Meet Mel and Donut

Mel was the victor of the 72nd hunger games and is from district 8

She grew up on a sheep farm next to a village in the middle of nowhere

I have a lot to say about this farm and how her name got pulled but I don’t want to get into it right now

She won her games by taming a wolf mutation who fought alongside her/for her

This is Donut she’s a huge wolf, probably as big as a Mastiff with huge teeth and claws that was made to kill, but the capital forgot to take out the pack bonding and after a joint traumatic experience Mel and Donut became inseparable

Here’s the joke part since Donut is a wolf and looks like a big fluffy husky she became so popular that no one even remembers Mel

Even on official documents and public appearances Donut is labeled the victor instead of Mel

Mel and Donut mostly just live on her parents sheep farm next to a village that’s so small and remote they didn’t even know there was a war

I actually do want to talk about the village now

I don’t think the capital has enough resources to have control over everyone in North America, I’m not talking about the well documented small town I’m talking about the random groups of people that live in the middle of nowhere and Alaska

Winter and Summer

Now that I have 2 OC's I felt the need to clarify their origins.

Winter and Natalie are a male and female husky respectively.

Name: Nathanial Winters

nickname(s): Nate and Winter

Height: 5'6" Gender : Male

Sexual orientation: Bisexual( Prefers men)

Origin: Winter was born high up on a mountain in Alaska under the shining Northern Lights. After he was born he would often travel back to the top of the mountain in order to meditate and pray. It was during one of these sessions that he received the rainbow markings on his arm.

Name: Natalie Summers

nicknames: Nat and Summer

Height: 5'6" Gender: Female

Sexual orientation: Bisexual( Prefers women)

Origin: Natalie was born at the base of an active volcano in Hawaii. She had a fairly normal birth, but after she was born she had a strange obsession with fire, always wanting to be as close as possible to it. During one of these times she got too close to the flames at a Luau fire. This led to her receiving scorch marks on her forearms.

Personality: Winter and Natalie are exact opposites with Winter being soft spoken and shy. Natalie, on the other hand, is loud and outgoing.

Likes: Both Natalie and Winter share the trait of a domestic dog in that they are very food motivated. Winter prefers meaty and savory foods while Natalie prefers sweet and sugary items.

Fetishes and Kinks: Natalie and Winter share kinks and fetishes, but with slight differences. The fetish they share is feet. It is their number one sexual fixation that trumps all others. Even leading them to do things they normally wouldn't. Specifically engaging in sexual activities with genders they don't prefer.

Winter and Natalie both engage in nudism. Natalie almost never wears clothes while Winter is only nude around friends and family or people with which he feels comfortable.

Natalie and Winter both engage in public sex. Winter is more discrete, trying his best not to get caught. Natalie on the other hand is more voyeuristic, preferring an audience and seemingly always trying to get caught.

Odd Crimes and Misdemeanors Background

This will be a three-fer because I'm behind on my promised background posts. Follow me below the cut for some of the animals of the OC&M world, how time is measured in Huaguo, and some basic terms:

Animals (both mundane and spiritual)

Enuht Dog: Husky equivalent. Comes from the Estate of Enuht, which covers some of what would be western Canada and part of Alaska.

Hundun: This creature is the same as our world's mythology, specifically the shapeless, formless, chaos beast sometimes represented as an empty bag.

Thunderfish: Similar to an oarfish in general appearance, though perhaps a bit less fearsome. Comes from the Estate of Salsh, which covers what would be the western United States. Most of the western indigenous peoples ended up here. Considered a heritage beast in Salsh.

Xiao: Another creature from our world's mythology. Basically a one legged monkey. (Do not ask how it does its business. I've no idea.)

Time measurement in Huaguo

Huaguo's year keeps to the lunar calendar. I don't plan on making it a major part of a plot, however, because I have trouble wrapping my head around the things. (Also, happy Autumn Moon Festival.)

Days are divided into four quarters, each of which are divided to four more quarters and four more after that. Each day officially begins at sunrise of the first day of the year, which means every first day requires resetting the clocks to match the time. Also, one has to take into account one's location in the country, as one has to adjust the time based on sunrise in each region. (It probably gets confusing and might become story fodder in some future book.)

Some basic terms in Huaguo

Coldbox: Refrigerator

Daifurong: This universe's equivalent of oxytocin

Fulu: Paper talismans (same term as our world). They're square pieces here, however.

Gimon: An outfit from Yoake, similar to a kimono.

Handlight: Flashlight

Huafu: Equivalent of Hanfu, but with greater variation. Essentially old traditional dress.

Jiang Coat: A knee length loose coat with a shawl collar. Usually made of light gauzy but water-resistant material. Was popular in the equivalent of the 1920s in Shang Kingdom.

Silatra: Rynd Import car. Expensive but well-worth it. (Good old German... I mean Ryndan engineering.)

1. Tell me something you love about your current WIP(s)

I love how much Veracity had become the highlight of my year, and all the explorations into characterization and voices and world building I was able to get from writing it.

2. Three of your characters are coming with you on a road trip. Who are they and why did you pick them?

Kiira, because she would be the one keeping track of where the fuck they were going, and she’s calm in the face of danger

Leon, because he would keep everyone entertained by babbling on about art for the whole ride

María, because she would tell Leon to shut up eventually, so Kiira can get some much deserved peace and quiet

3. When you are not writing what are you most likely to be doing?

Whining about how much I need to write and how reluctant I am to start writing, lol. Which is kind of what I’m doing right now. Oops.

4. How do you name your characters?

For Veracity, I find a name that sounds good and/or has a fitting meaning, and is appropriate to the character’s culture. For my original series I have a system for names and I made a long list by sifting through the dictionary for days, so now I can pick names off of there.

5. Do your characters have any pets?

María grew up in a large family with two dogs and a cat. Miki had a giant, floofy husky back home in Alaska that she grew up with. The others are too busy being on the run to have pets.

6. Do you have a favourite time of day to write?

Hmm. I think generally speaking, I write better in the evening before I go to bed. Sometimes in the late morning, too.

7. Which of your characters would win the Most Huggable Award?

Henrik, because he’s a cinnamon roll despite his intimidating height, and he’s gentle in a clumsy sort of way, so he deserves all the love.

8. Which of your characters would win the Most Punchable Award?

Leon and Genevieve. They punch each other. And then Miki would punch both of them to get them to stop fighting. María says some pretty punchable things, but you’d be lucky if you get to punch her at all. She’s a pro at fighting.

9. How do you decide when you’re done planning and just have to start writing?

I’m a very paranoid planner, which is part of the reason it’s so hard to get myself to get back into writing. I’m ALWAYS planning what happens next, even as I’m putting words on the page.

10. Do your characters have any odd habits?

Genevieve never properly sits in a chair without some kind of odd posture. Miki likes to be barefoot at home no matter how freaking cold it might be. Henrik scratches his head so he has that permanent fresh-out-of-bed look. And Amélie is very grabby and always fights sleep no matter how tired she is, although she is a toddler, so maybe that’s normal. I’m sure all my OCs are odd in one way or another, but these are the ones that stick out most.

Human name: Jade Yukon Brown Age: 59 (I don't know what that is in human years. I'd imagine 13-15) Gender: Female Species: Human/State Date of birth: January 3 Eye color: Green Hair color: Brown Normal attire: In her original skecth I gave her an outfit similar to what the Inuits wear, but I don't know what her casual wear should be. Maybe winter wear or something. Sexuality: Don't know Fandom: Hetalia is her main one. Relationships: America (dad), Canada (uncle), Hawaii (twin sister), the other 50 states (siblings) Personality: Jade is very cold for the most part, like her weather, but is very family and community oriented, so she can be, and is also, loving. Like the Inuits, she values her family, even though they can annoy her sometimes. She is very serious since she lives off grid most of the time and you kind of need a no nonsense attitude when surviving in the wild. She does, occasionally, use modern day technology, but roughs it in the wilderness for the most part. She does not mind tourists that much as, like every other state, they are part of her economy but trespassing tourists or people that don't know how to survive even for one day in the wild can get on her nerves. She is a tomboy, but likes making jewelry from antler, ivory (walrus ivory that is), turquoise, and jade. Facts: I created her I think when I was a sophomore in college. She is the youngest of the states since she and Hawaii were the last ones to become states. Hawaii is her twin because they were both founded in the same year: 1959. However, Alaska is the older twin since she was founded in January and Hawaii wasn't founded until August She lives in a log cabin in Juneau. She has another cabin, a "summer cabin" someplace else in Alaska, but I haven't figured out where. She has a brown bear named Koko, much like Canada has Kuma, an Alaskan husky named Aurora, and a ptarmigan named Siku. She is very cold year-round, which is a play on her weather, but she can be nice when she needs to be. Her clothing can range from normal winter wear to what the Inuits wear. She lives in her cabin by herself most of the time. She built said cabin herself. Despite being the youngest, she is skilled in survival, especially in winter survival. Most of the time she acts, and is, independent but there are times when she needs to rely on her father, uncle, or siblings, even if she won't admit it. Her bear and ptarmigan's names are Inuit. Koko means 'chocolate' and Siku can mean 'ice.' In terms of food, she likes a lot of game meat, such as deer and elk, salmon, and crabs. She enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, making jewelry from antler, traveling, and racing with her pack of huskies. She is the closest to her twin and uncle. She owns a hunting rifle.

【Chó Bị Sốc Nhiệt】Nguyên Nhân, Cách Xử Lý Và Phòng Tránh‎

Mùa hè đến rồi, nhiệt độ có nhiều thời điểm lên đến 39-40 oC. Với cơ chế chỉ giải nhiệt bằng lưỡi và lòng bàn chân. Các chú cún, đặc biệt là các em quen ở vùng lạnh, có bộ lông dày (như chó alaska, husky, samoyed, akita…). Hoặc các giống chó có đường hô hấp ngắn (như chó bull Pháp, chó Bulldog, Pug…). sẽ cảm thấy rất nóng nực và khó chịu. Nhẹ thì cảm cúm, ho, trường hợp nghiêm trọng hơn, chó bị sốc nhiệt và có thể dẫn đến tử vong.

Làm thế nào ��ể nhận ra chó bị sốc nhiệt

Chúng ta đang trải qua những ngày nóng nhất của mùa hè và cũng là khoảng thời gian nguy hiểm cho chó. Chó không đổ mồ hôi giống như con người và nhiệt độ cơ thể rất dễ tăng cao, dẫn đến sốc nhiệt và các biến chứng nghiêm trọng, kể cả tử vong. Hãy theo dõi các dấu hiệu bị sốc nhiệt được nêu dưới đây và liên lạc với bác sĩ thú y ngay lập tức nếu bạn nghi ngờ chó đang bị bệnh.

1. Thở hổn hển mệt nhọc

Ai cũng biết thở hổn hển là cách chủ yếu giúp chó làm mát cơ thể (chó cũng có thể tiêu tan lượng nhiệt dư thừa qua miếng đệm chân). Nhưng bạn có biết thở hổn hển có nhiều mức độ khác nhau không? Khi tiếp xúc với nhiệt độ ấm hơn, chó thường bắt đầu bằng một tiếng thở hổn hển qua đường miệng mở vừa phải. Khi cơ thể chúng nóng hơn, miệng chó sẽ mở hoàn toàn và lưỡi sưng phồng vắt vẻo bên cạnh. Nếu bạn nhận thấy tiếng thở nặng nề của chó thì nên đưa nó đến một nơi mát mẻ và có bóng râm ngay lập tức, tốt nhất là nơi có quạt hoặc điều hòa. Ngoài ra, hãy cho chó uống nước.

2. Chảy nước dãi quá nhiều

Nếu con chó của bạn chảy nước dãi quá nhiều khi trời nóng, đó có thể là một dấu hiệu cho thấy nhiệt độ cơ thể của chúng đang ở mức cao. Tiết ra nước bọt dư thừa giúp chó thải nhiệt tốt hơn là chỉ thở hổn hển. Tất nhiên, tốt nhất là đừng chờ cho đến khi con chó của bạn chảy nước dãi như một cái vòi rồi mới đưa chúng vào trong nhà và làm mát cơ thể.

Bạn nên cho chó một thời gian để phục hồi và cung cấp nước uống trước khi vào nhà. Vận động quá sức dưới trời nắng: Tập thể lực quá sức và vận động quá nhiều dưới nhiệt độ cao sẽ khiến cún kiệt sức khi chúng không thể tỏa nhiệt khỏi cơ thể. Đặc biệt là ở những giống chó lông dày như chó Husky hoặc Samoyed thì việc sốc nhiệt là rất dễ xảy ra.

Bị bỏ quên trong xe ô tô dưới trời nắng: Nhiều trường hợp chủ nhân vào mua đồ để quên cún của mình trong xe ô tô ngoài trời nắng với nhiệt độ từ 38-40 độ C, với không gian kín và chật hẹp, những chú chó có thể tử vong nếu không được giải thoát kịp thời khỏi xe.

Thay đổi nhiệt độ đột ngột: nhiều chủ nhân thường cho chó yêu của mình ngồi trong điều hòa lạnh và vô tình để chúng ra ngoài tiếp xúc với môi trường nhiệt độ cao ngay lập tức, điều này sẽ gây ra sự chênh lệnh nhiệt độ trong cơ thể chó từ lạnh sang nóng khiến chúng không kịp thích nghi và gây ra tình trạng sốc nhiệt.

Các chứng bệnh ở chó như béo phì hoặc bệnh tim đều là nguyên nhân dẫn tới hiện tượng chó bị sốc nhiệt.

Chó quá nhỏ hoặc quá già cũng là nguyên nhân dẫn tới hiện tượng này.

Cách xử lý khi chó bị sốc nhiệt ngay tại nhà

Khi thấy cún nhà bạn có các dấu hiệu trên, bạn cần thật bình tĩnh và thực hiện các thao tác nhằm giảm nhiệt độ cơ thể của chó nhanh chóng. Sử dụng nhiệt kế để đo nhiệt độ cơ thể cho cún. Cách đo nhiệt độ cơ thể chó chính xác nhất chính là đưa nhiệt kế vào trực tràng của chúng qua đường hậu môn và giảm nhiệt độ của nhiệt kế xuống 34.5 độ C. Nếu thân nhiệt >42 độ C, chó sẽ có nguy cơ tử vong cao.

Nếu không có nhiệt kế mà bạn nghi ngờ chó bị sốc nhiệt, không chờ đợi nhiều. Bạn nên bế chó hoặc đưa chúng vào bóng râm gần nhất – nơi có nhiệt độ mát mẻ và thấp hơn môi trường bên ngoài và thoáng mát. Lúc này tránh để cún vận động thêm nữa mà hay giữ chúng cố định để giảm nhiệt độ cơ thể của cún.

Cho chó uống nước ngay, bạn có thể để chó tự uống, tránh việc bơm ép vào miệng tránh tình trạng sặc nước vào phối.

Làm ướt cơ thể của cún bằng việc xịt nước phun sương.

Phủ khăn ướt lên người chó để giảm nhiệt, chú ý không dùng nước quá lạnh có thể gây tác dụng ngược.

Dùng cồn lau đệm chân cho cún có thể kích thích sự tỏa nhiệt ra ngoài.

Sau khi thực hiện các biện pháp sơ cứu, hãy đưa cún tới ngay các phòng khám thú y có uy tín để được điều trị kịp thời.

Ngăn ngừa tình trạng chó bị sốc nhiệt bằng cách nào?

Hạn chế đưa cún ra ngoài giữa trưa nắng hoặc những khu vực có nhiệt độ cao, điều này sẽ giúp ổn định thân nhiệt của chó và hạn chế tình trạng chó bị ong đốt rất thường thấy khi ra ngoài dạo chơi.

Tránh vận động giữa trời mùa hè nóng nực. Cách tốt nhất chính là cho cún đi dạo sau 9h tối và vận động lúc trời đã dịu.

Tăng sức đề kháng cho cún bằng nước điện giải hoặc nước tăng cường sức khỏe của chó.

Không đưa chó ra ngoài từ môi trường điều hòa ra trời nắng đột ngột và ngược lại.

Tỉa lông hoặc cạo bớt phần lông bên ngoài với giống chó to để giúp chó có thể dễ dàng thoát nhiệt độ ra bên ngoài.

Sau khi hạ nhiệt cho chó, bạn nên đưa chúng tới ngay các cơ sở thú y gần nhất để được điều trị triệt để nhé.

My darling OC’s turned a year old today!~ I love my babies~!

Air And Alaska the two adopted daughters of Skye and Everest. After the two are wed for a while they adopt two pups. One a Cockapoo like Skye, the other a Husky like Everest.  When the two were around four months old Skye and Everest die in a avalanche while out looking for lost ski boarders. The two pups are then cared for by Jake. 

When Air and Alaska are a bit older they meet Ryder, a man who is back in their town and the two pups soon learn this man was the leader of a rescue team that their mothers were apart of. They also come to learn that no one on the team plus Jake for a while) Was okay with Skye and Everest being together. Which led the dogs to marry in secret,only to be found out. Everest who was kicked out of the PAW Patrol and Skye who was told she could stay (Since Ryder blamed Everest for ‘Brainwashing’ His pup. However, when Ryder and Jake both end up running into the dogs as their getting married by the mayor.

Before Jake or Ryder can do anything the mayor makes them an official married pair right in front of their eyes. Ryder now mad as ever tells Skye to come on home, telling her she has to stick with her family and now more than ever since the PAW Patrol is moving away in two weeks. Skye refuses however, despite Ryder making her then choose between him and the team or Jake and Everest. Skye chooses her wife and her wife’s owner in the end and Ryder runs off angry.

Jake now realizing how terrible he’s been apologizes to Everest and Skye and takes Skye in. 

The two dogs forgive Jake and while Skye is depressed over losing the others and Ryder she soon feels better and is happy to finally be where she belongs.

Ryder ways have changed for the better and he is heartbroken when he learns that Skye and Everest are dead and vows to be a better person.

When Ryder begins the Second gen of PAW Patrol Air becomes an  aviation pup like Skye was and Alaska becomes an ice/snow rescue pup like Everest. 

A few months after the team is fully built Air ends up crushing on Shirley, the new police pup. This makes Air realize she’s gay and after finally telling Shirley how she feels (Thanks to Alaska helping her) Shirley does end up returning her feelings and two end up going on a date and then become a couple.

However after a few months some teenage dogs spot Air out in town and attack her for being into girl pups. These teens go as far to try and kill Air and the others (Since they support her) Air ends up with PTSD and is then taken hostage by the teenagers later on, but is saved by Ryder, Jake, and the pups.

After they deal with the teenagers and all calms down, Air is given a rainbow flag pin to wear on the sides of her collar. She now wears it all the time, only taking it off when it’s time for a bath.

Alaska falls for Spark the fire dog of the team and they become a couple. Spark is a gentle, kind, and loving pup. He always wants to make his friends happy. Alaska and Spark are together for a while, but soon... Something happens. When Spark is called in to help put out a fire in town, he hears the screams of a little girl from the house he was called to. Wasting no time, he goes in to save her, 

... The flames become bigger and bigger however. Ryder runs to help his pup. Spark and the girl are almost trapped by the fire. Spark somewhat throws the child into Ryder’s arms and orders him to get her to safety. 

Ryder does that and Spark dies in the fire a few minutes later. Alaska and the team are shocked by the news and Alaska falls into a deep depression. A few weeks pass and Ryder knows he needs to get another fire pup. A few pup is hired for the spot and comes to live at the Lookout. Alaska finds him odd because she can’t recall what his breed is since he looks different from any other dog she’s seen.

Turns out this new fire pup going by the name of Ash is half husky half wolf.

He knows of Alaska’s loss and helps her through it. The two end up falling for each other, which scares Alaska at first. But knowing Spark would want her to be happy, the two get together.
