thinking about the revenant wip again…. cold snowy gross muddy days and silent nights, roving marauders trying to scrape by against a malignant monarchy sending out crystalline soldiers to raze their lands, a kind hearted soft spoken woman who dies again and again and again in this crusade but is always brought back to life by her childhood best friend who is in love with her and will follow her to the ends of the earth…. wounds that heal but injuries that do not vanish, their scars grotesque, blood-stained snow, creaky taverns that offer a single haven of bitter warmth for the night, three parents trying to bend the rules of a curse bargain to have a child and only making things worse for everyone… does god love me or hate me or does he even exist, there are voices in my head when I die and I am so cold, I am so cold, I’m so cold, until Beck’s words bring me back, beckoning me, waking in his arms in the slush with prayer beads clenched in his hand

💼If you’re writing spec. fiction, share what professions your characters would have in the contemporary real world. If your WIP is contemporary, share what professions they would have in a fantasy setting. 

Very fun! So I have two major WIPs, one of which is 100% contemporary and the other of which is mostly contemporary except for the fact that they're all in the mafia.

So for the contemporary piece (WIP: My Brother's Keepers):

Josie: Her real job is in HR for a large company, but in fantasy, she'd probably make an excellent lady-in-waiting, because she's well-rounded in her skills and thoughtful.

Silas: I actually never gave him a job in the canon lol! But in fantasy, he'd be like, a very organized wizard. He's very on top of his shit.

For the mafia piece:

Currently, they're all criminals involved in the mafia and criminal underworld.

Simon: He'd work in like, sales? He's very convincing, good at talking to people, and a real people person, so this feels like a career path he'd excel in.

Beck: He'd be a middle school English teacher. I truly don't know why, but this answer immediately popped into my head and it just feels correct.

Sadie: Politician or lawyer, I think, something that involves convincing people and moving people around like chess pieces.

OC: Miranda "Beck" Beckett

Born in the Commonwealth in 2257, Beck — who refuses to go by their first name — is a builder. They use they/she pronouns and identify as non-binary, as well as bisexual. They grew up moving from place to place with their father, learning the tricks of the trade from him. They built every home they lived in themselves, a habit Beck continued long after her father passed away. After briefly living in Maine, Beck decided to return to Massachusetts in order to feel closer to her father — though the Commonwealth is not how they remember it, with the threat of Gen 3 Synths spreading across the land, alongside the dominating presence of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Given that the last post was about Beck, I think it’s only fair I share the most recent picture I’ve drawn of his family (more info below)

From right to left we have Iz, Andy, Arlo, Randall, Zeke, Beck, Milo, and Tamao. Beck and Zeke are the closest thing to “biological” brothers we have in this project, but they all refer to each other as siblings.

Iz belongs to my friend, and we both contributed to the development of Beck, Zeke, and Andy. The rest belong to me. All their physical designs are mine except Iz’s.

… I really need to redo this drawing, it’s like 7 months old. Oh, but bonus: the closest thing I have to colored pictures of them all (besides my header image)

🗯️What do you think is the most divisive or controversial aspect to your WIP?

It's either that the main characters are pretty queer in a heteronormative setting (the mafia lol) or that the protagonists in the story are not great people (they're literally criminals).

⭕Assign a shape, a color, and a number to each main character based on vibes.

I feel obligated to post this guy next since I found a draft from LAST OCTOBER of him. Anyway, ranty bits n’ extra details under the cut cuz the image is GINORMOUS for no reason

Anyway, their name is Beck. They’re one of mine, but my friend has played a significant role in helping me develop their personality. He’s also the main reason I kept contributing stuff to this project between October of last year till like May/June of this year.

On the off chance my friend sees this, I really don’t know how you put up with me not shutting up about this dude multiple times a day, several months straight but thanks, it means the world to me 💚
