I saw Wicked the movie (I had already seen the musical!) and now I got wizard of oz on the brain so here’s my pitch for a rise of the brave tangled dragons au
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are y’all seeing the vision??
#rotbtd#rise of the brave tangled dragons#wizard of oz au#wizard of oz rise of the brave tangled dragons au#wizard of oz rotbtd au#some of this is wizard of oz based while some is wicked based#like Jack as the scarecrow is because he and fiyero in wicked are both pretending to be self absorbed#pretend that fiyero was never with elpheba tho cus I don’t ship them#also Boq from wicked is not relevant here never happened here Astrid’s tin woodsman backstory is more akin to the og#Merida as Glinda is a strange choice I know but hear me out#so like instead of spoiled and getting everything she wants we know Merida works so hard for what she wants#so in this version she gets what she wants because she works so hard for it so she’s always getting what she wants because of all her work#thus when she gets paired with elpheba (Rapunzel) when she spent so long and hard on that essay and wanted her own room she’s so angry#so she’s not stuck up jsut frustrated that her work never pays off#she’s probably still popular jsut cus she’s impressive with all this hard work and the outcomes it brings#cough cough arrow in arrow in bullseye#Rapunzel as elpheba is less sassy and defensive and more#hmph! well if you’re gonna have an attitude so am I!#so like she’s playing tricks and goofing around and such so it’s all more lighthearted#once again Glinda and fiyero aren’t a thing here#Varian as Dorothy Made so much sense to me he is a little farm boy yall#Hugo is ozma cus obviously he has to be dating varian in every universe#gonna be drawing this in my sketchbook soon be prepared#also obviously Ozma is an iconic trans character so worry not Hugo is trans too#I haven’t decided if this au will just then be like var and Hugo are Dorothy and ozma but gender bent you know cus in cannon var and Hugo#are guys (and I headcannon them as trans guys so Hugo is trams like ozma just opposite direction)#or if I’ll gender bent Varian and Hugo for this lol#if I were to gender bend Varian and Hugo then they would be trans girls#cus when gender bending a trans character you’ve gotta keep them trans lol

IF YOU LIKE THIS ASOIAF CHARACTER, I THINK YOU’LL LIKE THIS FARSCAPE CHARACTER

tormented by a crazy ruthless woman in power
feels betrayed by a lover of a lower social status just trying to get by and gets real violent over it

Always survives despite all odds against him
If you like Joffrey Baratheon…I think you’ll like Dominar Rygel XVI (hear me out!)
Tumblr media
Absolute ruler who faces civil war
Wildly misogynistic weirdo
Weak grasp on morality
Turned into a violent, selfish asshole as a trauma response
Hates women yet his deepest, most profound and intimate relationships are with a woman he’s not even fucking
Remains selfish and violent throughout the story but also, if you talk shit about him i will throw hands
if you like samwell tarly…i think you’ll like Pilot.
Tumblr media
Couple of sweet fools
Underrated for being a bad ass
Intimate relationship with a Very Cool Lady From A Bad Situation (gilly/moya. moya is a living ship btw).
Just wants to be a nerd and hang with his gf (again, gilly and moya)
Doesn’t believe in himself the way he should

Tumblr media
Is he a hero? is he a villain? is he an anti villain? is he an anti hero? you decide!
loses his everloving mind after his brother dies
sad traumatic childhood backstory
an arc focused on what service and leadership means
[SPOILER REDACTED]
HE thinks he’s the straight man in a circle of freaks and he thinks this while being objectively the biggest freak there

just thinking again about the difficulty of achieving actual escape velocity from the womenswear standard of Pervasive Negative Ease…
#an extremely 2015 post brought to you by an extremely 2015 experience#namely 'someone i follow posting an outfit pic with vibes describable as ~dapperqueer~'#except that like. the trousers were by menswear standards pretty noticeably too tight#which is something i used to notice all the time with transmasc* outfit bloggers back in the day—#just that like‚ esp by comparison with the rest of the outfit‚ the pants would just be disproportionately painted on—#and like. idk. on an individual level you Gotta not hyperscrutinize people's individual choices. you just Gotta.#but systemically it just really points up like.#a way in which 'girls' get trained to shy away from ever wearing anything that might visually bulk up their body#such that their perceptions of what 'fit' means become totally skewed#by comparison with any standard that respects like. freedom of movement for both you and the fabric you're inhabiting#ditto the way so many knitters make these intensely Shaped and frankly shrunken sweaters#and like. idk. that's not my style‚ i love a good british-fisherman shapeless sack look‚ but you do you!#but like. do you not want‚ like‚ enough room to at least fit a shirt under??#but like. the body Must Be Contained.#anyway obviously it's hard bc like. lord knows with trans fashion you're always like. trying to strike a balance between things that Fit#vs things that like. seem to you to help create a gender-affirming visual illusion even if they're in material tension with your body#(and also like. 'nonbinary' isn't in fact 'just doing the Opposite thing'! the freedom to pick and choose is part of the point!)#but at the same time. on a broader level. Patterns Do Emerge…#anyway really i'm just mad bc i'm thinking abt like. clothes i bought in too small a size#bc of my bad mind-warping training#and how i'm STILL‚ even now‚ struggling to accept eg the birk size that all metrics agree i should be#because something in my brain is like. wow those sure are some boats down at the end of your hairy calves!#which is making me feel murderous bc like. i love my leg hair passionately actually! and i deserve to have room for my toes to wiggle!!#like. goddamn. can we take up space!!!#anyway. like i said. some *extremely* 2015 nonbinary feminism feels…#(probably a bad and humiliating post to make but what is a perblog for if not. bad and humiliating posts.)

Being Bisexual is sooo cool we can be any gender and be attracted to any gender any amount, we lovvvvve women and nonbinary people and men and even if we only ever date or fuck one of those we are still Bisexual. We aren't "half straight, half gay", because that's not how sexuality works. Sometimes it feels like we don't have our own community but tbh that's because, the Gay community? We in there. The Lesbian community? We in there. Trans community??? We in there!!!!!!!!!!!! Yippee!!!!!

Unhinged Luis simp confession -
So like I've been dying to just admit it but like I hated Krauser with every fiber of my being. All my fellow Luis lovers can agree but my partner just had to start sharing more stuff about him.
I ended up liking Krauser too ironically
Someone take re from me,,I got to many crushes
I’ve got something equally unhinged to admit,,,,,,,,,, I also was like, “eh, I don’t hate him (I honestly very rarely hate ANY character) but he’s far from a favourite” and then my friend started making fanart. And fics. And edits.
And I was like.
Ok Yknow what. Yeah he’s kinda cute.
Like damn king what’ve you got such a tiny waist for?????????? And what’ve you got such chubby cheeks for???????????? For OTHER MEN TO GRAB???????? 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

Being a trans masc/trans femme pair of siblings is funny bc you ask each other about how to do whatever gendered thing and the answer is always "How tf should I know?? I was bad at it, I quit."

A newborn baby girl will have to go through life with the wrong sex on her birth certificate after a registrar’s error, which her parents have been told they cannot change. Grace Bingham and her partner, Ewan Murray, were excited to register their first child at the Sutton-in-Ashfield Registration Office in Nottinghamshire last week. But, after nights of broken sleep, they failed to notice the registrar had written the wrong sex on the birth certificate until after it had been submitted. “We were horrified but assumed that, as we saw the mistake just a few seconds after it had happened, correcting it would be an easy matter,” said Murray. “But although the registrar apologised for her mistake – and the area manager also apologised – it turns out that birth certificates can’t be changed.”
this article is interesting because it demonstrates that cis people can very easily apply structural thinking to sex assignment - this couple immediately identifies that their daughter, having mistakenly been assigned male at birth by the registrar, will have administrative problems in employment, education, travel, and so on. they pretty adeptly identify the foundational role that sex assignment plays in the administrative and civil functions of a state, and how incorrect sex markers effectively produce a ‘rational’ reason for discrimination within these administrative and civil arenas:
The General Register Office (GRO), which is responsible for administering all civil registration in England and Wales, and the Home Office have both confirmed that Lilah’s birth certificate cannot be reissued, although an amendment can be made in the margin of the original document. But Bingham said this is not enough. “People reading a birth certificate might easily miss a tiny note in the margin – which means that Lilah could be regarded as male when she applies for school, her passport, for jobs – for everything that she needs a full birth certificate for.”
And given that this was published in The Guardian, this article makes zero mention as to why it’s impossible for this couple to receive an updated birth certificate with correct information (something the author notes was possible to do a year ago), but the reason is obviously transphobia.
Now one might ask why there’s no exception for cis people whose birth certificates were recorded incorrectly at birth, but this reveals the instability of cissexualism. How would you determine who is a cis person with a mistaken birth certificate, versus a trans person who wants to change their mistaken sex assignment record? Sure, you could say well, this is an infant, of course she’s “really” “biologically” female (something the parents argue in the article as grounds for having their child’s birth certificate re-issued), but 1) that certainly can’t be argued for in all cases, 2) 'biological sex' is understood by medical doctors as alterable through hormones and surgery, which trans people are often required to undergo in order to change their records, and 3) binary sex assignment is already imprecise and discretionary, particularly if infants have sex characteristics that don’t conform to binary F/M assignment standards (which is part of how the category of intersex emerges, framing this failure to conform to state census categories as a biological defect - and in fact, many intersex people do not discover they are intersex until the onset of puberty or later, at which point they are even less in luck if they want to change their sex assignment - and if they don’t, if they are cis but have sex characteristics that do not conform to cis standards, they will be discriminated against anyway).
Even setting aside the issue of transgender and intersex people for a moment, states fuck up all the time in administration! you've probably either experienced this directly or know someone who's had some kind of record fucked up by the government at some point in their life. If you get married they could fuck up changing your last name, fuck up your disability status, record your social insurance number wrong, print the wrong address on your driver’s license, fail to acknowledge you as a dependent when filing taxes, incorrectly mark you as having graduated when you’re still a student, fuck up your immigration paperwork, record your name wrong during immigration, etc etc into infinity, and this is not even getting into errors that occur when different levels of government pass information between one another. This level of administrative rigidity is purely to punish people who fail to perform cissexualism correctly, and in the case of this couple's child, the administrative error of the state is imputed to them as a personal failure that she and her parents will now have to deal with for the rest of their lives.
I think the ultimate analysis is not that transphobia will become less precise and hit more "wrong" targets as it expands its reach, but that this is the exact same operational logic as all other liberal state measures - if you encounter a systemic issue, it’s your fault for not avoiding it, fuck you, go away. You’re poor because you’re lazy, you’re unhoused because you’re lazy, you’re disabled because you’re lazy, and your daughter is now administratively transsexual because you’re lazy. In this case, we don’t even need to assume the intentions of the state - they outright say it:
The family complained to the GRO but was told the mistake was their responsibility and could not be fully rectified. “The duty to ensure that information recorded in any particular entry is true is the responsibility of the person providing the information and not of the registrar general or the registrar recording the birth,” the GRO said.

i know everybody has a different opinion and thats fine of course but mine is that it's really dishonest to go back and try to re-identify people who lived at a time such identity did not exist. it's okay to speculate and ponder, but flat-out changing the narrative is disrespectful? i think it erases the reality of ambiguity and what people before us had to do to fit in/survive/succeed with the means they had. it's like forcing people into a box so you can approve of it and make it palatable, idk if i make sense.

There's nothing wrong with being new to the community or unfamiliar with the discourse, but at the very least if you are going to post about the discourse you should be aware of if the hypothetical you're posting about has already been the case. This is a very very old take that has been repeated in a genuine way for years.

So I can tell the new meds have kicked in bc my dreams have been becoming VERY frequent and most of them flash by so fast I don’t really process them/I just think they’re too boring to hold onto, but one dream in particular had me cutting down my F/O considerably to 3 people and one of those three was Bela (my honorary 5th Quartet member) and apparently he also loves playing Minecraft so hey, I guess he IS a keeper.

did i miss something? is ralsei actually canonically transfem? (i really want this to be true)
this is, in part, what i mean — technically Ralsei isn’t “canonically” anything because it hasn’t been stated anywhere explicitly.
….but if you try and equip the mannequin onto Ralsei, this happens:
Tumblr media
which y'know is pretty transfem in and of itself, he obviously wants to wear this dress, but this is the mannequin and the dress in question.
Tumblr media
if it looks familiar to you, that's because it's already been worn by two other people in Undertale, both of them trans, both of them transitioning some way across the story - Mettaton & the Lioness who he inspires to come out
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in other words, this dress is, in Undertale/Deltarune, a symbol of positive gender expression for trans people. you can see the Lioness much much unhappier in masculine clothing and even though she doesn't keep the dress itself in the crossover to Deltarune (that's left on the mannequin for Ralsei to sigh wistfully over) she's still out the closet & happier
Tumblr media
so no Ralsei is not ""canonically"" transfem (yet) but... it's pretty obvious! Ralsei doesn't strike me as somebody who's particularly happy with his assigned role, and here we see him getting flustered by the prospect of a dress that represents being confident in one's gender expression. the only reason the wider fandom hasn't put 2+2 together on this one is for the same reason Guilty Gear fans shut down trans Bridget until it was undeniable, and the same reason Homestuck fans DO keep shutting down June even though it IS undeniable -- people hate trans women, and demand an astronomical amount of evidence before a transfeminine reading of a character is considered legitimate.

[walking confidently into a live minefield] I can't say for sure how we reached the point where "trans women everywhere (read as: everywhere online) oppress/hate/are secretly plotting the downfall of trans men" is a thing that people think is both true and reasonable to believe, but I think at least one factor is a stupid vicious cycle of bad actors and gullible bystanders where, like. you have some guys engaging in shitty misogynistic behavior > some women either try to explain why this behavior is shitty and misogynistic (to no avail) or just disengage entirely > instead of learning from this, the guys act all wounded about it > outside observers who don't have a great grasp on the situation (or maybe don't have great grasp on how misogyny functions in general, or think that only cis men can engage in misogynistic behaviors, or have some kind of unconscious hang-up against trans women) see this and think aw man, these poor dudes are getting ragged on for no reason! > people who weren't necessarily doing the original shitty misogynistic behavior are falsely pointing the finger at trans women for "starting shit" > this is obviously fucking irritating, and no one has an infinite well of patience, so after calmly defending themselves however many times, some of these ladies are just gonna start telling bad-faith jokers to fuck off > shitty dudes and gullible bystanders go "see, they're doing it again! those man-hating harpies!" > women continue to be irritated and (understandably) defensive, tell bad-faith jokers to fuck off > and so on and so forth.
and to be clear "vicious cycle" does not mean "oh well really it's everyone's fault for being involved in the whole mess." I think there's a pretty clear cause and effect here where if you're dismissive of women's voices and viewpoints, and hold them to unfair standards, and just generally aren't very nice, they might not be very nice to you in return. and why should they be!

Huge TERF following you have, huh? Wonder why that is.
I assume you're referring to the results on this poll.
Respectfully, the way tumblr works is that when a post is reblogged, it ends up getting seen by people who do not follow the OP.
In the first day of that poll going live, the last option made up a very low percentage, around 1.5–2%. After circulating for 6 days, that percentage is obviously much higher. What that indicates to me is that the 2% is most likely more representative of people who saw the post directly from this blog, while the inflated number came after that 2% reblogged the post into their circles/TERFS who follow other rebloggers got hold of it.
TERFs in particular seem to get a lot of enjoyment out of reblogging/commenting on pro-trans and/or anti-terf posts, either to pose as the victim or to make fun of the posts. (Or both.) They love to hate. It's a game to them, and that's why it seems unusually weighted– they have more fun kicking a post like that around, as opposed to everyone else whose additions are less "interesting" comments (meaning less likely to spark further engagement) like "no I haven't" or "yeah once, ugh."
A large number of the non-terf votes are also likely from people who wouldn't want to reblog that poll anyway (for a multitude of reasons), which comparatively lessens the poll's reach among the people who think like them.
Regardless of the reason for the high percentage on that poll, I would hope that my track record would speak for me here. You can take a look through a variety of topics and posts that should more or less communicate my stance. As a reminder, I openly state that I modify the text of many submissions; this often involves changing polls to use more inclusive language, but also means that if I wanted to use less inclusive language, I could very easily do so.
Polls tagged #gender
Polls tagged #lgbtq | [category] Polls about LGBTQ stuff
Polls tagged #trans
Posts in which I speak (for more perspective on how I conduct myself and the values from which I approach this blog)
In particular I will draw your attention to phrases like "people with vaginas," "people who menstruate," "people with penises," and terms like LGBTQ and queer. These are terms I deliberately add to polls (when relevant) if they are not already phrased that way; and generally speaking, these are not terms/phrases that terfs use. Every time there's a poll using terms like these, there's a terf in the comments complaining about it. I block them when I see them. I don't catch everything– I'm not perfect– but I do what I reasonably can. We support trans people here.
