What’s Happening in Fort McMurray? (October 4)

Fort McMurray ushers in the month of October with lots of fun and worthwhile activities for the whole family. From arts to outdoor activities to a variety of entertainment shows, there is always something to everyone. Locals and guests could join in the fun no matter what age bracket you belong to.

Scuba enthusiasts are invited for the Wet and Wild Diving Society Monthly Meeting on October 2, 2019 at MacDonald Island Park/Suncor Community Leisure Centre at Shell Place, Redpoll Centre Conference Room. The meeting will take place from 7:30 PM to 9 PM, Wednesday.

The Wet and Wild Diving Society is a group of scuba divers in Fort McMurray. We encourage training and hold various events in the community such as lake clean-ups and a dive rodeo. If you are into creative stuff and crafting activities, the next one on the list would absolutely make your go out of your way and participant. Back for its third year, the Signature Mosaic Handmade Market invites everyone on the 4th of October.

The event will run until the 6th so you have several days to choose from and go to the MacDonald Island Park/Suncor Community Leisure Centre at Nexen Field House in Fort McMurray. Activities and exhibits will start at 10 AM on the opening day.

Things to Do in Fort McMurray

It’s that time of year again! Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, and as temperatures drop, often so does morale. It is no secret: Fort McMurray winters can be long and harsh, it can often lead to people feeling like they are going to spend their unforeseen future reclused in their home bundled away from -40 and lack of sunlight. A fear of boredom and anti-socialism sets in. The truth is, it doesn’t have to! Fort McMurray is chock full of amazing sports, hobbies, clubs and social gatherings for kids and adults alike. I have lived here collectively for over a decade, and I still find myself learning about awesome new activities all the time!

As a buyer’s specialist on The A-Team, I am often asked by people considering the move to Fort McMurray, and even by those who already live in and love Fort McMurray, this question: “What exactly is there to do around here?!”

In my town on a walking trail, in the trees there is an Eagles nest. The city has a 24hr camera set up, so people can watch the Eagle and her babies. I guess she was munching down on a chihuahua...hours earlier, someone called the radio station to ask if anyone has seen their chihuahua....
