand.
Fiskars Reel Mower Maintenance Blade Kit (6215)
We haven’t said much about reel mowers because their blades typically don’t need replacing for years. But you will want to sharpen them once in a while. Use this kit from Fiskars for an easy way to touch up the edges.
Ironclad RWG2-04-L Ranchworx Glove
Protect your hands with durable, comfortable work gloves. This pair of Ranchworx from Ironclad is made from Bullwhip leather and Kevlar to keep you safe. They are machine-washable, too.
Stanley 92-824 Black Chrome and Laser Etched 69-Piece Socket Set
If you don’t have a socket wrench set, you’ll need one for blade changes. This kit from Stanley has about every size you can imagine. Even better, all the pieces are very clearly labeled in black and silver with laser etching. The case may be headed for the recycle bin, but the tools themselves are top notch.
Randoo Universal Socket Wrench/Grip ETC-200MO can Remove Different Types of Fasteners within 7-19mm
If you don’t want an entire set, check out this universal socket wrench. The hardened steel pins inside the head adapt to bolts and screws from 7mm up to 19mm in size.
How to bring a badly-cut lawn back to life
Now that you’ve seen the top products for replacing your mower blades, let’s take a look at what you can do to rescue a badly cut lawn.
First, just like a bad haircut, the lawn needs time to grow. It may take a week or two before it begins to look normal again. Once you have your new blades on your mower, your next cut will look a lot better.
In the meantime, check your grass height and your mower deck height. Are you scalping the grass? Follow landscaper recommendations for your type of lawn grass.
Fescue, Centipede, and Bluegrass 1.5 to 2.5 inches tall
Augustine 2 to 4 inches tall
Bermuda and Zoysia 0.5 to 1.5 inches tall
Second, make sure you’re watering enough but not too much. Avoid watering in the hot sunshine or in the middle of the night. Instead, try to do it in the early morning. Use a timer. To see if the grass is too dry, step on it and see how long it takes to spring up again. If it stays flat, it’s too dry. You can also sink a screwdriver into the ground to see how deep the moisture goes into the soil. If you can’t push the screwdriver in very far, your ground is probably too dry. Of course, over-watered grass will feel marshy and may yellow.
Third, try to let the grass rest while it’s recovering. Don’t walk on it or park on it. Don’t rake it unless you must.
Fourth, if you need to wait a few extra days for it to grow back to a proper height, that’s best. Try to never cut off more than one-third of its height at a time.
If you see that your grass is yellowing, this could be due to various factors. Ragged cuts can burn the tops of the grass. Over and under-watering and parasites and disease can cause yellowing, too. See if you can narrow down the problem.
Stay on top of regular blade maintenance for the best looking lawn possible.
In between blade replacements, sharpen your blades
For a five-minute overview on how it’s done, you can watch this video. Generally, you’ll want to have these tools on hand:
Socket wrench that fits the bolt on your blade
Protective gloves
A file, grinder, or blade-sharpening stone
A balancing tool
Once you remove the blade, inspect it for damage. If it’s badly nicked, dented, or bent, just replace it and recycle the old one. If it is just dull, you can put a new edge on it with a metal file, a grinding tool, or a sharpening stone. Sharpen one side, then the other, and try to do the same for both.
Use the balancer to see if you got it right. The heavier side may need some more filing.
Then mount your blade and give it a test.
In case this sounds like too much work, there are many shops that can sharpen blades for you. If you remove the blades from the mower yourself, you’ll save money on labor costs.
Conclusion
We hope this article helped you find the perfect lawn mower blades for your mower. Check back soon for more reviews on the best products!

The Greatest Show
Wow, I am really running behind on the prompts lol. Wrote this one ine a hurry, so it’s a bit abrupt.
For SpiritAssassin Week 2017 by @fyeahspiritassassin. Day 2. Prompt is: AU
The visitors to the Circus Kyberus arrive long before the show starts. Their ships rumble into the  Circus’s vast docking port, attendants waving fluorescent batons at the guests and directing them along the prismatic passageways, to the central auditorium at the heart of the massive starship.
Come and catch the Greatest Show in Space: that’s what they call the Circus Kyberus, the best galactic entertainment there is -  witness daredevil acts and simply stellar performances, excuse the pun (poor advertising from Ringmaster Chirrut Imwe).
But the lights and the glam and the death-defying acts have all but lost their novelty for the star of the show: the High Voltage Acrobat, Baze ‘Blaze’ Malbus.
He’s been here fifteen years; he’s seen the lot; he knows the tricks even though the other circus folk guard their secrets jealously. But after awhile, one trick is the same as the next, anyway. He’s seen the supersonic chariots, the strong man(droid) performances, the laser pyrotechnics, the electrothaumaturges, the rocket booster trapeze, the trained troupes of giant sklatha salamanders, extinct everywhere else in all the charted systems of the universe, except here in this galactic freakshow.
God, if there’s such a being at all, knows why he even stays. Actually, God just might be the biggest, most grandiose circus act of all.
“And now!” a voice booms from the arena. It’s Ringmaster, in his usual brilliant scarlet overcoat with a trailing bridal train and an equally scarlet top hat. He cracks his whip and sparks fly, rising in a hissing cloud to temporarily engulf him, and the audience cheers. “The star of our show, the one and only High Voltage Acrobat in the entirety of the universe, ‘Blaze’ Malbus!”
The crowd howls and stamps.
The cube-shaped electrical grid that had been assembled quietly during intermission now lights up. Brilliant blinding blue. The crystal shaped spotlights swerve around to direct the full intensity of their beams upon the vast and non-symmetrical lattice, which crackles with electricity. Techno music pounds from hidden speakers, bass rhythms amplified by the arena’s subwoofer network, so it feels like the whole starship is pulsing, a gigantic metallic heart in the vacuum of space.
Baze mounts the platform at the top. Notes the positions of the insulated handholds, the mid-air micro-coordinates where he’ll have to twist his body and avoid the wavy parallel rails. Sets a rhythm deep within his body.
But even this is dull for him. Fifteen years of this crap. He’s old. He ought to retire. Maybe go to this faraway idyll called Earth, the native world of coffee and adorable alien feline creatures known as cats.
He glances down, way down past the bottom transmission bars to where Ringmaster is standing, fire-whip still cracking up a frenzy. If he’s not careful, he’s going to set himself on fire again. And then Baze will have to stop his act and douse him with a canister of coolant. Not for the first time either.
As if sensing Baze looking down at him, Ringmaster turns his face upwards. White-blue unseeing eyes, their colour and their blindness magnified by optic irradiator implants, catch his stare. Ringmaster smiles a lazy toothed smile at him. Baze can see the indents of his dimples from high up here.
For a moment, he pauses, disoriented by the recent memory of Ringmaster in his arms, of that smug smile wiped off his face, replaced by the openness of his mouth, slack, moaning, spit curling out of the corner of his lips as Baze fucked him against the walls of his own quarters.
No, he has to concentrate. Or he’ll fry himself pretty in this grid.
He closes his eyes, tries to find that point of calm deep within.
Then he leaps off the platform, calculating all the way, every nano-second of his freefall. Fizzing strings of electricity leap off the bars and try to attach themselves to his skintight conductive suit, try to connect into the circuit of his own flesh and blood, and the electrical impulses of his own heart. Lightning pursues his trajectory through the grid. The crystal-spotlights start strobing in technicolour. It makes for a spectacular display and the crowd grows more feral with the applause and cheering.
Personally, Baze thinks that some of them would just  love  to see him slip, see what happens, never seen a man fry on electricity before.
He makes a grab for the handhold and his aim is true. Then he undoes the hasp of the swing, calculates, concentrates - and swings across the grid, spinning, eeling, until he gets to the next handhold.
Then he finishes his whole circuit, spends all his moves. It’s banal like that.
He starts to descend, when a tremendous crack comes from below.
Ringmaster has held up his hand for silence from the crowd. Baze stops and stares. Now what?
“You have all seen the magnificent Blaze! Now for the next part of his act…”
The  what  part of  what  act? No, no, fuck this shit, his act is over. What is Chirrut up to?
“..I, your humble Ringmaster and host for tonight, will now ascend to the platform and enter the grid…”
“You will not!” Baze thunders from where he’s standing. But nobody hears him.
“...and I will leap off, without a safety harness or a protective suit…”
“And fall to your death! And then I’ll have to extract your sizzling, charred meat off the rails.”
“..and our one and only High Voltage Acrobat, Blaze Malbus, will catch me…”
“What if I don’t?” Baze shouts, only to be ignored.
“...or maybe he won’t…”
The crowd howls louder than ever. It sounds like they’re baying for blood. Wishing the excitement of mishap upon the performers.
“...and if he doesn’t catch me, then well, let me thank you all for being here with us. You’ve been an exceptional crowd and I am truly honoured to have been your host for tonight.”
With that, Ringmaster sheds off that six-foot bridal train of his robes, and his scarlet overcoat and top hat, wearing only a shirt and red harem pants. He scales the ladder easily to the platform opposite Baze, on the other side of the grid.
He smiles at Baze. “I’m ready when you are.”
“Chirrut, this isn’t in the script.”
“Well, this is an unscripted performance.”
“I’m not doing it.”
“We are already in the middle of the performance, whether you like it or not. Besides, what have you got to fear? You’re going to catch me, aren’t you?”
“You,” growls Baze, “have far too much faith in me.”
Chirrut spreads his arms, tilts his blind gaze to the ceiling. “And  you need to have some faith in me. You need to have some faith in the fact that I have faith in the fact that you are going to catch me, no matter what.”
“I think if your brains get fried on the grid, it’s not going to affect your twisted sense of logic.”
Chirrut laughs. Then he straightens all the mirth out of his face and looks directly at Baze. When he speaks, there is iron in his syllables. “Catch. Me.”
Ringmaster steps off the platform. He hurtles downward, straight as a calm arrow, electricity fizzing in his wake, but never seeming to touch him.
Baze forgets to calculate. He leaps off without thinking, seizes the swing and arcs downward, a hand outstretched, sweeping through the charged air, to lock around Chirrut’s elbow. He hears Chirrut gasp as Baze nearly wrenches his arm loose of his socket, and then twists them safely around to a lower platform.
The audience nearly erupts.
Later, once the show is over, and Baze goes to Chirrut’s quarters.
“Right,” says Baze. “I quit. I’m leaving.”
“Think before you do anything,” Chirrut cautions.
“Says the Ringmaster who jumped off the platform straight into waiting death.  Why would you do something so stupid as that? Don’t you know the risks?”
Chirrut is carefully storing away his ringmaster jewelry and overcoat. “Don’t you feel different?”
“Feel what?” Baze growls.
“All this time. All these years you’ve been working here. You’ve been here far longer than I have. I know your discontent. Boredom. You’re bored with the whole act. Everything is just one shiny routine to you. So why not change things up a little? Spontaneity is the salt of life, they say.”
Baze takes a deep breath. “Just because I’m bored or discontented doesn’t mean I want you to risk  any  part of yourself for me. I can’t - I don’t know what I’d do if - if -”
He trails off.
Chirrut doesn’t say anything for a moment. Then: “I’m sorry.”
Baze is incredulous. “Did you just - say you’re sorry? That’s a first.”
“I’m sorry to have caused you much distress.” Chirrut looks thoughtful. “Though all that distress is unnecessary, if only you’d believed in the both of us a bit more.”
“I knew that apology wasn’t going to last long.”
Chirrut puts his arms around him from behind, kneads the muscles of his shoulder. “Please don’t go, Baze Malbus.”
“Say that again,” says Baze roughly.
“Please.” Chirrut unbuttons Baze’s shirt.
“Again.”
“Please. Stay.” Chirrut’s mouth presses kisses on the nape of his neck, stutters a line along his bare shoulders. "With me."
“I’ll think about it,” says Baze. Then he turns to face Chirrut and kisses him, a deep bruise of a kiss.
***
Later, Baze sits up in Chirrut’s bed. Chirrut is asleep, his body flushed and bare, his sleep unbroken and rhythmic.
Baze thinks of another show he’ll have to do the next night. And the night after that. And after.
He thinks of anchoring himself to some planet, preferably one with an ocean (that Earth place sounds so good in all the ads), where he can learn how to surf. How to fish. How to look at the stars and all the universe from a fixed point, instead of constantly swinging through space in some big flamboyant circus starship.
But then again, he’s already got his fixed point, his anchor.
He gets up from bed and gets himself a glass of water. But he stays.
