I slept surprisingly well in the swag, woke up at sometime after 6 by birds wo where squawking with the sunrise. Today is a filled day, so during breakfast we all made ourselves lunch as well. Since I was ready I helped clean up a bit, I mean it’s no big deal for me. At 8 our group left for another visitor centre, this one in warradjgan, one that explained more about the history of the different clans of aboriginals in this part of Australia. Only this weekend did a magnificent waterfall open up again for people to visit, so that’s on the plan. It’s a 4WD road to it, and before this weekend it was just not possible to drive it. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t what I got. When they say ofroading, I’m pretty sure this is what they mean. Bloody hell. It’s a good thing I always sit in the front because I don’t think I would have survived in the back, or even more towards the back. I know my sister would have been sick in at least 20 minutes. Even though we all got shaken like a saltshaker it was actually pretty fun. At the end of the very bumpy and windy road there was a 2km long hike. I severely underestimated this one. It was basically rock climbing, we had to go up and around boulders that were so high I had to sit on my bum to get off some of them. The heat also didn’t help! The sign said an hour and we did it about in about 45 min. It was worth every drop of sweat though, that waterfall was gorgeous!

There are loads of crocodiles up here, so swimming is not safe everywhere, but because the lake that follows into a stream has different levels with bolders in it. The top lake was perfectly fine. Now I’m definitely not a swimmer, but I’m not missing an opportunity like this. The water was cold but no colder as the pool yesterday. Some of the group swam all the way to the base of the waterfall, but I refrained. I don’t like swimming to begin with and it’s much to deep with god knows what else down there with you. On the side where the lake turned into a stream there even was a small sandy beach. In was in the sun and it was breathtaking. We all swam and had fun for over an hour. I’m so glad I brought my tropicfeel sneakers so I didn’t have to go barefoot in the water. My legs took a beating however, the water was pretty clear but all the rocks, even though they are smooth still hurt when you scrape your legs over them while swimming. When it was time to head back to the bus, it was way easier because we had the difficult rock part in the beginning rather than the end. Our group did split up since we have an older man and his son and they had more difficulty as we did. The only reason they fell behind it because he was more careful as us with how he was walking, which is understandable since he was in his 70s. I hope I could still do this when I’m that old. Even though I did dry off I was happy that I could get out of my wet swimwear at the toilets where the bus was parked. When we finally did the 4WD back to the main road again the next stop was rock art on sacred ground. I still find it so baffling that it’s still there after hundreds of years. We did the lookout walk, by now everyone was dead tired so we took it easy. There were some really pretty rock formations too, where you could see the erosion that happened literally thousands of years ago. Al these formations are the oldest in the world. Over 65000 years ago. On the walk we came across a spider in a web, and apparently at the lake there were massive spiders. Like hand sized ones. I’m so happy I was blissfully unaware. I did take a picture of the tiny spider we saw just to proof I did see one in the wild! Our last stop of the day was another hike up a big rock, so we could watch the sunset. Well not actually the sunset itself but the colours that happen in the east. It was basically climbing a very steep rock hill, there had been a rock slide ages ago and the ground solidified with tiny stones all imbedded to the rock. At the time I think most of us hated our tour guide a little bit for putting us through so much. I think everyone, including Tom was absolutely knackered though. But the views were spectacular!! I don’t think I will ever get tired of seeing a sunset. The sky was the most beautiful shade of pink. We spend about an hour on top, just chatting with each other and watching the view.
