OC Valentine's Challenge -> Day 4: Friends to Lovers

They bonded over books and music. That's how their friendship formed. Over the years at camp, they would carve out time in their day specifically to find each other, release to the other excitably everything they learned about one thing in particular; whatever was piquing their interest at the time. Malcolm would talk about architecture and design, and Lara would listen. Lara would talk about the latest music trend, or some 1900s-based band she discovered, and Malcolm would make a mental note to listen to them that night, to better understand his best friend.

In the aftermath of the Labyrinth battle, once all the injured had been tended to and damage had been addressed and the dead had been honoured, they stole away to the edge of the woods, right on the boundary where the trees led to field led to Thalia's old pine, and they got to talking...

Talking about how life would be different now: more accelerated, more strenuous, more en guard for Titan and monster action. About how anything could end in an instant.

...And that's when she kissed him.

In the midst of all these endings, and in the loss of innocence and their paradisiacal camp days, something began. The Wise and the Sunshine.

Kelly Fortson

Son of Ares. Like his father, he’s brash and unsentimental, but his mind is hardwired for tactics. He can think three moves ahead while on his feet. Introverted and sullen, he doesn’t have many friends in camp, and while he may be partially bothered by how close everyone else is with one another, he clings tight to the few relationships he does have, fiercely protective until the end. He also has type A haemophilia, a genetic blood condition that was recessive in his mother and passed down unto him. Despite its severity, he does not let it stand in the way of his duty to the camp. [MBTI = INTJ]

Lara Irvine

Daughter of Apollo. In all save her life. She likes planning ahead and sticking to the plan instead, even if the plan is proving to be less and less likely to succeed each passing moment. It stems from her lack of trust in the unknown. She’s highly creative and has a natural affinity for any sort of art as well as performance. Growing up, she learned guitar from her adoptive father and his friends. [MBTI = ENFP]

Lisa Carson

Daughter of Athena. She started growing up in the 1980s only to accidentally find an entrance to the labyrinth and skip through the next two and a half decades while navigating the inside. However, to her, only ten months have passed. When she resurfaced in the mid-2000s, everything was different. Everything. From the technology to the slang to the way she had no way to contact her home anymore. Last time she dialled, she received an electronic beeping and a robotic voice declaring disconnection. More lost than every before, Lisa tries to navigate life as an eighties girl in a two-thousands kind of world. [MBTI = ISTJ]

Shiloh Etzioni

Son of Tyche. His father’s career as a mathematics professor is what pulled Shiloh’s godly mother towards him. His father was hell-bent on yanking down the curtain obscuring the mystery behind coincidence and luck, as he didn’t believe in luck. For all of his son’s childhood, he would preach the idea that math was perfect, math was flawless, and most importantly, math was everything. He want as far as to try to explain away the meeting with Shiloh’s mother – a meeting so raw, so coincidental – through a formulaic lens, impressing it into the back of Shiloh’s psyche that luck should be a myth. That being said, Shiloh has always been surrounded with good fortune: forget to study? scrape by with the correct multiple-choice anyways; missed the bus? teacher was out sick anyways. Though, he never cared about figuring out why though, and due to their rocky relationship, Shiloh would go as far as to rub any coincidence into his father’s face as he could. For as long as they lived under the same roof. But then? He didn’t have to: at fifteen years old, his cocky attitude landed him in competitive waters, which led to him running out on home and in the process, fortunately – luckily –, finding camp half-blood. [MBTI = ESFP]
