thinking about if my ocs would ever have/want kids and it is making me emotions

veria: would want kids in theory but given that she and alistair are both wardens she doesn't want them if she doesn't have a cure for the taint. not worth the risk

daithi: does not really want kids of his own but would love being an uncle/hanging out with younger ones and telling stories. he is kieran's father and does not live long enough to meet him. not sure if morrigan would ever reach out to zevran and introduce him to kieran, not sure which option would hurt zev more.

noah: likes kids and has always enjoyed being around multiple generations of family. i think they do end up having at least 1 child with alistair

levi: has not put much thought into wanting kids, has put thought into the possibility that he would screw up any kids he had based on how he is as an older brother. if he ever made it out of the fade, i think him and anders adopt a baby some time after.

rhea: does not really know how to handle kids that well since she didn't grow up with many other kids around, as such does not really know what she would do with a baby. i don't think she ever wants kids explicitly but i do think that she and josie encounter an older child at some point with no surviving family and take care of them. they are busy but very loving moms.

arya: has always loved kids and very much forced herself to not want to have any until the events of inquisition (meeting Kieran and morrigan brings up a lot of Thoughts and Feelings and Hopes). she+cullen would definitely have a couple kids at some point but a lot of healing would have to happen before then

Description: When you get injured and sick, Damian is by your side for the whole time

The only noises heard in the medical room were the sniffles and shaky breaths coming from your pained trembling body covered in bruises and with your face covered in blood. You feel a big warm hand on top of your head looking to see Damian by your side grabbing and holding your hand with the other before paramedics came and loaded you in the ambulance, after arriving and being checked over you found out that you had a concussion, two cracked ribs, a long cut on your back, small cuts on your face, a bump on your head, and a broken clavicle from the vicious and unwarranted assault against you by Roman Reigns followed by an attack from the OC minus AJ Styles since he had been a friend of yours for years since you started your career in WWE being one of the first people to welcome you other than Edge, Sasha Banks, Finn Balor, Becky Lynch, Jey Uso, Rhea, and damian himself when you became friends before the two of you grew feelings for each other and began dating four years down the road with help from rhea and edge. You felt frustrated at yourself for not fighting back enough and really upset that you would be out for quite a bit to recover, you turn your head as damian looks at you while wiping tears off and caressing your face gently "It's not your fault bebe you fought as hard as you could you were already in a lot of pain" you stay in the hospital for five days and head home to rest more being on meds for the pain mostly in your shoulder and torso soon being in more pain from the rough, loud, and non-stop dry coughing spells that plagued you two days after coming home scaring damian when he walked in from training only to find you shaking as you coughed followed by small whimpers of pain knowing by the washed out and pale expression on your face that you were sick quickly showering and watching over you making sure you still stayed hydrated and fed taking you to the doctor and finding out you had a fever and pneumonia immediately being given antibiotics which he made sure wouldn't have any reaction with the pain meds you were on making sure you took them over the next couple of weeks always holding you when the coughs made your body shake or move involuntary. Finally after a few rough weeks of pain and exhaustion, you recovered from everything and ended up back in the gym after being cleared by the doctors and damian helped you get back into training watching you closely in between his training and when he wasn't watching you for a few minutes he would have finn, rhea, or Dom with you knowing that they would help or stay with you until damian was by your side, then after slow weeks of training you were back in the ring having a match against Charlotte Flair which you won and soon you were back in more matches and tag team matches with the boys and rhea always appreciating what damian did for you which he shakes his head with a smile "I'll always take care of you Mariposa" kissing you sweetly before holding you in his arms.

What colors do you favor in your writing? Which show up the most? If you color-code your characters at all, which colors are the most prevalent?

woah, not just the Celadon swing back but literally asking me my own questions. alright.

it depends on the wip. each wip has a set of colors, independent of the colors I associate with my ocs, but I do have a lot of brick red, cerulean blue, forest green and indigo-violet, and these colors show up in most of my wips - in the sense that I feel like these are the colors of the vibes. as for what colors I actually mention? I think it's well-documented at this point that I do not, nearly often enough, mention colors or setting descriptions in my stories - or at least in the current drafts.

lemme do some research to see what comes up the most in Dirt:

it's red, but only barely. I dunno if you've gotten around to read it yet, but this doc is heavy on emotion and light on settings.

the most color mentions are probably going to be in Youth, so let's check it out:

it's yellow the most, but I think my mentions of how blue Evie's eyes are stand out more.

I feel like I mention the word "color" more than I mention specific shades, which is weird since I have such strong opinions on colors and do color-code my characters. in two ways.

I give them a palette of color to wear and I give them colors based on their vibes. so if we go back to Dirt and talk about the characters by what they get to wear vs. the colors I think they embody:

Jet - black, brown, grey and red vs. grey, dark green, burnt umber Copper - creams, purples, blues vs. goldenrod, aquamarine, lavender Rune - red, blue, green vs. silver, mauve, forget-me-not Yarrow - all colors vs. all colors Moss - muted solids vs. sage, sandy brown, charcoal Hawk - green, blue, brown vs. verdant, violet, seafoam Shadow - black and whatever Yarrow gives him vs. steel, cloud, slate, and ultramarine

Helaena Targaryen x OC Targaryen Royce

The Heir of Runestone would often joke that he should be referred to as Rhaegar Stone. Seeing as his father (Prince Daemon Targaryen) had no want for him and his mother (Lady Rhea Royce) was long dead. All jokes end when he and Ser Gerold Royce are summoned to the capitol by none other than King Viserys the First of his Name. The King wanting nothing more than to bring his estranged nephew into the fold, Viserys offers Rhaegar his so called Targaryen Right. A betrothal to the Princess Helaena and the chance to claim a dragon. Will Rhaegar be able to claim such a beast? Even if his valyrian skills were lacking? Prince Aemond seems to think so. Though he’s mostly is just thrilled to finally have someone around who’s willing to be his friend. Also the court begins to notice that the Princess Helaena seems to have taken a liking to the new prince. Much to her mothers dismay, who’s fighting tooth and nail to have the girl be given to Aegon. Something neither sibling wanted. To Rhaegar everything was going smoothly until the news of Laena Velaryon death had dampen everything.

Chapter 8: Aegon

The breeze hitting their ship was chilly. Though it was helping propel them faster to Dragonstone. The blue waves of the ocean had been pleasant.

King Viserys eldest son was sitting next to his nephew Jacaerys who surprisingly was allowed to accompany them to their ancestral seat.

Rhaenyra had not accompanied them, sending Ser Laenor in her stead. The Sea Lord was currently inside the small meeting room with the Ser Gerold and his grace the king. Only the crew members and the princelings were out enjoying the view.

Aegon and Jacaerys eyes were glued to Aemond and their cousin Rhaegar.

Aegon had been surprised that Aemond had been able to bond with their cousin so quickly. In all honesty the Prince Aegon had thought he’d be the one to befriend Rhaegar first. Seeing that they’re closer in age.

However Aegon had quickly noted that they share little interest. Where the kings first son was arrogant and vain; the Rogue Prince’s son was humble and courteous.

Aegon has no doubt the Heir of Runestone will have songs written about him, songs of honor. Rhaegar carries himself dutifully, to the point of borderline annoyance. Clean cut and well mannered, everything Queen Alicent wanted Aegon to be.

The young prince likes his cousin, he truly does. Yet Aegon couldn’t understand how one person could be so accomplished so young.

Rhaegar was barely a few moons older than him and he exceeded him both in studies and sword training.

The Queen had taken notice as well. Eyes the newcomer like a diligent hawk. Concluding that it was expected of Rhaegar Targaryen to be good at combat.

The boy was of the Vale. The Kingdom of the East had the finest calvary, second to none in all the Seven Kingdoms. The Knights of the Vale were of legendary status, of course Rhaegar could out spar his cousins.

Like Aemond, Rhaegar was also the bookish type. Just last night they’d spent the whole dinner debating the origins of the Firstmen. King Viserys finally acknowledging Aemond for once. Though not through his own merit. His grace only paid attention to them because Rhaegar was the son of his favorite person.

‘What a blessing for our family to have not one but too intelligent boys!’ Viserys exclaimed proudly. ‘They will make fine candidates for the Small Council when they come of age! Won’t they Rhaenyra?’

The air had turned heavy with grim tension. Rhaenyra gave an awkward half insincere smile ‘yes your grace, of course.’

Thus dinner ended silently. They all scattered their own ways.

“Aaahhh” Jacaerys yelps as he made to stand being rocked over by a strong wave. He lands back down on his bottom.

“Your face is all green” Aegon jeers, as he snickers into his goblet wine. How he loves Arbour Gold.

“The sea doesn’t agree with me uncle.” Was all the boy said.

Aegon wonders if Jacaerys knows what people whisper about him and his brothers. His father made it clear that Rhaenyra was to be Queen after he passes on. Thus Jacaerys would become her heir. Perhaps rumors of their bastard heritage would cease, Aegon hoped so.

He’d never admit it to his mother but Aegon was elated that he was not the chosen heir. People like him should never come to power. Aegon was self aware of his flaws.

People would often say that bastards are naturally deceitful. That they carried themselves sinfully, that it was natural for them to indulge their vices.

Aegon knows that logic is simply not true.

Jacaerys was nothing like that all. If one would write down the personalities of both boys, Aegon would have more bastard like tendencies.

“Do you think Rhaegar will be able to claim a dragon uncle?” The Velaryon boy asks. His big brown doe eyes shinning with curiosity.

Aegon and Aemond had spent all day yesterday teaching him basic commands in High Valyrian. The language the dragons understand most.

“I hope so, though his Valyrian isn’t so smooth.” He refills his goblet of wine.

“Not his fault though. You can’t learn a new language in just one day.”

Jacaerys nods in agreement.

“Mother said Rhaegar wants to go by his maternal last name Royce instead of Targaryen. Apparently Grandsire had a whole fit behind closed doors.” The boy whispers quietly.

Aegon’s lilac eyes growing wide in shock. Millions of thoughts rushing through his head like a stampede. No wonder the sudden haste of going to Dragonstone.

His cousin wants to retire his prince title in favor of that of a lord.

Viserys must be hoping desperately that Rhaegar claims a dragon. If he does he won’t be able to relinquish his Targaryen name because only they can have dragons. With the exception of the Velaryon’s of course but they often marry within the Targaryens that at this point it’s really just one large house.

“I wonder if Rhaegar knows the price of claiming a dragon…” Aegon says lowly.

Low enough for Jacaerys to hear. The Velaryon boy’s eyes gaze over to Rhaegar and Aemond.

“Probably not… mother also said Grandsire hopes Aemond can claim a dragon as well.”

Of course Viserys wants that, Aegon scoffs. His father has no qualms of expressing his expectations about his younger children with other people. Yet he never seems to attempt to bond with them at all. Poor Aemond had attempted but soon learned that trying always proves in vain.

“If Aemond doesn’t bond with one today, I think he never will.” It was mean thing to say. He wasn’t sure if it was about the dragon or his father. Aegon regrets saying it immediately.

It does earn him a laugh from Jacaerys though.

“Mother tried betrothing me too Helaena you know…” His nephew says making the older boys face sour.

“My mother tried to betroth me to her as well.”

“Mother wanted Helaena to be my future queen to bring the family closer. She even offered to give Aemond an egg from Syrax’s latest clutch.”

This Aegon hadn’t known. He knew of Rhaenyra’s proposal and his mother rejection but Alicent had failed to say anything to them about an egg for Aemond.

“It doesn’t matter now nephew. My sister is to be the new lady of Runestone. Rhaegar has saved us both.”

Jacaerys doesn’t say anything, his face unreadable. If Aegon didn’t know any better he’d say Jacaerys was disappointed.

“Mother doesn’t agree with the betrothal between Rhaegar and Helaena.” The younger boy says quietly.

“I think that’s the only thing our mothers agree on.” He replies, filling up another goblet of wine.

The conversation coming to an abrupt halt as Aemond came rushing towards them with a huge pearly grin.

“Dragonstone in is sight! Come on you guys!”

The sitting boys share a look then jolt up quickly. Running towards the rail of ship.

There Dragonstone stood in all its obsidian beauty, dazzling in the sunlight. The majestic dragon statues proudly adorning the great towers.

The four boys stood watching, mesmerized by the valyrian style fortress.

Aegon put his arms around Rhaegar and Aemond shoulders. Tugging them close playfully.

“Well boys Dragonstone is ancient and glorious, let’s try not to knock her down while we’re here”

The four boys share a hearty boisterous laugh.

Rhea speaks to Serana following the death of Lord Harkon.

The waves lapped at the boulders lining the shore, the ever-present crashing alongside the cries of the bone hawks that circled the island. Rhea often sought peace at this stretch of the castle’s land, peace from the incessant bickering of the clan, the maneuvering of imaginary chess pieces on a blood-stained floor. But tonight, the castle was silent; the members in stasis as the future of the vampires had just been upended. And there was one among them who felt this displacement burn far deeper than the rest could imagine. 

“You don’t have to check on me,” Serana muttered, her back to Rhea. 

“I’m not here for you,” Rhea replied. “This is just where I happen to come to escape. But, since you mention it…” She sat on the rock beside Serana. “I suppose it wouldn’t make much sense to ask how you feel.”

She barked a joyless laugh. “I don’t even know how I feel.” She glanced at Rhea briefly before returning her gaze to the sea. “Sadness. Guilt. Anger. Relief. It’s all pooling together into a bleak gray. Numb.”

Rhea looked out to the water, furrowing her brow as she sifted through possible words of comfort. But what comfort could be provided after having been the driving force in her father’s death?

“I’m glad to be through with this ordeal,” Serana continued. “We were by no means a model family, but we were still a family in some strange way. But his obsession–it was always his obsessions that drove our family further and further apart.” She let out a long sigh. “This one just happened to run too deep for us to crawl back out as a whole.”

“Will your mother return?” Rhea asked.

“I suppose,” she said. “Father was the only thing keeping her away once we freed her.”

“Then your family’s not gone,” Rhea assured. “It’s merely a bit smaller.” She curled her lip at her own words. “Not exactly the comforting sentiment I was going for.”

“I know what you meant.” Serana smiled, though Rhea nearly didn’t catch it as it fell just as quickly. “My father died a long time ago. This man was Lord Harkon, leader of the Volkihar Clan. Nothing more.”

Craning her head, Rhea looked up at the castle and muttered, “May his death be the start of closure.” She turned back to Serana and grinned. “Speaking of… There’s nothing keeping either of us here now. Getting into some trouble on the mainland might be good for you.”

She remained facing forward, unresponsive to Rhea’s words for a few moments. “I don’t think my family is any smaller,” she finally said, her words barely more than a whisper. 

“You might be right,” Serana said before turning toward Rhea. She smiled. “And there’s never a shortage of trouble when you’re involved.”

Storm Hawks Bird OC Challenge - October 2022

Hey there Storm Hawks. New month, new bird!! This month we're bringing on the danger with the Cassowary! Particularly the Southern Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius).

Also known as the Australian Cassowary or the two-wattled Cassowary, this flightless bird is the most common of three species of the genus (alongside the dwarf and northern cassowaries) and is related to ostriches, emus, rheas and kiwi birds. They're most well-known for their dangerous reputations, and the lethal kicking claws on their three-toed feet. They're solitary and capable of safely eating fruits that would be considered toxic to other animals.

I'm really excited to see what people come up with for this one. I'm also taking entries that use the other two species as inspiration, just please make sure to include images of the species used.

Deadline this month is Wednesday the 26th. Rules and more images are under the cut

Minimum requirements for drawn entries to be put in the winner's vote are a name, occupation, the character's home/birth Terra and at least one paragraph (or about 100 words) of written backstory.

Minimum requirements for written (i.e. written dossiers without art, or mini-fics for the character) are 500 words including backstory and appearance. Feel free to make a mini-fic out of this challenge, I'll make sure to link it with the final collage as well.

Entrants who are part of the Storm Hawks discord server will have the chance of getting a custom role for the next month! If you’re not part of the discord server, please ask for an invite if you’re interested.

You're not expected to create a character from scratch for this challenge. If you've got an older character concept that's been collecting dust or that you'd like to take the opportunity to revamp, feel free! The goal of this challenge is to inspire people.

So, Maps To The Stars (usually abbreviated as MTTS) is a OC story written by @hello-naptiime and I! Most of the content for it is on Twitter, but since we've both been more active here Tumblr is ALSO being subjected to it.

MTTS is a multi-plot, ridiculously over detailed, VERY LONG, sci-fi / romcom type story that centers around the multiverse, how it works, and the people in it!

There is a Twitter Moment of art we've posted, and Naps has made an Animatic of some of the story! Also have Toyhouse refs for the main cast!

Doing a lil read-more cause oh babey this is going to get long and im not even going to be fully explaining everything

So! I will try my best to explain as simple as I can

This story features three plotlines that INITIALLY start out like this:

A Plot : Slice-of-life romcom, following a group of four neighbors (named Atlas, Mira, Rhea & Sirius) and their life in a small town in Northern Massachusetts. And eventual falling in love.

B Plot : A group of tech college students (named Wolfgang, Everett & Hawkings) from the 80's, try to build a machine that can travel the multiverse with the spare time they have. Also cool junkyard lady (Laika!)

C Plot : Comes much later, follows a ex-hunter from the multiverse government (Charon) and the multiverse's top wanted criminal (Styx) and their adventures and shenanigans whilst working together!

Some of these characters ARE interchangeable to the plotlines (ex. Charon actually is initially introduced as part of the B plot BEFORE he becomes C)

There is multiverse government corruption drama. There is ridiculous romances. There is trauma and stupid decisions. There is memory loss. There is Space Jam. Miku Garfield is a canonical thing. This story is the light of my life.

The main plot takes place over 4-6 years. The overall story is 24-26 years long. There is, in fact, over 100 characters designed for & involved in the story In Total and there is still more we need for the world building. According to Naps, the folder with all the OC art in it is nearing 1k images because I literally did nothing but draw them ALL last year and a good portion of this year.

There is TECHNICALLY two docs written that explain the plot, but I don't know if Naps will let me share it in case we actually commit to making this a comic or animated series BUT

Let me tell you. I made the first doc in October 2021. I stopped updating it in April 2022, and last I edited it, it was at 21k words. That doc is well outdated.

I rewrote it in April to properly format it, simplify it (cause it took like 2-3 hours for our friends to read it), and update it. It is currently near 11k words. It still needs an update to current lore. Two characters who were SUPPOSED to be side characters are now part of the main cast cause we accidentally made them too important. I am terrified for whatever absolute monster this thing will continue to become and it is also my baby.

desdemona manderly - locked with the sisters in the maidenvault by her brother to try and curry favor with baelor. became daena's lover

alyssa storm - one of aegon iv's great bastards with a caron, neutral during the blackfyre rebellion but was close to daemon. killed by the rat, hawk, and pig (aka by bloodraven)
