My issue with Roshi’s inclusion in the ToP is that they easily could have given his exact same role to Yamcha. Simply have Yamcha outlast Krillin and Tien through some degree of luck - from there, have Yamcha fulfil the role of “experience > power” and tell the story that he’s learned from his past mistakes by A. Not getting overconfident (A la, getting blown up by the Saibamen despite actually winning the fight) and otherwise B. playing a helpful auxiliary role to the stronger players like Gohan, Majin Buu, Eighteen, Vegeta, etc, etc, rather than getting in over his head, as he did against Gero.

Not only do you I think that’s far more plausible and organic than what we saw with Roshi in Super, but it’s a substantially more emotionally resonant story than what we actually ended up with - Roshi and Android 17s respective returns just felt so forced from a character and theme perspective, in my opinion. What do you think?

honestly you've got GRAND point my brochacho and it reminds me of how jess would always say how yamcha deserved an underdog-type of arc to go through and i think that's totally right.

i don't have so much beef with A17- i mean he DID feel out of nowhere, but at least i could trick myself into thinking he was training still or whatever unlike roshi who time and time again said he was retired (not to mention fucking. bringing back frieza i'm still going to eat drywall for that)

but yeah yamcha's inclusion definitely had an actual place there and one that would've felt a lot more natural and more deserving

Oh damn, I need to get more involved in the fandom ahaha, I didn't even know 😅 the rabbit man was a bad guy that goku met really early on in the manga (idk if they ever put him in the anime) but goku basically beats him and his minions, ties them up, and puts them on the moon lol

It's probably non-controversial to say that I prefer my Yamcha scarred and with long hair. And that ponytail? That ponytail right there is why you're not seeing Yamcha being exploded by a Saibaman, because he looks the same in both arcs, but I stan boys with ponytails I can grab onto. He looks so good like this that I can overlook the orange pajamas + blue sweatbands

Trunks Saga

Hey everyone it's now the 90s. My dude is sporting a baggy scoop neck long sleeved top tucked into high-waisted, pleated pants, and his short fuckboy hair that I think only Bulma seems to like, because whenever they're on the outs he grows it back out again. I generally don't care for short hair Yamcha, but the scars help differentiate him from your standard twink, and the overall outfit looks like something you'd see Sailor Uranus pull off far better. It's dope

Whether or not you like this look tho, Tien definitely approves

And now it's the late 90s. I don't know why he's still wearing his Buu Saga banana suit 15 years later, but it and his messy cropped hair would've made the cut if not for this tight ponytail. It looks so silky smooth, like he finally realized he can have long hair AND condition it

So I don't really care for baseball, but my city has the best stadium and one of the worst teams, so tickets are next to nothing. I also crushed on some of the varsity baseball players in high school, so I have a soft spot for this stupid outfit.

Dragon Ball Super sucks ok, but when you're right you're right, and Yamcha in a white tang suit and grey pants was clearly a correct decision

I'm sorry, but it really really really REALLY wasn't about your looks. You guys tried it for 10+ years and your personalities just don't mesh. Sometimes people aren't right for one another and that's OK.

The Rarest Yamcha

Blink and you'll miss Yamcha at his absolute finest. After he's done training for the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, he changes into this black and white number, and meets up with Bulma and Puar in West City. Bulma doesn't recognize him at first and immediately gets his hair chopped off, although she seemed really enamored by this look, so idk why she bothered. He was perfect here

Aight if I have to pick one it's probably Z just cause that's the one I remember rewatching the most (mostly cause thats what tv liked to replay the most back then), but OGDB is very close to my heart and GT is great in both good and bad ways. Super exists i guess idunno

Do you have a favorite episode from the anime/chapter from the manga?

Aside from the Driving episode because that episode is *chefs kiss* my favorite is that like one or two episodes that take place between Goku and Gohan getting out the HTC and the Cell Games where Goku is just spending time with his friends and family. Those moments are so damn sweet and wholesome and make me cry because Goku is such a good man and a good father for choosing to spend what he'd figure to be his last moments on earth with his loved ones.

Also that bit with Krillin full force chucking a rock at Goku makes me wheeze.

Can I say every bit of fighting from DBS Broly cause that movie means a lot to me.

The completely out of nowhere character assassination of Yamcha at the beginning of Z. I'm supposed to believe this man who couldn't be in the same room with a woman without straight up dying turned into a homewrecking womanizer after having a solid relationship with ONE woman?????

Yes almost all of them (I haven’t seen Super Hero yet I’m waiting till after finals) and DBS Broly hands down zero hesitation no questions

GT is good it's just really dumb and slow. I know that doesn't make any sense but GT isn't god awful just because it's stupid. There's a ton of good bits in GT and SSJ4 is absolutely incredible.

I have mixed emotions about Super. A good amount of it is not bad! There's parts I can enjoy. But the character assassination of Goku is just bruh why c'mon it's so painful that is not my boy
