The apology letters that Donald Trump-allied lawyers Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro were required to write as a condition of their plea deals in the Georgia election interference case are just one sentence long. The letters, obtained Thursday by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution through an open records request, were hand-written and terse. Neither letter acknowledges the legitimacy of Democrat Joe Biden’s win in Georgia’s 2020 election nor denounces the baseless conspiracy theories they pushed to claim Trump was cheated out of victory through fraud. “I apologize for my actions in connection with the events in Coffee County,” Powell wrote in a letter dated Oct. 19, the same day she pleaded guilty to six misdemeanors accusing her of conspiring to intentionally interfere with the performance of election duties. “I apologize to the citizens of the state of Georgia and of Fulton County for my involvement in Count 15 of the indictment,” Chesebro wrote in a letter dated Oct. 20, when he appeared in court to plead guilty to one felony charge of conspiracy to commit filing false documents. A spokesperson for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who brought the election interference case, declined Thursday to comment on the contents of the letters. Powell and Chesebro were among four defendants to plead guilty in the case after reaching agreements with prosecutors. They were indicted alongside Trump and others in August and charged with participating in a wide-ranging scheme to illegally keep the Republican in power. The remaining 15 defendants — including Trump, lawyer Rudy Giuliani and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows — have all pleaded not guilty.

Calling Game of Thrones fans with knowledge of the fandom's history! [see also: Supernatural version]

I'm in the midst of putting together some fandom deep dives as part of my analysis of TV Fandom Fix-Its on AO3, including GoT. I'm trying to give context for how many fanworks the fandom was producing overall, and when overall spikes in fandom activity were happening, and I could use help.

Specifically, I'm trying to label AO3 activity spikes with what episodes/events seemed to contribute to them. But I'm probably missing important context. E.g., I know there were other events like fanwork exchanges happening that might have been contributors to some activity spikes, or things the show creators said/did might also have contributed sometimes.

If you have theories about why the red spikes between seasons happened near the following dates, that would be excellent:

Baghdad committed to end presence of US troops in Iraq: Iraqi general - AlMayadeen

Spokesman for Iraq's Joint Operations Command (JOC) Brigadier General Yahya Rasool stated on Sunday that the government of Iraq is determined to terminate the deployment of foreign troops associated with the US-led military coalition, which was originally formed to combat ISIS. "The Iraqi government is resolute to put an end to the deployment of foreign forces in the country. It has devised a vision plan for the next stage, which includes joint technical activities intended for the US-led coalition's departure and subsequent security and military cooperation," Rasool stated. He further stressed that the presence of the US-led military coalition in Iraq is no longer deemed necessary, noting that the capabilities of Iraqi forces are high enough to address terrorism-related issues themselves. On Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani reiterated the call for the coalition's departure. "The end of the US-led coalition mission is a necessity for the security and stability of Iraq. It is also a necessity for preserving constructive bilateral relations between Iraq and the coalition countries," Sudani stated during a televised event at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Sudani has consistently expressed the desire for foreign troops to leave Iraq, with the country adopting a law to expel foreign forces following the assassination of top Iraqi and Iranian anti-terror commanders in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020. Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh admitted earlier this week that US forces in the region came under attack 140 times [since 7 Oct]. Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, Singh disclosed that the attacks have been "persistent and alarming."

Before and After Spacecraft Touchdown on Bennu

Captured on Oct. 20 during the OSIRIS-REx mission’s Touch-And-Go (TAG) sample collection event, this series of 2 images shows the SamCam imager’s field of view at the moment before and after the NASA spacecraft touched down on asteroid Bennu’s surface. The sampling event brought the spacecraft all the way down to sample site Nightingale, and the team on Earth received confirmation of successful touchdown at 6:08 pm EDT. Preliminary data show the sampling head touched Bennu’s surface for approximately 6 seconds, after which the spacecraft performed a back-away burn.

Welcome to our third edition of the Hayden Young Appreciation Week! We started this way back in 2020, during the lockdown, and it's been a blast spreading our love for this amazing character ever since!!

Hayden is the heart and soul of Perfect Match - their tenacity, their unwavering love and their deep questions about life and identity make the story so much more interesting and nuanced.

For Day 1, we have two themes for you to try. One is of course Character Appreciation, where you can appreciate practically anything about Hayden!

There is also Vacation as a theme! We all know that PM as a story has its characters travelling around the world, either to get away from Eros or to plan their next move. Hayden, in particular, seems to thrive in different settings, exploring different cultures - even more so if their MC chooses the polyglot skill for them!

Any work is welcome – fics, art, edits, moodboards, interactive media, headcanons, meta, even screenshots of your favourite scenes! Our only requirements are that the works are original (nothing AI generated), and they center Hayden and present a positive depiction of them.

It is not necessary to put up your works only on the day of the theme – you can always put it up later. We will also be keeping a buffer week in case you’re not able to complete it during the week itself (till Oct 10th).

Near Halloween, they investigate a ghostly sighting at a mansion in the English countryside. The events of their investigation bring their feelings for each other to the fore.

Food goes on the food shelf by avalanching effect (G, 5,283 w., 1 Ch. || Halloween, Pre-Slash, Crack/Humour, Cannibalism, Magical Realism, Witches, Light Gore, POV Sherlock) – John, (without conferring with Sherlock) implements a system of organization in the kitchen. There are areas designated as 'experiment' areas, and others as 'food safe' areas. Crossover, however, is bound to happen.

A series of spooky incidents brings them together in a candlelit bedroom, the night ripe for revelations and facing fears.

The Babadook by CatieBrie (T, 6,886 w., 1 Ch. || Babadook Fusion || Post-TRF, Horror, Demonic Possession, Violence, Halloween, Grief, Angst with Happy Ending) – “A children’s book,” John mutters as he flips it open. The pages are scrawled with beautiful charcoal lines and thick black ink. The cover, bright red, edges the open pages and something tugs at the back of John’s brain. It’s a familiar feeling, black and tarrish and thick in his thoughts. He shakes it off and picks the book up off his bed, turning so that he can sit on the edge and spread the book out across his knees. If it’s in a word or it’s in a look, you can’t get rid of the Babadook. He turns the page, ignoring the pressure building beneath his chest. There’s a closet on one page; paper doors meant to be opened by the reader flutter as John reads the text on the other page.

The Spirit Child by VelvetMace (M, 7,287 w., 1 Ch. || Psychological Horror, Disturbing Themes, Horror, Gore) – A small wooden box filled with clay and feotus bones yields more than just clues to a violent murder. A Halloween Story. Read at your own risk -- and I do not say this lightly.

Were it Well by merelypassingtime (G, 7,496 w., 6 Ch. || Shapeshifter AU || Crack, Halloween) – When moving in with the world's only consulting detective John is concerned he won't be able to keep his secret. Turns out he need not have worried.

In the Shadows of 221B by CarmillaCarmine (E, 8,299 w., 5 Ch. || Halloween, Friends to Lovers, Spooky Smut) – On a stormy, Halloween night, Sherlock appears changed, but John isn't about to complain about anything Sherlock wants to do to him. Part 10 of the The Stories of Angst and Heartbreak series

Actress and Author, Lara Parker, of Dark Shadows, Passes at 84

Lara Parker, who found the role of a lifetime at just 28 years old when she was cast by Dark Shadows producer Dan Curtis as the beautiful, vengeful and altogether evil witch Angelique Bouchard Collins, died October 12 in her sleep in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer. She was 84.

Her death was announced by producer Jim Pierson of Dan Curtis Productions, on behalf of Parker’s family.

“I’m heartbroken, as all of us are who knew and loved her,” said her Dark Shadows co-star and longtime friend Kathryn Leigh Scott in a statement. “She graced our lives with her beauty, talent and friendship, and we are all richer for having had her in our lives.”

Parker was born Mary Lamar Rickey on Oct. 27, 1938, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her father, Albert, was an attorney, and her mother, Ann, was active in civic groups.

She graduated from Central High School in Memphis and attended Vassar — she roomed with Jane Fonda there — and Rhodes College in Memphis, where at 19 she served as Wink Martindale’s assistant on his WHBQ-TV show, Dance Party. She then earned a master’s degree from the University of Iowa.

Parker, who also authored four popular Dark Shadows-related novels from 1998-2016, arrived on the supernatural soap opera in 1967, not long after Canadian actor Jonathan Frid had been cast as vampire Barnabas Collins. Frid’s storyline changed the show from a moody, Gothic Jane Eyre-type serial into a flat-out horror show.

During breaks in production, Parker acted on Broadway in September 1968 in Woman Is My Idea, which lasted just five performances, and in the early Brian De Palma film Hi, Mom! (1970), starring Robert De Niro.

And toward the end of the daytime serial, she and fellow castmembers including John Karlen, Kate Jackson, David Selby and Grayson Hall appeared in the poorly received MGM film Night of Dark Shadows (1971).

In 1972, Parker relocated to Los Angeles and went on to appear on episodes of such shows as Medical Center, Kojak, The Rockford Files, Police Woman, Kolchak: The Night Stalker (as a witch) and The Incredible Hulk, where she played David Banner’s first wife in a flashback sequence in the pilot.

In her later years, Parker turned to writing and teaching — her novels include Angelique’s Descent (1998), The Salem Branch (2006), Wolf Moon Rising (2013) and Heiress of Collinwood (2016). The books proved popular among Dark Shadows‘ still-devoted, conventions-attending fan base, as well as devotees of romance and horror genre novels.

Parker kept in touch with her co-stars including Scott, Selby, Roger Davis, the late John Karlen and others throughout her life, particularly once the conventions became annual events in the late 1980s through the 1990s and up to the 50th anniversary celebration in 2017.

Many of the original cast, including Parker, recorded a series of Dark Shadows audio dramas in the 2000s released by Big Finish Productions. They also reunited for a “Smartphone Theatre” Zoom-style, Covid-era performance of A Christmas Carol in 2021 and, on Halloween night 2020, a YouTube/Zoom Dark Shadows cast reunion.

Parker is survived by second husband Jim Hawkins, daughter Caitlin, sons Rick and Andy, and their wives Miranda and Celia; and grandson Wesley.

Iran’s outgoing intelligence minster, Esmail Khatib, must be eating his words. In late July, he boasted that “dismantling Mossad’s infiltration network” in Iran was the greatest achievement of his three-year tenure.

Six days later in the heart of Tehran, Israel assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh while he was under the protection of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). What makes the assassination especially noteworthy is that the Iranian regime regards the IRGC’s own intelligence and counterintelligence capabilities as far more sophisticated than those of Khatib’s ministry. In fact, within the IRGC’s internal structures, the security-intelligence axis embedded within the all-powerful IRGC Intelligence Organization is the most powerful and influential force not only within the IRGC, but also more broadly in Iran—the crème de la crème of the regime’s security apparatus.

Let there be no mistake: The assassination of Haniyeh in an IRGC guesthouse in Tehran was a colossal intelligence failure. It has exposed major vulnerabilities within the IRGC’s intelligence apparatus, including likely foreign infiltration at the highest levels.

This is the biggest takeaway from the killing of Haniyeh—not his death, per se. Beyond the immediate question of Iran’s direct response to Israel, the regime’s paranoia at home will likely increase as it tries to root out foreign infiltration and tighten its grip on the security services as its supreme leader, the 85-year-old Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prepares for his succession, a crucial and potentially destabilizing event for the regime.

Of course, this is not the IRGC’s first intelligence failure. In April, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, the IRGC Quds Force’s commander for the Levant—responsible for coordinating Hezbollah attacks—was killed in a targeted strike in Syria at a secretive Quds Force annex next to the Iranian Embassy. There was also the targeted killing in November 2020 of IRGC scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the father of Iran’s nuclear weapons program, who was also under IRGC protection.

The big difference this time, however, is that the intelligence failure took place while Haniyeh was in an IRGC compound in the heart of Tehran, where he had traveled from Qatar to attend the inauguration of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

High-value terrorist leaders have always considered Iran to be one of the very few safe havens for them to travel, reside, and operate. These include Imad Mughniyeh—Hezbollah’s chief of operations, assassinated in Syria in 2008—whose daughter wrote in her Farsi memoirs that her father only felt safe on Iranian territory. Al Qaeda leader Saif al-Adel currently resides in Iran. Even leaders of European organized crime syndicates such as the Ireland-based Kinahan transnational criminal group have reportedly found refuge there.

The IRGC’s habit of guaranteeing sanctuary to terrorist figures has enabled it to easily cultivate and co-opt some of the deadliest militant organizations in the world, whose members often enjoy lavish lifestyles while they use Iran for training and plotting terror attacks. According to intelligence reports described by the Wall Street Journal, some of the Hamas militants who breached the Israel-Gaza border and conducted the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre were trained by the IRGC in Iran.

Israel’s ability to kill Haniyeh in an IRGC-protected compound at a time when the IRGC Intelligence Organization would have been on high alert will alter the perceived dynamic of Iran as a safe haven. The assassination will make terrorist leaders think twice before seeking refuge there and likely complicate the relationship between the Iranian regime and its proxies.

This is a significant setback for the regime. Whereas the intelligence leaks that led to the assassinations of Zahedi or Quds Force Commander Qassem Suleimani in Iraq in 2020 could be blamed on foreign moles, the responsibility in this case lies squarely with the IRGC. The IRGC’s fear of losing face can be seen in the organization’s quick denials of Western media reports that explosives had been smuggled into the IRGC guesthouse where Haniyeh was staying. To deflect blame from the IRGC, officials instead blamed a projectile fired from nearby. These attempts to dodge responsibility, however, did not prevent Iranian authorities from arresting more than two dozen individuals linked to the guesthouse and overhauling security protocols.

This strike in the heart of Tehran will only increase the anxieties of an already-paranoid Khamenei and IRGC about Israeli infiltration at the highest levels of security in the IRGC Intelligence Organization.

Over the past few years, Khamenei has sought to mitigate foreign infiltration by purging the IRGC’s senior ranks following successive domestic intelligence failures. In 2009, for example, after the Green Movement threatened the stability of the regime following the disputed reelection of then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Khamenei restructured the IRGC’s Basij militia and intelligence apparatuses.

A significant ouster also took place in June 2022, when hard-line cleric Hossein Taeb—one of the regime’s most powerful figures—was removed as the head of the IRGC Intelligence Organization. Taeb’s replacement—Brig. Gen. Mohammad Kazemi, the former head of the IRGC Counterintelligence Organization, which is tasked with identifying moles in the regime—exposed the ayatollah’s paranoid state of mind in relation to foreign infiltration. Replacing a cleric with a seasoned intelligence commander was also intended to improve the operational efficacy of the IRGC’s operations abroad.

But if Kazemi was brought in to make up for the successive intelligence failures that had led to key regime figures and nuclear sites being targeted and IRGC attacks against Israelis being consistently foiled, Haniyeh’s death showed that it was to no avail.

The man who succeeded Kazemi as the IRGC Counterintelligence Organization commander, Majid Khademi, will also come under new scrutiny: His agency is tasked with rooting out spies within the IRGC, and it clearly failed. Also at issue is the future of the IRGC’s Ansar al-Mahdi Protection Unit, which guards high-level Iranian and visiting officials. This unit has suffered from turnover in recent years amid suspicion of infiltration by foreign intelligence organizations. For example, its commander Ali Nasiri was removed in 2019 amid suspicions about his loyalties. Nasiri reappeared in the Counterintelligence Organization and was reportedly arrested there later. His successor, Brig. Gen. Fathollah Jomeiri, has overseen a series of spectacular failures, including the assassinations of Fakhrizadeh and Haniyeh. In all likelihood, officers of the Ansar al-Mahdi Protection Unit were guarding both.

Now that these vulnerabilities have been exposed, the IRGC will be all the more determined to save face and make up for its failings. There are numerous short-, medium-, and long-term options for its leadership to respond.

In Tehran, Khamenei’s appetite for doubling down on purging the regime’s security-intelligence apparatus will increase following Haniyeh’s death. The foreign infiltration that enabled the assassination of such a well-protected, high-value target has taken place against the backdrop of preparations for the supreme leader’s succession. Over the past five years, Khamenei has put most his remaining energy into ensuring a smooth and orderly succession process. His passing will inevitably be a potentially destabilizing moment for the regime, and he will want to ensure that the IRGC has full control over the security situation prior to his demise.

The sudden death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who was one of the two front-runners to succeed Khamenei, was a major setback for the ayatollah’s succession plans. At a time when the security-intelligence apparatus of the regime has clearly been compromised, guaranteeing the security of the other candidate—Khamenei’s power-hungry son, Mojtaba—will be at the front of the aging ayatollah’s mind. The complete unraveling of Khamenei’s succession plans—and a major danger to the survival of the regime—is now only one assassination away. After the Israeli operation in Tehran last week, another wave of internal purges is all but guaranteed.

The Iranian regime’s response to Israel could take several forms. While much of the global commentary is framing Iran’s response to Israel in terms of the usual tit for tat, Khamenei and the IRGC will be driven by different concerns. For the latter, the response will be driven by the intent to uproot foreign infiltration and inflict enough damage to the Israelis to stop them operating against the regime on Iranian soil.

Until now, the main discussion on how this would be achieved has been centered on the likelihood of a conventional military response, similar to the Iranian drone and missile barrage against Israel in April.

In tandem with this type of conventional attack, a global campaign of terror against Israelis and Jews should not be ruled out. After various IRGC plots to kill Israelis were foiled in recent years, Kazemi will be all the more motivated to make up for these failures. The IRGC may calculate that while it may be unable to meaningfully shift Israel’s calculus through conventional means—due to the Israeli military’s military superiority, especially in air defense—a campaign of terror against unarmed Israelis and Jewish people abroad could put enough pressure on the Israeli government to avoid striking inside Iran.

Another option is for the IRGC to significantly ramp up its nuclear escalation, which is already near breakout levels. Increasing enrichment to 90 percent, even if only by a symbolic amount, is something that the regime could consider as a way to show Israel that the Haniyeh assassination crossed a red line. Given the lack of any serious response to Iran’s nuclear activities for years, Iranian decision-makers may calculate that they would not face much backlash on the world stage.

However, Tehran’s main concern will be with its own intelligence and security failures. These could have significant long-term implications for the Iranian regime’s military and security services—with purges and paranoia lasting long after the promised riposte to Israel.

A professor who appeared beside a top Hamas leader was due to speak on “genocide” at Harvard Monday — the same day as a deadline for the university to finally comply with a congressional subpoena demanding answers on antisemitism.

Noura Erakat, an associate professor of Africana studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, was scheduled to speak on “We Charge Genocide; The Potential and Limits of International Law,” at the school’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies — after months of making anti-Israeli speeches.

The lecture by the controversial academic, who is also a human rights attorney, came amid mounting accusations that Harvard has failed to tackle antisemitism on its campus in the wake of the Hamas massacre of hundreds of innocent Israelis on October 7.

4Embattled Harvard University faces a deadline today over complying with subpoenas issued by a congressional committee probing the Ivy League school’s failure to discipline students for antisemitism.

And the speech was scheduled just as Harvard hits a deadline to hand over documents demanded by the House Education Committee as it probes antisemitism on campus.

Harvard had already been granted an extension to cooperate with the probe, formally launched after a December hearing in which its then-president Claudine Gay said that whether calling for the genocide of Israelis broke Harvard’s policies depended on “context.”

But Erakat’s speech appears likely to inflame tensions. From the beginning of the Hamas atrocities committed against Israelis, Erakat has blamed Israel alone for the violence.

“Any condemnation of violence is vapid if it does not begin & end with a condemnation of Israeli apartheid, settler colonialism, and occupation,” Erakat posted on X to her more than 176,000 followers on Oct. 7.

A few days later, on Oct. 16, she tweeted to President Biden “…@POTUS repeated the lie about beheaded [Israeli] babies [by Hamas], directed US diplomatic corps to avoid calls for ceasefire [between Israel and Hamas], & backs Israel’s genocidal warfare [in Gaza]…”

In 2020, she participated in an online workshop along with senior Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad that was hosted by Palestinian nonprofit the Masarat Center, according to a post advertising the event.

I was asked how redgrasshopper and I met and realized it was a story to share. If you wanna know.

Back in late 2020, my partner at the time was active on Fet. He asked if he could add me as a partner on there. So, I reactivated my dead account and added a photo, and confirmed the poly relationship. Some how that photo ended up in redgrasshopper's feed and he like and commented I had beautiful eyes.

Trying to see what events that past partner had RSVP-ED to because his ADHD he would double book himself, messing up our time because I am auto immune and we needed his social outtings to have time between in order to see me safely. Hindsight, I was trying to micromanaging a damage relationship, Was the only reason I was ever on FET.

In June 2021, I gained more self-confidence and uploaded another photo after a self-esteem boosting photoshoot. Redgrasshopper, once again, left a kind comment. I thank him and left it at that.

In July 2022, I faced significant personal challenges. Two of my relationships were deteriorating, causing me emotional distress. My world was undergoing rapid changes, and I was physically and emotionally renovating my home. I had to make the difficult decision to evict and disown my father due to his involvement in drug dealing and an armed robbery that occurred in my family home.

Despite everything I was latching on to joy by attempting to ride a NRE wave with a comet partner. My therapist supported this endeavor at the time. However, this pursuit ultimately led to the end of my three-year relationship with my partner.

I logged into FET, and saw a meme about ratio body to pen1s most men are technically hung like a horse. I love the body positive aspect and liked that meme that Redgrasshopper had posted.

He messaged me a kind hello. Pleasantries exchanged and I was terrible about logging in to the site so there were days between messages. But they were always kind and no pressure. I was also very distant to the idea of meeting a decent person not sexually driven on that site. Yes I passed unfair judgements.

When we started to chat I was very blunt that my life was a mess, choas was pretty normal in my life, and I have zero sex drive.

He apologized that I was in a hard place offered a ear nothing more. We share about my current renovation and how he was a small construction business owner.

Slowly we chatted more and more july-october but I was purposely keeping one foot out the door. Oct 18th he asked if I wanted to join him for lunch. And I did. We had tacos and talked. He was so attentive and oddly felt safe from the start.

On pair for my normal, The next day I had a double ear infection from allergies and was at the dr getting meds as one side had ruptured. *fun*

He asked if I had eaten yet and I had not so he invited me to meet him again for lunch. We talked. I rambled all my chronic health shit. And some back story to my very crazy life. He simple engaged and listened. Nothing scared him away. And to be honest I was trying to. I wasnlaying out the complex shit being in my life entails. We continued to meet up whenever we could, which was almost daily and would sit and talk.

Nov6th2022 he had asked if i wanted to hang out and run errands with him and i said yes. I was watching him handle different tasks and I caught myself wondering what his lips might feel or taste like. I knew I was catching feelings and I worried I might be trying to numb a messy situation with NRE.

The next eveing he had a change of plans and had some open time to hang out while getting parts for a job at Lowes. While in the garden center i joked about riding a flat cart like a surf board and he said so do it! I want someone to break rules, or be silly in public but i felt safe to. He helped hold the cart still and pushed me on it. When I was on the cart facing him, we both holding the rail, I almost kissed him. Like a cheesy rom-com. But I didn't.

We sat in the parking lot for 3 hrs talking In my car. When it was time to go i took him to his car. But I decided I thought about kissing him for hours I should just go for it. and I did!

We talked, via text later about it and both agreed we had pretty significant feeling for a while, we had a fairnidea in eachothers dynamic and headspace, and we labeled it, we picked the day we frist met as our anniversary because we both agreed we felt a different kind of connection at our frist meeting.

In a few weeks we will have been together two years and as I have shared in many different post how he has added so much healing joy and experience to my life and that of my family. He has brought a type of love and support to my life I have longed for... this whole ass man (as my therpist calls him) is the universe saying now.

In the last two years, we have also found we have been crossing paths, knowing same people, and under each others feet for the last 25 years

so i had this thing in the back of my mind that i wanted to share a little bit about, because i think it’s highlights a little bit of karlie’s easter egging prowess

so as many of you know, i have had a certain piece of jewelry identification that’s been top of mind for awhile. a mysterious (and hilarious) evil eye necklace that karlie first wore on her birthday last year, august 3rd, 2022:

it took a long while to identify but with the help of @kwyw and @corneliastvendor and input from many more, we diligently settled upon a match with the brand Mejuri.

…i dunno if you remember, but back at the beginning of the year @kwyw also pointed out that there was an extra connection, between this evil eye necklace and the amulette de cartier:

the amulette de cartier has its own place in kaylor lore (if it’s new to you you can read about that here and here and here). but, veterans of quarantine kaylor remember how this rep era necklace made a unique surprise appearance during lover/folklore era, ultimately coinciding with karlie’s 2020 pregnancy. which, given the symbolism of the necklace, i think made a lot of thematic sense… being pregnant during the height of a pandemic is scary and, speaking from experience, i as well found myself in search of things to give me that extra peace of mind.

so seeing the necklace have that Courage keyword connection, i couldn’t help but uhhh, have a feeling so peculiar. now, with the gift of more (celebratory) information, let’s take a look at all the times karlie has worn this necklace (*reminder that some of these may be a day off because of the big time zone difference between me and the US):

and then, at the met gala on May 1st, wearing loewe, she announces her pregnancy, and tells everybody that she is nearly 8 months along!

now, if we are to assume that she is 8 months along this may, we can count back ( 7mo along in april, 6mo march, 5mo feb, 4mo jan, 3mo dec, 2mo nov, 1mo along in oct, 0mo sept) and see how in order to have conceived in september, prep for that would likely have started in… yes, the month before. august! aka… when she first debuted the evil eye necklace!

and when you look back at all the phrases and contexts accompanying her posts with the piece, you can kind of see how the necklace works in concert with her setting her intentions, potentially celebrating milestones like finding out, telling people, hitting the 5 mo mark which is when the majority of pregnancies become more stable, etc… this is all to say, and this is just a simple thing but, i feel confident in saying that this necklace was in fact one way of her hinting at her next child, since all the way back in august 2022 ☺️ and since it’s an eye necklace? well, 😌 all the more nice of a feeling.
