#oc: kate hastings

Ok, it was something I'd wanted to write for a long, but I needed to have a bit of time. 🤭

Since I've been re-reading, I noticed that, while writing my original story Dark Circus, Kate's and Alexander's looks became more and more similar in style and colors once they got nearer... It was totally unconscious on my part, but I can't help myself but find it so funny!

So, here are the scenes (all told by Kate):

FIRST - meeting among colleagues after work (ending in an unexpected undercover mission 🤭):

Kate: About my look, after Lucy worked to style my hair in a high tail with a slight crest, I opted for a black shirt with colorful flowers, smoke-colored jeans, a yellow jacket, and Chanel shoes of the same color.

Alexander: At least he had changed his look. I had to admit that a black jacket, white shirt, and jeans made him more informal, as well as reflecting his half-thirties.

SECOND - operation at the Four Seasons Hotel:

Alexander: I understood the reason for his confidence when a brand-new-looking Alexander Graham opened the door. He was wearing a suit with a classic tailored cut, Prussian blue, a tie still loose of a brighter tone, and a white shirt. In addition, his thick rebellious hair was ordered in a perfect cut with a side fringe that perfectly framed his face not at all surprised, unlike mine.

Kate: I decided not to play his game and threw my bag on the chest of drawers. I pulled out a classic knee-length dress of a sober beige, tightened by a belt at the waist and after having struck my boss a wink, I went to change in the bathroom, taking care to lock it. I pulled up my hair in a tall neat tail, then went out to pick up the black décolleté shoes with plateau I had aside.

Bonus, Elizabeth (Alexander's ex-wife): Elizabeth was really gorgeous. She, like me, had styled her hair, but being shorter, she had opted for a bun. On him, a Tiffany blue sheath dress that could easily have been on pair with Graham's tie.

THIRD - the same evening, before the "Let's unmask the dead" operation:

Kate: And so, I had bought online a dark coral dress, long and enveloping, crossed behind the back, which I would have combined with a nude satin heel.

Alexander (a bit of fanservice)😇: It was then that an intense wave of Boss Bottled tickled my nostrils, leading me to follow the trail toward Graham's tall figure silhouetted from behind, naked and perfectly defined. The tattoo with the symbol of the Dark Circus, which I had glimpsed sometime before, extended along the lower part of the neck up to the half shoulder. It was much more elegant than I imagined, rich in inked details. […] he dedicated himself to a black jacket and matching bow tie, then wore a white gold Rolex Daytona on his wrist.

FOURTH -At Graham's apartment before their unconventional cohabitation.

Alexander: A few minutes later, Graham appeared. He was free, in a gray Nike suit and slippers.

Kate: I changed my outfit, opting for a black pair of leggings and an extra-large green and white sweatshirt.

FIFTH - The wedding party at Howell Mansion.

Kate: My dress was a black empire-style chiffon dress with very light round sleeves, which descended softly, with an insert of diamonds that wrapped the pronounced neckline. I had worn simple light points, while my hair had turned out to be a drama impossible to style with that length. In the end, Lucy had just given some movement with some waves made with the hot iron.

Alexander: I wonder why I had deluded myself for a moment that he would respect the dress code. Total black look yes, but without the bow tie. He had just a silver-gray two-pointed clutch to give color and this time he had opted for a decidedly more modest steel Michael Kors on his wrist. On the other hand, he had fixed his hair, which fell back into a lonely, soft wave. Around him, his unmistakable scent. He was handsome.

Tolerable, Dutiful, and Half A Brain

Chapter 1: The Presentation of Eloise Bridgerton And The Return of Lady Whistledown.

Anthony Bridgerton x OC Ottoline Greggett

Author's Note: No Kate or Edwina.

As Eloise’s morning begins horribly wearing a ridiculous white dress accessorized with a large feather plume adorning her head, she looks towards the moment after at the ball that she is amongst her  friends: Penelope and Ottoline adorning the walls of the palace like wallflowers. Although Penelope will not be attending due to morning. While Eloise begs her family not to utter a word as they leave for the palace. Ottoline stands with her brother’s already inside the palace waiting for the presentation of ladies. 

Ottoline Greggett stands an inch taller than her eldest brother Sebastian, the oldest of nine. Her long red hair is braided and pinned into an exquisite high bun. She wears a light blue silk dress with silver embroidery mimicking the stars that the late Lord Xavier Greggett, her father studied. He was an avid astronomer and scientist. A quality he passed onto all of his children, especially Ottoline. Her avidity for the pursuit of knowledge gives her a boring and too intelligent reputation among the men of the Ton. Her introverted nature keeping her towards the walls affects her reputation with the women of the Ton. They deem her to be insignificant to the season. Ottoline’s name had not graced the pages of Lady Whistledown’s papers. Not that it bothered Ottoline, she like Eloise did not put much stock in Lady Whistledown’s gossip. 

 At an age of twenty-two years Ottoline has not had a single legitimate suitor. Men typically visited her in order to pay a favor back to her eight older brothers: Sebastian, Alexander,Theodore,Nathaniel, Benjamin, William, Oliver, and Gabriel. Having so many brothers did come with its benefits but also its hindrances. The past seasons each brother found a bride, she put up with so many women interloping into her home and criticizing the way she lived over the course. Each lady and respective brother understood now that Ottoline was fine. Nothing wrong with her body or mind. Many of her sister in laws believe her to be beautiful and fairly gifted. She just wastes all the beauty that her mother bestode Ottoline with.The late Lady Seraphina Greggett was one of the most beautiful and charming women in Queen Charlotte’s court. This would be Ottoline’s fourth season as an eligible woman. 

As the palace begins to fill, Queen Charlotte speaks to Lady Dansbury. 

“I yearn for someone fresh, someone unexpected,to turn this season on its head. That is what we need.There is no room for indifference. Apathy is a blight the monarchy simply cannot endure.

“Of course, Your Majesty. But remember, A young lady cannot be a diamond until you anoint her as such. So if for any reason you do not find one among the candidates today .” Lady Dansbury is interrupted. 

“Do you think she will return?” The Queen asks “We have heard nary a peep from Lady Whistledown since last season ended. Perhaps the writer came to her senses. Perhaps she realizes taking on her Queen was a bad idea, and she will never publish again.” 

“It is a convincing theory, ma’m.” replies Lady Dansbury. 

“Or she simply left for the country as the rest of us did in the off-season,bored by the lack of any real gossip. You do know what that would make her then.”The Queen says with a realization. “One of us.” 

The Bridgerton ladies are in one carriage while the Bridgerton men are in another. The ladies prepare Eloise for her presentation as she melts in the blistering sun and ricochet snarky remarks.  The Bridgerton men discuss another matter completely. 

“My task this season cannot be exceptionally difficult. Hastings did it after all.How hard can it be?” Anthony starts. 

“Ah, spoken with such feeling too.” Benedict chimes in. 

“I do not need feeling.What I need is what I have, and that is a list.Tolerable, Dutiful, Suitable enough hips for childbearing, and and at least half a brain. And that last part is not so much a requirement but a preference in fact.” Anthony ends his list. 

The other brothers nod dismissively to Anthony’s lack of emotion. 

As the presentation begins Ottoline finds herself falling into her old patterns, stiffly standing in a corner of the wall beside her eldest brother Sebastian and his wife Arabella. Sebastian turns to his sister and whispers, “This season you’re tasked with finding a husband.” 

“It shouldn’t be that hard.” Arabella pipes in. “You are beautiful. I wished my hips were as full as yours.”  

“Thank you.” Ottoline whispers to her sister-in-law. Arabella being the nicest one. “I have a list.” She whispers to her brother. 

“A list of what?” Sebastian asks. 

“Qualities for my husband. If I’m to have one forever. I must find the best one.” Ottoline takes out a small notebook and shows her brother. 

“This isn’t one of your plant experiments. This is your life.” Sebastian takes the notebook into his coat pocket. 

“Exactly, and you want me to have the best life.” Ottoline tries to take it back as everyone else is watching the presentation of the ladies.

“What are the qualities?” asks Arabella. 

“ Tolerable,Dutiful, Responsible,Kind, Loyal, Handsome, and at least half a brain. That is not so much a requirement as it is a preference.” Ottoline answers hearing Eloise’s name being called. 

“You have the brains of a thousand men.” Sebastian smiles. 

“Thank you.” Ottoline nods. 

“It wasn’t a compliment.” Sebastian replies. 

“Sebastian. Be nice.” Arabella scolds lightly, smacking her husband with a fan. 

Sebastian sighs, “ All I want for you is a nice marriage to a nice gentleman, but do not take anyone’s affections for granted.” 

“What affections? Most of these men have visited me only to pay you a favor in return.” Ottoline says as the presentations grind to a halt with the arrival of Lady’s Whistledown’s papers.

“I have seen enough.” The Queen walks out. 

“Does this mean I can go.” Eloise asks, grabbed by her mother. 

“I don’t know what this means.” Violet answers letting go. 

Eloise runs back prompting Daphne to call out but remains in her line. The royal attendants begin passing out Lady Whistledown’s papers. 

Ottoline looks over Arabella’s shoulder as she reads. 

Dearest Gentle Reader, 

Did you miss me? 

The event ended early with the Lady Whistledown’s arrival back to the ton sparking rumors and speculation about who she might be. Ottoline rolls her eyes at those partaking in the speculation especially Arabella who multiple times suspected Ottoline. Arriving home early from the presentation Ottoline let her hair down, began reading and continued to make small annotations in the margins.

Job Role: Detective Sergeant ~ AC-12 (Not quite a DI yet.)

Info: Southerner through and through. Extremely protective of Diana, even though he knows she can handle herself. Gentle, a little moody and a hard worker. Feels like he has to make Diana proud - but constantly let’s her down (struggled to keep it in his pants a couple of times.) Probably always had feelings for Diana. Favourite part of the day is having lunch with Diana. Is most certainly not H. Can be read like an open book. Calls everyone “mate.” Knows that he’ll always have Diana’s support - regardless of what happens.

Richard Wilkins

Age: 33

Job Role: Crime Scene Investigator.

Nickname(s): Rich (Most people) & Knob (Steve.)

Info: Diana’s rather clingy ex-boyfriend. Cheated on her with a friend. Saying that - Is good at his job. A scientific mind. Has a mutual dislike with Steve. Became secretive towards the end of their relationship - series 2/3. Is he H? Maybe, maybe not. Still occasionally works alongside Diana. Knows Jill Bigalow a little too well.

Kate Fleming

Age: 34

Job Role: Detective Inspector ~ Murder Investigation Team (Fmr. AC-12.)

Nickname(s): Mate (Steve) & Kay (Diana.)

Info: Nottingham born and bred. Separated from Mark. An amazing mum to Josh. Treats Diana like the sister she never had. Proud, considerate and one the best undercover officers going. Also calls everyone “mate.” Could be H, but don’t think she is. Extremely secretive at times. Loyal to those around her - gets her into tricky situations at times. Never misses the chance to have a glass of wine with Diana.

Matthew “Dot” Cottan

Characters with ♚ were originally made for a friend and that is mostly why they are selective. Astrid was a character for an OC of my friend's named Noah and Leah is made for that same friend's brother named Levi. Astrid had been one I jumped around for a while about, we had talked about Noah having a daughter but never settled on a real name for her until just a few days ago. For a while I thought she was going to be named Samantha so since her name was never completely settled, she could never be added to any blog for me.

Underworld (2014), Aurore and Damien, 16 and 18 y.o.:

"- You once said that my eyes were the colors of lilacs, a color you had never seen before. You know, Damien, it's been the kindest and most beautiful thing you could ever tell me and I will never forget it. Please, try to remember... -

My hand shifted between his dark brown hair and I rose on my tiptoes, the most I could. When our lips met, at last, in the right and natural way, as it should be, we kissed. Damien hesitated for some instants, then he let go the grip on my wrist and his hand ended up entwining with mine. His free arm was around my waist and he kept me against his body. For the first time, I completely realized Mum's words. His lips were so warm and soft and they matched mine as if they were created to meet. It was so sweet and intense at the same time so much that I amost felt like it wasn't anything else around us that wasn't us. Yes, it was like losing my own soul to gain another double. And it was exquisitely marveillous. Then, after a time that I wasn't able to define, so much I was dazed by that kiss, we parted away. I opened my eyes and so he did. Emerald and amethyst together.

- Aurore. - he whispered, with amazed and tender voice. I smiled at him, feeling my cheeks burning."

Dark Circus (2020), Kate and Alexander, 26 and 35 y.o.:

"Alexander moved closer and I lifted my eyes, meeting his, again. He was so serious and pensive that I almost feel embarassed. His fingers moved to caress my face and the contact with his warm skin made me eager. I closed my eyes, letting myself go to the pleasure of that touch, until I heard his voice.

- Kate... are you sure? - I nodded, with my furious heart racing as if it wanted to get out from my chest. He also should feel the same and when his lips found mine, I clearly felt the sensation of a broken levee. A kiss that began almost reverential, to become more confident and deeper, when I answer to it with the same desire. How many times I had imagined, in those months spent together, how having been kissed by him would be? We almost had, but then, he desisted. I didn't fully understand why he did it, that time. I understood it that night. It didn't only mean letting go. He had asked me if I was sure of what I was doing. Of what I wanted. He needed me to be truly ready and that there weren't ghosts between us anymore. Even if it meant holding his own feelings back. After all, he had always had a very singular way to protect me."

After... Well... Years? An infinite list of drawings in the trashcan? Ahahahahahah I finally managed to draw my original characters from Dark Circus!! I use to make sketches/drawings of all my characters from all the stories I write, but this time I was never truly satisfied with the results... It's not easy when you have a picture of your characters in your mind but you can't draw it for a reason of for another... I'm not fully satisfied yet, but more or less, this is how my couple of protagonists looks like! Alexander looks like a madman... 🤣🤣 He's actually very self-restrained at first but he has also a bad tantrum, prone to challenge and finds it amusing... Kate here looks so sweet and calm, but she can be very stubborn and combative!!

While I’ve been waiting for the inspiration to come back so I’ll be able to draw again... XD I’m putting the pictures under spoilers, but I found the old first sketches I made by using Rinmaru Games to create the looks of the female characters from Dark Circus. I never found the male equivalent of the game (I guess it was Winter Creator), so I had to use another game, but it wasn’t the same and I can’t find the pictures now. ò_ò

Another excerpt from Dark Circus. I’m on my way to finish this story, even though an unexpected cliffhanger crossed my mind while I was thinking... I wonder what kind of route it will follow... 

- I am Oz, the great and powerful! - Novak's voice sounded cavernous and amplified to the maximum, making us startling. We were unable to determine where it came from, since it echoed across the room as if it were played in dolby surround. - Seriously? - Alexander protested, hardening his face. - He is recreating his show ... - I explained. - So we should be the spectators.-  He continued, then he  looked around. - No, wait. It is not so. He wouldn't have bothered to put up this farce just to let us be spectators ... he knows we're here to stop him. Still, he wants us to be part of all this. It satisfies him. - I nodded. - The characters of the Wizard of Oz ... - This time he growled  - Bastard... - I thought about the story. Dorothy was Lucy, held captive who knows where. Then there was Alexander and I, of course. Novak said he would give Alexander's heart to me. I bit my lips at the bitter thought of what I thought was just a macabre warning. He identified me as the heartless Tin Woodman. Ironic, to be honest. On the other hand, I could no longer be his Dorothy, since I had changed my look and there was nothing left of that little girl with long and braided hair, but, above all, I had preferred another person to him, despite his warnings . And that person, whose eyes looked to the past in observing that deadly scenario, had been dragged to a place from which he would have come out alive only if his courage had been greater than the desire for revenge. Novak must have seen it too. He was proud and dangerous as the Lion, Alexander, but would he have the courage not to succumb to his greatest weakness? If he did, his life would have been destroyed, but if he hadn't, then ... I sighed in pain, looking around. We missed the Scarecrow, which did not have a brain. A sinister omen crossed my mind when I realized what might have happened to Jace.

Satisfaction: reaching a moment in the story you've been writing for years when you can tell the scene you've dreamt, planned and been crazy for since the beginning!! 😍😍😍😍💕💕

During these vacancies I wrote at least 50 pages... It was like the writer's block suddenly had left me and I was filled with a lot of new ideas! I'm really happy because the storytelling now goes plain and well, reconnecting all the previous blindspots and allowing me to write new, unexpected scenes! I'm glad that my characters still whisper their stories, I'm glad that my Kate's story is becoming solid and slowly, it's going to its resolution... I'm happy because this is the first time I write a procedural thriller (since I'm more proficient in fantasy) but it's been slowly fitting! ♥️ My mind is continuously thinking to what to write, imaging everything... And I'm sorry for this spam, but I'm really feeling confident and satisfied!! ♥️♥️♥️
