Russell Westbrook is an NBA superstar and a former MVP of the 2016-17 season. After playing with Oklahoma City Thunder for 11 seasons, Russell Westbrook finally asked for a transfer and was traded to Houston Rockets in return for Chris Paul. Houston Rockets already have a star in James Harden who is also a former NBA MVP of the 2017-18 season. James Harden and Russell Westbrook both were drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder about a decade back, when they played alongside Kevin Durant. Oklahoma City Thunder drafted 3 players(Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden) who went on to win MVP each. While Russell Westbrook and Durant stayed for quite sometime in Oklahoma, James Harden got traded to the Houston Rockets after spending only 3 seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and even after winning the 6th man of the year award. Their team even made it to the NBA finals in 2012 but lost to the Miami Heat. James Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets despite having a decent game and constant improvement. The Oklahoma City Thunder have since then never managed to reach the NBA finals and ended up loosing Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors in 2016-17 preseason. And recently even Russell Westbrook has decided to leave the Thunder squad to play alongside his long time friend and former teammate James Harden. This picture is a screenshot obtained from the video whose link is given below: Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InDv-x65rhc *Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. In an interview, Russell Westbrook talked about playing for Houston Rockets and said "Me and James been friends for many years, since I was 10 actually. We played with each other for many years in Oklahoma City and so to be able to win you got to be able to sacrifice some parts of your game and we both understand that we have one common goal and that is to win a championship so we both understand what to do. I am not worried about it but I know James is not worried about it. I can play of the ball, I don't have to touch the ball to impact the game and that is the best way for me to get a comeback and impact this team as I can do other things on the floor to be able to make sure that we have a better chance to win it" . James Harden This picture is a screenshot obtained from the video whose link is given below: Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL3F_LJ5Eh0 Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. James Harden has been the leading scorer having 36 points, 7.5 assists and 6.6 rebounds per game in the previous season which is extremely high for an average. Meanwhile, Russell has had a great stat line too with around 23 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds averaging a triple double for the 3rd time consecutively being the only player in NBA history to do so. Playing with each other might possibly bring them a title in Houston. Lets wait to find out.

Thabo Sefolosha (born May 2, 1984) the first Swiss-born NBA player, was born in Vevey, Switzerland to Patrick Sefolosha, a South African musician, and Christine Sefolosha, a Swiss painter. He is a member of the Swiss National basketball team and plays for the Atlanta Hawks.
He started playing basketball at age eleven and soon became one of the best players in Switzerland. After playing two years in the First League there, he took his talent to France, where he played for Elan Chalon, one of the top basketball teams in Europe. His career culminated in his third season, as he was picked to play in the all-star game and was regarded as one of the best players in Europe. He played one season in Italy before entering the NBA in 2006.
The Chicago Bulls drafted him in the thirteenth pick in the 2006 NBA draft. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He became one of the NBA’s best defenders, and in 2012, the team won the Western Conference finals.
He was acquired by the Atlanta Hawks in a sign-and-trade deal. His season was cut short due to a broken ankle suffered during an incident with the New York Police on April 8, 2015. He and a teammate were arrested outside a nightclub in New York City for allegedly interfering with police after Milwaukee Bucks’ forward and fellow NBA player Chris Copeland was stabbed in the abdomen.
He refused a no-plea bargain and instead chose to let the case proceed to trial. Charged with three misdemeanor charges, obstructing government administration, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, he was found not guilty by a Manhattan jury. He announced that he would file a lawsuit against the city of New York as well as the eight officers involved in his arrest for up to $50 million in damages. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Steven Adams
Tumblr media
Here is the speaker I have for the kinetic type animation and the information that I was able to find on him.
Steven Funaki Adams is a New Zealand professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA) who was born in 20 July 1993. After playing one season with his hometown team, the Wellington Saints, in 2011, Adams moved to the United States in 2012 to play college basketball for Pittsburgh.
Adams was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. He was the Thunder's primary starting center for six consecutive seasons. In November 2020, after seven years in Oklahoma City, Adams was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. In August 2021, he was dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Steven Adams was born in Rotorua, New Zealand, to a Tongan mother and an English father. “When I lost my dad, that was a big hit for me. I didn't have that parental guidance, and I kind of took advantage of it because I was a stupid idiot. I decided not to go to school a couple of times, go when I felt like it. I always lied to my brothers and sisters. They'd ask: 'Are you going to school?' I'd say 'yeah'. They eventually found out.”
After the death of his father, his brother Warren rescued him from the streets of Rotorua and took him to Wellington. Warren took responsibility for Adams and introduced him to Wellington basketball legend Kenny McFadden. McFadden accepted Adams into his basketball academy, and Warren enrolled him in Scots College. The only rule McFadden had for Adams was that he had to attend school every day if he wanted to play basketball. While there was pressure for Adams to turn professional straight out of high school because it was believed he would never be able to qualify for the NCAA, Adams did well at Scots College and passed through the NCAA Clearinghouse after graduating from Scots in December 2011.
Adams enjoys playing video games; he says Dota 2 and Smite are his favourites. He also often posted his Fortnite and online Chess wins on Instagram between 2018 and 2020.
Adams is generally well respected around the league for his sense of humour, down to earth personality and humility. On 14 December 2018, playing against the Denver Nuggets he received praise for catching his opponent Mason Plumlee after Plumlee jumped to contest a layup and fell over Adams. Despite having an uncontested shot, Adams chose to drop the ball and catch Plumlee, preventing a serious injury. [60] On 12 February 2022, Plumlee displayed a lack of gratitude for this, shoving Adams to the floor and throwing the basketball at him upon receiving a foul call he deemed to be unreasonable. Despite this, Adams did not react, and Plumlee received a technical foul for the altercation.
Here is a compilation of Adams’ good sportsmanship:

W7 - Introduction to Project
As Anzac Day fell on our class date, we had to start this project off in a somewhat unconventional way - at a distance. For this half of the semester we will be creating a kinetic type animation based off a speech that has been randomly assigned to us. After navigating through the files on canvas, and downloading my assigned speech - I realised that the assigned speaker for my project was Steven Adams, who is a known and accredited basketball player within New Zealand. In all honesty, I was completely unfamiliar with Adams prior to finding out I was assigned to him for the speech and it was really interesting to learn more about him as an individual and as an athlete.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the articles I looked at for some information about the figure was the Newshub article which discussed how a recent injury has placed Adams in a very difficult position as of late. I was shocked to find out that Steven Adams has been New Zealand's sole representative in the NBA for 29 years, and that Adams has actually had a very public falling out with Basketball New Zealand over financial aid, meaning that Adams has never actually represented his country. Adams has shown up in the NBA, participating in teams including Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans Pelicans, and now Memphis Grizzlies. Unfortunately his injury has meant that Adams has been out of action since January of this year. However, before this injury Adams achieved some very impressive stats - averaging 8.6 points and a career-high 11.5 rebounds over his 42 games played. Adams also singed a two year $25.2 million USD contract extension before this season: proving how integral a player he is to the team.
Further information: Steven Adams was born in Rotorua and moved to America in 2012 to play college basketball for the University of Pittsburgh after completing one season in his home country for the Wellington Saints. Adams also stands at 6'11' tall and has played over 706 games throughout his entire career, with an average points per game of 9.2 throughout his career as well.

I have left the Pelicans colours out of this line up as he was only there for a cup of coffee. Despite only playing for Wellington for a year I think it is an important tie back to his roots in NZ. There is quite a clear colour palette emerging. Dark Blue, Sky blue, white and yellow/orange, I think I would prefer a more orange colour as this is the colour of a basketball.
