the best collab unit. period. it's not even close.

crystal li'l gau gau, henceforth referred to as "chibigau" because that is the community english translation adopted before there was an official translation and i like that name more, is a rare unit from the princess punt collab. this collab first appeared in the japanese version of the game, nyanko daisensou (aka BCJP), in 2013. it took 10 years to be added to BCEN (the worldwide release). this unit is the only reason people give a shit about it.

ramen cat is arguably the best meatshield currently in the game. at level 50 without talents, it has 28350 health, with effective 141750 health against angels. at level 50, chibigau has 27000 health, 135000 against black. ramen cat has a 3.87 second cooldown, which can be reduced to 2 seconds, the minimum possible cooldown, through two research up SM combos or one research up M combo. chibigau has a 2.2 second cooldown, which really doesn't even need reducing, it's so close to the minimum. it's effectively just a lower cooldown ramen, except for the trait targeting, which makes it just a better version of nono, the anti-black ramen, another collab unit (this time from merc storia).

when compared to eraser at the same level (chibigau does have a higher max level) it has 10k more generalist health, knockback immune, and a trait target to give it a specialist use. however, its damage is higher, which can make it harder to stall enemies, and it costs twice as much. still, not that expensive, and fully worth the price.

this is arguably the best meatshield in the game. its 2.2 second cooldown makes it better than ramen despite its lower health, its higher health makes it better than any eraser (although manic eraser's speed enters the conversation, chibigau's health, trait targeting, and dense meatshielding make it better), it's just factually superior to nono, what other good meatshields are there? boulder? use them both! it just works!

chibigau is the only reason princess punt has any degree of relevancy. not only is it one of the best anti-blacks in the game, it's one of the best meatshields in the game period. this is why we roll on princess punt babyyyyy

tl;dr: best meatshield in the game. also has an insanely busted anti-black niche. if you don't get this thing while you can, you're gonna regret it for the rest of your life.

Guess we can start with these ones above: the "NGE Star and Constellation Series 2" set, released in 2005 (the Yui mini figure on the left side is from Series 3, also released in 2005). Had always wanted to get some of these because they were space related, kinda? They are very cute and have good enough detail for the size too! But they are legit hard to find, specially unopened--That said, the one I really wanted was the Yui figure, if only because -as we all know- there's not much merch of her available.

Slightly related, the next items: "NGE Halloween Mini Display Figure" set, released in 2006. They are... SO CUTE!!! Love these so much, not just because they are Halloween themed (and I do love Halloween) but also because some GLOW in the dark and, well, they are just cute! Look at Asuka as a witch, Rei as a mummy, Misato as a vampire, and Maya... as... a Grim Reaper? Simply perfect, absolutely some of my favorite pieces.

These lil' cute fellas are the Evangelion Coo'nuts set, released in 2020. They look kinda like matryoshka dolls and are weighted at the bottom, so they balance and stand on their own (which is fantastic for figure collecting because you don't to worry about them falling at any given moment).

Now, everyone's favorite gremlins: The Battle Cats x Evangelion Collaboration set, released in 2019 (Battle Cats is also known as Nyanko Daisensou). These were released as gachapon prizes, so collecting them was kinda tricky if you bought them individually; thankfully they were sold together in certain places--Interestingly enough, the Shinji one was so popular and bought by itself so much, that when you found a set being sold... it'd be missing the Shinji figure (which is exactly what happened to me, and have been missing him ever since!!!).

To finish this first round, just a bunch of keychain charms, from the Keychain Figure Shin Seiki Evangelion 2 series, released in 1997. Now, what really got me interested in these -if you pay close attention- is that the Lilith charm... is mislabeled as 'Adam'; I've seen photos of it floating on the web for years, and was so curious about it--When I finally found it, I was so happy! However, the seller was only willing to sell one figure? So I had to persuade them to sell me the whole set (since I do find old eva merch to have a special kind of charm... HAHA). Battle cats! An army of cola-flavored gummy candy cats from one of my favorite mobile games. 

By the way, I'm happy to see it's already their 7th anniversary - this was one of the first mobile games I've downloaded when I arrived in Japan! Still makes me laugh a lot (and even after all those years, I have yet to beat all the stages...).

Battle Cats x Evangelion Crossover Has Big Nya Energy

  Sorry, Tim... we've got another Evangelion timeline for you.

  Strangely adorable tower defense game The Battle Cats (released in Japan as Nyanko Daisensou) is getting in the robot for a crossover with Neon Genesis Evangelion, and they aren't doing anything by halves. Limited-time maps and missions will let you battle Angels against the backdrop of Tokyo-3, with the help of Eva-fied kitties and the occasional actual Eva.

  To break the news, Battle Cats is launching two new PVs. Both feature "Cruel Angel's Thesis" singer Yoko Takahashi returning to perform the theme with new lyrics (all of which are "nya"). Kotono Mitsuishi (the voice of Misato) is also back to narrate the "Nyankogelion" previews.

    While The Battle Cats is available in territories outside Japan, there's no indication the collaboration will run simultaneously in other regions.

  The Battle Cats x Evangelion kicks off tomorrow and runs until August 1. The PVs will also begin airing in Japan tomorrow.
