The first question this reddit post made me ask was “why the fuck would you have an ex be part of your bridal party under any circumstances,” but when I got to this paragraph:

the part of my brain that generates romcom plots was like, okay. Romcom about a long weekend joint bachelor/bachelorette trip in which the future bride & groom are just the absolute nicest, chillest, coolest people you can imagine — the kind of people who genuinely want to stay friends with their exes, and do so successfully.

So successfully, in fact, that both bridal parties gradually realize, over the course of the weekend, that they are all exes of either the bride or the groom. For values of “ex” that range from “pretend married in the sandbox in kindergarten” to “seriously dated for multiple years and might have proposed if not for a job offer that took them out of the country.”

Now the various members of the bridal party are torn. What does this mean? Should they try to stop the wedding? Who has the strongest prior claim on either the bride’s or groom’s affections? Is this a cry for help? Is this a weird coincidence? Is this a long con on the part of the happy couple to set up all their exes with each other? Will the lone enby in the group ever come up with a better term than “groomsperson”?

Anyway I would watch this movie. Is Jenny Slate looking for a project right now?

Been having Secretly Smart Steve thoughts except it's less that his intellect is a secret and more that nobody ever noticed lmao

The initial thought for this is based on my mom's stories about acting like a ditzy airhead in high school but then graduating with honors

Within five minutes of walking into high school Steve definitely clocked that being cool was more important than being smart right? So he didn't really let on that he was good at class stuff and just let people think he was a simple jock

And Steve graduating isn't a huge thing cuz it happens during UD stuff which means they all miss graduation ceremony and just get their degrees later, so it's not like anyone saw the honors tassels that steve was given to wear with his grad gown

And the first real hint is Lucas trying to make a basket and getting frustrated. And Steve is like "here I'll show you" and proceeds to make every throw he makes from anywhere on the court and when Lucas asks how the fuck he does that Steve shrugs and is like "well, i mean, its all angles man"

Later Mike and Will are working on an egg drop project (you know the ones) and getting worked up cuz the eggs keep cracking. Steve has been watching TV or something the whole time and outta nowhere is like "yall are missing shock absorption and proper wind resistance, duh"

Nancy is trying to decode some number based cipher for fun but it's becoming rapidly Not Fun and Steve looks over her shoulder for like two seconds and goes "group the numbers into twos, subtract 18 from each, and then it's the alphabet letter based on the number" and then just walks off

Dustin is taking an engineering class and is having trouble building a bridge cuz it keeps collapsing when he sends a hot wheels car over it. Steve tells him he needs more load-bearing beams and to distribute the weight evenly and Dustin is surprised when it works

And, of course, Eddie sees all of this so one day when Max or Erica ask for help with some geometry homework he takes the worksheet they give him and immediately passes it along to Steve, waves off their disbelief, and sits all smug while Steve explains concepts they'd been missing entirely

On the way to pick up the crumbl cookies of the week, you were already plotting. Sukuna’s usual complaints—how the cookies were too sweet, how the hype was overrated—played like clockwork. He always had something to say, and you always dragged him along anyway. But this time, you had a plan. A little experiment to mess with him while still having some fun.

“You know, I’m convinced these cookies are gonna rot my teeth,” Sukuna grumbles, eyes fixed on the road, voice dripping with annoyance. “But I guess I’ll take you. Only because I’m sick of hearing you talk about that stupid cookie of the week. Weird-ass name, too.”

You chuckle at his antics, already formulating your scheme. What if you tested how fast he could buckle your seatbelt? It was practically a ritual by now—Sukuna always leaned over and buckled you in without a word. But this time, as he ranted about overly sweet desserts and dumb cookie names, you’d take advantage of the distraction and try to beat him to it. See if he’d notice. See if you could win just once.

“Trust—it’s all worth it. I can’t study without it. It’s like my new Celsius,” you tease. “Bet you secretly love them too. You’re just too proud to admit it.”

Sukuna huffs, pulling into the parking lot like he’s bracing for war instead of picking up cookies. “Whatever. Let’s just get this over with.”

You both walk in, the smell of warm sugar hitting you instantly. As Sukuna pulls out his wallet and pays, you glance over at him, a spark of mischief lighting behind your eyes. Your plan was in motion now, and you were ready to see if you could finally beat him at his own game.

He finally grabs the box of cookies from the employee, still muttering complaints about the sweetness and how everyone’s “weirdly obsessed with these damn things.” You walk out next to him, the sugary scent drifting from the box, trailing behind you in the warm parking lot air. Your heart beats a little faster, anticipation buzzing in your chest.

As you reach the car, you move casually toward the passenger side—but instead of sliding in like usual, you pause. Subtle. Intentional. You open the door and sit, but your hand hovers near the seatbelt. You can hear him settling in, adjusting the box onto the center console, keys jingling as he starts the ignition.

Now or never.

You reach for the seatbelt quickly, trying to clip it in before he notices. But—dammit—before you can even click it, a familiar hand sweeps across your chest, grabbing the strap with practiced ease and snapping it into place.

Click.

You blink. “Seriously?”

Sukuna doesn't even look at you. One hand on the wheel, the other flicking the AC dial. “What?”

“I was trying to beat you.”

“You’re slow.”

You glare at him playfully, but he just smirks, the faintest smugness tugging at the edge of his mouth. “Next time,” you mutter.

“Sure,” he replies, the car already rumbling beneath you as he pulls out of the lot. “You keep trying, sweetheart. Maybe one day I’ll let you win.”
