Adding on to my DRDT Heathers AU????

Admittedly I've had this AU in my drafts for a really long time and finally decided to post it one day to clean out my drafts. But seeing someone make art for it has made me plunge into obsession once again.

OKKK SO!!! Since @ccrisntok made art of the Heathers AU recently (I seriously can't thank them enough, they're super talented so please check their page out!!) and added some things which I thought made so much sense, I've decided to expand on the Heathers AU a little bit as well with things I realized after I clicked post!! Consider this like a part 2 LOL -Everything that @/ccrisntok said in their post is canon to this AU now LOL (and they made some really good points too), including but not limited to Eden liking Arei, Xander outing Eden by accident, Arturo's red bowtie being the red scrunchie, Ace and Levi lying about Xander beating them up, and Levi being more of a "bodyguard" -Xander is someone who wants to hold on to the past as said in his bonus episode, so this fits well with Veronica, who wishes things would go back to they way they were when everyone was young. -During Fight for Me, I can kinda imagine Teruko and Ace absolutely going for each other's throats while Levi's kinda just there to make sure Ace doesn't die. This one's more of a joke and is optional to the AU LOL

-Teruko genuinely cared for Xander. So if in this AU the events in the killing game like Xander betraying Teruko never happened, and all the stuff with Chariton never happened, I think Teruko would still like Xander more than everyone else.

-Teruko was already distrusting of others even before the killing game. In Prologue EP 4, we see her asking Xander something like "What reason do we have to trust one another?" Considering that Westerburg High isn't exactly welcoming or kind, seeing all the bullying around her might drive her to act more like her Chapter 2 self. Instead of thinking "Even my best friend in the killing game betrayed me. I can't get close to anyone because of my luck and people will always end up betraying me", her thought process might end up like "Look at all this bullying and betrayal in this stupid school. No one here has been trustworthy or been kind towards me except Xander." -Adding on to that, Xander says to Teruko that he chooses to trust everyone there. Just like how Veronica sees the good in everyone. -Teruko's luck. Her luck would probably be a factor in this AU. Like @/ccrisntok said, it would explain why her life was so messed up and she was constantly moving school to school before meeting Xander. At the end, by blowing herself up, she could say to Xander something like: "After I make sure I die, I hope all this chaos in the school will finally stop." Or something like that. She might believe her luck influenced all the deaths and chaos, when in reality, her mindset, which she had BECAUSE of her luck and the people around her, was the true reason.

-I think the reason Teruko's a loner like JD would be 1: The same reason as JD, who didn't want to get attached to anyone, and 2: because she's canonically in a lot of debt and had to constantly move. -Even though Teruko can't die for some reason, I think being directly blown up by a bomb would probably end her. She might also say something like: "I committed all these murders, and I'm facing the consequences.", since while she says that murders should have consequences in Chapter 2, she's also pulled a knife on Charles and held said knife to J's throat. In this AU, Arturo, Ace, and Levi would've hurt the only person that's shown her kindness. She'd probably go for their heads. -Arei's development (credit to artist tagged above)!! Since she has it pretty rough in this AU, she'd think of Arturo and David as her first friends, even if they're not close like her and Eden here. She might still consider them friends who've protected her from being bullied just because they're popular. So like the development she got in the killing game, she would start to soften up after making friends, while she'd still be a bully because her friends aren't kind either. That changes after meeting Eden, which makes Arei realize that to be truly happy with her friends, she needs to act kind and be with good people. Since her sisters were still around, she didn't feel like she was in control yet, so she wasn't like how she was in canon DRDT.

-Xander's prone to getting into fights. Not physical fights, but his hot-blooded and emotional nature makes him get into a lot of arguments. He also stands up for people, which makes sense for that pool scene where Veronica says she doesn't want to be with the Heathers anymore. ("What's your damage, Arturo?" ykyk) -What drives Teruko to completely blow up the school would be Xander's fake death. She was already gonna do it, but seeing Xander "dead" would destroy her. He was the only one she could trust, after all. I think JD knew Veronica was faking her suicide, but in this AU either Xander was so convincing she didn't realize he faked his death or Teruko didn't notice in a moment of panic. She'd say something like "You were all I could trust..." or "Of course my luck made this happen."

-Since Xander has kind of a "saving the day" attitude, it'd match Veronica deciding to kill both herself and JD during Dead Girl Walking (Reprise) to save the rest of the school.

First post okkk, I genuinely didn’t know what to make the title, and I hate this so much cause I started writing in Y/n’s POV instead of Narrators POV and I can’t write for Y/n’s POV like ever it’s so bad. I’m not happy with this at all I’m probably gonna re-write this like one day. Also I didn’t really know how to write the second part (after the line) so that part was rushed and not as well-written as the first part was. Also reader is gn, if I used she/her or he/him anywhere where I should have used they/them pls lmk,

Warnings(?): Kissing(really light), cringe(extremely), sensitive reader(reader cries like 5 times I think) I don’t think there’s anything else and none of these are really ‘warnings’ so yea!

             This week was graduation week. All my seniors were overjoyed at the fact they were finally graduating. Several graduation parties were being held right before the last day of school since final exams had just ended. I was of course happy too, I could finally be a senior myself and I was soon going to be a year closer to graduating. But a part of me just really wasn’t happy as well. The thought of all my friends leaving me behind didn’t sit right with me. I was the youngest in my friend group. Nemona, Penny, and Arven. They were all a year above me. The reason we became friends was well, I don’t really actually even remember. That’s not the point here though. The point is that all my close friends would be leaving me, I could deal with it during class since there were a few people in my class who I had taken a liking too and was able to be their partners during projects. But outside of class I relied on them. It made me anxious to even think about being all alone again. I didn’t know what to do. I stared at the clock it was almost time for class. Had I really been awake from 11pm all the way till 6am? I usually fell asleep easily thinking about all sorts of things. It was easy for me to fall asleep; in fact I enjoyed it, being able to close your eyes and not have to worry about anything.

             I dragged my feet into class, the day was spent mainly fooling around, playing bored games, etc. Nothing really interesting. I dozed of majority of the time, or just listened to my classmates talking about what they were going to do during summer break and how we all should meet up. If you ask me the idea wasn’t bad, but I’d rather sleep in.

              I opened my eyes as I heard the bell ring for break. I hurriedly got up from my seat and rushed over to the area me and my friends usually sat at. I waited for a bit. And waited some more. . . .It didn’t seem like they were coming, they were probably on that field trip they were talking about. Apparently they were going today morning I think and are coming back on the last day of school. Must be nice. I got up from the place I was sitting at and walked around while eating my lunch. I settled for sitting in a corner and just watch the younger students run around and play tag until the bell rang.

             The rest of the day was pretty boring just going around from class to class and listening to student’s gossip. Eventually though I had arts. The teacher had requested us to draw something that came from our hearts. Whatever that meant. I stared at the blank sheet of paper I had gotten and thought of what I could even draw. Before I even knew it I started drawing, a boy I think. I couldn’t really tell yet. I was simply just drawing what I felt like I should. All of a sudden I stared back down at the paper and saw a boy, or maybe it was a girl? The hair seemed familiar almost too familiar. My cheeks felt hot as I realized who I started drawing, I crumpled up the drawing and threw it away. Screw my brain. I only had 10 more minutes to draw something. I eventually grabbed another paper and quickly sketched out an Umbreon and Espeon and handed it.

             I walked out of class and walked to my dorm, oh my Arecus was I lonely. I should probably try and make some friends in my grade next year. I fiddled with the keys to my dorm and walked inside closing the door behind me. I took off my shoes and crawled onto my bed. I stared at the wall and my stomach was making funny knots. It didn’t hurt but it sure didn’t feel good either. I thought I was having a stomach ache or something of that sort but it didn’t feel the same. This either happened from the thought of being lonely or whatever I was doing in art class. I turned around I threw my head into my pillow before I felt my phone vibrating. I groaned as I opened it. It was from the gc with me and my friends. They had apparently been messaging in there for like what 10 minutes now? I don’t know how I just realized. I opened the gc and scanned over the messages.

               Weren’t they all in the same place? Why were they communicating in a group chat.. I stared at the messages. I didn’t really know what to say and you were too tired to even reply back. But it was obvious I had read it by now so I quickly typed a quick good night to the group chat and set my phone aside, not bothering to see what they had said afterwards.

             I changed out of my uniform and into something else and jumped onto my bed as I closed my eyes. But same thing as last night, I couldn’t sleep. I found myself wanting to cry at the thought of being lonely again. I didn’t want to be alone, or for them to go, I really loved them. I loved how energetic Nemona could be, I admired her for that. I also really loved Penny and how sweet she could be underneath all that ice. I especially loved Arven, I couldn’t really pinpoint why but I knew I did. Just thinking of him made my heart flutter. At some point I started crying into my pillow, it was just too much for me to handle at the time.

             The whole week had passed with the same schedule. Today they were finally graduating and you’d be a senior. The morning half of your classes was some-what fun, I wish I could enjoy it as much as my classmates had been. I hated the thought of being alone, but I had to accept it. The bell rang and I got up, your vision was blurry, though there weren’t any tears in it and my chest started hurting. Everything felt un-real. Maybe I was being dramatic. I got up from my seat as the bell rang. I was walking to the table me and my friends usually sat at. My walking came to a halt and I turned around. I can’t really explain what came over me but I really didn’t wanna see them right now. I was sort of starting to regret walking away but I couldn’t help it, I just needed some space at the moment.

             The rest of the day passed by fairly quickly, I was just lying down on my bed while watching tv till all of a sudden my phone started vibrating. I hurriedly reached for it and checked it. It was a message from Arven.

“Hey buddy where you at?”

“At my dorm, why?”

“Aren’t you gonna come orr”

“Oh Yea ok I’ll be down there give me a minute”

             You changed into one of your outfits and put on your shoes and ran out of your dorm closing the door behind you. You went outside and started searching for your friends. You found them eventually standing near a fountain, talking.

“Hey”

“Hi”

“Hey Y/n!”

“Hey buddy”

             We all stared at each other awkwardly in silence till Nemona spoke up.

“I’m just gonna get some food be right back”

“I’ll go with you wait” Nemona ran off with Penny trailing behind.

“So…where were you all day?”

“I was just walking around, kinda forgot you all came back from your trip today sorry”

“Oh, I wanted to give you something”

“Hm?”

             Arven grabbed something from his backpack and handed it to me. It was a…a pokeball? A cherish one to be exact. I grabbed the pokeball and examined it carefully.

“Go ahead, open it”

“Oh, there’s something inside?”

“Y/n…it’s a pokeball…why would I give you an empty one…”

“Oh.”

             I threw the pokeball out excited to see what pokemon was inside. It was a… an applin? I looked back at him, his face was a light read color and I looked back at the applin. I examined a bit more till it finally hit me. My face was burning and I was sure he could feel the heat radiating off of me by now.

“You love me?” Why am I so stupid? Of course that’s why he gave me an applin, there’s no other explanation! I’m from Galar, and he just came back from a trip to Galar!

“Yea, I totally get if you don’t feel the same wa-“

             I cut him off by placing a kiss on his cheek. “I love you too! I never would have thought you liked me back..I guess that’s why I ignored you guys when you all came back, I couldn’t stand seeing you all at the time…I especially couldn’t see you, my chest felt tight whenever I even thought of you leaving so I just avoided you all, I’m so-“I was cut off by him placing a kiss on my face and pulling away.

“You talk too much sometimes, you know? I already knew that you idiot! And, I’ll never leave you, so come on let’s go find those two.” He said grabbing my hand to go search for Penny and Nemona together.

Cause and Effect

story rating: mature chapter rating: teen & up word count: ~1.4k warnings: references to sex, violence, eating disorders & character death a/n: okkk i said i was working on a little something abt tanner, and here it is! this one’s short, just kind of a past tense intro, the rest are/will be a little longer and more kind of as it happened. not exactly twc, parts of unit bravo won’t be mentioned until part 3 or make an appearance until part 4.

Pt. 1: In The Beginning That was his threshold. That's what broke him, and whether or not the Agency had gotten hold of him, there was no way he was ever going to be the same again.

Tanner can still remember the first human he met who knew what he was and didn’t make him feel like a freak. Some liaison something or other, right here in Wayhaven.

He would’ve been about eleven, and this guy spent the entire day hanging out with him and Skylar while their Dad tried to save face in front of the Agency he loved so much after they found out he’d fathered two little bastard mongrels.

He’d had a kid with him, must have only been seven or eight, and Tanner can remember freezing up and the look of horror on Skylar’s face when this kid asked if they knew any magic.

It had been drummed into them for as long as they could remember to steer clear of such questions. Humans wouldn’t understand, humans would be scared, humans (and even full supernaturals) would be mean.

And this guy, after diverting the conversation and sending the kid to play, had given Tanner probably the most friendly pat on the shoulder he’d ever received, and told him that it wasn’t like that everywhere. That he knew what they were and he didn’t look at them any differently than he looked at his own human child. That one day they both would find other people who didn’t care, too. One day neither of them would have to constantly hide anymore.

Tanner wasn’t sure he believed him. He was even a little annoyed with the guy for inserting himself into their business, for assuming that they weren’t okay just having each other.

Then he heard that the guy died.

He can’t remember exactly why they went to the funeral, but he does remember seeing that same kid huddled in the corner of the church, all alone. He remembers asking where his mother was, and the kid replying that she was at work.

And he remembers his blood boiling as he coaxed the kid out of the corner and led him by the hand to the playground next to the church.

What kind of place was this Agency? That it would make his own father apologise for his and Skylar’s existence? That it would label them as defects and their Dad would have to meet with them several times just for them to keep living with him? That it would keep this kid’s mother from attending her husband’s funeral and being there for her son?

That was the first time that he realised he hated the Agency and everything it stood for.

He was fifteen the first time he got into trouble. Even now, fifteen years later, he can remember the exact moment he snapped. Like something inside of him literally cracked in half and just like that, all of his patience was gone. His willingness to overlook the awful things that people said about him and his sister - especially his sister - was gone, and he’d launched himself at those little assholes like it was a matter of life or death.

He got his ass handed to him. He was starting to develop a bit of muscle by then, starting to get away from the scrawny kid he’d been up until then, but he had no idea how to fight, no idea how to hit or defend himself, and three against one wasn’t exactly an even match.

Not then, anyway. Now it would be a different story, and would most certainly have a vastly different outcome. Sometimes the idea of running into those same three people now is something of a fantasy for him.

Still, he’d thrown the first punch so he was the one left sitting on the uncomfortable bench outside of the principal's office, eye swollen shut, lip not quite healed yet and still bleeding  and with bruises (granted, most already a faded yellow) all over his stomach and ribs.

It certainly didn't help his defense that there was three of them and one of him when most of his injuries were mostly healed by the time the principal saw him.

He can remember yelling at the principal. Yelling. The first time he’d ever dared to raise his voice to an adult and once he started, he just couldn’t stop. He yelled at the school counsellor when he came into the room to try to calm him down, he yelled at his father when he came to pick him up. As though the dam had busted and every single little thing that he’d bottled up for so long was rushing out uncontrollably, he let everybody he’d ever had a problem with know about it.

He got a lot better at fighting, at least.

When he was eighteen, he lost his virginity. To Val Demore, of all the people he’d gone to school with, Val fucking Demore. The hottest girl in school ever since the very first day. The bitchiest one as well, but that hardly mattered when she was putting out, when she’d broken something else inside of him and shown him that despite what he’d been told, there didn’t need to be meaning behind sex.

He didn’t like her. She didn’t like him. But it didn’t stop them from spending three years together. She was seeing other people and by the last year, he was doing the very same thing. He was his full 6’3 height by then, his muscles had grown into it and he was actually managing a decent crop of facial hair. On top of that, by then most people in his home town were at the very least wary of him, and he figured from the way she encouraged him to lash out, subtly egged him on when he was starting to get aggressive with someone, she was into the bad boy image he'd accidentally given himself. It didn’t take him long to figure out that he was arm candy and nothing more.

It wasn’t cheating, not really. They both knew that the other was sleeping around, and Val didn’t care so long as he was there when it mattered. Around her more conservative friends, around her family. As long as he played the loyal boyfriend in public to make her look good and fucked her when she wanted she didn’t care what he did when she wasn’t around.

Maybe, if he was to tell someone some of these stories, they might feel sorry for him. They might sympathise and tell him that they understand why he's so closed off, why he avoids talking about anything from before the Agency took him in, why he brushes any too personal questions aside with humour.

They'd be wrong. None of that mattered, and truth be told he barely remembers much of it as anything more than a story, as though hearing about a stranger's life.

The one thing, the one person that kept his head above water through all of it was Skylar. They were twins, literally together from the very beginning. They saw each other through a childhood without a mother, with a father focused far more on making sure no one knew that they existed than actually being there for them.

Tanner gets it now, to a point. They weren't supposed to exist. Nephilims were supposed to have been cut to extinction decades ago, most angels knowing better than to cross breed with humans once the Agency had declared it illegal.

They were too unpredictable, with the ability to blend so seamlessly into the human population, but with all the usual supernatural traits lurking just under the surface. The speed, the strength, the fast healing ability; all of it too uncontrollable when put in the hands of someone with basic human needs, desires and emotions.

Unpredictable and uncontrollable are two things the Agency didn't want loose in the world. Ticking time bombs, ready to detonate at any moment and reveal the world of supernaturals to the humans alongside them.

For as long as he could remember, for his entire life, it was him and Skylar against the world. Through the bullying, the fights, the disaster of a first (and last) girlfriend, Skylar was there through all of it. Through the same bullying, the struggles with body image bordering on an eating disorder, through a string of boyfriends that she thought she might be able to make something real with, Tanner was there through all of it.

And then Skylar was gone. He never even got to say goodbye.

That was his threshold. That's what broke him, and whether or not the Agency had gotten hold of him, there was no way he was ever going to be the same again.

All of us are looking for you and Jamie but we notice that we can’t find you until we notice Jamie’s shirt on the floor. So we all just run away ‘here we go again guys’ ‘hey Peyton I dare you to walk in’ absolutely not does it look like I wanna see that’ ‘guys let’s just give them so privacy’.

- aw a slumber party would just be so fun. ‘I’m sorry what’s the point of hydrating your face lexi?’ ‘ what does that even mean. Wait I’m sorry do you not use moisturizer Ryan?’ all of us just watching movies and bonding. Also pillow fightttttt! It would become very intense.

- ok we must have a girls day in Greece. and yes we have moneyyyyyyy. ‘Wait has anybody seen Brigid?’ ‘Hmm no I haven’t’ and they all just start looking for us and we come back and are like seriously you guys?.

Next day:

- Brigid I’m with you here I’m like constantly hungry lol. So we’d just eat a mountain of food. Ooo yess we need some energy after our eventful nights😏.

- ok cliff diving is so fun. hehe Jamie looking terrified but you just grab him and jump. the hype up would involve a lot of slapping imao. haha ok if you’re not marco the entire time. I think I’ll go w dyl bc I wanna bond with him lol. The boys need your help bc swimming is hard. And then Jamie can piggy back you out of the water. And cuddle with you on the beach.

- awww I love this, holding hands while scuba diving. hehe yes I wow you all with my not forgotten guitar skills. ‘Please dyl can I try’ ‘no I’m scared you’re gonna drop my guitar in the water’ ‘I promise I won’t’. Lol this was random. actually a song i know how to play on guitar is Our last summer from mamma mia so we can all sing that :). I love cuddling our bbs on the boat.

- awww I love Jamie finding your wallpaper and him asking that in the most soft voice ever 🥺. And ofc some kisses will be exchanged. vv cute moment all together.

- we’d have the most chaotic moments at night while we are tipsy lol. Like some would try to race up the stairs and fall. Some dare each other to jump over stuff.

-so after dinner we just encounter a live band and see some people dancing and it’s pretty out with lights everywhere. ‘Hey bb wanna dance with me?’ And ofc you agree so you two take off to dance. Aww you tucking you me face into his chest🥺 and he just tightens his grip on your waist. Kesh and Kirby are #couplegoals they are the best dancers out there. hehe ofc Quinner is slow, but then he realizes that he wants to dance like that as well so he asks me to dance and we have a cute dance as well.

Next dayyy:

Hehe yes me and Ryan falling I feel like would be vv funny. It’s just all very sudden. imao you’re a hockey player it’s in your job description.

Next day: I honestly think that for our final days of Greece we should just all be on the beach lol bc that is mostly what you can do there. Like all of us just bonding, playing volleyball, riding on jet skis, tanning, getting tipsy lol.

So now it’s travel day so we all head to the airport, chaotic as usual. And we are ready to board our flight to the beautiful ITALY 🇮🇹.

yesss ik this was from a couple days ago when lexi and i both really needed cuddles but i’m always down for jamie cuddles, so quinner and jamie better come cuddle us real quick (also kirby better come for kesh)

lmao noooo jamie and i are not that loud. hehe yep you guys just start a game of tag and just start sprinting around the hotel. hehe you come to my and jamie’s room looking to tag one of us and then you see jamie’s shirt on the floor and it’s just ‘hey peyton i dare you to go in and tag one of them’ ‘absolutely fucking not i don’t want to say that’ and then kesh is like ‘all right, let’s just give them privacy’ lmaooo

yessss a slumber party!! ‘what’s hydrating your face? like what does that even mean?’ ‘ummm do you not use moisturizer ryan? how is your face not completely dry?’ hehe yes we would watch a bunch of movies and stuff, but then we would have an epic pillow fight and i would be beating everyone up lmao

haha we eat like the entire breakfast buffet at the hotel bc there are so many of us and everyone else at the restaurant is just like where’d the food go? hehe we need it for sustenance tho to make up for all the calories we burned😏

hehe yeah cliff diving is so fun, i have to pull jamie in with me before he backs out bc he’s scared lol. lmaoooo you and ryan and quinner have the best hype up before you jump. and then once everyone’s in we’re playing marco polo and i’m just destroying bc im good at swimming lol. haha then we have to send you and dyl to find the way back up while i help the boys swim lol. awww yes i love jamie piggybacking me out of the water and then cuddling with me on the beach🥰

next dayyyyyyy:
