Nevaeh had promised herself she wouldn't get as drunk as she had when she was eighteen, knowing how that night had ended, but here she was, holding to everyone she passed, fighting to stay upright as she made her way back to the bar, halting only when someone grabbed her attention. " Teddy ! " she exclaimed, her gaze falling on his. "No...don't tell me...I've got this," she murmured, moving in close and putting her finger against his lips as she locked her gaze on him, not wanting him to tell her. "Bodhi?” she guessed, before giggling. “No I know who you are. Your the ladies man!” She poked him firmly in the chest. “Do you mind keeping me company for a couple of minutes? I feel a bit out of it,”.

she  knew  cass  was  having  a  hard  time  .  at  times  she  wondered  if  they  ever  wouldn’t  be  having  a  hard  time  .  there  was  always  something  or  someone  stirring  up  angst  and  cass  was  the  type  of  person  who  got  overloaded  when  he  was  mixed  up  in  even  a  smidge  of  emotional  labour  .  saddling  up  to  him  with  her  shopping  bag  under  arm  ,  “  do  you  want  to  see  my  new  shoes  ?  “  a  classic  thing  for  her  to  do  when  she  should  have  been  revising  ,  shopping  for  things  she  definitely  didn’t  need  .  another  pair  of  shoes  on  the  top  of  her  agenda  .

She felt the dip at the side of her bed before she realized anyone had joined her in her room, fishing the headphones from her ears as she retreated from the safety of her covers only to be greeted with the sight of Cassidy. A small smile even tugging at her lips. “Cassidy, get out of my bed, did you not hear? seeing his friend return , as if it had been a million years and not one night , he runs over grabbing him square by the head and planting a kiss directly on his lips without invitation . letting him go with enough force to probably knock him over if he was unsteady , “ oh my god , i missed you so much ! where the fuck have you been and why wasn’t i invited ? “ he demands with erratic arm motions before moving on , “ we gotta get out of here , i scored . check it , “ he opens his pocket not even enough for cass to actually see before walking backwards away from the house .

“don’t lie, you probably love that you get cecilya all to yourself now, huh?” sure, she’s a little late to the news but she and cass only ever caught up when she wanted to get high and a little small talk was sometime to make the time fly until the drugs kicked in.

in the pool on the resort, he looked up seeing cass walk past. his head above water he spat out some water like he imagined a dolphin would, “cass! cass! there’s a pool!” as if it wasn’t obvious, “remind you of our old lives much? it’s definitely kinda hotter though.”

against the odds, river had been enjoying herself minimally at the party ( thanks to a few choice drugs before arriving ) and she found herself next to someone she was pretty sure she knew. “this is a weird fucking party, never been to something like this before.” she admitted to cass, being warmer than she had before but not too warm. she didn’t want him thinking they were friends or nothing.

after getting two valentine’s gifts from cass, though they’d agreed on not doing that, she thought it was only fair to take him out on the town and see this band that was performing. she’d never heard of them but going to see some live music and get drunk was just what the doctor ordered. “are these gits any good or am i only thinking that because i’m as high as a kite?”
