Part Four of the Okinawa web series.
“The Secret Recipe for Long Life”
Okinawa is well-known for having longevity (it’s been covered by the likes of Oprah Winfrey) and many people always looked to Okinawa’s example of nutritious ingredients in pursuit of a longer-lasting life.
Okinawa has been regarded in the past as “The Land of The Immortals” due to the known emphasis on it’s long-living people.
Enjoy!

The eighth part of the Okinawa series - This one shows the soul of Okinawa culture: Okinawan Music.
I actually still have my shamisen (also referred to as a Sanshin) that was originally played by my Obāsan and I inherited a little over 10 years ago (since I’m continuing the music in the family). I still remember sitting with my mother and my sister years ago watching a group rehearse in an old abandoned building. Okinawan Folk music is very old, and I still remember the profound moment I had there, as it was a very important moment in my life (since I had not been back to Okinawa in a very, very long time) and I will continue to bring the spirit of Okinawa with me in all that I accomplish in music as I swore I would in that moment.
Enjoy! =)
