season 5 episode 3 of camp camp was amazing, actually

okay so i didn't really like season 5 episode 1, and episode 2 while better, was pretty mediocre to me. Nothing funny, nothing that really moved character interactions forward (besides the slip that david is upset gwen isn't a counselor), some stuff that felt out of character (david doesn't seem the type to worry if he's a good counselor or not so much as worry about literally anything else), and some stuff that was supposed to be funny but was actually unfunny and out of character (the campers choosing to try to open the freezer before even letting anyone know about the cave in). It really was just okay, and only that good bc i love anxious!david

episode 3, however, was absolutely wonderful.

on one hand, you have some of the greatest jokes of the series (david switching over to word associations after explaining exactly nothing, the cut back to the boys where david is taking notes on something nurf is saying, nerris immediately thinking someone born in 1985 must be dead now) (though i'm not exactly a fan of the implication that cj is a child predator being played as a joke).

On the other hand, you have honestly one of the best portrayals of what its like being a tween/young teen girl in media.

ered doesn't know what she's doing, and feels unprepared by her two dads to become a woman, so she goes to gwen to ask for advice, who she thinks is a cool adult woman but is also just so happy to be thought of as cool that she's not even sure what she's agreeing to do. ered asks all the questions she hasn't been able to ask, and gwen realizes quickly she doesn't have all the answers, but still fakes it anyway.

nerris goes off and finds the diary of a kid named jessie, and as they read it they feels seen in a way they never have before. they read more and falls in love with jessie, only to realize that jessie was a kid in 1985, and concludes jessie must be dead by now.

nikki ends up at a spa, and tries new "girly" things, that she previously derided, and finds them enjoyable. once she sees the sum of all the ways she's changed herself, she panics, and realizes she's looking like what she used to hate. how can she still be herself if she's enjoying this?

nikki and nerris go running to ered and gwen for advice, and gwen says "goddammit". ered, realizing that gwen doesn't know anything either, takes helping the younger two on her own. she tells nerris that feeling lost and unsure doesn't mean you're alone, that we've all felt that way. she tells nikki that while its okay to question who she is sometimes, she can be whoever she wants to be and the questioning doesn't make her any less herself.

and it's just chef's kiss. nerris getting a first(?) queer love and realizing it's not gonna happen and not knowing how to handle the heartbreak because it's their first time experiencing it. nikki exploring femininity and realizing it can be enjoyable, even if its not what she usually does, just for her own sake. ered realizing older women don't have it figured out either, and even if she doesn't know everything, she's still gonna step up and help the younger two out. i just love it.

it's literally what becoming an older girl/enby is like. trying to figure it out, helping others try to figure it out, realizing those older than you haven't figured it out either.

David and Gwen: David was the kid who fell hard for the DARE program propaganda and for ages firmly believed weed was a gateway drug and could kill you from one joint. It takes a lot of convincing from Gwen (and later Max) for him to realize weed is kinda safe. Still refuses to even try it until it's legalized recreationally. Gwen smoked in college to relieve stress and have fun but hasn't smoked since because she lost her plug. Starts smoking again when Max tells her that the Wood Scouts are selling

Max: Resident Camp Stoner. Started smoking occasionally at 14 and then every day when covid lockdown started and he was stuck at home with his parents. It's mostly him "self medicating" his depression and having a higher tendency towards addiction (addict father, ADHD and BPD). Smokes regularly for pretty much the rest of his life. Has One (1) tolerance break before he gets his top surgery. He doesn't exactly take great care of himself

Neil: Only takes edibles (smoking isn't exactly Great for his asthma) and only occasionally. Until he's 18, he only really gets high at camp because he doesn't want either of his parents to know or find out. As an adult, he gets high for parties and concerts with Max (to keep himself from having meltdowns or panic attacks) and for hanging around at home. When he lives with Max, he gets high about once or twice a month to relax

Nikki: SOCIAL SMOKER ONLY. She's down to do whatever with her best friends (this is how Max doesn't even have to talk her into trying shrooms or other drugs with him. She just loves adventures) but never thinks about it herself. She gets even more energetic when she's high, somehow

Preston: Prefers wine (it's fancier and he's Italian) but likes smoking too. Varies throughout his life but he enjoys getting high with friends or if he needs a creative boost

Harrison: For the longest time he was scared of trying any drugs until the others peer pressured him into it. Once he gets over the Catholic guilt, he has fun and likes that it lets him unmask a bit. They have a rule that he's not allowed to do magic while high. He can't control it very well

Nerris: Mostly does edibles, only rarely smokes. Xe doesn't like the smell. Likes going on "adventures" (aka to the store, running around town, going to the park) while high with friends

Misc: Nurf eventually tries a little bit of everything (even more so than Max, who at least avoids the hard stuff) before quitting anything stronger than weed. He focuses more on his career as a prison therapist but still occasionally smokes. Ered rarely got high before it was legalized because Cop Dads made that difficult, and then she only smokes to Look Cool. Space hotboxes its helmet whenever it smokes. Max has definitely stolen said helmet many times to hoxbot himself

The Wood Scouts and the Flower Scouts originally had a bitter rivalry over who got to be the Lake Lilac dealer, until they realized they have different clienteles because the Flower Scouts only sell edibles and the Wood Scouts only sell smokables. They cut a deal so the Flower Scouts can buy bud cheap to bake into cookies or brownies and the Wood Scouts get cheap edibles

QM let him stay at camp since he couldn't go back into society like ... this gwen , mummy - got tangled in some wires at her dad's show and she died when a speaker fell on her. her dad held a funeral for her , but she woke up in sleepy peak after it. cj , vampire - died from supplement overdose , something to do with his red blood cells idk he's a vampire now QM , goblin - he was born this way cameron campbell , human - didn't die ! max , zombie - died in the middle of the night when a car ran him over. they didn't see him on the road neil , ghost - died while having a terrible panic attack which led to a heart attack nikki , werewolf - died when she got lost in the woods and a pack of wolves ripped her apart ( she put him a good fight ) harrison , wizard - died in an illusionist trick , he got cut in half

Not a nerf gun. It was an accidental shooting that involved a paintball gun. She and Riley were recruited (more like forced) to join in a paintball war. Her dad took Riley on his team and Jase took her. They were in the middle of explaining the rules and she was messing with her gun because a ball did get stuck. The gun went off and Riley had a look of betrayal. She immediately started running and Riley ran after her.

preston: french toast and bagels with cream cheese. he really likes blueberry bagels and blueberry muffins. he's a breakfast food kinda guy

nerris: pizza. only cheese pizza, though, she doesn't like pepperoni. their dad always orders one during long dnd sessions that take up most of the evening. she likes dominos especially because their dad orders the cookie brownies too when they get dominos

In canon the kids just think he's neat. Bernard very much still has a youthful spirit and enjoys playing with the two, snowball fights outside, and nurf guns inside.. cool ol' uncle burnie

The night before Christmas, Winston and Missy were too tired to wrap the kids their presents only to wake up with it neatly wrapped under the tree and a sleeping Bernard on a couch with scissors, ribbons and wrappings beside him.

On the last day of Christmas he actually behaves very well. Silvia was waiting for a prank, only for him to be very sincere and soft the whole day... She asked him "why" when the village was gathered around a big Christmas tree at the square, and Bernard just... Admits that he appreciates how much she puts up with him, and wanted Christmas to be good for all of them. He was overall grateful for her and her family taking him in and giving him a nice Christmas úwù it was a nice intimate moment and a side of Bernard that Silvia never got to see, so she just (+ friendship)

Harrison still has some magic in him but refuses to use it after disapearing his brother.

Family Friends (Dear Evan Hansen story)

Warning: slight angst, mention of self harm, and fluff

Evan Hansen and Jared Kleinman are family friends or that's what Jared always says. Jared usual calls his family friend and demands him to come over so they can smoke a joint and play Mario Kart. Evan always agrees so he doesn't have to bicker with his dirty minded and trash mouthed friend. Today Jared rang up Evan and like normal Evan answered with a sigh and decided today is the day he'd say no. "Jared I don't feel like getting high and playing Mario Kart okay!" He said with a annoyed and stern tone but on Jareds end was weird something unexpected. A quiet and broken sob came from Jareds end followed by his parents fighting in the distance. "Evan... Can I please come over?" Jared asked his voice breaking and scared and Evan knew he can't just let his family friend suffer. "Of course man pack a bag and I'll call my mom" Evan and Jared hang up and Evan called his mom to let her know. It took about ten minutes later and the door bell rang so Evan quickly ran to the door. As soon as he opened it his family friend engulfed the taller boy into a hug and almost knocked Evan onto the hardwood floor making the poor boy squeal in surprise. Evan made Jared hot coco and got him a snack while Jared sat on the couch trying to calm down. Evan sat next to his family friend and put his hand on the brunettes shoulder. "What happened Jare?" The blonde asked in worry for his shorter friend. Jared chuckled at the nickname his buddy gave him. "My dad saw my old scars from when I struggled with self harm." Jared looked at the blonde and Evan nodded in understandment. Jared managed to finish his story "he yelled at me and then my mom got involved. They started fighting and he said that I'm just asking for attention. My parents are already getting divorced it just feels like my fault." Jareds voice broke and he felt himself cry after explaining. Evan glanced at Jareds arm and sighed he hated that everyone shamed Jared for his struggles. Evan put his arm around his family friend and smiled softly. "I like your scars they are a beautiful part of you and you should embrace them." Evan squeezed his friends knee making the brunette giggle and pull his leg up away from the blonde. Evan chuckled, grabbed his friend, pulled the brunette on top of him, and wrapped his arms around him. Jared raised an eyebrow and gave Evan a look "this is a weird way to tell me your gay!" Jared laughed as Evan looked unamused and dug his fingers into his friends ribs. "ow you asshole!" Jared giggled and moved Evans hand away. Evan and Jared spent the rest of the day playing video games or watching movies hell Jared even started a pillow fight and a nurf war. Evan and Jared aren't just family friends they are best friends and neither of them would trade their friendship for the world! (But Jared will never admit it)

Now before we start i would like to adress some things:

the following parents won't be included in this plot bunny farm:

A. Mrs. Nurfington: there's no mention of Nurf's dad so he either dosen't know Nurf exists, compleatly abandoned Nurf or died and,since Nurf dosen't appear to have any relatives other than his mom who is in jail there would be no one left to raise Harry even if she did adopt him.

B. Gram Gram : ok based on the fact that Preston's parents are never mentioned they either died or Preston was an accidental & unwanted pregnancy. Preston, like Nurf, dosen't seem to have any other relatives aside from her and i'd imagine raising one kid is already hard enough for her as it is, she wouldn't be able to raise two.

C.Jermy's parents : ok, they would probably be able to raise him but....Holly shit! they low key look even more inbread than any purebloods in the Hp saga plus Jeremy is weird and gross and i'm pretty sure most of the fandom is not a fan of him so...no thanks.

D. Max's parents: they seem to be at best emotionally neglectfull and at worst abusive and since i don't have a clear reading on them, i decided to leave them out of this.

E. Cameron Campbell : who is not fit to raise anyone and wasn't even on the list. (that was only the best image i could find)

2. regardless on the idea chosen they must feature the following:

A. Harisson is a Squibborn (or in J*ke rowlling's words: Muggleborn): in "Mind Freakers" he casts a spell that causes Max to vomit a chain of tied up scarves & other magical items and in "Parents Day" his parents mention that "he made his brother dissapear" so claming that this nigga would be a muggle should he live in the Hp universe is....laughable at best. The others? Sure, they can be as muggleish as the person who writes the stories wants them to be but there's no freaking way that Harisson wouldn't be classed as a wizard.

B. Nikki has werewolf genes or the genes of some type of magical creature:

Nikki seems to have a unique bond with wild animals, even managing to tame an eagle named Timothy in "Scout's Dishonor." She also makes mention of her plan to possibly become the alpha of a wolf pack upon escaping the camp.

Nikki can speak a bit of squirrel, as shown in the episode "Squirrel Camp", but she is rusty and doesn't fully understand what is being squeaked.

In "Camporee" it is revealed that she is even capable of cross-species communication, by barking at a wolf to subdue it, then unleashing it on the Wood Scouts and Flower Scouts.

She has also been shown to exhibit dog/wolf-like traits, such as biting David's hand in "Escape from Camp Campbell", and barking & growling at Max when confronting him in "Camp Cool Kidz". In the hunt for Neil in "Reigny Day" she also declared she'd act like a bloodhound to search, getting down on all fours and sniffing the ground.

In "Reigny Day" Nikki is seen somehow telepathically communicating with David as he laments losing his award to Dolph. Specifically, she notes that "he really looks like Hitler." (Camp camp wiki)

She also seems to have a weird ass conection with nature, what with her needing a bag of dirt when she is forced to be away from it for long periods of time so, while she dosen't necessarily have to be a witch herself, there's no denying that she is defintly not 100% human either.

3.No reader-inserts, self-inserts or unhappy endings are allowed.

4.spanking, watersports, extremely underage ships or parent/child incest are only allowed if portrayed on a negative light.

5.Peter Petigrew and Dolores Umbridge must be bashed

6.Dumbledore must be gay and atracted to Grindewalt and Grindewalt alone.

7.poor grammar is not allowed (you don't need a beta but at least use grammarly some form of grammar corrector)

8. You are not allowed to bash Severus Snape, Sirius Black,Draco Malfoy or Remus Lupin

9.Hagrid can only be paired with Madame Maxine and no one else

10. Mad Eye Moody and Amelia Bones can't be paired with anyone

11. Minerva Mcgonagal can only be paired with Poppy Pomfrey or anyone on the staff that she never taugh herself.

12. Crabbe and Goyle can only be paired with Daphne Greengrass, Astoria Greengrass, Milicent Bulstrode, Susan Bones, Hannah Abbot, each other or an Oc.

Now with that said let's kick this off from worst to best:

Harisson's parents

Ok so i have seen a headcanon that the only reason why Harisson has his magician outfit is because his family is Amish, wich considering their reaction to his magic is very likely as i doubt they would ever consider buying the outfit for him so this would be the only way he would have acess to it.

Thus, whoever choses to write this fict will have to either been raised in an amish comunity or be extremely familiar with it for the fict to be accurate.

Now, i'd imagine that, prior to both Harisson and Harry having bounds of accidental magic they would be very good parents: kind,nurturing and all that jazz but once the acidental magic happens they would treat Harry just like they treat Harisson.

Meaning that, while Harry wouldn't be phisically abused or treated like a slave, he would be severely emotionally neglected and,most likely become extremely dependent on Harisson as he would be the only person in his family to show him even an ounce of affection.

Thus, this fict would most likely call for a softharry as i'd imagine this type of enviorement would make him latch out into anyone that gives him even an ounce of attention. This Harry would most likely be a Hufflepuff as being ignored would make him value kindness above anything else. Recomended ships would be : Cedric,Luna,Cho,either of the Weasley twins or Percy...or...pretty much any character you can think of that would be able to dott on him.

2.Stuart Houston:

Ok so...there's no confirmation that either Adolf or his dad are actually nazis despite Adolf himself being inspired by Hitler so it's up to the writer to make them nazis or not.

Regardless, I'd imagine that, if Harry were to be raised by him, he would, in his desperate need of parental aproval, grow up to be a text book definition of toxic masculinity, abhorring anything that could be considered unmainly so the whole fict would be about him learning to be more chill, wich would be very interesting,not gonna lie. This Harry would stick to his canon house as he would most likely value bravery above anything else. Recomended ships: Hermione, Luna, Ginny, Cho, Fleur, Charlie, Ron and Draco.

3.Candy:

Ok so unlike the two previous candidates, the problem with her wouldn't be anything she says but mainly...what she does. You see,anyone who watched the parents day episode would definetly see that she has a penchant of not keeping tabs on Nikki and the fact that she was not at all bothered by a shit ton of people seeing her having sex with Carl tells me that Nikki definetly saw her having sex on more than one time,plus her on/off relationship with her husband is not healthy for any child.

The writer would have to be familiar with how early exposure to sexually explicit content and parental fighting can affect a kid as Harry would grow up with alll the problems that early exposure to both may cause so...nedless to say, he would be a very problematic kid.

I'd imagine that he would end up sticking with his canon house and as for ships...well....i'd imagine he would date a shit ton of people so the sky is the limit.

4.Carl:

Ok so, now we are reaching the best parent candidates. So if Harry were raised by Carl we could get one of two outcomes,but regardless of wich is chosen, i have no doubt that Harry would grow up to be a ravenclaw:

A. Harry gets super into philosophy and bonds with Carl: so ...fuck this would be so boring! (heavily philosophical ficts are boring,at least to me). regardless, I'd imagine Harry would end up interested in magical philosophy and probably theorize that Voldy likeHitler, lives by a distorted version of Trotskyism and as for ships....uh...idk Luna???

B. Harry gets super into science and bonds with Neil and his mom: Now this would be interesting! I'd imagine that Harry would read upon a shit ton of magical theory and probably question a lot of the problematic views of the wizarding world and probably come across my conclusion that muggleborns=squiborns as well as inventing a shit ton of stuff to help make the lifes of wizards more easy as i'd imagine he would help Neil on more than one ocasion and eventually become an inventor himself. Recomended ships: Hermine or Percy Weasley.

5. Space kids parents : another ravenclaw Harry. I'd imagine Astronomy would become one of his best subjects and he would eventually grow up to teach the subject himself. Recomended ships: Luna,Draco,Hermione,Percy or Astoria.

6. Neris' Parents:

Ok so, however writes this one would have to be super into larping and RPG as i imagine that, if Harry were to be raised alongside Neriss he would play RPG and larp...like.....a lot! i'd imagine his entry into the wizarding world would be a lot like when Nico Di Angelo found out he was a demigod in the Percy Jackson series (only without the early loss of a loved one). This Harry would probably also stick with Gryffindor and the recomended ships would be: Ron, either of the Weasley twins, Luna, Ginny, Cho or anyone you can think of that would take to RPG and larping as much as Nerris does.

6.Agents Miller:

Ok so another Gryffindor Harry. This Harry would grow up to be into punk,skating and spying wich would make for a hella interesting story! i'd imagine he would have his hair dyed like Ered and be away less impulsive than he is canonically as i'd imagine his dad's would instill in him, the habit of think things trough as you can be a sucessfull agent if you are too impulsive so Sirius more likely wouldn't die!!!....or at least,not in the way he does on canon. Recomended ships: one of the Weasley twins, Ginny, Fleur or Charlie Weasley.

Ok ok. If I was realistically writing for the show? More Neil and Nerris interaction, maybe them playing more nerd games together and hanging out. They're such a cute dynamic 🩷 gay nerds. Also, an episode or at least one scene where Nerris actually gets called they/them or nonbinary. Or just all the episodes I get to write uses they/them for Nerris

More dadvid too, ofc. Maybe a father's day episode or smth where everyone gets to make cards or gifts to send home for their dads, with David trying to distract/entertain the campers that don't have dads or good dads (Max, Preston, Nurf i think) to make presents for. Episode ends with an "anonymous" father's day card left on David's bedside table

One. One "future" episode that is either Neil inventing, not a time machine, but a screen or projection or smth to "watch" the future in (even if it ends up only being a projection of what all the kids WANT their futures to be, so fans still get to theorize) or theyre all talking around the bonfire or smth imagining their future selves and lives, and Max goes last and his is the shortest/plainest because He's Suicidal and can't imagine himself living into adulthood

If I was being completely self indulgent- Maxneil episode where they start dating and go on a date and are gay. And also an episode with trans Max, somehow. OH MAYBE A COUPLE EPISODES EACH FOCUSING ON A DIFFERENT CAMPER AND THEIR HOME LIVES. I was almost hoping that's what season 5 would be. But like, an episode showing Neil's split custody arrangement between his divorced parents. Or Nerris running a campaign with their dad and his party. And of COURSE Max at home and we still only BARELY see his parents to highlight that even at home theyre mostly absent and neglect him. Just aighghu the Emotion.
