A long, deep sigh.

A cheek pressed against his palm, resting his head against his elbow as he stared off into space. The library was relatively quiet around him, no other sound other than the timely flipping of the page by the two other people sitting in the almost empty, spacious room.

And of course, the sound of you humming the tune that poured through the earphones you were sporting. Hyunjin could almost swear that he would fall asleep from the tune, if it weren’t for the hard wood underneath him.

Hyunjin pouted when he noticed you completely immersed in your sociology 101 textbook. Studying to be a data analyst was hard, and while it was both yours and Hyunjin’s dream job, (instead of focusing on the plethora of books lying on the table) Hyunjin found staring at the love of his life much more interesting than analyzing any sort of data.

Sunlight poured in through the open window. It was still fairly early in the morning, and while Hyunjin hated waking up early, he was more than ready to do so the moment you called him the previous night, begging him to tag along on the pretext that “it would be boring to go alone.”

And the moment you entered the library, you picked out your books and quickly drowned yourself in them, and in less than five minutes, Hyunjin found himself the one who was “bored.”

You felt a poke at the side of your arm, startling you out of your concentration.

“Hey.”

Pulling your earphones off, you smiled at Hyunjin. “Yeah?”

“You said you’d be the one bored but now I’m the one bored.” Hyunjin humphed, folding his arms across his chest. “Remind me why I accompanied you?”

You laughed, gently pinching his cheek. “Because you’re a good boyfriend.”

Being the dramatic llama that he was, Hyunjin rolled his eyes, though the subtle smile on his lips told you otherwise. “Fine finish it soon now.” He pointed before poking your arm again. “Or I’m gonna leave you and get subway for myself.”

You gasped in fake betrayal, clutching your heart as your eyes widened. It was a known fact that Hyunjin was too smitten for you, far too caring and considerate to leave you alone in the library without breakfast. And you loved to tease him about it.

Anyways, the act faltered in two seconds the moment you giggled at him.

“You’re adorable, have I ever told you that?” You mimicked his position as you faced him, admiring how he looked at the moment. Heavily lidded eyes, messy black hair, and the sunlight from behind him almost made him look like he was glowing.

At your words, Hyunjin felt the tiniest blush creep up his cheeks as he shyly admitted. “You tell me every day!”

“Well I’m going to keep telling you that, so…” you shrugged, turning your attention back to your books as hyunjin internally groaned. The library didn’t allow use of phones either, so he couldn’t just start playing around with it to kill time.

Brushing his hair off his forehead, his eyes sparkled when a thought popped into his head, a smug look on his face. Quickly grabbing his cellphone from the back of his pocket., his fingers moved against the screen — not quick enough for the librarian to notice — but at this point, it hardly mattered. The librarian was almost asleep on his table — he must’ve not adjusted to the early hours of his job very well.

When your phone dinged — signifying the arrival of a message — Hyunjin watched intently as you picked up your phone and tapped the screen a couple of times. When you grinned widely, Hyunjin knew his message had the desired affect. In all honesty, that was Hyunjin — always looking for subtle ways to tell you he loved you, and ways to keep you smiling and happy.

You reached over to push your reading classes up your nose before turning to look at Hyunjin’s direction, raising your eyebrow playfully.

Hyunjin:  Guess what I’m wearing?

He had a similar grin on his lips as he silently coaxed you to reply, and so you did just that.

You: What? Your uniform? 🤭

Knowing Hyunjin, you knew that the answer would not be so simple, but nevertheless you curiously waited for the answer.

When the reply came in, the smile on your face turned into a wide, ear-to-ear smile, cheeks almost hurting with how widely you were grinning. You tried desperately trying not to alert anyone of what you were doing, but it was getting harder with how adorable Hyunjin was being.

Hyunjin: No, the smile you gave me. You: usdyuegwydedh 🥺🥺🥺 You: you cheesehead! 😘😤 Hyunjin: But I’m your cheesehead - ;D

Hyunjin, still staring at you was in a similar state. He admitted that watching you laugh and smile was something he could never grow tired of. He treasured that moment, and it always seemed like you lightened up the whole room with just your smile.

“Hey!” you looked at him, books totally forgotten as you stared into his eyes.

“They say the eyes are the mirror to the soul.” Hyunjin said, straightening up his posture as you eyed him confusedly. “You must have one beautiful soul.”

Your jaw dropped open at the sudden explosion of pickup lines coming from your boyfriend, rolling your eyes to the back of your head as you felt yourself grow coy at his compliment.

“Oh gosh, what’s gotten into you.” You whispered, slapping his arm slightly. Hyunjin smiled devilishly when he noticed your beaming face, feeling oddly relaxed — but then again, he was always relaxed when he looked at you.

“ On a scale from 1 to 10 you’re a 9 and I’m the 1 you need. “

You gasped, squealing as you slapped his arm yet again.

“Oh lord, your cheeseball stop being so cute my heart can’t handle this.” You pouted, and Hyunjin bit back the overwhelming desire to squish your cheeks.

He always did everything in his power to make you happy, and it never changed, even after a year of dating. The love between you was pure in every way, and you couldn’t help but feel lucky to have such a caring and lovely angel for a boyfriend.

“Come on, I need to focus now, just half an hour more?” You managed to convince him (only after giving him your traditional puppy eyes which you knew he would never be able to resist), before turning your attention back tot he book.

Twenty minutes passed. Hyunjin had found himself a book to read in the mean time, but he wasn’t the type to be patient. It wasn’t ling before he reached for his phone yet again.

When your phone dinged again, you quickly snapped your attention from where it was fixed on Hyunjin, hiding it under the table as you stealthily read the message.

Hyunjin: Can we go eat now?

You laughed to yourself, brushing hair off your forehead before replying.

You: There’s still 10 minutes left 🤭 Hyunjin: Please I’m hungry 🥺 Hyunjin: pls pls pls pls pls pls pls 🥺

You quickly looked at the watch before sighing, smiling at Hyunjin before shutting your book and stretching your arms out. You’d been there for about two hours, since your college library opened fairly early. As expected, Hyunjin let out a silent squeal of victory, quickly helping you pack up before getting out of his seat, all to eager to get out of the cramped space.

“Remind me to never tag along with you again.” He chided playfully, and like you said before, you knew Hyunjin was too soft to be able to ignore your pleas — and even if he did, you had your secret weapon: puppy eyes. You only giggled and nodded. “yeah, whatever.” Allowing him to intertwine your fingers together as he pulled you out of the building.

Once you were out of the building and walking towards the nearest subway, you decided to go the park (which was incidentally opposite to the subway shop). As you walked in the almost empty park, you munched on your sandwich slowly, whilst Hyunjin had already devoured it all. You figured he didn’t drink his coffee before coming to the library, and you didn’t bother to ask either.

Hyunjin had still not et go of your hand, and every once in a while — out of pure habit — he would squeeze it gently, just as a form of reassurance. It never failed to warm your heart.

The both of you found a clean bench under the cool shade of a tree, enjoying the breeze as you finished your sandwich; while Hyunjin simply looked around the rows of trees and plants that were planted along the edge of the ground.

When Hyunjin caught your gaze on him once again, another thought popped into his head as he smiled yet again. Personally, he had no idea how he was acting so cheesy today, but seeing your reaction did not encourage him to stop.

“Do you have a map?” You boyfriend asked all of a sudden, and you frowned confusedly. Of course, you’d let your guard down from the previous explosion of cheesiness, which only fueled it more.

“Why do you ask?” You murmured.

“Because I keep getting lost i your eyes.”

“Aghhhh,” you groaned, covering your face with your palms as you looked at Hyunjin. “Where do you even get these from?” You pouted at him.

“I don’t know, maybe you bring it out of me?” Hyunjin shrugged.

“Hmph,” You pinched his soft cheek lightly, smiling as you did so.

Next, he grinned, tilting his head to the side as he gazed into your orbs. You sensed another attack coming ahead, but did nothing to stop it, because deep down, you were enjoying this way too much.

“You know at this angle, as the light hits your eyes.” A dizzy smile on his face as he gently fixed his hair, tucking some of the strands behind his ear. “I can see myself and I look great.”

That caused you to close your eyes, erupting into a fit of giggles as your eyes morphed into the softest of crescents.

Hyunjin opened his mouth yet again, but this time, you were quick to stop him.

“Ah, no young man. No more, or I’m gonna combust.” You tucked your own hair behind your ear.

“Nooooo,” He whined, pouting as he gave you the softest look that he could muster. “One more, please? Just one. Please please please please please-”

“okay fine! One more, and then no more, deal?” You looked at him smugly, and he nodded.

“Okay so, kiss me if I’m wrong, but dinosaurs still exist, right?”

Hyunjin had chosen that line for a joke, expecting to get yet another slap on his arm, or a shy turn of your head. What he didn’t expect was for you to blush profusely before you leaned in, pressing a soft peck to his lips.

When you pulled away, Hyunjin’s eyes were widened as you stared at each other silently for two seconds, before you snapped your fingers in front of him, pulling him out of his daze.

“You were wrong.” You stated as nonchalantly as possible, shrugging at him as you got up, grabbing your bag as you began walking towards the exit.

“H-hey, wait for me!” Hyunjin cried, not being able to suppress his smile as he ran towards you, immediately entwining your fingers once again. And the rest of the walk was spent just like that, in peaceful silence as you enjoyed each other’s presence in the cool, moist air.

“You’re such a goofball,” You mumbled at him, gaining his attention as you rubbed your thumb against the back of his hand. And before he could even reply with his loving, playful gaze, you completed the statement yourself, eyes twinkling in content.

“But you’re my goofball.”

"because i scraped my knee falling for you," kaminari finishes, smiling at how genuinely concerned y/n was.

"don't worry me like that," y/n rolls his eyes playfully.

kaminari sighs. is that his only response to his pickup line?

"stop fucking whining, dunce face!" katsuki bakugo, the ever-so loving friend that he is, shouts at him.

"c'mon, bakugo. our friend's hurting," eijiro kirishima, the genuine angel that he is, frowns, putting a comforting hand on kaminari's shoulder.

"thank you for understanding, kirishima," kaminari lets out a fake sniffle to show how touched he is.

"well, it's not my fucking fault you're a dumbass!"

"how am i a dumbass?" kaminari frowns.

"you're giving up after one stupid ass pickup line? lamest shit i've ever heard."

"bakugo kind of has a point, but i wouldn't call it the 'lamest shit i've ever heard'," kirishima says thoughtfully.

"what? i thought you were on my side," kaminari pouts.

"i was, but you did just start talking to him today," kirishima says.

"but--"

"no fucking excuses! stop bitching about something that you've only just recently grown the balls to start."

"what exactly did you say to him?" hanta sero cuts in, finally done with his homework that kirishima and bakugo had finished together earlier and that kaminari forgot about.

sero bursting into laughter so intense that he doubles over doesn't help lessen kaminari's embarrassment.

"kaminari," sero wheezes. "y/n's the pretty boy of our entire year. nowadays, his type is super popular, so girls and guys constantly fall for him. you're gonna need to up your game."

"sero's right," kirishima nods, carefully considering the facts laid out before him.

"siding with the enemy again, kirishima?" kaminari whines.

"well, y/n's been getting really popular. the girls might even be more into him than they are todoroki right now."

"and that's exactly why one pathetic pickup line isn't gonna have him falling at your fucking feet," bakugo rolls his eyes.

that's how kaminari set a goal to flirt with y/n at least once a day. hell, he even got a notebook to keep track.

when bakugo, kirishima, and sero first found out about said notebook, they burst out laughing.

after the first few days, they realized that kaminari was serious about it. he was filling it out more diligently than he did his homework.

"this is why you're failing all your classes, fuckhead," bakugo scoffed.

then, on the sixth day they decided to actually read what was inside.

day 1: line: "did it hurt when you fell? fell from heaven?" y/n's reaction: this is the second time he has taken the pickup line for its literal meaning, which is saying a lot because it's only the second time i've used one on him. when i said the second part, he responded playfully. was the playfulness him flirting back? what does it mean???

day 2: line: "you looked super cool during practice today" y/n's reaction: "thanks, you too" okay, first off, i know he was lying. i short circuited and looked like a total loser. second, i think i was too casual. that doesn't even count as flirting. that's like what kirishima would say to bakugo. unless if that's him flirting with explodo-boy?? i can't really tell sometimes

day 3: line: "even covered in sweat, you're the prettiest." y/n's reaction: he just rolled his eyes with another playful smile well, don't blame me! i got nervous, and the day was ending. i needed to make up something! one line a day, and i'm not about to mess it up on the third day

"the notebook," sero says, pointing at it as though it were obvious.

"just because i have a notebook doesn't mean i'm midoriya."

"yeah, but obsessively writing details in it is weird," sero points out.

"don't be so mean, guys," kirishima cuts in. kaminari's about to thank him before he continues to say, "maybe it'll help him practice writing letters that we can actually read."

"my handwriting's great, thank you," kaminari defends with a huff.

"now that kirishima mentions it, you write better notes for this than you do for class," sero says, amazed.

"whatever," kaminari groans. "do you guys think i should give up? he's already rejected me."

"he didn't exactly reject you. he just... avoided the question," kirishima says with a pitying smile as he points at day five in his notes.

Ah- I created ehhh 4?? I suppose KaruShuu head-canons posts today but do I regret it? Absolutely not, I loved it. So here you go, have another one, don't be shy, read it.

Who is the most affectionate? Sinceee they got married, I'm sure the longer into the relationship, the more they have opened up to each other? Karma would be the type to wake up first in the morning and kiss Shuu good morning, but since Shuu is an early bird, he would wake up before Karma and make breakfast for him. Thats how he shows affection ❤️🧡

Most common argument? Sad to think that they NeEd to argue 🙄💅 but oh well- I thinkkk they would argue over super silly things. For example what to watch (If you have read my previous head canons, you will know what I mean by 'Shrek Marathons'):

For Karma, by Shuu: Tamponhead (I used this one in my fanfic and I will forever love it), Moron, Karma. Tbh, I don't think neither like these pet-names or nicknames since that think they are 'cringy'.

Tho, Karma has quite a few: Shuu (Main, he doesn't use 'Gakushuu' but when he does, Shuu melts lol), Pumpkin, Orange, pumpkin pie, Strawberry shortcake (bc he loves strawberries so why not call Shuu one 😌🤚🏻), Sugar cube (Idk I think it's cute, tho I don't know if that's even a nickname- 💀💀)

Also a note: They would definitely not use 'baby', 'babe', 'honey' bc- noooo 😩💀

Who proposes? Karma 💅

Who sings along with the radio? Karma would sing along but he is horrible at singing and Shuu makes him KNOW it by him singing and Karma shuts up but finds it hilarious at the same time.

Who worries most? Both do, depending on the situation. Shuu would be worried about stuff like paying taxes or things like that, meanwhile Karma is worried for Shuus health, if he is eating enough as well as getting enough sleep every night. Shuu is a hardworking bee after all ✨

Who always wants to take selfies with the other? Karma wants to, for example they are traveling somewhere for vacation and Karma wants to take as many pics as possible with his husband so he can later on put them into an album ❤️😩 (KaruShuu as a married couple >>>>)

Who likes to playfully tease the other? Ohhh~ Karma teases Shuu all the time, but there are times where Shuu would feel playful so he would tease back

Who has the weirdest taste in their music? Karma I'm begging you- his music taste changes every week and road trips are a disaster for Shuu

Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant? Karma remembers because Shuu is always ordering the same things since he is minimalistic lol but Karma is a living chaos when it comes to food so Shuu can't remember it all.

Who is embarrassed to take their clothes off in front of the other? Lmao no matter for how long they are already together, no matter if they are married, no matter how many times they had done it, Shuu would be the one to be embarrassed about it every time.

Who tops? ...Okay so here, personally as someone who writes Fanfics, Karma tops. Always. I just- I just can't imagine Shuu as a top?? my friends gave me some really valid reasons for Shuu to be a top but I just can't see it 😩

Who reaches for the other's hand first? Oooo here an example! If they are driving in the car, and Karmas hand is free, Shuu usually reaches for it but as soon as Karma needs it to drive, he has to let go. Or if they are in the cinema - Shuu would definitely hold onto Karmas hand the whole time - as comfort, since they usually watch Horror movies together so yea 😌

Who kisses hardest? Who is most ticklish? Both is Karma, but when it comes to tickling, even tho Karma is more ticklish, he is also stronger than Shuu so he can easily pin him down and tickle him, just for the sake to see Shuu giggle which kills him bc God damnit isn't he adorable?

Who brings an animal they found home? Lol depends on the animal. I would say Karma is a cat person and Shuu is a dog person b u t Shuu is allergic to cats so they can't have cats. But I think if Karma would be the one to bring an animal home, it would be a dog.

Who holds the umbrella for the other when it's raining? Karma's shoe laces often get untangled, so when Karma bends to tie them, Shuu stands over him with an umbrella to keep the rain from pouring on him.

Who tries to playfully embarrass the other in public? Karma 😭

Who kills the scary bugs? Oh lemme tell you about this one:

Shuu HATES bugs, since he always had the feeling of his father having a bunch of centipedes around himself whenever he acted manipulative and so on so he hates them. So one time when Shuu was taking a shower, and Karma was in the kitchen, Shuu suddenly screeched so Karma went to check on him. He walked onto a Shuu, covering himself with a towel and looking absolutely T E R R I F I E D at the ceiling, stuttering. Karma was hella confused so he looked up and oop here we go, a spider. Karma obv took the spider off the ceiling to free it, but first he had to tease and scare his husband a little by walking towards the shower stall, "Shuu look~ He wants to be friends with you~", the way Shuu screamed at this made almost all of the windows in the apartment break.

Who asks the weird questions at random in the middle of the night? Karma does that on a daily basis, but when Shuu is a little bit drunk, he would ask weird questions to which Karma never has an answer but he jokes around.

Who hogs the blankets? Karma hogs them and Shuu ends up having a cold the next morning 😭

Who wakes up first? Shuu is an early bird, but Karma wakes up first for work.

Who wants to stay in bed just a bit longer? On weekends, they both stay in bed a bit longer to cuddle ❤️💕

Who always makes coffee for the other each morning? Karma makes coffee for Shuu before he leaves for work 🥰

Who cries during certain films or when reading sad books? Lmao Karma cries during Shrek every time the scene comes up where Shrek had an argument with Donkey 😔

Who wears the other's jacket? Shuu is the one to wear long coats, and Karma those thicc jackets. Shuu usually gets super cold even with the coat on, so Karma gives Shuu his jacket on top of the coat lol.

Who uses cheesy pickup lines? Karma- anywhere. Have an example:

"Hey Shuu, could you feel the shirt?", he asked Shuu while they went shopping and Karma wAsN't sure about his T-Shirt choice so Shuu was running his fingers slightly over Karmas chest with the shirt still on and thinking about the material, then Karma went: "Know what it's made of?", and Shuu looked at him and was about to answer him, but Karma was quicker and continued, "Boyfriend material", ObViOuSlY with a grin and Shuu was a gay blushing mess 💅 but then Shuu went along, "What do you mean boyfriend? I can only see Husband material", and tuRNED AWAYYYYY~

KaruShuu were invited to a funereal or sum and pls the church was quiet and stuff but obv Karma had to joke around and he leaned over to Shuus ear and whispered a joke into his ear which made our stubborn Shuu giggle and the church was this close👌 to throw them out lmao

Shuu was at work, and Karma likes to call him randomly, but oh well Shuu picks up and Karma starts to tease him over the phone maybe something very sexual stuff (knowing Karma he would) and Shuu just- he is sitting at his desk and his workers are giving him looks about why is he blushing so much.

Who makes the other laugh most? Karmas jokes always make Shuu laugh, sometimes even cry since they are hilarious.

Who would have to bail the other out of jail? Oh my God- Shuu would have to bail Karma out of jail maybe during college years, but I think Karma would mature a bit more as an adult

What would be their theme song? YOOO- A WHOLE PLAYLIST WOULD BE NEEDED-

Who would sing their child back to sleep? OOO!! Karma would be the type to read stories, but Shuu would sing them to sleep :D

What do they do when they're away from each other? I can imagine that they both have those business trips from time to time, so when they are apart, they FaceTime each other every evening to check on each other. Yes indeed they must stay at fancy hotels for their business trips and they are being served food, but they still check that the other one is eating and sleeping well. Oh and good morning and goodnight texts™️🥰

A headcanon about them that stabs your feels? Oh- oH GOD- That maybe they tend to act very distant at first in their relationships?? Or more cold? For example Shuu, he would not really know nor show much affection to Karma and Karma at first thinking that Shuu doesn't love him at all (which isn't true bc Shuu loves him deeply) but then he after some time figures it out when Shuu opens up to him more.

A headcanon that mends the previous one? That they both after some time spend together, have the opportunities to open up to each other, know each other better as well as find out each others weaknesses and strengths which makes their relationship stronger. I absolutely love them ❤️😩

Therapy Sessions Ch. 1

Pairing: NeganxOc. Setting: After the line up. Warnings: Idk, portraying Negan badly? Swearing? Summary: Negan picks Kelly (the oc) out of the lineup simply because he has the need to help her. Authors Note: I really don’t have much experiance with writing Negan, so sorry if he is out of character.

Alexandria had been her home since the beginning. At first she loved it. She helped build the walls that kept everyone safe. She loved the people that lived there, but over the years things just kept getting worse. More and more people around her died or left for other communities and it all took a toll on her.

These days it just felt like she was going through the motions. If she smiled it never reached her eyes. She still helped out. She did this because of this reason, went here and did that because the others needed her to, but she didn’t care, not really. She pretended to care about the people around her. That's why she was now helping get Maggie to the doctor at Hilltop.

That's why, even after Negan bashed in Abraham and Glenn's heads, she didn’t cry. She knew she should, everyone else around her was crying their eyes out, but not her. She just sat there, staring off into the distance looking bored until Negan stuck his bat in her face, touching the tip of her dainty nose with the cold bloody wood.

He expected her to give him the same look Rick and the others had, or seeing as how there were no tears on her face that she was in shock. However he was surprised to see her looking at him as if he were any other person. As if he hadn't just brutally murdered her people right in front of her. "Hey, Simon." Negan called and a guy walked over making her brown eyes bounce between the men. "Take this one to my truck." Negan smirked at her, showing his dimples as she stood up and walked around Negan to Simon.

Simon grabbed her upper arm, gripping it hard as he jerked her along. She walked willingly beside him, not putting up a fight. Eventually, she sucked in a hiss of breath as his fingers dug in too hard. "Hey!" Everyone's eyes snapped to Negan who walked over to glare at Simon. "The fuck you think you're doin'?" Simon just stared at Negan. "Did I imply anywhere in my fucking request that I wanted you to fucking bruise her beautiful as fuck body?"

She just glanced between the two of them, wondering what was going to happen next. "No." Simon answered still gripping her arm.

"Then take...your fucking hands...off of her." Simon let go of her arm and she quickly covered the throbbing area with her own hand, trying to cover the fact that in a few hours finger shaped bruises would appear there. He then looked at her, "Sorry about that, Sweetheart. Would you mind hopping into the passenger seat of that red pickup over there?"

She followed his long slender finger to said vehicle then looked back at his face. "No, Negan, I don’t mind." 

Negan beamed down at her and placed his hand on neck and face, sliding his thumb over her cheek bone. “I like you already.” Negan turned his smile to Rick. “Take fucking note from this one, she gets it.” Negan turned back to her and slid his thumb across her cheek, looking for any reaction from her, but got nothing. “Go on sweetheart.” he told her with a head jerk toward the truck as he dropped his hand.

She didn't look back at the people she was leaving behind. Seeing their disappointed faces would only remind her how stupid and careless she was being. A random guy opened the door of the truck for her and offered her his hand as she stepped up on the running board, but she ignored it, climbed inside and let him shut the door.

What felt like hours later, after the sun had started to rise, Negan climbed inside and started the truck. If she looked at him, it would send the message that she cared about where he was taking her and what was going to happen to her. So instead, she kept your eyes straight ahead, staring at the headlight illuminated trees in front of the truck. Negan’s eyes were practically burning a hole into the side of her face so finally she let her eyes look over at him before her head followed. “Do you even care that I just took you away from your people?” Negan asked as he looked away from her and started driving, leading the caravan of cars.

“Not really, no.” she answered, turning her eyes back out of the front glass.

“Really?” he asked disbelievingly.

She shrugged, not looking at him. “They aren’t my people. My people died a long time ago. Those people back there are just the people I existed with.”

He didn’t miss the fact that she said existed with, instead of lived with. It wasn’t hard to figure out that she was badly broken. As soon as his eyes landed on hers in the line up he knew it. But he had to wonder if she knew it and if she wanted to change, if she wanted to feel alive again. She wasn’t the first person he had seen with that look in their eyes, but for some reason she was the first that he wanted to make feel alive again. “Do you want to know why I chose you?”

“No, but something tells me you’re gonna tell me anyway.” She answered matter-of-factly.

“Because you didn’t freak out, you took it all in stride and didn’t even fucking blink.” She was unfazed by his words, all out of fucks to give about why he chose her or what he intended to do with her. “And that mean’s one of two things. You are hard as fucking nails…or you are so dead inside that you couldn't give two shits about anything.” His last words caught her attention and she finally broke her gaze out of the front glass to furrow her brows at him, the first facial expression he had gotten from her. “Which one is it?”

“Does it matter?” she asked turning her head to look out of the widow to her right.

“You bet your hot as fuck little ass it matters.” He said with a laugh in his voice. “One will land you in a very bad place a place you do not want to be. The other…well it’s better.” She slowly turned her gaze to him. “So do not fucking lie to me.”

She stared at the side of his face, taking in his graying facial hair, black leather jacket and hazel eyes. Back in the day, she would have found the man to be extremely attractive, but looking at him now she felt absolutely nothing. “Well, seeing as how I couldn't give two flying fucks in hell about what you plan to do with me or why you didn’t just put me out of my numb existence back there, I'd say I am shattered beyond repair.”

“You’re sure about that?” he asked.

“I might withhold information, but I never lie to anyone, ever.” she answered without looking at him.

After that the drive to the sanctuary was quiet other than the occasional radio call that Negan had to answer. And once they got to the sanctuary, Negan walked around to her side of the truck and pulled her door open then offered her his hand to step down out of the truck. Just like the other guy, she didn’t take his hand and instead hopped down out of the truck not bothering to use the running board as a step. As she looked around what she guessed used to be a factory of some kind, she saw Daryl fighting with everything in him to not be dragged into the sanctuary by the three men who were handling him. Their gazes met for a second and she knew that the wild helpless look in Daryl’s eyes should have some kid of effect on her, but it didn’t. “You ready to see your new home, Dead Girl?” Negan asked as he slapped his hand down on her shoulder.

She tore her eyes away from Daryl and looked up at Negan. “Sure.” He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and started walking, ushering her along with him.

“Dwight, you know what to do with him. Take care of it.” Negan barked. “I have something more important to take care of.” He led her into the building and through some dim, grey hallways then finally into a small room with a counter running along the back wall. A few kitchen essentials sat along it and a mattress sitting on a box spring made of wooden pallets sat along the wall to the left of the door. Negan motioned to the table sitting in front of the dusty windows on the wall to the right of the door and she willingly sat down in one of the chairs. “Do you know where you are?” he asked as he sat down on the foot of the bed.

"A bedroom.” she answered flatly.

“You are in my bedroom.” He expected some kind of reaction from that, but he got nothing. She assumed by all of his previous comments about her hotness that she was here to do what most adults do in bedrooms. “This is where you’re going to be staying for the foreseeable future.”

She looked up at him and nodded. “Alright. You seem really dominate so I guess it’s a good thing I’m okay with being submissive between the sheets.”

Negan flashed a cheeky smile. “That’s not what you’re here for, but I’m glad you would be cool with that.”

“Whatever you want, Negan.” she replied lacking all emotion.

“It’s not what I want.” His words made her tilt her head in curiously. “My wives are gonna be pissed when they find out you’re in here. They aren’t allowed to stay the night with me.”

“Then why am I allowed to?” she asked not understanding what he was doing or why he was doing it.

“Does it matter?” he asked with a small smile.

“I guess not, your wives…your problems.” She said with a shrug, the fact that he had multiple wives failing to get a reaction out of her.

"Just for curiosity's sake, when was the last time you had your brains fucked out?" Negan asked expecting some kind of look or reaction from his blunt question although he should’ve known better from her previous statement.

She simply leaned back in the chair she was sitting in and crossed her feet at the ankles. "Years ago."

"What about the last time that cold as shit heart of yours actually felt something?" He asked as he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees.

"Are you my therapist now?" She asked not understanding why he was asking her these stupid questions.

"Just...answer the question." Negan said with a small smile at her slightly smart ass tone. The first variation he had heard from her.

"I can't pinpoint it." She answered with a shrug.

"Okay." Negan sighed, getting tired of attempting to get information out of her for now, as he stood up and motioned for her to do the same. "Here's what's gonna happen." He opened the bedroom door and waved his hand for her to walk out first then followed her out. "My man here is going to bring you to the first class bathroom where you're going to shower while you're doing so he'll have someone hunt you down some fresh clothes. When you're done with that he's gonna take you to the doc. and have a full physical done. From there you and your chart will be delivered back here for the night." He looked from her to the man, "catch all that?" The man simply nodded.

So she took a shower then dressed in a clean, long sleeved red plaid button up, faded black skinny Jean's. The only personal belonging’s she was allowed to keep were the triangle locket she always wore and her black glitter converse. After that she was brought to the doctor’s office where he performed several different tests which included a pregnancy test, well woman’s exam and even her teeth got looked at. Finally after all the results had been written down and stuck inside a Minneola folder, she was delivered back to Negan’s door.

Negan opened the door, motioned her inside then told the man to, “fuck off”. "How did it go?" He asked and she silently handed him the folder. He tossed it aside. "I want you to tell me."

"Clean bill of health. No STDs no lumps in my breasts, I'm at a healthy weight with a healthy blood pressure and I have three tiny cavities that aren't in immediate need of fixing." She answered telling him what she thought was the most important. "Oh and, surprise surprise, I'm not pregnant."

"Good, now," Negan motioned her to the chair at the table that she had been sitting in before then sat down in the chair across from her. It was only then that she noticed the covered plate and two empty ones sitting on the table. "Let's eat."

He lifted the shiny metal cover to reveal two pork chops, grilled carrots, broccoli and cauliflower then strawberries and cantaloupe for desert. He placed a pork chop on her plate and started to put a spoon of vegetables on her plate when she spoke up. "Not to sound ungrateful, but cauliflower makes me gag."

"Alright then." He sighed and picked out all the cauliflower and put it on his plate then gave her two carrots and kept two for himself then scraped all the broccoli onto her plate. "I fuckin’ hate broccoli." He explained and she simply turned her eyes to her plate.

She waited for him to start eating then seeing him watching her expectantly she took a bite of pork. After she swallowed her bite of food and didn’t keel over, she glanced up at Negan and said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome." He smiled at her then shoveled in a bite of pork. "So, what's you're real name, Dead Girl?" It occurred to her then that he had failed to ask her that before and she didn’t think to tell him.

"Kelly Taylor." She answered then returned to eating. They ate in comfortable silence until they were done. Then Negan gathered up their empty plates and cups and set them outside the door to be picked up by one of his people.

Kelly then watched as he pulled off his boots and socks. She thought he was just getting comfortable, but then his shoes where followed by his scarf, jacket and t-shirt. "I'm going to bed. You're welcome to join me or you can make yourself a palette on the floor, you're choice." Her eyes followed his finger to a brown cabinet.

Much to Negan’s surprise, Kelly grabbed a blanket out of the cabinet, pushed most of his sheet and comforter to his side then laid down on the other side of the queen sized mattress and turned her back on him as she covered up. Soon after he turned off the lights her light snores filled the room.

A Boy Named John | John Marston x Abigail Roberts x F!Reader |

I wanted to do something new! This is like a series, I guess? Idk. Basically I wanted to do like snippets of a relationship between John/Abigail/Reader and so I did that. These will all contain a female reader as usual, and I'll try to make them all separate pieces, meaning you shouldn't have to read one part to understand another. But I make no promises tbh. I've taken inspo from the 90s Abi that @anniesburg created and I also put in some of my own modern!John headcanons, and you can read my list of those (and I'll probably do another list soon enough) here.

Pairing: John Marston/Abigail Roberts/Reader ((I like to use Roberts when Abi isn't married to John))

Rating: T? No sex or anything, just a little bit of fluff. This chapter is just showing how they meet, but there are some brief mentions of sex.

It was breezy out, so Abigail promptly declared at breakfast you two would be going to the park after lunch. She took your hand and led the way, as usual. You smiled and followed happily, but mainly because you were watching that rear end of hers bounce with every step.

Now you were sat with Abi under a tree, your arm slung over her shoulders while she's curled up into your side. You press a sweet kiss to her temple, nose bumping against the side of her beloved aviators. She never left the house without those sunglasses, the blue mirrored effect her favorite part, as they mixed well with her black hair. You, quite honestly, always loved how they accentuated her resting bitch face. She'd scared off quite a few homophobes that way.

"I love you." You murmur softly in her ear, slipping the palm of your hand over her sharp jaw. You turn her head upwards and descend down upon her cherry-chapsticked lips.

She smiles. "I love you too." She murmurs against your lips, her accent as strong as ever.

Grinning and pulling away slightly from your girlfriend, you look up just in time to see a tall, skinny man on a skateboard swerve to avoid hitting a child that was running from his parents. He runs right off of the paved sidewalk, the grass catching the wheels of his board and sending him flying right into a tree.

Abigail's up off the ground immediately, a gasp tearing out of her throat as she runs to the man. He's groaning and holding his head as he sits up, his dark eyes widening as he catches his reflection in Abi's sunglasses. He's dazed and confused, and you already know from the way Abi is checking his head for any bumps, bruises or cuts that she's claimed him as hers.

You pick up his skateboard and make sure the child is collected by his parents before you join Abigail. She's sitting beside him and chatting casually, as if he didn't just faceplant a tree. You see he's got a good scrape across his cheek and his lip's a little busted, but more prominently you notice the cut on his forehead above his right eyebrow. It's not bleeding a whole lot, but it's enough to make you want to fix him.

"This is John." Abigail tells you. You know she's noticed his left arm is covered in tattoos, which has made him a thousand times for attractive for her. Honestly, your girlfriend was the biggest flirt you'd ever met.

You never minded when Abi got her flirt on with men. Most of the time she was just searching for a good one-night-stand for the two of you, as you both were still very much into men and sometimes Abigail's dominant side just needed another person to order around. The last time you two were in a threesome was easily two months ago and you were ready for another.

You extend your hand and introduce yourself, kneeling in front of him and offering up the skateboard. He smiles some at you.

"Thank you." His voice is scratchy and low. You already understand Abigail's attraction to him.

"I think we should get a bandaid on that cut, John." Abigail says, placing her delicate hand on his forearm.

"Ah, that's okay, it ain't that bad..." He touches a fingertip on the cut, examining the blood that comes away with it. "It'll stop bleedin' eventually."

Abigail lifts her sunglasses into her hair and you snicker to yourself. He's gone and done it now!

"I said we're gonna get a bandaid on that cut, John. Come on." She takes his hand and stands up, pulling him up as well. John blinks stupidly but follows her lead as you walk on his other side.

"Yes ma'am." At least he was polite!

"So." You start off as Abi leads the way to the nearest drugstore. "Is swerving and running into trees a regular occurrence for you?"

"Naw, not really. I usually run into trees just fine without dodgin' little kids."

You laugh until you realize he's not kidding.

"So, John," Abigail clears her throat. "Tell us about you. What do you do when you're not getting a face full of bark?"

"Well, I work the regular week at an auto shop with my buddy Javier. It's a neat little gig. Pays me good and I get weekends off." He grins.

"So you're a mechanic?" You ask. Abigail's car has been draining power steering fluid like crazy and you hope he'll be willing to look at it.

"Yep. Been doin' that full time since I got outta high school, but I always been into cars and stuff like that. Not to toot my own horn or nothin', but I'm damn good at what I do." His smile is proud. It's also very cute.

"I bet you are." Abi grins. She pushes John down onto a bench that's outside of the store. "You stay right here. I'm gonna head inside and get some bandaids."

John nods and you sit with him as Abi shops. He looks at you carefully once she's gone. "So..." He gestures his finger from you to the store, indicating Abigail.

"Yes." You nod. "Four years now."

He nods slowly. "Okay."

"That's not a problem, is it?" You narrow your eyes.

"No- No, I'm cool with that!" He puts his hands up, panic in his voice. "Lesbians are cool!"

You smirk a little. Making straight men squirm a little was always fun. "Yeah, lesbians are pretty cool."

Abigail comes outside then. She swats your shoulder. "Stop making the poor guy sweat. He ain't no homophobe."

You pout. "I was just teasing, Abi."

"I don't care." She sits on John's other side, her fingertips brushing his jaw as she turns his head. He closes his dark eyes while she applies the disinfectant and then the butterfly bandage.

"All done." She smiles at him, rubbing some sanitizer between her delicate hands.

"You really didn't have to, but thanks." John grins. "I ain't really a nurse so I can't return the favor like that, but I am a decent cook. 'M havin' some friends over for a little backyard barbeque. You... You can come too, if you want." He murmurs.

"We'll be there." Abigail assures him with a sweet smile. She pulls her phone from her purse and unlocks it, handing it to him. "Text me the details, okay?"

"Should we bring something?" You ask while John inputs his phone number into Abi's phone.

"If you want to!" He smiles at you now, giving Abigail her phone back and holding his hand out for yours. In the back of your mind you note just how much of a natural he is in providing you both with attention. "I've got all the meat covered, and most of the fixin's been claimed, so maybe some more beer and dessert. Doesn't matter what dessert, but there is a golden rule about beer at my house: If you bring Pabst Blue Ribbon, you're out."

You and Abigail laugh, John having his own smile on as he inputs his phone number into your phone. He hands it back to you and checks his watch. "I better get home. I'll see you ladies tomorrow."

He stands up and tosses his board down, waving cutely at you and Abi before he takes off down the sidewalk. You glance at her while she's still watching John, no doubt looking at how twinky he is.

"I can't believe we're going to fuck a boy named John."

"Abigail, it's a backyard barbeque." You groan as your girlfriend once again went to go change her outfit. "And honestly, it doesn't matter what you wear! If it goes right it'll be on the floor."

"But I want John to undress me with his eyes first!" She pulls off her tank top. "There's nothing wrong with being sexy, my love."

You stand and come up behind her, slipping your arms around her waist and effectively stunting the progression of her outfit change. You kiss her sweet spot behind her left ear, the one that always makes her shiver and moan. "Are you saying I'm not sexy, Abigail?"

"That's n-not what I said and you know it." She murmurs, leaning back against you. "I just want him to like what he sees."

"I'm sure he will. And even if he doesn't, I sure do love what I see." You press a soft smooch to her cheek, rubbing her hips. "Come on, baby. Get dressed and let's go. I'm hungry!"

"Fine, fine!" She waves her hands around. You let go of her and sit back down on the end of the bed. You had put on a band t-shirt and some shorts an hour ago, and when Abigail was ready you'd put your black Chucks on.

"Why don't you wear that cute blue off-the-shoulder top? The one with the lace." You suggest, heart fluttering when her eyes light up.

"That's perfect! Ugh, I love you so much." She leans down for a quick kiss before rushing to the closet for said top and a strapless bra. She put on some sandals and then her beloved sunglasses, now /finally/ ready to go.

You take her hand once you're outside and walking for John's house. It turned out that he only lived a couple blocks away from you and Abi, which was nice because instead of driving there you two could walk and enjoy the nice day. Abi smiles up at you, carrying the case of Coors Light she'd picked up this morning while you held the ice pops. A cherry one was already calling your name, but you resisted the temptation, lest you feel Abi's wrath over it.

"This is so cute!" Abi coos as you approach the little two-story house John called his home. It was navy blue with white trim, and there was an older Ford pickup in the driveway.

The fence to the backyard is open, so you lead the way back. There's an inflatable pool with a dirty blond lounging in it, and you couldn't say for sure, but you were certain he was actually asleep in it.

"You're here!" John's scratchy voice sounds happy, thankfully. You turn to see him approaching, his dark hair tied up out of his face. Expectantly, the bandaid from yesterday is gone.

"I told you we'd come!" Abigail holds the beer out to him. He takes it with a gasp and a big grin.

"This is my favorite beer!" The fact that he's so excited over such a small thing warms your heart. He's a simple man so far.

"Really? Ain't that somethin'." Abigail grins. "Introduce us to your friends, John!"

"Right, right!" He opens the blue cooler on the ground and pops the cardboard end open, dumping the cans of beer inside, along with the ice pops, and closing the lid. You snicker fondly at how expertly done that was.

John points the man in the pool. "That's my brother, Arthur. He don't sleep much, so leave him alone until dinner."

"Got it." You nod and then John brings you to the large, round table where the others are playing cards at.

"Javier, Bill, Mary-Beth, Sadie, Charles, Tilly, Sean." He says as he points to each member. "Guys, and gals, this is Abigail," He rests a large hand on her shoulder, and then the other on yours as he introduces you to his friends. "I met 'm yesterday at the park and I thought they were pretty cool, so... Be nice to 'em."

"It's nice to meet you." Javier smiles gently. "Would you like to join us? We're about to play poker."

"Texas Hold 'em?" You ask, grinning. You'd always been good at that particular brand of the game.

"That's the only one we play!" Sean matches your smile, patting the empty seat beside him. "Come on, sit down! You deal first. No dirty dealin' now!"

"Oh lord." Abigail rolls her eyes when you eagerly sit down. "I'm stayin' far away from this trainwreck."

John snickers. "Not a gambler?"

"No, because my darlin' here does enough of it for the both of us." You note her sarcasm, but the love of the game wins over it. You're sure you'll be paying for it later on, but Abigail's punishments are always fun.

"You wanna come grill with me?"

"Sure." She smiles and goes to the grill with him. She isn't a good chef by any means so she lets him do the work while she watches.

When the poker game disbands, you go grab a beer from the cooler. Abigail is currently asking John about every tattoo that's adorning his left arm and he's happily telling her about each one. You smile and stand on John's other side.

"Smells good, John." You comment. He smiles proudly and flips a few burgers.

"Told you I can cook! I'm a lot of things, but a liar ain't one."

"John was telling me about his tattoos." Abi grins.

"Did you tell him about yours?" You hum. Abigail only has a couple, but they look good on her. There's one on her right shoulder. It's a 'basic bitch' tattoo but you're proud of it. It's a lemniscate with your anniversary winded in it. You can't help but give it a kiss whenever you make love to her.

"I kinda figured that one out for myself." John snickers, pointing to the lemniscate. "Do you have any?" He asks you.

You shake your head. "No. I've always been too nervous to get one."

"Ain't no shame in that." He says. "They hurt!"

You smile a little. He's a sweet man, you think. Your eyes meet Abigail's and you know she's feeling good about this one.

Dinner is tasty and the way they all interact tells you they're more of a family than just a group of friends. The gathering continues late in the night and eventually you and Abigail are the last ones there.

John sits on the grass, staring up at the stars and the moon. "Did you ladies have fun?"

You sit on his right, Abigail flanking his left. "I had a lot of fun, actually." You say, and Abigail readily agrees.

John grins. "Good. Maybe I'll get to see ya around more?"

"I don't see why not." Abigail says. "In fact, why don't you come on over to our place for dinner? I'm no cook, but my partner-in-crime here is."

"Okay!" It takes everything you have to not just grab him and kiss those pink lips. "I'll eat anything, so don't worry about that."

Abigail smirks a little, the dirty-minded minx. "I ain't worried about a thing, John."

"Walk us home?" You ask sweetly. "We're just a couple blocks over."

"Sure!" He stands and offers a hand to each of you, pulling you off of the grass and to your feet. "Last thing I want is for you two ladies walkin' around by yourself this late anyway. I know this is a good neighborhood, but still."

He takes you home, walking you up the porch. Abigail fishes for the house key and you turn to John. "Text me when you get back home, okay?"

"Yes ma'am." He nods, and he waves shyly once Abigail has the door open and a light on. "I'll see you two at dinner."

"Seven o'clock sharp, and don't be a minute late." Abigail says sternly.

He grins, and you suspect he has a thing for being told what to do. "Yes ma'am."

You and Abigail wish him goodnight, waving before you went inside and locked the doors. You watched him through the peephole and Abi from the window beside the door as he tucks his hands in his pockets and walks back home.

"Great." You say when he's gone. "Now I have to cook dinner."

Abigail doesn't bother hiding her laughter as she goes up to bed. You follow her up the stairs, touching her butt once you reach the top.

"Is there a reason we didn't try to get laid tonight?" You ask. Usually when Abigail sets her sights on a new boy she's quick to pounce.

"I think this one is different, my love." She turns around and embraces you.

"You think?"

"He's kind, and he never tried anything with us. Most of these men know we only entertain them because we want to have sex. John... I don't think he knows that. And in saying that, I feel like he deserves better than a one-night-stand."

"So what are you saying?" You ask, brushing her hair out of her eyes.

"I'm not sure yet. Maybe it's better that we're just friends with him. He really is a genuinely nice man."

You sigh, knowing she's right. She usually is. "We'll find someone else to have some fun with."

"Oh, don't pout at me like that. If you need some dick that badly, get my strap ready while I wash my face. I'll even let you call me John."

You really do have the best girlfriend.

Notes: My new story warranted a prologue to cover some of the plot and I thought I'd post it to see what y'all think. I'm seriously excited to begin this. I've had it planned for about 6 months, and I haven't even really started, but I think I'm already thinking of a sequel. Oops It's really important to note that this whole story was massively inspired by music, a specific album, to be exact. It means a lot to me. Listening to each song at the end of a chapter will hopefully help you understand the spirit of what I'm trying to do here. I implore you to not be a lil sneak and ruin anything for yourself by listening to any other song from the album, if you actually want to enjoy my story in the musical form. All credit given to the band that changed my life. Another important note is that each chapter will take place in a specific month of the year, which is noted at the top (with the season, since there's three chapters per season [excluding this chapter since it's just a prologue], idk it was important to me when I planned it and now I don't remember why. Amongst the chatter and slight chaos of the patrons of the airport, a small family bid their farewells as an announcement caught their ears.

‘This is the final boarding call for flight BGR213 to Columbus, final boarding call.’

“Oh, I’m gonna miss you, sis!”

“You’ll see me in a couple of months, Rubes. But, I’ll miss you more!”

“It’s more than a couple, Yang. Still, you better hurry or you’ll miss the plane!”

Yang nodded, agreeing with her father’s concern. Giving her little sister, Ruby, one last bear hug, she took in a shaky breath.

“I better scoot, then, eh? I love you guys,” she embraced her dad, the man trying to hide his sadness – and failing.

“Be safe, my sunny little dragon. I love you,” he sniffed.

“See you at Christmas!”

Taking in the sight of Taiyang and Ruby waving goodbye, looking like they missed her already, Yang hoisted her backpack over her shoulder entered the boarding gate for her flight, bound for Ohio.

Her new adventure awaited her, after all.

Drifting into a state of quiet fear, Yang let her feet and legs carry her through the gate and onto the plane, not fully processing the situation. She knew she was leaving everything she’d known for almost her whole life, but it was like it was yet to sink in. She sat in her seat – a window view – happy to have several hours to get used to everything.

Asking herself if she was truly happy with this decision, she knew that it seemed impulsive and foolhardy to her dad and sister. Even if they had planned this move sufficiently, it seemed sudden anyway. Why would a seventeen-year-old girl want to uproot herself to a different state just before her final year of high school? It was social suicide, especially since she was one of the most popular girls around.

It’s because Yang was sick of that little town and everybody in it (not Ruby though, and to a lesser extent, not her dad either). Nothing was a secret there. Judgement was grating on her nerves as she grew older and older and saw it more and more.

They all knew their family was a mess since Summer had died.

Taiyang had not taken the loss well – in fact, he took it very badly.

It was not the best situation for six-year-old Yang and four-year-old Ruby – so to say ever since she had died, it was to say that the last eleven years of their lives had been an uphill battle.

When their father had shut down, the townspeople had done their best to help them, but it wasn’t enough. They couldn’t be the mother they’d lost. The mother Ruby lost.

Yang did the only thing she could: become the best mother she could be. In turn, she sacrificed her childhood for Ruby’s – and she’d do it all again if she needed to. It wasn’t Ruby’s fault. As Ruby grew old enough for Yang to step out of that role, it was too late for her to regain all the time she had lost.

So, Yang made the most of the time she had.

She knew that her father had tried his best, but it wasn’t enough. He gradually improved over time, and by the time she was eleven, he took most of his fatherly duties much more seriously, giving her her chance.

To say that she was a bit of a problematic kid was an understatement – not that she was a brat or treated her father terribly, no. School became the best place for her to let out her frustrations and have fun. She never even tried to reach her potential, putting more effort into being ‘cool’ and having the times of her life.

The last couple of years especially, were a riot. Not even considering the future, Yang loved to party and loved to keep up an image. An image that rebelled against the picture of the poor girl the town thought she was – she wanted them to think she’d been unaffected.

It wasn’t their business, anyway.

The truth was, Yang had made a mess out of the life that lay ahead of her. She had only done the minimum to stay at a passing grade or to be able to do whatever sports her school had offered. It was easy to be athletic and not very book-smart.

The other truth was, after Summer had died, Taiyang told her she wasn’t actually her mother at all. That her mother was another woman named Raven, whom had a twin brother, that he and Summer had met and worked with in Canada before she was born.

Ever since that day, Yang had craved more knowledge about her true mother, something she investigated many times to little success. Her uncle began to visit them periodically, now that she knew about his existence. She knew that if her dad wouldn’t tell her about Raven, Qrow was the only other person she could ask.

Which had lead her to this decision to move in with him in another state. Yang felt trapped in her life in her small town, partly by her own choices, partly that in another year, she’d have finished high school and have nowhere to go. Deep down, she recognised that she was probably too late to have a revelation such as that, and it was just a little bit ironic that she was late in growing up when she had had no choice at age six to mature rapidly.

Maybe being this screwed up was Taiyang’s fault. He’d shirked all responsibility on her, falling into a pathetic hole of alcohol dependence and ignoring his depression. A little kid shouldn’t have had to slap her father awake from a bender just to ask him to help out – which never worked anyway.

She shouldn’t have had to find him sitting at the kitchen table staring at a knife late at night. Too often she’d been shooed away, hearing him say goodnight, and wondering if when she woke, he’d be gone.

As much as he’d apologised when he had realised – with her help – that he needed to get it together, she’d still lord it over him when she felt petty. When he’d chastised her for something stupid, or tried and butt in on her life, she’d told him that he wasn’t there for her before and didn’t get to decide when he was now. ‘Wake up,’ she’d said, ‘you don’t get to play the dad card now.’

Yang would admit she felt accomplished when she’d told him what she wanted to do and he had responded, ‘Yang, I’ve never been able to hold you back, but not by choice. It’s time for me to be a man, and choose to not hold you back any longer. Be the person I know you can be.”

Because at that moment, she knew they could both move on from their past.

Landing in a new place was kind of nerve wracking, she thought. But this was what she wanted. She had made it another step closer to knowing where she’d come from.

Looking amongst the strange faces of a strange place, she looked for a sign of her pickup. It had been awhile since she’d seen him and Yang hoped he was still the old, grumpy faced man she remembered.

She spied a familiar ringed hand tip a familiar flask up to a familiar scruffy face, and smirked. He was the old grumpy faced alcoholic she remembered.

As Yang eagerly sidestepped travellers to her uncle, he screwed the lid back on the container that was likely filled with something strong enough to make her cringe.

Tucking his contraband back into his jacket, Qrow Branwen welcome his niece with open arms. “Hey, firecracker. Look at you, all big and strong.”

His gravelly tenor was a sound she had missed. “You know me,” her shoulders shrugged off the praise, despite the pride she felt that he’d noticed. Taiyang had been helping her develop the capacity to pursue her athletic hobbies – anything physical, Yang was down for.

“Come on kid, it’s a bit of a drive,” Qrow gestured for her to follow. “Hope you’re not disappointed with a normal car ride.”

Yang snorted shamelessly. “I’ll deal. Did Bumblebee make it here safe?”

Turning towards baggage claim, her uncle nodded, “Yep.  You named that death-trap after an insect?”

“Excuse me, I’ll have you know that my bike,” she paused, considering that he may have been accurate describing the motorcycle as a death-trap, “…is named after the coolest insect on the face of the Earth.”

Qrow had made an effort and drove through the most interesting route in Canton, Yang noting the well-known Pro Football Hall of Fame as the city’s pride and joy. She guessed she’s a Browns fan now – not like Maine had their own football team.

It was daunting to know this was now her home for at least the next year. Backing out part way through would be stupid – she came here gain some of the freedom back.

…and to learn more about her birth mother – her estranged birth mother.

She knew she looked a lot like her father, blonde hair, tall, with an affinity for the colour yellow. Yet Taiyang had always said she looked like her mom, which she only had one, old and lousy picture of. Her golden hair did not match her mother’s black, so she always figured that he was just saying that. He had never understood or agreed with her craving to know more about his first wife, Raven Branwen – it seemed her uncle was on her side.

He obviously saw that at age 17, Yang was sick of being given the little-kid treatment.  Otherwise, she didn’t see herself being here, in the twin-siblings’ hometown, living with him.

“Qrow?”

The car turned into a new street. “Yeah, yeah, we’re almost there,” he muttered.

“Not that. Just…thanks.”

She saw him crack a hint of a smile. “No problem,” they pulled into the drive of a small two story house. “Welcome home.”

He wasted no time in approaching the door to unlock it, as Yang pulled her bags from the trunk – since she was fully capable.

Passing through the threshold held somewhat of a weight for her. This was the Branwen’s family home. Her mother had lived here, at some point, long ago. It surprised her to see that the room towards the rear end of the house housed a lone upright piano. The walnut was weathered, clearly showing its age, dust coating the flat surfaces.

As she inspected the instrument, Qrow curiously observed from the doorframe. “I didn’t think you could play,” he stated.

“I can’t. I like sports, remember?” she laughed. “Judging by the dust, you can’t either.”

Qrow shook his head in agreement. “Not my style either. Family heirloom, or some crap.”

Yang lifted the cover and placed her fingers on the spotless keys, accidentally pressing a sour note when she heard, “Raven could,” from behind her.

She suddenly found herself disliking it.

“I’m gonna unpack,” she quickly exited the room and any further conversation about that. Funny, how this was what she wanted to know about, but she didn’t know if she’d enjoy finding it all out that much.

A low hum followed her. “Upstairs, first room on your right. Don’t worry, it’s as empty and impersonal as they get.”

Thank fuck for that.

okay, yeesh, long boring credits are over, now lets get on with the show!! :D

CHAPTER 1: HOT, DARK, STRONG, JUST LIKE ME

The first time was an accident.

Baitsakhan didn’t really mean to walk into a coffee shop that wasn’t Starbucks, it just kind of happened.  His legs kind of just… carried him away from the Starbucks nearest to his house, and since he couldn’t be bothered to walk an extra block to the second closest Starbucks, he decided to try out that shady looking “Endgame” cafe.  Edgy name, Baitsakhan thought absent-mindedly.  Well, technically he did have reason, and it wasn’t really an accident, but hey, he can’t just say he didn’t want to go back to the Starbucks because he was pissed at the cashier.  That Hilal something, who was all about niceness and world peace and all that other nonsensical bull.  It just pissed him off, how people could be so cheery and kind.  The Incident last week, involving at least a dozen pamphlets on saving the environment and using Baitsakhan as a bulletin board, was the final straw.  He couldn’t go back to Starbucks after that, and what right did the world have to take away coffee from a poor, sleep-deprived, coffee-needing teenager, right?

A text lit his phone just when he was about halfway across the street.  He ignored the faint vibration.  Really, it could only be three people: Jalair, his very over-protective brother who wouldn’t let him do anything remotely fun (“Baitsakhan, what are you doing to that poor kitten?” “Oh, I don’t know, maybe just cutting off his tail with a butter knife if you suddenly went blind today.” “How could you do that to poor Muffin??!!”), his horribly awesomely social sister Sarangerel who had a bajillion times more friends than Baitsakhan (“A bajillion times zero is still zero Baits.” “That’s not my point.”), or his Chinese friend (read: only friend) An Liu (contrary to popular belief, Baitsakhan did have one friend, though even he didn’t care to admit it).  Turns out, curiousity got the better of him, and after another five or six continuous obnoxious buzzes (by now he was sure it was Sarangerel), Baitsakhan whipped out his phone angrily, prepared to type out a biting lecture about why friends and family should not double text and annoy the hell out of him in the process, when he realised –– with a frown –– that the number displayed on his phone was an unfamiliar one, labelled neither “Mother-Hen”, nor “Social Butterfly”, nor “Asian Hacker Lovebird”.  In fact, the area code displayed it wasn’t even from the area.

And all of them, every single text, was the same thing: bring me the goddamned ice cream.  A final: ais ik ur redin these txts topped it off.

The atrocious grammar pissed him off.  So did the fact that this person called him freaking Ais.  What kind of name was that, anyways?  Typing furiously, a long paragraph was added to the message: F off, I’m not Ais.  You’ve got the wrong number idiot.  Besides, who would give ice cream to you??  Loser.  By the way, don’t text me back.  Like ever again.  Delete this message immediately, or my weird hacker friend will be out to get you and possibly put a bullet through your head with a drone if you don’t.  Have a nice life!

Feeling pleased with his impeccable grammar, and his nice little response, Baitsakhan continued along towards the coffee shop.  The a hidden speaker above the door emitted a faint ringing noise, which was, too be honest, quite annoying.  He didn’t understand how anyone could stand hearing that sound hundreds of times a day.  For once, he kind of felt bad for the baristas.

The coffee shop was surprisingly quite crowded, at least compared to what Baitsakhan’s expectations would be.  In the far corner, a sturdy-looking dark-skinned girl sat opposite of another one, except slim and of Indian heritage.  Closer to the entrance sat a woman, hijab covering half her head, alone, sipping a cup of coffee with an icy expression on her face.  Near the cashier, three people were chatting animatedly, a guy with a scar on his face holding hands with a blond girl, sitting across from a pretty Native-American girl.

Baitsakhan made a face.  He really should have just sucked it up and settled with Starbucks.  All these annoying people… at least the Starbucks was relatively quiet.  Sighing, he made a mental note not to come back again, before begrudgingly trudging up to the counter.

The boy standing at the counter was presumably in his late teens, his hair honey colored with streaks of something darker tied up into a short ponytail, displaying a set of silver earrings that contrasted nicely with his immaculate jet-black suit, though steaks of it were already coming loose.  It suited him nicely, Baitsakhan couldn’t help but notice.  His electric blue eyes, wary like that of a predator’s, flashed eagerly at having another customer, perhaps saving him from his endless boredom.  A nonchalant expression crossed his face, followed by a knowing smirk, and then was once again replaced by a mockingly polite look as he called out,

“How may I help you?”

Baitsakhan stared unabashedly at the guy, unamused.

“I thought this was a coffee shop.  Get me some goddamned coffee.”

Something akin to surprise appeared in the cashier’s eyes, but like every other emotion quickly disappeared.  He probably didn’t get rude comments like this often.  Serves him right, thought Baitsakhan, trying to ignore the boy’s undeniable hotness as a feral grin spread across the guy’s face.  The name Maccabee was written on a pin proudly hung from the guy’s breast pocket.  Baitsakhan duly noted this, for no reason at all.  He had no reason to store away this kind of information.  He totally wasn’t planning on coming back again.

“Okayyy then,” he drawled, every word unnecessarily lengthened, “How would you like your coffee?”

“Hot, dark, strong.” Baitsakhan had no time for this nonsense.

“Just like me then,” Maccabee said, waggling his eyebrows.

Baitsakhan stared, unimpressed,

“Do you flirt with everything that walks on two legs?”

Again, the guy looks surprised.  Probably hasn’t had a pick-up line thrown back at his face before, Baitsakhan thinks with a smirk.

“Nope, just cute ones.”

The barista turned to make the coffee, and thank God he turned to make the coffee, because Baitsakhan has chosen just the right time to have his face turn completely red.

Ugh.

He really should have just gone to Starbucks.
