word count: who knows at this point, but it is kind of short anyway.

synopsis: your boyfriend, dan heng, gets jealous over you talking with another guy that he doesn’t know. that’s the gist of it.

warning: lowercase is intended! there might be some spoilers if you are not caught up with dan heng IL’s lore. dan heng IL has me on my KNEES fr. i’m aware that “the guy that should not be named rn” and dan heng know each other. they just don’t know each other in this story.

it is a normal day in the xianzhou lufou, with the clear, sunny skies shining with glory.

along with a great number of cycranes soaring in the skies and the residents’ chattering the day away, xianzhou lufou is clearly a nation specializing in business. new ships arrive at the docks of xianzhou lufou as well, dropping off raw materials and such. starskiffs also does the same, picking up materials from xianzhou lufou and shipping them to a different places around the world. trade is one of the many reasons why the xianzhou lufou businesses flourish.

although it is the complete opposite in sclaegorge waterscape, a location that is a part of xianzhou lufou. this place is mostly secluded and not many people go here. however, it is a place that withholds xianzhou’s history. it is the place where dan feng was reincarnated into dan heng, the person he is now.

at the moment, dan heng is meditating near a pond in scalegorge waterscape, its own quietness and tranquility is pleasant to him. the sounds of water rippling from a nearby waterfall is also relaxing to listen to.

dan heng recalls how he and bailu explored many different parts of xianzhou lufou to discover more lore about dan feng, his past incarnation. he has to stand in the shadow of dan feng for the rest of his life, but he has come to accept this fact. it is something he can’t change, however, he is aware that he is his own person. this new revelation has unlocked a new perspective of his life. for once, he is alright with how his life is heading right now.

while he was meditating, he notices a familiar figure in the distance. or perhaps, he senses a similar feeling that he knows all too well. in other words, he is acknowledging their presence. when he opens his eyes and observes his surroundings, he sees you. however, you don’t seem to notice him yet.

why is that the case?

well, that’s because you were communicating with someone, that someone being another guy. someone that dan heng doesn’t entirely know. for some reason, he has a strong urge to protect you from this man, especially when this man is carrying a large coffin.

hearing you laugh because of what the unknown man has said caused an uncomfortable jab in his chest. seeing you smile because of another reason besides him makes him feel anxious and uneasy. he tries to meditate again to calm down his frantic mind, but the thought of you being with another guy makes him shake in his boots.

is he jealous? no way. he trusts you enough to know that you wouldn’t cheat behind his back. so why does he feel so tense when he sees you with this guy? he figures that it is one of your colleagues, but you two seem closer than that.

in fact, this guy is far more handsome than he is. with his luscious golden hair and his light green eyes. it’s only natural that he feels…anxious about this, right?

he’s afraid of losing you after all. he loves you too much to let you go.

and so, while you were casually conversing with this tall, handsome guy, you suddenly feel something wrapped around your waist protectively. looking down for a second, you see a turquoise-colored tail that you know all too well.

the guy that you were talking to was also astonished and confused by dan heng’s sudden appearance. he seems intrigued though as if he is aware that he knows who dan heng is.

looking back up at dan heng, you raise an eyebrow at dan heng. it’s like you’re silently asking him what is he doing, completely unaware of how tense he is right now. in fact, you are slightly taken aback by his sudden appearance as well since he just appears out of nowhere. you didn’t even hear his footsteps!

your guy friend introduces himself politely.

“greetings, kind sir. i’m luocha, a merchant from a foreign land.” he does a polite bow as well to express how genuine he is.

“you’re more than a merchant, luocha. your expertise on herbal medicine is fascinating.” you comment, a bit amused that luocha is actually introducing himself to dan heng. dan heng knows that you’re just being nice by praising him like that, but that statement made him a little insecure, deep down.

“you’re not wrong, i am skilled in herbal medicine and help those in need.” luocha chuckles, he nods in agreement. you only sigh and tell your boyfriend that you are helping luocha collect some herbs for pharmaceutical purposes.

dan heng slightly becomes less tense when you clarified luocha's statement. perhaps dan heng is still iffy about luocha, but he trusts you enough that luocha is telling the truth.

luocha then briefly tells you that he will see you later because he has some other matters to attend to. it seems like he knows that he is making dan heng uncomfortable for some unknown reason. he’s being considerate. in addition, luocha has a hunch that dan heng was silently telling him that you belong to him.

after all, he knows that vidyaharas are loyal, but territorial creatures.

when luocha leaves with his giant coffin, you also tell him your farewell. the grip from dan heng’s tail tightens a little, as if he doesn’t want you going anywhere right now. noticing this, you wonder why dan heng is so tense around luocha.

giving him a hug, you want to soothe his nerves. dan heng, a bit taken aback by this, immediately calms down when he feels your warmth and closeness.

you always know how to calm his anxieties. however, he is still insecure, but he decides that he will keep them quiet. he thinks that he shouldn’t worry your pretty little head about it.

his tail wraps around your body in multiple ways, entrapping you in his tail like a warm blanket. his tail is always very gentle and comfortable to you. the end of his tail starts ticking your cheek. you can feel how fluffy it is.

dan heng hugs you back, but his arms hug you such a way that he is protecting you from danger, even though there isn’t anything dangerous in scalegorge waterscape right now.

it’s like he is telling others to back off, just like what he did to luocha. without you noticing, he was staring down at luocha in the most subtle way possible. perhaps that is the real reason why luocha left. but you wouldn’t know that, would you? he thinks that it is only natural that he wants to protect you because he cherishes you deeply. this isn’t entirely wrong, is it?

you are his. he is yours. makes sense, right?

“where did you come from, dan heng?” you ask dan heng out of the blue, he did just pop out of nowhere while you were walking around xianzhou lufou with luocha.

“i do come to scalegorge waterscape sometimes. after all, it’s a place that holds many memories of my past life. i just saw you with luocha while i was meditating.” dan heng explains. it makes sense. dan heng then tightens his hug around you, not wanting to let you go yet.

“do you know why luocha carries that coffin everywhere? who is in that coffin?” dan heng then asks you a question, a bit tense about what you are going to say. you raise your eyebrows at this question, not even considering the fact why luocha is carrying a coffin in the first place.

“you know, i never thought of that.” you said. dan heng looks at you with one of his eyebrows raising now, a bit surprised that you didn’t think of that. dan heng then looks a little cautious, his expression looks genuinely concerned.

“i have a feeling that luocha is more than he meets the eye.” dan heng says with a hint of caution. “you should just avoid him at all costs, [your name]. what if he hurts you?” he adds.

“well, luocha can also be a mortician, which is why he is carrying that coffin around.” you exclaim. that’s the most logical explanation, but dan heng is still tense about this.

he didn’t like that you are friends with luocha. he doesn’t even trust luocha right now. is he being understandably cautious or overly paranoid? whatever it is, he doesn’t like the idea of you hanging around with luocha.

“a merchant, a doctor, and a mortician? can someone have that many occupations?”

“that’s a fair argument,” you replied. rubbing your chin in thought, you think about other reasons why luocha would carry a coffin around everywhere.

“[your name], i think you should just stay away from him for now on. i don’t trust him.”

“now you just sound jealous.” you respond with a hint of playfulness in your tone.

“i’m not jealous. i’m just making sure my girlfriend stays safe.” dan heng says.

“sure, keep telling yourself that.” you said, your teasing tone clearly distinct in your voice.

dan heng sighs in frustration, realizing that he can’t really change your mind. maybe he is jealous, but would he admit it to your face? no.

“i’m not jealous, i swear.”

“are you sure? would you like me to provide evidence that led me to this conclusion?”

burying his face into your shoulder, his cheek gently nuzzles with the skin of your neck. his cyan horns are close to your face now, seeing how sturdy they look up close. his horns emit a soft turquoise colored light. it’s barely noticeable right now, but it is there.

“that’s not necessary. i am just afraid of losing you, dear.”

“so you are jealous?”

“good riddance.” he sighs again and his turquoise colored tail continues to embrace you warmly. his arms are still around you too. after all, this is a very comfortable position to dan heng. you are always a good person to hug thanks to your soft skin and your gentle nature. in fact, the hug becomes more firmer and gentle, as if he doesn’t want to let you go out of his sight.

lightly chuckling in amusement, you rub dan heng’s back softly.

“your response just revealed your answer, honey,” you said gently. good aeons, dan heng loves it when you refer to him as cute nicknames like that.

“it’s only natural that i want to protect who i love though.” dan heng retorts back. you hum in thought, knowing that is a good explanation.

you are a gemstone that is more precious to a diamond, a gemstone that outshines the other gemstones. you are the only gemstone he has eyes on. you are perfect in his eyes. he is lucky that he found you first.

you are his and he is yours.

no one else will take you away from him, and no one else will take him away from you.

Character Story: Part I: He slips away easily

Character Story: He is good at disguises, as if he's an actor… as if he were wearing a mask… because actors and masks and roles… Masked Fools foreshadowing?

Character Story: Why did they choose this specific story to be the one in his profile? The tale seems so random… or is it?

Character Story: Everything is purely dialogue… almost as if it were a script. If we compare it to the others, they have character stories that match them well, such as Bailu, whose character story is in the format of a prescription because she is a doctor.

Light Cone - Eyes of the Prey: "In reality most prety don't realize when danger is encroaching. This one's no exception." After reading the description, it may seem weird since Sampo noticed the sniper BUT what if the sniper is the REAL prey?

Light Cone - Eyes of the Prey: "So that's what greed looks like. That amount is equal to several of my contracts already… No wonder someone wants him dead." Another reference to money being a form of pleasure.

Light Cone - Eyes of the Prey: "As if these thoughts were broadcasted out loud, the an in the scope turns his head, looking straight into the eyes of the sniper. 'I've been waiting for you. Would this much be enough for you to hear me out?'" The EYES of the PREY refers to the SCOPE of the SNIPER. The light cone depicts Sampo from the EYES of the PREY.

Kit: His technique is to blind enemies, which may call back to the fact that he slips away easily without anyone noticing

Kit: Why are his weapons blades that turn into boomerangs and not anything related to his obvious line of work?

Kit: His basic attack is called "Dazzling Blades"; I might be overthinking but the word "dazzling" is something I would hear when one describes an actor…

Kit: His skill is called "Ricochet Love"; "ricochet" often refers to projectiles bouncing more than once off of a surface (verb) or a shot that bounces more than once off of a surface (noun)---so where does the "love" come into all this? Love is another form of pleasure; I don't know but this skill reminds me of the Masked Fools again just because of all the bouncing more than once off of a surface and the love thing..

Kit: His ultimate is called "Surprise Present"; Sampo can be called a master of the element of surprise as he often appears suddenly without anyone suspecting him to---the present can also be something unexpected and weird (like a RICKROLL) which gives off MAJOR Masked Fools vibes…

Kit: Why is his element Wind?

Kit: Why is his path Nihility? @gachagen pointed out that Nihility characters hide secrets (Welt, Pela, Silver Wolf, Kafka). For my own observation, Nihility states that the universe is meaningless while Elation states that the universe is one big joke; both paths seem to infer that the universe has little meaning…

Kit: Half his Eidolons are about his scamming business and the other half are about… love and enthusiasm; both aforementioned concepts seem to call back to the Masked Fools and Aha the Elation…

Achievements: Versatile Joker is a hidden achievement until it is unlocked… does this fact and the achievement itself indirectly infer to Sampo's secret connection to the Masked Fools and Aha the Elation?

Missions: Besides Pela, Sampo is the only other 4-star character from Jarilo VI who does not have a companion mission yet

Character Traits: He BOWS like an actor (as seen in the Jarilo VI Trailblaze Mission), as if he is bowing for his PERFORMANCE

Character Traits: If I had a penny for every time Sampo was aware that he was being watched like how Aha did in the Simulated Universe (Jarilo VI quest conclusion, Eyes of the Prey light cone), I'd have two pennies… which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice…

Hello. I'm sorry if this is sudden but I was wondering if you took story requests and if you do, could you make a platonic Dan heng IL story with the reader being the child of his previous incarnation and with the reader still being quite young and Jing Yuan is the one to tell Dan Heng about them even though he's only met them a couple and doesn't know them personally, but Jing Yuan felt like Dan Heng had the right to know about the reader especially after the reader had an encounter with Blade. (If this is too much or if you don't do requests that's completely understandable and I wish you a good day/afternoon and or night😊)

Let's think about you being a confused and lost child, loosing your memories so you don't really remember your parents or where you came from. You just suddenly woke up and with the guidance of the general Jing Yuan. He explained he knew your family and they left you under his guidance. He's been your support since, you're about the same height as Bailu but much younger, you're around 12 years old? Maybe 13? You can't really remember your age but that doesn't matter much right now.

You being with Jing Yuan all the time you get to meet interesting people, first it was a man named Blade who kept looking at you for some reason before Jing Yuan ordered the guards to take him away.

Another were a group of adventurers, they called themselves the Astral Express. A young woman named march 7th who loved to play with you while the two older men named Mr. Yang and Caelus spoke with Jing Yuan.

The last person you encountered was a man who seemed to give familiarity to you, you never met this man but the way he looks at you while you're tending to Jign Yuan you can't seem to look away.

"The general is in a stable condition, I would advise you all to let him have his rest. Y/n will be keeping an eye on him while I treat all of your wounds please follow me"

The group leaves you alone to Jing Yuan except for one, it's the strange man who won't stop staring

"Are you in need of something Mister?" You look at him with confusion before he shakes his head, apologises and closes the door

"Hello Y/n" he watches you stare at the the door before you turn back to him with an irritated expression

"Hello General, you seem to be in a good mood. I'd prefer if you don't recklessly lose your life again please" Jing Yuan has gotten used to your scolding and only finds it comical

"Oh you wound me my dear y/n. After taking you under my wing, you treat me like this. You don't even call me father" he fakes a tear, "Okay old man" you responded which seems to have hit him harder than Phantylia. (You know those anime clips of a character getting stabbed with an arrow that says airhead or something? Yeah he got hit like that but it says Old man instead)

"Anyway how are you doing? Do you need any pain medication, any areas where I need to look at?" Jing Yuan made sure to ease your worries before you had other questions.

"That man..with the long black hair and blue horns, do you know him? He seems oddly familiar but I don't remembermeeting him.." you asks Jing Yuan while grabbing the freshly brewed tea. What you did not know was that Jing Yuan looked at you from behind with a saddened look "He's an old friend of mine, well his previous incarnation..your father" and it sunk in

Old memories seemed to have flooded your memories and before you could drop the tray of tea Jing Yuan has stood up and caught it before you could hurt yourself

"My father???" Jing Yuan looks up to find Dan Heng staring at the two

"Dan Heng meet Y/n, Dan Feng's child" the two of you were staring at each other "I was planning to tell you both this at another time, but the phantylia battle has taken a toll on me, how about you get to know each other" Jing Yuan pushes you towards the tall man, he looks at you curiously and you feel a thump below you

*Jung Yuan laughs* "You must have grown your horns and tail the moment you saw your father"

"I'm not their father" / "Jing Yuan not now" he continued to laugh at the both of you.

Description: Hello. I'm sorry if this is sudden but I was wondering if you took story requests and if you do, could you please make a platonic Dan Heng story with the reader being the child of his previous incarnation Dan Feng by using his own DNA along with a normal woman's, the reader's existence was kept top secret and no one really suspected anything because the readers appearance was more human than Vidyadhara, and they were only a baby when everything happened so they didn't really get the chance to know their father. I was also kind of inspired by the 1.5 quest with the heliobi and the reader goes through a similar situation to Bailu but the team saw some of the reader's childhood memories which weren't the happiest.

Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with an anonymous researcher, we thank them for their contributions. I definitely didn't forget about the Dan Heng part of this story... nope. I still like how this came out though, and if you'd like you can request a part two.

Caelus was a little surprised to get a message from the general, asking the ghost hunting squad to meet him at a certain address. For one, the general was giving them free reign with the Helobi situation, secondly if there was an issue he would surely post on teh forum, and lastly Caelus didn’t recognize the location.

Preparing for a trap, the squad arrived at the location. It was a private residential area that Sushang led them to. The trailblazer knocked on the door as the other three anxiously waited behind him. Huohuo kept looking round for an ambush, while Sushang held her sword tightly and Guinaifen stayed close behind him.

Jing Yuan opened the door with a tired smile and ushered them in. He took them to a living room with tea and sat them down.

“I need your help.”

“If you don’t mind me asking, general,” Guinaifen asked, “why didn’t you just make a post?”

“Ah, well, this mission is a bit more sensitive and cannot be reported on, even if you twist the truth in your post.”

“Is it about Y/n?” Huohuo asks.

The other three ghost hunters turn to her in confusion as she slaps a hand over her mouth.

“Yes. I believe they’ve been possessed.”

“Who’s Y/n?”

Jing Yuan shifted awkwardly, clearing his throat and taking a sip of his tea. Huohuo also hid behind her cup, avoiding everyone else’s gaze as they looked between the two.

“Everything I’m about to tell you,” Jing Yuan sighed, setting down his cup, “is incredibly confidential, and the only reason I’m sharing this is because I believe it will help you save them.”

This Helobi dimension was… nice, oddly so. All of the other Helobi dimensions were dark and gray, with a blue tint from the lights. It was eerie, as expected. So thai was even more unsettling.

Everything was bright and colorful; they were in a garden on a bright sunny day.

“Isn’t this… I feeling like I’ve seen this place before,” Shushang mumbled as they looked around.

“I have made my decisions,” Jing Yuan’s stern voice boomed across the garden.

The four rounded a high section of bamboo to find Jing Yuan standing in front of a few Vidyahara’s. They all seemed on edge, the Vidyahara’s were scowling and the general’s shoulders were clearly raised.

Cautiously, the ghost hunters shuffled around to get a better view.

“That’s Y/n,” Huohuo whispered, pointing at a young child Jing Yuan had pressed against him.

The child’s ears were covered by Jing Yuan as the elders tried to convince the general to hand them over.

“I will not allow you to punish them for the sins of their father,” the general practically growled, being careful not to raise his voice.

He’d tried sending them off, but the elders had gotten in his way. So instead he was using his body to shield them as much as possible.

Y/n turned their head and noticed the group of ghost hunters. Their eyes widened and they buried themself closer to Jing Yuan.

“They should not even exist!” One of the elders yelled.

Jing Yuan gnawed at the inside of his cheek. He was in no position to argue with them about that, it was a matter of the Vidyadhara culture after all. Dan Feng had always been one to help others, and so when someone had approached him about the viability of a Vidyadhar/Xianzhou native hybrid for interspecies couples, he’d been open to the idea. He was the high elder, it was his responsibility to make decisions in the best interest of the Vidyadhara and the relationship with the Xianzhou.

The first test was not supposed to work nearly as well as it did, a human embryo with Vidyadhara DNA should not have developed as well as it did, but it did.

Their gestation period was nearly as long as a Vidyadhara rebirth cycle, out running both the scientist’s life and Dan Feng’s.

“We should have terminated this experiment after Dan Feng’s execution!”

“I will not comment on the cultural significance of this, however I will not allow you to speak about my charge like that, much less in front of them!”

A quiet sniff came from in front of him.”

“What do we do?” Guinaifen asked. “We’ve never been in someone’s memories before.”

“This isn’t their memories,” Huohuo whispered back, “this is just an illusion created by the Hellobus.”

Caelus stepped forward, catching Y/n attention. Their eyes were red and teary as they sniffed and hiccuped, clingy to Jing Yuan. No one else seemed to notice him, so he stepped forward again.

That caught the attention of the Vidyadhara who snapped their gaze towards him. He shifted his grip on his bat, ready for a fight, but the elders turned to Y/n instead.

“I mean really, why are you even alive?”

“I don’t…” a soft voice spoke up, muffled by Jing Yuan’s uniform. “I don’t know.”

“Why do you need a reason to live?” Caelus asked.

“You’re just a burden. Most of your kind doesn’t even know you exist, and those that do hate you. You’ll never be a regular Xianzhou native. You will outlive everyone you lov-”

Caelus slammed his bat into the elders head, cutting him off.

The man stumbled back before turning back into a Helobus as the other illusions disappeared in blue wisps. Around them the garden turned into a dark street on the Luofu. Shushang grabbed the small Y/n and brought them back to the other two as they continued quietly sobbing while Caelus captured the Hellobus.

“I-It’s okay,” Huohuo tried to comfort them, her own eyes welling with tears.

Guinaifen pulled them into a tight hug, letting the young hybrid sob into the performer's shoulder.

“Hey,” Caelus called softly.

He crouched down to Y/n’s level as they hiccuped and sniffled, pulling slightly away from Guinaifen. The trailblazer handed the captured Helobus to Huohuo, then turned his attention to the frightened child.

“Y/n, right?”

They nodded, rubbing the tears from their eyes. Caelus grabbed their hand and used the hem of his shirt to dry their tears.

“It’s scary not knowing anything about yourself, isn’t it?”

“Ye-yes,” they hiccuped.

“You didn’t answer my question before. Why do you need a reason to live?”

“Because… I just do.”

“Then, how about we pick something?”

The world around them began to disintegrate without the Helobus free.

“How about…”

“Dan Heng?” Caelus called, knocking on the archive door.

“Come in.”

Caleus slid the door open, and the man looked up from his computer. Standing in his doorway was not Caelus but rather an unfamiliar child who looked to be a similar age to Yanqing. The kid shifted awkwardly, looking back at Caelus who gently nudged them forward.

Dan Heng turned his chair around and made his way over, causing Y/n to press themself back against Caelus. He stopped.

“You must be Y/n.”

“Yes sir.”

Y/n’s hand twisted their sleeve awkwardly as Dan Heng extended a hand. They hesitantly took it.

“Would you like to look through the archives? I could use some help filling in the information about the Luofu.”

They looked back at Caelus who shrugged, then turned to Dan Heng.

“Okay.” They stepped towards the younger man and followed him towards the computer. “Are you…” Dan Heng stopped flipping through the archive. “Are you my dad?”

“No, but,” he looked thoughtful for a moment, “I could be your brother?”

A wide grin spread across their face as they nodded happily. “Yes please!”

And I have Clara, gepard, and bailu from standard (every five star I have is e0 minus trailblazer) I've had an account since Kafka release, but haven't started playing religiously until Argenti.

oh trust me anon, it isnt weird AT ALL. i never realized it but i noticed recently that i never had much characters or even weapons/lightcones. i always have many copies of a three or a four star and mainly tend to switch between the very few characters that i built either they be 4* or 5* or the standard characters that are considered “bad” by the meta.

i used to go with kaeya in co-ops bc he was my only built cryo, no one complained. i used to go with lumine, no one complained. i used to go with even barbara as a healer or diluc because i was building bennett at the time — no one really complained. even now on hsr, i have welt, bronya (just got her recently), blade, jing yuan, lunae and argenti (+free ratio). i have few 5* too and it isnt weird at all, luv. dont worry

Honkai Star Rail: Revenge of the Preceptors

((Hey guys! I meant to make this post MONTHS back, but real life happened and I wasn't able to focus until now.

As a refresher, this post is a part of a series where I analyze part of the Vidyadhara high elder lore and try to make sense of it. I think this will be the last post on this topic for a while until Mhoyo decides to give us more info.

So, uh... Dan Feng is Anakin Skywalker exp.

No, no, I'm completely serious. Several months back Hoyolab posted this comic called the Tale of the Vidyadhara, it summaries Dan Feng's story as well and includes a few lore bombs. And I as I was reading I was struck as to how similar Dan Feng was to Anakin Skywalker.

Conceived of the force.

Chosen one meant to bring balance to the force.

A hero of the Republic, with almost unlimited force potential; who fell to the dark side and caused the near destruction of the Jedi Order. Bonus points for fighting with the council all the time.

So yeah, Dan Feng is Anakin Skywalker exp. But besides that, Mhoyo reviled two interesting pieces of information in this comic.

#1 There's a chosen one.

In the comic strips above we learn that Dan Feng was considered some kind of chosen one, someone who was supposed to endless hatching rebirth of his people. But what if I were to tell you that we've heard about the "chosen one" two different times before this comic was released.

The first time was during the main quest, when little past Dan Feng was talking to his teacher. (source)

The second time is in the Preceptor Assembly Chronicle Fragment (source).

At first I thought the chosen one was the high elder, or someone meant to become the high elder (especially with the Undestroyed Letter saying that Bailu was "not chosen by selection"). However, there seems to be some sort of chosen one thing going on. Which then begs the questions, is this a prophetic thing where it was foretold long ago? Or is this something the preceptors made up on the spot once they saw how powerful Dan Feng was at birth?

If this is some sort of prophecy then were did it come from, and who said it? I for one would LOVE to know which one of these bowling pins thought it would be a good to tell a child that they were destined to save their entire race from the cycle of rebirth. I'm sure that would cause no problems what so ever.

#2 High Elder Eggs.

Remember in part 2 I was loosing my mind over the high elder succession process? Jury is still out on that, but I think we may have an idea of how someone is chosen.

Earlier in the comic we are giving this lovely sentence-

It's talking about Dan Feng and how his egg bears the power of the high elder, and might become the next Imbibitor Lunae. Notice the wording here. They say his egg is different from MOST others, not others, but different from MOST meaning that it's special, but not that special. I feel like it's implying while it's not common, eggs do pop up from time to time with the power of the high elder. Now if there's any conditions an egg has to meet, or if there's any patterns that could tell us which egg will develop into an high elder; I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see what mhoyo throws at us.

HI THERE! IM BACK FROM MY TRIP! And holy moly i didnt missed a lot???? (i think..? I’ll have to read back your post but i want to send an ask now!)

First, love the new theme btw. Yaoshi is also my fav aeon from the aeons we currently know! They are so pretty and divine and i did have a huge stupid smile when Yaoshi kissed us in the simulated universe THEY JUST WANTED US TO STAY SAFE!!!!!!! I sometimes wonder if Hoyoverse is just building them up to be someone you should hate just to make plot twist that turns out, them just simply doesnt know the horrible results their actions does. They do it with good intention but didnt know the results would be bad. But i honestly like their ambiguous morality that hoyoverse have for most of the aeons because well they’re aeons they’re gods ofc they wont follow human morality.

Second, your second oc you have rn is pretty interesting. So i have QUESTIONS!

1. What do they look like? Ik that you said you’re not finished with their design but are they like in a child/teen body but has the mentality of an adult? (Something similar to bailu i guess)

2. What are their element?

3. What does the other aeons think of Ambrose? Like ‘why the hell does Yaoshi have a little human with them’

4. Is Lan and by extension the Xianzhou Alliance aware of Ambrose’s existance and special connection towards Yaoshi? since their relationship with the said Aeon isnt the typical relationship an emanator and aeon would have (i hc that Yaoshi is known to particuraly have a good relationship with their emanators but Ambrose is noticably their favourite one child)

Thirdly, can i just say something? Since i get busy a lot, I dont get to instantly play the new update which sadly leads me to be easily spoiled. Case in point, Tingyun infamous neck snap. I was just casually scrolling on youtube when i saw ‘Tingyun neck snapping in 4 languages’ Like wth youtube!? I try to just forget about it but the mind could never. By the time i do get to play and get to play the quest, i already knew her fate and just keep giving her the side eye. Ik her fate but idk the reason and stuff leading up to it. It was an interesting experience to say the least

Lastly, i am proud to say that i have FINALLY done Dan Heng IL companion quest and have researched enough that i can FINALLY continue on the brainrot i keep talking about, i might finish it this week if i can manage my time better but we’ll see. So keep your eyes wide open!

i agree!!!! you cannot call an aeon "good" or "evil." none of them are either of those things. good and evil are just human perceptions of morality, and divine beings like aeons cannot be placed into those human boxes (which is why i think the xianzhou's attitude towards yaoshi is so. odd. bro it was YOURRRR ancestors who looked for THEM!!!! THEY did not look for YOU ALL!!!!!! YOU GUYS looked for THEM!!!!! and hyv really wants me to think yaoshi is the "villain" here HELP AKJSJSGJUFBAJ) AND YAOSHI KISSING US CRIES SOBS SCREAMS they have such a gentle and nurturing soul in my brain. it is so hard for me to look at them and think "yeah that's a villain" THEY'RE NOT CRIES

i don't know if i prefer the idea of yaoshi being completely 100% aware of the consequences of their blessing, or being completely unaware and being so consumed by their path that they cannot see the harm they're doing. i think both interpretations have their own appeal. the second one is definitely more agonizing, though. either way, i do not see the abundance as a villain personally. aeons are not human. human morals cannot be applied to them.

and as for ambrose--

ambrose is, physically, a young adult! a very young adult. think eighteen or nineteen. i want them to be chronologically older than most people on any of the xianzhou alliance's ships, though, so i am working on an explanation for why their mara is less severe and has not completely consumed their consciousness.

i think they're either physical, fire, or imaginary. i haven't decided yet. i'm open to suggestions.

this is SO funny and i love thinking about this. i think most of the aeons were like... what the fuck. What Is That. why does yaoshi have a little human. what the fuck. i think nous would get along w/ them despite nous' involvement with the xianzhou; ambrose sought to be freed from the limitations of mortal comprehension in order to learn more and see beyond their home world, after all. and really, i don't think nous would give a FUCK about the conflict between the hunt and the abundance. they don't fucking care bro they are more concerned with other things LMAOOO. ambrose clashes really badly with nanook because they have a deep set love for humanity and the universe, whereas nanook... does not. the child of abundance, ambrose, does not like the destruction at all so they are ALWAYS going around and eliminating the antimatter legion when they can. IX could not care less about them rip..... IX's apathy is a stark contrast to ambrose's infinite kindness and passion for existence. in general, ambrose doesn't seek out any of the other aeons except nous. nous and yaoshi are the only ones they really talk to.

I AGREE I AGREE i think yaoshi is one of the aeons who really likes their emanators! ambrose in particular is like an extension of themselves (perhaps this could contribute to why their mara is less severe? ambrose is but an extension of their aeon, after all. their aeon's power probably does not hurt them as bad as it does to those who do not share that kind of bond with yaoshi; i think yaoshi can literally FEEL when something is not right with ambrose and vice versa. like, they share a sort of metaphysical bond). lan knows about this, and therefore, so does the xianzhou alliance. ambrose is regarded as an enemy, a thing that needs to be eliminated from the universe... even though they did nothing wrong. ambrose honestly doesn't care because fuck it, you know? there is no point in lamenting the loss of potential allies when those potential allies seem to vehemently hate their parent... but ambrose has learned from yaoshi to have love for every living thing in the universe, so the hate is very one-sided. they are not just a pathstrider. they are an emanator. they cannot emanate their parent's will and strength if they are hateful. so, they have a gentle and tender love for life and that does include the xianzhou alliance. the alliance sees their softness as patronizing, unfortunately. ambrose avoids lan like the fucking PLAGUE because they know that lan would absolutely take any given opportunity to remove them from the universe, and yaoshi would absolutely come to their aid if they sensed that ambrose was in danger. and ambrose cannot be responsible for aiding the hunt in eliminating the abundance. if they survived, and if yaoshi happened to... not survive, they would not be able to live with themselves. so they don't bother trying to make amends with the xianzhou or lan.
