Review/Recommendation: Psychosynthesis

For those in Kuala Lumpur, I highly recommend watching #Psychosynthesis at #PJPAC this weekend. They have two more shows this Sunday.

I qualify this by saying I am not a dance man. I am going off the vibes here. This is very much a contemporary dance show, true to Kenny Shim's forte. No smiles, just nude leotards and mannequin-like form and some super duper fancy multimedia work.

We start strong with some industrial-techno, giving way to some kind-of post-rock and drone-type thing. Yet - there’s a lot of first position pre-intermission - torturous holds and pictures emerging out of the chaos of a full company on stage - duets that emerge pleasingly from them. Where there is synchronicity it is not soothing, it is unnerving. Great stuff. It ends on what I can only call blender-phronk, 10 minute technical disaster not withstanding.

The second half is arguably my favourite -  a return to a thumping dark industrial-techno beat that goes from shifting duets to a brutal assemblage of men as scaffolds for women to break their bodies on, progressing into a Mick Gordon-esque conveyer belt of humanity, buzzing out into a post-rock (Eluvium among them) denoument. I want the track list Kenny.

Lights wise? It’s incredible. Tan Eng Heng is some kind of magician. Sure, there wasn’t laser scanning (which I was expecting) But that goddamn ring was a heartbeat, a pulse, a conveyer, whenever it needed to be. I wish they had been more daring with it. The LED panels also woefully underutilised. 

It’s been, if you ask the right people, been a long way in making. Delayed amongst other things - none of that got in the way of this show. Watch it.#theatre #dance #dancetheatre #musicaltheatre #1utama #oneutama

Winter Break

Before the winter break, the school decided to have a winter singalong for the children and parents. We were practicing everyday until 2 days before the event, my body decided to break down and caught covid. It's my second covid and I was asking God, "Why?! Why now?"

Yes, of course I get to run away from my responsibility but I was so ready to dance with the children and right after that, take my flight back home to Malaysia. But I guess God has a better plan and just ask me to get ready for my flight accompanied with my covid. Haha! All in all, I was good and clear the next day when I reach Malaysia!

When I found out that I was clear from covid, I rush myself to the mall! I miss shopping very much as there's nothing much to shop here in Cambodia. I cannot believe that I can really spend most of my earnings in a day! haha!

As we were shopping, I bumped into my dad's sister and her family who stayed in Seremban in OneUtama. I just felt like it's God's way for us to catch up with the family after away for more than a year!

We had an opportunity to even have a meal with my mom's side cousins!

I miss my family a lot. It's really difficult to gather everyone around the world just to do a short vacation. But this time, I was firm and asked my one and only brother to join us to Genting Highlands.

We took this opportunity to celebrate my auntie's birthday and bought her cakes.

Celebrated her birthday at Beauty In A Pot hotpot shop and I must say, I enjoyed it a lot!

Love the weather very much! Enjoyed walking by the shops where we stayed and took the cable car to SkyWorld.

The scenery at Genting was beautiful! Manage to see above the clouds!

The morning before leaving, we went up to the rooftop of Vista Residence to take nice pictures together. But it was a struggle as it was so glaring and everyone is trying to open their eyes. Haha!

Battle of the Mall(?)

There was a debate on the social regarding what is the best mall, which is very Klang Valley centric, because you know, we have so many malls. Me on the other hand, I dont really have a strong feeling towards mall haha. I guess probably because I dont do window shopping as much. Most of my stuff and outfit before was bought at Jusco or Giant. And that is not really a mall. Haha but foreal even buku kertas lukisan I bought at Giant. So to me, a mall is just huh, a mall. But of course lah there's a preferability so here my not so rate on it.

Wangsa Walk LOL new KL people will say mende wangsa walk, what got but haha it was a pretty famous hangout place back when I was in high school. It got wayang, arcade, takoyaki, rotiboy, boiling. And it a pretty smol mall too, so no need that many of walking. Haha sure takde hnm but kamon, your taste is HnM?!

Mid Valley Honestly, this is like an upper mall to me. Because it kinda big and have so many shops even one I rarely see. As a kid, me veryyy jarang go here. But during my study, hmmm wait even then I only go if nak tengok wayang je. And it accessible by KTM, so yeah thats that.

IOI Putrajaya Honestly....haha I dont like this mall. It so cracy big kinda make me headache if I need to go here everyday. Even go there every month pun, I feel overwhelmed. But I do have some fun memories lah. Though,,,yeah so big. Got LUSH, tapi gue takde duit tak beli lebih2 huhuhuhuhuhu. OHH one more reason tak suka isparking mahal!! sekali masuk RM2 on weekdays, weekends is RM4! crazy. Tengok wayang je will cost you RM8 on parking alone!!! ughhhh

Setapak Sentral Known as KL Festival before. It's....okay. If I live nearby, maybe would go there more. Jalan in Setapak is not very fun to drive though.

OneUtama I am not....OG or TTDI enough to comment. It's a vverryyy rare place I go. Like VERYY. I have no reason to go there and yeah, nothing. If want to talk about layout, yeah it's big, but I was not there enough to familiar with the place. So cam.....okay. Oh one point is, probably tiket parking murah. haha I went tengok wayang on sunday, only paid RM2! so cam eh cun giler

Sunway Pyramid A...fancy mall to me. Haha maybe because the pyramid so gahh one. And the interior also fancy, wow extra. But not a every day/month/year mall to me. No comment

Publika I...honestly like Publika. Hahahha maybe because not me who drive here. yeah, the level thing is confusing, but only if you take lift. If escalator, cam okay kot. It's a fancy place, like very jarang to see if crowd CROWD. So not very overwhelmed. The architecture and surrounding are nice too, to walk around. It probably the nearest fancy mall I go compared to OU or sunway

Sunway Putra Only go if I want to stop for a bit by LRT and omw to home. Yes escalator layout is stupid. It's actually the most basic and boring mall.... like all mall is boring, but this is the OG template.

SOGO Such an OG shopping only mall. Probably most visited mall by me.

Melawati Mall So annoyingly big and huge looking. (yes grammarly this is a wrong sentence but you get my point aite)

Kip Mall, Bangi Good sebab no need bayar parking. My go to alone 'healing' place (LMAOO Pleasee I hate this word ahahah I only say it ironically). Actually, sebab ada Jalan Jalan Japan je.... The Mr DIY outlet here no likey. The layout is memanjang, so need to jalan sampaiii ke hujung penjuru to buy stuff usually. Got KFC, Watsons, Guardian, Supermarket, kedai jam and tailor. Something for everyone lah I would say.

Evo Mall, Bangi No likey tapi got Sushi King, Aeon, Gigi Coffee and AnW. Besar, tapi dalam kosong. seDIHH. Parking rate is weird.

KLCC Good hangout place. Always, crowded lol.

Subang Parade No idea. My friend like it though.

Marvellous meal at @lurettad.o.p.italiandeli in @1utama for easter course menu, include: Lamb rack with truffle wedges and broccoli sauce - so much flavour packed in the lamb rack I was surprised ! Broccoli sauce to balance the delicious strong lamb rack flavours down. The truffle wedges is however abit of a miss , I personally find it not much truffle taste I think it’s only truffle oil. Self made ricotta and spinach Ravioli with sage butter - at first I thought the Butter sauce was very little, but once I tasted it is actually extremely dense concentrated butter That the amount of sauce given is JUST RIGHT so that it’s not overpowering. Cause I’m usually a sauce person NEED a lot of sauce. Colomba with mascarpone cream - love the mascarpone cream that makes the colomba (apparently it is traditional Italian Easter cake ) much more sweeter and not so dry.
