so you’re finally going to your first punk show. it can be a little intimating for sure! here is what i tell my newbie friends when i take them to their first show:

1. take it at your own pace. start the show at the back of the crowd, if you’re vibing and feel the need to jump around get closer to the mosh

2. the mosh is a lot less scary than it looks. it really is a bunch of people just wanting to move around. There are times where it can get violent. if you feel overwhelmed at all just push (don’t feel bad, you might even need to shove a little, nobody will care) your way through the crowd that is encircling the mosh.

3. if you see someone on the ground in a mosh, PICK THEM UP!!!! not only to keep them safe but for your own safety as well, moshing can get a little disorienting (especially if you are drinking or smoking) so you might not even see them. along with this if you see someone’s personal item, try your best to pick it up and hold it in the air. Essentially, if something or someone could get damaged, help them out.

4. a lot of the people there look really intimidating and cool. yes they are cool as fuck, but they are some of the nicest people on this earth right now. Talk to a stranger. some of the kindest people i’ve met and become friends with i met at shows.

5. don’t be afraid to be yourself. don’t feel like you match the “punk aesthetic” you see on tumblr tiktok and pinterest? who give a fuck!! the most punk think you can do is be yourself. if you fake who you are people will notice.

Everything about Terry Funk just makes me wonder why more old figureheads from bygone eras aren't as down to earth and understanding as much as him.

Like everything about him, he never shat on the current product, he never called for all this flashy shit to be stopped, he started doing a moonsault in his 50's for god sake!

Back in the day of the 1980's joshi's movement he always gave credit to it calling it the future, so much so that other wrestlers made fun of him for watching it.

He accepted and cherished hardcore ECW wrestling, he's always ahead of the time, not to make this a pro aew thing, but even just in recent years, stuff like "AEW is going to do something special" even then he knew what the fuck he was talking about.

He's just one of the best of all time, straight up, up there with your Ric Flairs and Bret Hart's, he's amazing and will be sorely missed.

Artists of the Month (January 2024 💖)

1. Janelle Monáe

I listened to The Age Of Pleasure twice, and played the hell out of "Django Jane", "Q.U.E.E.N.", and "Tightrope". Also listened to her Metropolis EP in its entirety for the first time. Appreciated her music a bit more than I already did this month. 😭💖💕

2. BTS

For some reason I never really sat down and listened to their music before this month. I guess I didn't like much the idea of hearing a lot of words and having to look up what they mean, instead of just understanding as I listen? Lol idk 😭

But, then @casetotu came to the rescue and made a playlist for me full of their songs and... I gotta say, I just LOVE the sound those songs have. And they also helped me understand some of their lyrics and their meaning and... Yeah, I really like them now hehe. 😅😁♥️

3. The Devil Wears Prada

Gave a full listen to Color Decay for the first time (had heard the songs but not as an album until now 😅).

And of course, played the heck out of their first three albums as I usually do. ♥️♥️♥️

4. Beastie Boys

On new year's eve, me and my dad, for no real reason other than to just chill, started playing some old school hip hop. Of course we played Beastie Boys, and we talked about how influential and original they actually were, both them and Rick Rubin (their legendary producer), for combining rock and hip hop in the way they did at the time.

And yeah, most people (including me) hear that now and think it's just corny lol. But when taking the era and impact their music had into account... You really get to enjoy and appreciate it. 😁♥️

And then Kerry King playing that solo for "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"? Aahhhhh that's just legendary 😭💖💖

5. Asking Alexandria

Honestly... Not much new here, I think? 😅

Listened to Where Do We Go From Here? for the second time, played the hell out of "Bad Blood" and kept playing their first two classic albums to death. Nothing new here. 😁💕

as much as I die inside reading the old fanfics I used to write when I was in middle school. It's nice to see them too. They're like a time capsule of my little cringy self just enjoying writing. It's sort of comforting to me. Like if I was happy writing this

Then I can be happy writing now, with all the stuff I've grown and learned over the years. I started writing because it was fun, I shouldn't worry about anything else but having fun.

I would like to start writing again, and enjoy doing it too! Late new year revolution! Finish that one thing o started on 2021! YEAH!
