note: apollo is rowan's ancient. daedalus (name pending) is quientien's.

As the city burned around them, Daedalus tried not to listen to the screams.

He knew that losing hope was the worst thing that could happen to him at that moment. The only thing that kept him to his senses was Apollo’s arms around him, his warmth encapsulating him as he tried to quiet his racing thoughts by distracting himself with the scent of the man he loved–vanilla with the slightest hint of strawberry. Like a dessert, as always.

“Just take my hand and close your eyes,” Apollo said, petting Daedalus’ hair. “Pretend we’re anywhere else but here.”

But they were not anywhere else but there. They were in the middle of Amaurot as it burned around them. Their friends and colleagues were dying, their screams echoing in the air. “I cannot,” Daedalus said with a small sob.

Apollo pulled away while still keeping his hands on Daedalus. “Listen to me, Daedalus. We have each other, alright? Those–those things? They will not harm us. We–” He paused for a moment. “We can always have each other, if you wish.”

Daedalus lifted his head, still panicked. “Do you mean…?”

“I do.”

Soul bonding was generally frowned upon; it was an intense ritual that would bond them for eternity.

But it may be enough to prevent either of them from turning into a blasphemy. “Okay,” Daedalus said. “Okay.”

Apollo stared at him with his warm yellow eyes, a sad smile on his face. “We will do this. And then you and I… we will always have each other. Always.”

Hi Flower! Thanks for the ask, and sorry for taking so long to get to it! I've been pretty busy all week, a fact I forgot about when I reblogged this ask game.

I'm gonna introduce you to an OC who is not currently attached to any WIP but I also very much want to do something with him and the world I've created around him.

Anyways, this is Daedalus Smythe. That hasn't always been his name (in canon, that is), but for his current purposes, it works just fine.

Daedalus, apart from being a character I rotate in my head like he's in a microwave 24/7, is an interdimensional assassin extraordinaire. He works for an organization that exists outside all of the *gestures wildly to basically everything that exists* and was created by the first civilization to create interdimensional travel in order to keep the peace and, most importantly keep other people from figuring out how to get between the dimensions too. It's a little bit convoluted but makes more sense when I'm writing.

All in all, Daedalus is one of my recent favorite characters--a blorbo if you may. He has questionable morals, he is very bisexual, he's beginning to question the ethics and morality of what he's doing and who he's working for, he's fighting space jeff Bezos, he hates kids and then accidentally adopts one, he's starting to wonder if his whole life has been a lie, he has a nicotine addiction, his best friend is a snarky blue five-eyed alien who steals books from him, oh god what has he been doing with his life this isn't right, he's overconfident, he lost his left leg to a giant carnivorous plant, etc. etc.

He's also one of my favorite characters to sketch, so I have pages of sketches of him just being goofy in all of my notebooks :)

I'm not sure where to put him & everything that comes with him. I think that he'd fit well in a comic book, video game, or TV show, and not quite as much in a novel, but it could work.

imagine a child of tyche whose whole thing is just video gaming. like, they’re just unnaturally lucky. the rare 0.01% drops that people spend hours grinding to get? they find them first try. playing genshin and trying to wish on a particular banner? yep, first try. they’re doing a minecraft speedrun and dig down and immediately find a stronghold.

Febhyurary 19 - Memory

Viola starts out extremely suspicious of Prospero Daedalus, even though he genuinely wants to help her. Which- having much experience with his own disorienting visions across time and space- he is qualified to do!

As Ares's memories bleed begin into her own, Viola starts to lose track of simple things- like what she did the day before. And that freaks her out a lot because her memory used to be uncommonly good. She eventually accepts Daedalus's help because she's really scared. And Ces- who she fully trusts- can vouch for him.

Maybe Icarus wanted to fall. Maybe he wanted to graze Apollo's light and Poseiden's deepest sand. Maybe Icarus smiled when he felt Apollo burn his wings. Maybe Icarus laughed when he felt the wind whipped through his broken wings and the salty sea cooled the scorching wax. Maybe Icarus wanted to be free, to leave the steel cage. Maybe he was a young boy high on delight and fear, maniacal laughter leaving his lips. For who could say they had touched the edge of Apollo's garments and seen the bottom of Poseiden's palace...

Next Old art! A 2020 Comic about Titus' (very illegal in the state of California) pet snapping turtle, Daedalus, featuring Oscar and Maria. This was back when Quarantine first started and after Animal Crossing released. But also! in the midst of the eggocalypse easter event that PLAGUED us ALL.

Chose this one today because today is my mom's birthday, and its the reason October always brings me a lot of complicated feelings despite it being my own birthmonth (mine comes 3 days later!).

Titus' mom, Maria, is an amalgam of traits from myself and also a lot of the traits that I admire from my own mother. Heck, she is even named after the name she would've chose for me if I was AFAB. It's a big reason that once I transition socially, I plan on taking Maria as my own first name (while also keeping pretty much every bit of my original name anyway. Cuz I can just do that.😌 )
