I love how in-depth your mech discussions dive
This isn't even my full power.jpg
I have to hold a lot back, because I don't know how to communicate well without overwhelming an audience.
Let me show you.
I'm right now figuring out how to explain a summary of over two years of investigation into mecha feet and contact-patch design, which led to me designing many MANY foot designs I came up with based on fighter landing gear, tank design, hovercraft, omniwheels, screw vehicles, and my personal favourites: marginal terrain vehicles and the Landmaster of Damnation Ally, which overcomes the shortcomings of 4+ generation Knightmare Frames [...]
(eg, their lack of omnidirectional motion, which they had to solve by transitioning to a psudoquadraped both with the Akito of Exile's 4-leg mode using its arms as walking limbs and the Queen Asura, which is not the same thing as a psudotetrapod because a quadraped has a abdomin structure closer to a jumping spider with the legs arranged inwardly for the front and outwardly for the back, and a tetrapod is radial pushing legs out at square or diamond angles relative to the abdominal centroid)
...and of Artos/Armored Trooperoids of Votoms [...]
(which had problems of a small tarus or hoof style foot with zero longitudinal arch which results in a lack of clearly defined calcaneus and thus no formal heel which would allow terrain gripping via the relative motion of the arch and phalangal body of the toes the heel like a beak -- all to encorporate the wheel in the arch-space -- which the design partially compensates through the use of a talon mechanism, and an optional structure fitted to the ankle which folds down to form an extended front foot -- which Armored Core's 5th generation later references in the folding falanges of the UCR series -- and late,r the Blue Knight variant directly addresses by extending the foot by 50% to improve the contact leverage with ground surfaces)
This is accomplished by using the stair-climber mechanism as a heel, but encorporating a scissor mechanism. Right now I'm not happy with where it is and I'm still figuring out where the hinge would go to keep it omnidirectional, which again is the common failure of leg-design in these platforms.
This is a MASSIVE amount of information to take in even in this light summary without diagrams to explain what's happening and I'd need help to really express what I actually want to accomplish.
I'm right now deeply conflicted as to how deep I should actually go because we can get very lost in the weeds and I'm not very skilled at diagramming the points I want to make and I have an entire taxonomic and anatomical language for mecha that I remove from my work when I present it to the public most of the time.
Like do I go into the development path, do I go into the evaluation of evolutionary paths I see like throughlines connecting things like how we got from knightly designs in Panzer World Galient or Dunbine (the first isekai) informs Tekkaman Blade informs Xi Gundam informs Escaflowne informs White Glint informs Unicorn Gundam and Banshee informs NWGIX/V, etc, etc?
Like there's an entire lineage and family line there being Albidimiles -- albidimiles being a portmanteau of albido (white) and miles (knight) -- not to be confused with the line Samonaut, which are essentially samurai-astronauts commonly belonging to Gundam.
Since we're dealing with design memetics, common concepts of conventional phylogenetic development don't apply since through a genetic lens, mecha is incredibly dependant on horizontal transfer -- eg, passing of information via contact, so adaptions happen not always convergently but frequently in direct parallel, as an arms-race does.
So that's an example of what this is like when I don't filter any of it for an audience, and it very quickly goes off into the weeds.
What I really need to go to the next level is an editor who understands the concepts I'm dealing with; for example, do I talk about the inherent transness of the L-Gaim Mark II and Nagano's own history with gender expression as a mechanical designer and how he expresses those feelings of femininity in his work, or do I go full schizo and present the world with my wild "Nagano-Egg Fashion-Sapphoid-Mantis" theory which is in itself a total fever dream born of conjecture gleaned entirely from his work and photographs of him leering at Tomino instead of his wife at his own marriage?
I need someone to reign me in, but also be able to support me in this capacity -- ie, a research partner who's happy to let me toil in the weeds and then is happy to help me represent these ideas and understand what you as an audience can actually make sense of.
What has happened is I accidently over-studied the design part of mecha and understudied the illustration part which I'm actually very poor at.
I can go so much deeper than I do regularly, but making sure I don't lose people is a challenge I've never managed to solve so I mostly just write for myself and then only turn it into a post if someone has a question.
Sorry if all of this is kinda disorganized.

Custom Toonami Block Week 200 Rundown
Code Geass: Roze’ of the Recapture: We start with watching the Seven Stars absolutely botch a break-in to the prison where they’ve got Sakura and their leader, but the good news is their fuckup gave Roze’ and Ash a lot of data about the prison’s defenses. Turns out there’s one of the new Knights of the Round hanging around the prison after they killed their two buddies last time and new Britannian Idol/instagram model Catherine is also on her way, hyped up to be a great pilot like Kallen. Roze’ and Ash breach the prison by strapping themselves to a missile and using the Slash Harkens to Spider-Man their way into the place like getting to Ellis Island in the Spider-Man 2 game. Once inside Roze wrecks havoc with Geass and gets all the prisoners released and all their soldiers special Knightmare Frames (which is weird because they explicitly show Ash’s Knightmare has a password system and in the original series they had keys and shit but I guess the prison just had them ready to go for immediate use) Roze’ reveals herself to Sakura and they try to escape but are stopped by Catherine’s crazy ballet shit but Roze’ is able to get the Seven Stars leader out of prison so she basically gets everybody but the person she wanted most freed. Ash fights off against the other Knight who has a cool auto-shield thing like I know I harped on last episode about how energy shields are less effective than physical shields but if you’re on an actual moving weapon you’d think an omnidirectional energy shield would be more effective than four physical energy-empowered shields that have to react to attacks like Gaara’s sand shield and start breaking down when Ash busts out his Rock Lee speed shit. I also notice Ash doesn’t really have weapons of his own aside from basic rifles and stuff and tends to steal his opponents’ weapons during the fight which is kind of neat. So much like Lelouch’s first couple outings, it’s successful but doesn’t really get them what they really want, so Roze’ reveals to the audience that Ash was a former assassin who killed her mother and the whole brother act is Geass-enforced slavery so she has a bodyguard to go about taking back her country before she finally kills her mother’s murderer, kind of a Schnizel fate worse than death deal and I’d say this makes for an interesting dynamic but I am like 80% sure this’ll end with Ash being like “even if I was controlled you still are my little brother” but if nothing else it does show the dark and cruel lengths Sakuya is willing to go to and that is kinda Code Geass’s whole deal.
Ranma ½: It’s the start of a new arc…ish thing as a girl named Kodachi fends off several of the rhythmic gymnastic girls from Ranma’s school and the girls beg Akane to beat the shit out of her in the upcoming gymnastics meet which happens to be a full-fledged fight. Kodachi’s kinda neat, she’s like if Kagura and Yura of the Hair had a baby and she basically uses a ribbon as a whip and is all about ambushing people so she jumps Akane to end the match before it begins. Shenanigans ensue and she ends up in love with Ranma when he snaps into damsel-saving mode after knocking her the fuck out while chasing Ryoga because this show has more love triangles than one of those fractal pictures. It’s also revealed that she’s Kuno’s little sister and is just kinda boy-crazy because she goes to an all girls school and has the same dogged determination to mate for life as her brother does. Ironically Akane fends off all the ambushes but is unable to overcome her own clumsiness while training and sprains her ankle just as she’s getting the hang of fighting with gymnastics equipment so now we gotta start the whole training arc over again but with Girl!Ranma this time.
Arcane: This time we get Caitlin’s side of the big explosion while Vi’s group was robbing their apartment and turns out the robbery revealed all the fucking illegal shit that she and Jayce had stashed there. Also there’s something about Jayce’s flashback where he gets transported to another world which I THINK is the overall lore of League of Legends and it’s kinda here to pay lipservice to it because I don’t think the series is interested in doing multiverse crossovers with all the characters. Jayce tells Dr. Porg that he’s trying to harness magic through science and idk how the fuck THAT works, like if you harness it through science it’s not magic anymore it’s just Big Float Science, for it to be magic it has to be ritualistic and unknowable. While Vi’s group is dodging the cops because they didn’t fucking hide Jinx’s crystallized nitroglycerin, Jayce is thrown before the council and despite Dr. Porg’s warnings proceeds to go on a rant about how magic’s fucking cool and what’s a little unethical science to unlock the powers of Dr. Strange? This doesn’t go over well because apparently the last guys who used magic kinda blew everything up so now everything works on clockwork shit which is kinda brilliant because clockpunk stuff is technology but it’s like a physical technology of gears and pegs pushing shit rather than electricity which could be a “magic”-like technology. So yeah thanks to Dr. Porg they don’t fucking kick Jayce out of town but they do kick him out of school and tell all the rich people to treat him like a pariah. And here we come to the part of the episode I like to call “The second in command fucks shit up” because both the cops and Dr. Porg’s second in command escalate things despite being told not to. The cops go ransack Vi’s place which prompts the Underpoeple to be out for blood and Dr. Porg’s second in command goes to Jayce as he’s about to take a long walk off a short building to come be like “Hey let’s do some Frankenstein shit I wanna see science gone mad” so yeah despite the heads of both factions being relatively reasonable they just have that one guy under them who wants to make shit worse. Cyber eye dude gives the Bladerunner Bully the monster-turning potion even though the kid outright says it’ll kill him and cybereye guy is like “Well yes but you know all the cool and powerful people are doing it” which does NOT answer is concerns at all but he does it anyway. Vander tells Vi why he made the deal with the cops to avoid another war so all the vulnerable little Artful Dodger children don’t get murdered even though it looks like people down here shoot each other to say hello. So it’s basically the idea of when do the costs of war outweigh the potential benefits of revolution, kind of a Code Geass dilemma. Still Vi’s ready to go fight the cops to protect Jinx and gives her some last words of wisdom before awaiting her fate.
Dandadan: With Turbo Granny in full cat mode, the group begins Operation Quest for Okarun’s balls. Okarun’s kinda struggling with the fact that he now has a hair trigger and a superpowered evil side where he snaps and almost strangles a guy for slutshaming Momo (which idk if normies can see his transformation because it doesn’t seem to get much more attention than ‘he fought a guy’) but also he’s struggling to look Momo in the eye now because he’s become aware that she’s pretty and is desperately trying to keep himself in the friend zone because he doesn’t wanna be weird around his best friend just because she’s a pretty girl and he knows it now. Meanwhile Aira, the girl that got Satoko Hojo’d last episode has found the first of Okarun’s balls and unfortunately they have the Ichigo Kurosaki effect of instantly making side characters of anyone who comes into contact with them, meaning now she’s seen Momo use her powers and is convinced she’s a demon and since she has Main Character Hair she’s a magical girl or some shit. It’s honestly kind of a really funny twist when side characters think they’re the main character, like it’s basically the whole premise of the first season of Mob Psycho 100 that you can’t be dicks to people just because you think you’re the protagonist of your own story and despite pretending to be nice Aira is the one who tried to slutshame Momo out of school and since that didn’t work the logical next step is EXORCISM because that’s just how her train of thought works. Granny tells the kids that the balls are basically mini Shikon Jewels at this point and will attract evil spirits hoping in vain to be revived from the life energy, so when Aira jumps Momo she also gets jumped by the Acrobatic Silky who has apparently been haunting Aira for some time and now attacks her now that she can finally see her. The Silky swallows pretty much everyone until Granny reveals that her only real remaining power comes from the default state of her as a Good Luck Cat, basically working as a minor reverse Jinx from Teen Titans and allowing small miracles of luck (basically an excuse for the plot to let good things happen in-universe that would otherwise be coincidental) so with this Momo lights the Silky’s hair up from inside and gets them all spit out to continue the battle.
Gleipnir: Going through the Big Headed Oni guy from last episode’s contacts, Claire finds a secret group of small-time Coin Collectors that she plans to use as reinforcements to shore up against her sister. I don’t believe the group gives their names yet since their leader is very secretive so I’ll just go by their nicknames. Their leader is a girl in a Jason Voorhees mask that kinda spends half the episode getting naked and feeling Claire up for… no real reason, like it seems to have nothing to do with her backstory or the contract process, it’s just… there for tits and fanservice I guess. Her story is she was getting sexually abused by her teacher but liked it and when her friend outted them to protect her the teacher killed himself and since she has this very specific worldview that anyone that breaks confidence should die she gets Stand-like specificity with her powers in exchange for little to no combat capability, so she’s able to command people to never betray her or else they die. I mean that’s an interesting dark turn on things but I’m also mildly distracted by the fact she was explaining this while going down on Claire for no reason and I’m also getting the feeling we’re probably not going to examine how valid her feelings of acceptance towards her abuse are so I can’t say it really sits too well. Meanwhile Shuuichi is making friends with dog-ears girl well Telescope Head seethes in jealousy, I mean he did ger her to naked mascot peg him on the first date just looking for her wallet based on extremely flimsy justification which just seems like the dumbest sidequest but yeah even for this show this episode has a lot of pointless nudity. Anyway turns out Claire’s sister’s group found the wallet so if Shuuichi and Dog Ears Girl do find it they’ll be headed straight to her.
Trigun: Meryl and Milly arrive in a town in a severe drought with the only place with anyone around being inhabited by Mr. Cliff, the owner of all the water in the area who has recently accidentally hired Vash to be his bodyguard after legit putting Vash’s name in the application. He’s hired to protect Cliff and his guest Marianne after a blonde shooter came for Cliff’s life recently after a dispute about the water rights. The trio basically become maids around the house while Cliff attempts to use Vash’s name to scare away any assassins, nobody really believing he’s actually Vash because that’d be a ridiculous coincidence. Shenanigans ensue and eventually it turns out Marianne is a Marshall and was the blonde shooter gunning for Cliff for hoarding the town’s water supply and yeah that much should’ve been obvious given he’s here talking about “properly regulating” the water and the fucking place is dryer than Alabasta. I’m more confused about Marianne’s cover story like she was supposedly the daughter of one of Cliff’s business partner and gives Vash a sob story about not being able to travel freely without her father’s permission, but she’s a Marshall so none of that is true but apparently her cover was good enough that Cliff didn’t question that she was who she said so either she really is his business partner’s daughter and is just also secretly a Marshall or they planted her and had an assumed identity with enough documentation/deep cover time to make it legit. Either way Vash takes down Cliff with the same trick Chisato uses in Lycoris Recoil and the town floods so nobody gets to live there until the water receeds and Vash gets to walk off into the sunset and be a dorky brooding loner with no one any the wiser about his real identity.
Revolutionary Girl Utena: Akio and Souji decide that just throwing zombified secondary characters at Utena isn’t going to get them anywhere so they decide to take the skills and strength of character of the student council members she’s already fought and crystallize them into the weapons wielded by the resolve of the Black Rose duelists. First up is Miki and his sister Kozue, who is revealed to have unresolved and decidedly confused feelings for her brother because this series only knows how to write one type of sibling relationship and it’s pseudo-incest. Now that’s probably not entirely fair since the tones of that are fairly brief and it only becomes weird after Kozue is corrupted unlike Nanami who’s just kinda… like that. Speaking of Nanami, she’s now taken over Touga’s spot as leader of the student council since Touga’s still BSoDing after his loss to Utena and Sayonji is out working on his Chazz Princeton rich boy humbling arc so I guess the student hierarchy goes President, Vice President, President’s little sister who’s not even involved, fair enough, though Juri mentions they’re basically plot relics now anyway since they haven’t received any further instruction since the Black Rose shit started. Miki’s been getting closer to Anthy and trying to express his feelings for her better and take her own desires into account after his loss and it’s really cute to watch Utena try and cheer him on, like in the first arc he was the closest thing to Anthy genuinely having someone care about their wellbeing aside from Utena herself, he just got a little tunnel vision on how to achieve that. Meanwhile turns out Kozue is VERY yandere for her brother and pushed a teacher down the stairs for getting close to him and now wants to kill Anhty for taking him from her which is just kind of bizarre since in Miki’s backstory we learn they’re estranged because of Miki’s fuckup and that Kozue didn’t want much to do with him but guess that was a front and both siblings do still love each other but don’t really know how to approach each other. Kozue admits under the Black Rose’s psychoanalysis that she purposely does self-destructive things to hurt Miki in some twisted form of sadism because she feels the only way they can be close is if he’s worried about her. This all culminates when she’s brainwashed and tries to kiss him only to literally pull a sword out of his heart that gives her all his fencing skills combined with her new resolve to kill Anthy. She duels Utena and it’s not a very long fight, but Utena does get an assist from Anhty, at first I was kinda hoping it’d be something like the lightsaber thing Touga did but it seems like it’s just a slightly improved version of the Dios Thrust. Either way Kozue is freed and spends some time with Miki while recovering, hopefully ready to be more honest with him so their relationship can normalize.
So yeah, that's it, don't really have anything too special for the 200th week except to say I'm surprised I made it this far, like I always said at the beginning I was terrible at sticking to a weekly schedule yet here we are 200 weeks deep with every series that started the block entirely complete, that's really something.

Dance Your Way Home

This is my WIRE magazine review of Emma Warren's book from earlier this year....
👇🏻
Appropriately enough, this book is in constant movement. Its framework is simultaneously memoir, history and exploration of the human mind and body, and it oscillates between these modes, shifting perspective and location endlessly. In any page you’ll find multiple voices, the action flipping from Orpington to Rwanda and Stoke-on-Trent to Chicago in a moment, a zooming in and out from broad historical sweep to images of moving crowds to micro personal detail or insight.
But for all that, it keeps returning to one place: the dancefloor. And even more specifically, to long-established journalist Emma Warren’s own feet, on specific dancefloors, and to what they were doing: how her feet moved, what shoes she was wearing, what those floors were made of, how it felt. It’s hard to think of a better, or more literal, way that a complex narrative could be grounded. This book dances around, but is also firmly rooted in, the very experience of dancing.
It draws us from Warren’s parents’ youth on the English south coast, through her own childhood in Kent, student days in Manchester, working for Jockey Slut and The Face, parenthood, community organising and on. Each time we get a sense of where dance was in her life, from infant school tap and ballet, through youth club discos, funk and soul clubs, acid house, 90s superclubs, drum’n’bass, dubstep, UK funky and into the myriad of jazz-adjacent fusions of the past decade.
But every step of the way it fires off backwards in time and across continents, digging into the roots of specific dance moves and styles, the functions of dancing for social groups and movements, it’s effects on the human brain. First and second hand sources are quoted constantly – from those Warren shares specific memories with through keystone musicians and promoters to academics and scientists with insight into the dance.
In this way, it feels very similar to Jude Rogers’s The Sound of Being Human from last year, which also used memoir as a springboard to examine the science and social function of music. But where Rogers was looking the echoes and abstractions of memory, Warren keeps the focus tightly on physicality – of experiences and the building blocks of culture passed from hand to hand, body to body. And her language has a deeply satisfying physicality to match, as in “Our gestural polyphony changed the temperature, too, heating venues up with human-generated humidity.”
Despite its omnidirectional approach, this core keeps its momentum like a groove running throughout, and it really works on all its intended levels – and simply as a polemic in favour of dancing, whether in clubs, at home or professionally. Looking at subcultural evolution through the dancer’s lens – reminding us, for example that some of the most crucial dance musicians like A Guy Called Gerald and Shut Up & Dance were trained, even professional dancers – provides endless vital insights. And Warren’s phrase making provides plenty of pithy reminders of her fierce sense of purpose. “Culture matters when everything else falls away,” she says. “You can’t eat culture and it doesn’t pay the rent, but it does provide pride and history, which are useful starting points for recovery.”

QRP'de 28 Mhz.'e En Uygun Anten?
10 metre bandında (28 MHz) QRP çalışmak için "en uygun" anten, aslında durum ve önceliklere bağlı olarak değişebiliyor.
Genel olarak verimliliğin çok önemli olduğu QRP çalışmaları için bazı popüler ve etkili seçeneklerden bazıları şu şekilde;
Manyetik Loop Anten (Magnetic Loop):

You will need an omnidirectional condenser microphone, an audio interface with an XLR input, and a microphone cable with ample length to reach all necessary locations in your room. While you can use any omnidirectional mic, Sonarworks recommends their own for the most precise results.
Once your environment is calibrated, SoundID Reference provides you with a range of predefined calibration profiles, zero-latency processing, and filter modes to suit any audio workflow, giving you confidence in the sound you're hearing.
