Old gate sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch. The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). the takes that twitter pundits have been coming out with about "oldgate" are so full of projection it's actually unbelievable. like the main reason voters MAY see it has a huge vulnerability at this point is bc it's been hammered in by the media and social media commentators like this person that it has to be an absolutely fatal vulnerability. like this is almost akin to wishcasting imo and all these people are like "don't look at ME i'm just repeating what literally EVERYONE is saying 🤥"

I need to explore the entire Central Tyria map in GW2, again, for more Gifts of Exploration for the legendaries I want to craft, and I've managed over 50% of it with Gwen ... but as ever, was avoiding Ascalon apart from Ebonhawke.

Today I dragged myself to Diessa and it was like

In any case, it's interesting that some of the Diessa Charr distinguish between the pretty broadly brutal warfare of the Charr in general, and the "murderous" villainy of the Flame Legion in particular. Multiple factions definitely attacked civilians and even Pyre Fierceshot was proud of the (completely indiscriminate) Searing, so I'm not sure what distinction is being drawn here.

Also, I'm curious about the Oldgate ghosts wrt the Foefire. If they were slaughtered by the Flame Legion, they were already dead by then. Are they sticking around voluntarily because nobody has made amends or brought them peace, or did they get caught up in the Foefire curse with the living? They seem mechanically identical to Foefire ghosts, but if they did get incorporated into the curse ... well, a lot of Ascalonians had already been killed before the Foefire. Are these the only ghosts who got ensnared? If not, how many of the Foefire ghosts are people who were already dead?
