Today we had a rehearsal for the upcoming “Ghibli wo Utau” Concert ~ Produced by Satoshi Takebe which will be held on the 27th. To prepare myself and to get into the spirit, I brought my Totoro purse and Jiji handkerchief, I also wore my No-Face socks🧦 (I'm in full-on Ghibli-mode but you can't see it) The performance is next week, and I am so excited that my heart won't stop pounding💕 On a related side note, tonight's Friday Roadshow features "Kiki's Delivery Service"!!🎁🐾 What a fulfilling Ghibli day!! Looks like a special 50th Anniversary Party was held today (March 26th) by Space Craft Group at the Tokyo Prince Hotel. As a current client of the agency, Wakana was one of the many attending guests. Members of the SPICE Anime-Game Team (including Takeshi Kato) were also invited. (Source)

Eccolo qui il mio #fioridihaiku di questa nuvolosa domenica!☁️ Oggi non so dirvi il perché della mia scelta, ero indecisa tra almeno 10 haiku, tutti di autori diversi ma alla fine ho optato per questo di Katō Kōko del 1931! In questo periodo sento particolarmente la voglia di immergermi in mondi ricchi di animaletti, a metà strada tra fiaba e realtà, tra atmosfere autunnali e illustrazioni vintage. Avevo in serbo anche un altro haiku in cui si parlava di tane di topolini e uccellini ma insomma, lo ritroverete sicuramente nelle prossime domeniche! intorno al lavoro MEDICAL

E. Il lavoro che presenti al Magazzino 1b si chiama M.E.D.I.C.A.L. e si presenta come un’installazione video a due canali proiettata nello spazio centrale della Galleria. Ci puoi dire da che cosa deriva questo titolo e che relazione ha questo nuovo lavoro con i tuoi precedenti?

 C. L’installazione video è formata da un collage di più immagini in movimento realizzate nel mio studio, luogo in cui nascono la maggior parte dei miei lavori e luogo dove archivio da anni oggetti di uso quotidiano e dai quali si generano tutti i miei lavori. Il video M.E.D.I.C.A.L. è girato quindi in studio 'operando' su oggetti brevi azioni che tendono a mostrare l'interiorità dell'oggetto e la sua natura ambigua. Gli oggetti protagonisti di questo video sono essenzialmente oggetti medici, ciò che viene suggerito dalle immagini rimanda al corpo e quindi all’organico, cercando attraverso una simulazione di trovare una linea di confine tra ciò che è invece inorganico ma percepito qui come inverso. Questa è sicuramente una riflessione che avevo già iniziato ad affrontare nei miei lavori precedenti, tra cui Items found #05 (2011), presentato al Museo Pecci per la Biennale. Ma se nei miei lavori precedenti avevo lavorato sull'oggetto stesso come scultura, adesso, attraverso il video, mostro apertamente l'approccio sentimentale all'oggetto e la sua possibile trasformazione... in altre parole mostro il divenire dell'oggetto.

 E. Quali sono i riferimenti generativi dei tuoi ultimi lavori? Film, video, libri, design...

 C. I riferimenti sono molteplici, ma alcune letture mi hanno condotto di recente sempre più dentro a una ricerca che stavo già facendo da tempo . Ti faccio una breve lista......Un giorno questo dolore ti sarà utile di Peter Cameron, Il sex appeal dell’inorganico di Mario Perniola, Profumo di Patrick Suskind, L’anulare di Ogawa , Frammenti di un discorso amoroso di Barthes, Incontri alla fine del mondo di Werner Herzog. Altra cosa che giustamente hai notato è la relazione con il design....soprattutto in relazione ai lavori precedenti a questo video. In ogni caso da sempre il mio lavoro è in stretto contatto con il design, soprattutto il droog design, e il design di origine nordica. Il design rappresenta nei migliori casi quel confine sfuggente fra opera d'arte e artigianato... confine che per anni è stato un’ ossessione, soprattutto, come dicevo prima, nei lavori che precedono questa nuova serie di video

 E. Mi sembra di capire che il tuo lavoro nella sua complessità e fin dalle origini abbia a che fare con una ricerca tesa a ricucire un rapporto specifico ed esistenziale con gli oggetti che ogni volta indaghi attraverso vari media e che meticolosamente conservi e archivi nel tuo studio. Se non sono indiscreto, ti domanderei, per concludere, come si sia formato nel tempo questo rapporto empatico con l'oggetto di volta in volta e quali sono le dinamiche che ti spingono in questa direzione.

 C. Si potrebbe dire che ho una passione per gli oggetti, forse si potrebbe parlare anche di ossessione, . Personalmente ciò che faccio deriva sempre da un'unica matrice generativa che sta a metà tra il maschile e il femminile che cerco di verificare di volta in volta attraverso i miei lavori. I primi lavori erano sculture di oggetti, sorta di accumulazioni di oggetti a cui poi cambiavo identità. Piano piano sono nate delle installazioni, con oggetti che possedevano una memoria e una storia data dalla stratificazione del tempo. Sono arrivata poi a inserire gli oggetti all’interno di nuovi contesti. Il rapporto con l’oggetto si è intensificato perché ho capito che era in stretta connessione con me, il mio corpo e la mia memoria, quindi ho cercato di ricreare una mappatura di me stessa attraverso quelle che chiamo verifiche incerte sull'ambiguità dell'essere. In altre parole tutto nasce da una visione sensuale dell’oggetto, e la relazione identitaria che ne deriva e il video M.E.D.I.C.A.L. mostra quest'indagine nello stato nascente...

Abe finally manages to find some decent sparring partners at this small, run-down gym owned by a scary lady who can supposedly squeeze juice from oranges barehanded?? but there’s no way that’s true it’s just a rumor right. RIGHT (the classmate who showed him the gym insisted he saw it for himself. he looked mildly terrified. Abe thinks it might be better not to get on her bad side, probably?)

she employs a nearby college student to organize the records and help her keep the gym running, it’s tough owning it by herself. she’s always around when she isn’t in class and is very sweet but don’t mess with her because you bet ur ass Momoe has taught her a couple things, even though she doesn’t like to have to use them

they kick Abe’s ass the first time he enters the building. he’s gotten close a couple times, but still hasn’t managed to beat them (as great a strategist as he is, they’re faster)
