Against all Odds: Science and Religion as Oil and Water

Science and Religion have always been the things that we cannot put together, as they are both not aligned to be put in one place. As scientists oppose the church, the relationship between science and religion has ranged from conflict and hostility to harmony and collaboration, with various thinkers arguing that the two concepts are inherently at odds and must be treated separately.

As a great believer of the Pentecostal Church, there are other scientific histories that are seen by people far from the Church's perspective. Just like the never-ending debate of the theory of the late Charles Darwin about "The Evolution" his theories was all against the teachings of the Bible. Because as the bible says that we were created by God according to His likeness and own image, contradictory to what Darwin has made in his theory. People may say that it is cliche, but it was not at all negative to pair these two as they are different in many ways. Science is concerned with the processes that explain the natural world, such as how planets move, the composition of matter and the atmosphere, and the origin and adaptations of organisms. Religion is concerned with the meaning and purpose of the world and human life, with the proper relationship of people to the Creator and to one another, and with the moral values that inspire and govern people's lives.

These two are like oil and water, they can be put together but they cannot and will never mix. They can find common ground, yet they will never mix to form a unified medium. Both science and religion are fundamentally diametrically opposed. They vehemently disagree on how we understand about the world. Science is built on observation and rationalization based on observation. Religion assumes that individuals can access a deeper level of information that neither observation nor reason can provide.

tissue paper in oil by auntneecey Via Flickr: Experimenting with floating colored tissue paper in my oil and water concoction. I love how the crinkled paper creates depth and it looks like fabric to me. In the right hands, I can imagine some elaborate compositions. cucumbers in oil by auntneecey Via Flickr: Playing around with some leftover cucumber slices this morning. The slices floated under the surface of the oil and didn't want to cooperate. I love using food for photography in different ways. This might be a fun take on the oil and water images this week. I just need to make sure the items don't fall apart or it will look messy and gross.
